[GeForce 6] SLI mode and Geforce 6600 GT

Hello all,
I have one single question.
Would a SLI capable graphics card work in a non-SLI motherboard given that I have no desire to actually take advantage of the SLI capability? Meaning, I will have just one graphics card in my computer.
Cause yeah, I am in this exact sitution....

hehe, that was easy (apparently)
Thanks

    Hello!
This motherboard comes with that SLI switch Card (required to be inserted before SLI function works)
Also how can I remove that card from its place?
And in what manner do I have to insert that card to make SLI function work?
    Helpful replies will be appreciated...

Pull the 2 metal levers at the sides sideways and the card will flip out - Turn it around (Theres 2 arrows saying "non sli mode" and "sli mode") Put the side that says "sli mode" facing the connector, press it down and the metal clips will click back into place.

The problem I'm having is that when I'm in SLI mode and I'm in a game, namely BF2 or Desert Combat I get these small black squares that look like static everytime I move my mosue to look in game from side to side. Or when I fly an aircraft in the game these small static black squares are everywhere. When I play with jjust one card everything is fine. I don't have the cards overclocked. As far as the drivers that I'm using, they are the 77.30 version. Before this started happening I used these drivers and everythng worked just perfect. Also when I'm in SLI mode I get frequent lock up's and system craches. Dose anyone have any idea what's going on and causing this?  I really need some answers here. Thanks for anyone who assists me with this.

  • G5 Quad (Geforce 6600) and Dell 2405fpw don't work together

I purchased both (G5 Quad (Geforce 6600) and Dell 2405fpw) brand-new a few days ago.
When I connect the display using the supplied DVI->VGA cable, the display works. When I connect them using (about any type of) DVI-D cable, I get no picture. The dell screen just stays in stand-by mode. BUT it gets detected (I can see this when I connect a second screen). And the screen show a test image when I disconnect it from the mac, so there's at least SOMETHING happening...
    What is wrong here?
I am first-time Mac user and on edge to go to the PC/Unix world again, without ever looking back to apple-land, because of this, as it is SERIOUSLY SCREWING UP christmas for us this year.
    Thanks for your help.

Actually ``detect displays'' found the screen, that was what I meant in my first post.
The issue is kinda solved now, the DVI-Port of the ``brand-new'' display, which was delivered directly from the Dell factory in Limerick, is non-functional.
I tried it with a different setup (PC) and see the same symptoms, which lead me to this conclusion. I will get a full refund and possibly buy a 3007WFP if the price is decent.
It should work with a Geforce 6600 - even at 2560x1600.
    Thanks,

  • Run Quad G5 GeForce 6600 256M PCIe card in PORTRAIT MODE?

    Hello,
I have a G5 Quad PPC with the stock 256M GeForce 6600 video card.
Is there a way that I can run my monitor in portrait mode using this card?
    Thanks...

You can't run the monitor in portrait mode in Tiger (10.4.x). The rotation feature didn't exist in the graphics card drivers for nVidia cards (it does for ATi).
With Leopard (10.5.x), the rotation feature has been added for nVidia cards.
To use this feature, you can either change to an ATi card and continue to use Tiger, or upgrade to Leopard if you're keeping your nVidia card.

I get frequent alert from Photoshop CS4 regarding display driver which say's to
check for driver update and that Open GL 2.0 is not available and that GPU is turned off.
But I can work in the photoshop but a few things are slow and look is not that great.
So can anyone help with this? I can't seem to find anything regarding a solution for this on apple or adobe or anywhere. anyone have some help or ideas. Do I need to upgrade to OS to 10.5 or is it a driver. which I can't seem to find. Also I have run apple software update a number of times and it says everything is updated and good to go.

OpenGL 2.0 is only available in 10.5.x. OS X 10.4.x had OpenGL 1.5.

Ok, try this: Photoshop Preferences > Performance, UNcheck OpenGL Drawing. You don't need it, it's an eyecandy feature for the PS GUI more than anything else.

  • GeForce 6600 LE and Aperture?

I'm about to receive a dual-core 2.0 GHz G5 and was thinking seriously of purchasing Aperture. However, I don't see this machine's stock graphics card (GeForce 6600 LE) among those supported on the Aperture page. Is this because the card is new and the requirements haven't been updated? If it is supported, does it work well enough with Aperture? Thanks.

Have just posted this on the G5-expansion forum... Hope it helps.
    Dear Finlaand
I may have a way through for you and others in the "shouldn't have bought the 6600" and tried to use Aperture.
After 1 month back and foward on the phone to Apple Australia, the best they could do was refer me to an Apple reseller, and order the 7800GT through their service department. $AU 1200 : ( - can you believe that price...
It arrived today! After instal, Aperture now runs with real time adjustments!!
I have had to use the 6600 to drive my second display as it didn't come with the little extension dongle to accomodate dual displays (the 2 DVI connectors are physically too close in the back of the card).
I now feel like I have a fast computer - instead of an expensive paperweight wrt Aperture.
    Hope this helps, Aron.

  • G5 2.3 GHz (2 cores) - GeForce 6600 and a Dvi-D 24"  Screen

    Hi There,
I have the G5 2.3 Ghz (2 cores) with the GeForce 6600 card, My question is: will it work with a new
Samsung 24" 1920x1200 (model: 2493HM) with a DVI-D port out of the box? or do I need an adaptor to connect them.
a friend led me to believe that the ports on my G5 are DVI-I and therefore it will not connect to the screen unless i'll use an adapter. (Please recommend one if so)
I currently have a 20" Apple Cinema Display Attached.
    Thx.

