  • MS-6340M /GeForce FX 5200 problem??? Help!

I just bought the MS-6340 motherboard with Athlon 1.1 gig processor.  I also bought the new Gainward 660/Pro nVidia GeForce FX 5200 128MB Video Card.  THe Card is a 8X AGP and the motherboard has a 4X AGP slot.
My problem is that my computer completely freezes up all the time with that card in.  I've put older cards in and the PC runs fine.  I've currently have Windows XP, but I started out installing WIndows ME and 2000, and it locked up on them all.  I have the latest 44.03 nVidia drivers installed.  I also have the latest 4.7 BIOS installed for the motherboard.
Has anybody had a similar problem?  Any help would be appreciated.

  • PowerPC G5, NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200, problems with monitor

I have 1.6GHz PowerPC G5 (M9020LL/A) with NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 & HP LP1965 monitor. Monitor does not wake up after going to sleep using system preferences or being turned off using the button. All I get is light blue screen changing to black and so on and on. Anyone? Thx a lot!

Thx for tips. Booting OK in Safe, reaching Desktop.
    1. While in Safe, if both G5 & HP are on "never turn off" I get some dark grey screen after couple of minutes and I can "wake" G5 with mouse/keyboard. If I turn off HP on a button, nothing helps.
    2. Still in Safe: as soon as I set G5 to sleep after x mins an HP loses signal, nothing helps. I can wake G5 from keyboard, coming to light blue pic and thats it.
    3. Rebooting - nothing helps. As soon as I cut the power to monitor or it goes to sleep, same thing happens. Black screen turning to light blue and so on. I have tried to press Power on G5, put it to sleep, than wake it by pressing Power again. I am stuck on a light blue screen for a minute, then all of a sudden I get the signal back.
Only thing that "works" is to have Screen saver on x mins and Monitor on "Never".

  • Another dual display problem - GeForce FX 5200

I've seen lots of questions about dual display problem, situation when trying to connect two non-apple vga displays to your graphic card.
I have GeForce FX 5200 graphic card, with 2 display output's. And two DELL 17" vga LCD displays.
I manage to connect 1 display regulary with dvi to vga converter, but for other display I tried several difrent converters ADC to DVI to VGA, and it just did NOT work.
G5 could see other display in display settings, in arrange option I coud see two identical displays, but I don't get anu picture (desktop) on other display???
Is it problem with output's on my graphic card (Gforce FX 5200), could it be soloved with some ADC to VGA converter?
P.S. Dr. Bott ADC VGA Extractor is not compatible with GeForce FX 5200????

  • Problems tv out geforce fx 5200?

I have one msi geforce fx 5200 and installs controllers 44,03 and the exit of TV is seen in black and white, but unistall the controllers and leaves those of win xp and if they appear the colors in the TV, it seems that they are the controllers? ?(  ?(

    http://www.coloredhome.com/video/conectores_senales_cables.htm

  • Problem with MSI Geforce FX 5200 & Westinghouse LCM-22W2

I've tried a bunch of different drivers and the highest resolution I can get displayed on this monitor is 1440x900. it's native resolution is one step higher, 1680x1050. Anyone have any ideas as to why my card refuses to display anything higher than this, even tho the latest drivers i have and all MSI's information specifically states that it should be capable of doing so?
    Thanks,
    -John

here's my specs - if i'm missing anything important let me know.
    MSI KT3 Ultra ARU
Athlon XP 2100+ (overclocked, recognized as 2700+)
    MSI Geforce FX 5200 VTD128
    1 GB RAM
Win XP Home, SP2 completely up to date
The Nvidia drivers are version 6.14.10.9371 released on 10/22/06 - I had a newer version but they didn't fix any problems, at this point i'm honestly not sure why I went back to this version :P - I had the absolute latest version from Nvidia's site, which the release notes specifically stated supported the Non-traditional 1680x1050 resolution, and that the FX5200 was supported by these drivers. Still didn't work.
    The GPU Bios is 4.34.20.23.08
Also, upon startup my system was kinda hanging and I would get a notice that SW20.exe had crashed. I disabled sw20.exe and sw24.exe from starting up when the PC did and have no problems. It's not liek I miss them, cus I never used the overclocking functions of the graphics card anyway.
Originally XP was recognizing my monitor as a "Plug and play" monitor. The manual says this:
"VESA Plug and Play eliminates the complicated and time-consuming installation process. Your computer system will identify and automatically adjust the LCD monitor. The LCD monitor uses Display Data Channel (DDC) to send Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) to the computer system, so the computer system can automatically adjust the LCD monitor."
Right now the monitor is running with a custom inf file that PowerStrip (Which I downloaded from a link I found here) created for it. Westinghouse has no drivers or anything remotely helpful on their website.
Also, I'm using a Dual-link DVI cable, the monitor also has a VGA input.

  • MS-6330 Lite K7T Pro2 Ver:1 with GeForce FX 5200, does it works?!

    Hello...
I have one MS-6330 Lite K7T Pro2 Ver:1 and it Support AGP 2.0 1x/2x/4x, and I want to buy a GeForce FX 5200 that works for AGP 8x...
Question, this GeForce FX5200 will work with my MotherBoard (that supports AGP 2.0 1x/2x/4x) ?!?!
I think that´s no problem, and i´ll not have ALL the features that the board offers, but will work... do you guys know about?!

    extracted from http://www.answers.com/topic/accelerated-graphics-port
    Quote
AGP cards are backward and forward compatible within limits. 1.5 V-only keyed cards will not go into 3.3 V slots and vice versa, though "Universal" slots exist which accept either type of card. AGP Pro cards (rarely used) will not fit into standard slots, but standard AGP cards will work in a Pro slot. Some newer cards like nVidia's GeForce 6-series or ATI's X800-series only have keys for 1.5 V to prevent them from installing in older mainboards without 1.5 V support. The graphic cores can only handle 0.8 V for AGP8x and 1.5 V for AGP4x and will be damaged by 3.3 V slots. Some of the last modern cards with 3.3 V support were the nVIDIA GeForce FX5000-series and the ATI Radeon 9500/9700/9800(R350) (but not 9600/9800(R360)).
to answer your question, that card will work in your board

Request you to please help me out for this problem. Its dam sure something wrong in the card driver or BIOS settings as its occurring with any OS.
This is my last ray of hope, with a expection that some MSI people will help me out, else I'll have to throw the f**king card to bin. Sorry being unprofessional, but it seems that I have wasted my money banking on the brand MSI/nVidia.
    PC Configuration:
    1. Asus K8N motherboard (nVidia chipset, NO on-board graphics)
    2. MSI T-128 (nVidia GeForce FX 5200) PCI graphics card

    Thank you in advance.

  • Dell Widescreen Displays and GeForce FX 5200

    Hi everyone,
I have a PowerMac G5 1.6 GHz with the original GeForce 5200 that came in it.
I'm shopping around for a replacement monitor and am considering Dell's 20.1" wide model (2005FPW).
Does anybody have any experience with this combination? I see that some have had problems with the DVI connector on the Dell displays. I also can't find anything that assures me that my video card is capable of displaying at the Dell's native 1680x1050 resolution.
Any help or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to avoid the high price of the Apple displays.
    PowerMac G5 1.6 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

It's with some comfort that others have the same problem I do, getting my Dell 2005fpw to interface with my GeForce FX 5200 on my PowerPC G5,running OS 10.3.9. I've seen elsewhere (can't remember where) Mac users raving about their Dell monitors. They know something I don't, I guess, and that's why I'm in this discussion.
I wonder how users of the Apple Cinema 20" are able to interface with the GeForce 5200, when the Cinema requires the same 1680x1050 resolution as the Dell. I've accessed the nVIDIA site to download an update, but no luck. Think I'll go back in & look at the resolutions available on the GeForce 5200.

  • Dual monitors on nvidia geforce fx 5200

    Hi,
I'm using a nvidia geforce fx 5200 card that has vga out, dvi out, and svideo out. I have one crt hooked into the vga, the main monitor, and I have a dvi to vga converter, to enable a second vga, crt monitor. When I try to use the nvidia-settings, and enable twinview,  and I get this message:
    "failed to set metamode (1) 'CRT00: nvidia-auto-select @1024x768 + 1024+0, DFP-0: 1024x768 @1024x768 +0+0' (Mode 2048x768, id: 50) on X screen 0."
    any ideas? thanks.