The ports on your card are DVI-I. All this means is that the ports carry both digital and analog signals. A DVI-D monitor simply won't have the pins on its cable for the analog connection - that's fine because you don't need them since you're using the digital signal.
Your DVI-D monitor will connect just fine with your existing graphics card out of the box, no adapter needed.
To see how the ports are laid out, see the Wikipedia page on DVI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVI

  • K9NGM3 how to enable both onboard video and video card NVidia GeForce 6600

My previous mainboard was K9NGM2 (GeForce 6150 onboard video) and I've used both onboard and external video at same time under Vista.
Now I've upgraded the mainboard and it's now a K9NGM3-FIH (with nVidia 7050 chip). Onboard graphic works as well if there is no external PCIe video card. When I plug an external one (GeForce 6600), internal one disappears. I both tried BIOS settings; primary card is Onboard / or PCIe. No luck!
If there is an external card, onboard video doesn't work at boot and under Vista. There is no Video graphic adapter named 7050 : ( When I unplug it then reboot there is the 7050 under device manager...
    What's wrong with them?
    Thanks.

when you have a stand alone video card, why would you want to use on board video at the same time? stand alone video card is much much better than those one on board.

  • Reduced blanking and Nvidia Geforce 6600 GT (MSI NX 6600 GT)

Can anybody tell me whether cards with the Geforce 6600 GT chip support
reduced blanking? (DVI single link with high resolution TFT monitor)
    Many thanks

Would you happen to know where I can find the G5 version?
I picked up a GeForce 6600 of craigslist for $30. Would love to install it in my G5 tower (from 2005) to get three monitors running. It's a PCI-e (?) card. Assuming it's from a PC originally, will it work on the Mac?

  • [GeForce 6] NVIDIA GeForce 6600 512

    Doe's Nvidia support the "Diablotek NVIDIA GeForce 6600 512"  model NE+66000+TD51-PM8543 ?
What new drivers support the 512 memory?
I had posted about this before but didn't any replies except my own that I had found the basic product info. I've seen these cards at different sellers locations but beyond sales there is no extra support. Specifically from NVIDIA.
All help would be good. Also the card with the original driver pack works GREAT.
Also WHY does the Package say "SLI supported" and yet there is NO SLI bridge connection? Did NVIDIA make a mistake and send out a bad card or just a bad package?

I guess the mistake is from Diablotek, about SLI issue, and personally I don't like Diablotek products. And I guess you should stick to the driver pack, if it works don't touch it.

  • GeForce 6600 support same resolution on both monitors?

    Just want to make sure...
I'm upgrading and want to be sure before plunking down $7K on a new system. When running two monitors in extended desktop mode, does the geForce 6600 card (the G5 standard) support the same resoultions on both monitors simultaneously? I know with some older cards you ended up with different rsolutions and hence different sized desktops on the two monitors. I assume this is not the case with the new G5, but want to make sure.

I believe so-- I've got the 7800 and it works that way.

  • Looking for Nvidea GeForce 6600 OR Similar Graphics Card for Quad G5 PPC

    Hi there!
Wishing a Happy New Year to yo'all!
Was wondering whether someone might help me out with a minor issue I'm having...
I have recently acquired a Quad 2.5GHz PPC G5 (with PCIe). When I bought it, it came installed with a NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 graphics card, which works just fine. Heard these cards are very good for 3D rendering, etc...
However... As I am an audio engineer, I don't need a flashy graphics card... Instead I need "flashy" sound cards...
I have two PCIe UAD-2 Quad cards for all my UAD plugin needs within Logic Pro... And I have PCIe Symphony X card for my Apogee (AD16X & DA16X) front end sound conversion. All which sound and work very well... So far so good!
But here's the problem... My Quad PPC has 4 PCIe slots, which should be fine for my arrangement i.e. one slot for graphics card, one for PCIe Symphony card, two for UAD-2 Quad cards... BUT the damnable NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 takes up two PCIe slots!!!
I have looked on line to find out what the Quad 2.5GHz G5 PPC was originally supplied with: an Apple OEM Nvidea GeForce 6600. However these are rare and hard to come by now-a-days... And I can't wait forever till one pops up for sale.
So... Can anyone recommend to me a graphics card that will work in the Quad 2.5GHz G5 PPC... AND take up only one PCIe slot and be able to run a 30 inch DVI Apple display i.e. it needs two DVI ports???
I'd even do an out right swap for the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 and a good condition and working Apple OEM Nvidea GeForce 6600!? Heard this is more than a fair deal...
    Cheers in advance!

    Hi-
You can buy a Geforce 6600LE at We Love Macs. They aren't cheap, though.
This eBay seller has several of the 6600LE cards, at a much better price. The seller is very reliable (from experience) and carries the positive feedback to support my recommendation.
This 7800GT is also a good possibility. It takes only one slot, and provides much better performance than the 6600LE.
This flashed 7800GT is also an option. A flashed card is one that has the PC ROM replaced with Mac ROM. Again, this seller knows his stuff.....
As with the 6600LE, the 7800GT has a dual link DVI to support the 30" ACD.
After you get a replacement card, might try and get a few quid for the FX 4500 on eBay.
An original will sell better than the flashed models that are selling there.

Hi, Polynomial. Try posting the question in one of the G5 forums. Most MacBook Pro owners aren't likely to be of much help with it.