Hm, Not working, just display on the true vga monitor. Are you using a dvi to vga connector as well? Heres my log output, I couldn't make too much of it, I tried to switch the CRT-1 to DFP-0 which didn't seem to do the trick either.

  • MSI GeForce FX 5200 bios config???

I just bought a msi geforcefx 5200 (TDR-128), and I'd like to know what is the best configuration I can put on my bios (MSI K7N2 DL)?
    AGP clock? 66-120
    AGP Voltage? 1.5-1.7
    AGP fastwrite? Enable/disable
    Video cache? Enable/disable
    Graphic Aperture Size? 64-512
    PCI...? 32-128 and so on...
I was runing on default (agp clock 66 volt 1.5 fastwrite enable video cache disable and grap apert 64 pci 32) and the games has some kind of lockups of miliseconds :(
I tryed to rase the graphic aperture size to 128, the pci to 128 and video cachable to enable but no fix, please should i change the agp clock and voltage.
Ps.: i also tryed to disable the fastwrite but no fix :P

The AGP clock should be left to its default setting, as well as the AGP voltage, except if you want to overclock your card´s memory, it could give you some help
AGP FastWrite should be enabled, it could deliver in a performance gain
SideBand Adressing will not be available if the card runs at AGP 8X (AGP 3.00 disables it) and as your mobo supports AGP 8X (nFORCE2) don´t enable it.
Video Cache gives no performace gain, except on DOS, it´s useless as well as System BIOS Cache.
AGP Aperture Size should be set at 128 MB, anything bigger is completely useless
And the PCI Latency Timer leave it in its default setting or in 64 clocks
Don´t touch the AGP speed or voltage because it will give you more problems than solutions. Try latest nVIDIA ForceWare drivers, latest nFORCE drivers and see if the problem remains.
    Good Luck!

Post your grub's menu.lst, the xorg log, xorg.conf if you're using one, /etc/mkinitcpio.conf, /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf, the output of 'ls /etc/modprobe.d/' and the output of lsmod.
Monitor has connected directly to VGA connector through 3 m cable.

  • G5 GeForce FX 5200 graphics and third party monitor

I need to buy a new monitor on which I can change manual settings, to work with a G5 1.6GHz using a GeForce FX 5200 card.
Unfortunately the new Mac displays (24") only use a mini display port. And the 20" cinema displays are no longer sold.
I have seen a Dell Ultrasharp 2209WA 22" with VGA and DVI-D ports. It's 1680 x 1050 resolution. Any ideas on compatibility with the graphics card? Will the DVI port on the G5 work with it? I would prefer to use the DVI rather then the VGA port.
    Thanks.
    kevin

Hi Japamac; thanks for your reply.
I was referring to being able to change, using physical controls on the monitor itself, the Brightness, contrast, colour temp.
I had read elsewhere (somewhere in this support section, I think), that using the manual controls had become a problem when connected to this card/G5.
We currently have an old ADC connected 17" monitor, on which there are no manual controls of that sort. (The purpose of making these manual settings is to use in conjunction with a Spyder2Pro for colour calibration).

  • GeForce FX 5200 and Dell 20" 2005FPW - not recognized

    Hello,
I just got a dell monitor figuring that my computer could support it as it's the same as the apple display. It works with my powerbook - recognized by name, but that's an ati card. With the G5, it works in the VGA, but not at the correct resolution. it won't go to 1600 and there is no 1620 X 1050.
When the dvi cable is connected, the self test dissapears, but the monitor just goes to sleep.
I have the 64mb card....maximum res is 1900+. What's the deal? PC users can force the resolution with a utility. Am I stuck buying a new card for my machine??
    thanks for any help.

    Sam,
Don't waste your money. Your GeForce FX 5200 will run your Dell. In fact, I'm writing to you with my Dell 2005FPW monitor, running on my GeForce FX 5200. In this discussion group, I saw a suggestion to zap (reset) the PRAM. It worked for me.
Using the monitor that does work, zap your PRAM. When you zap your PRAM, as the G5 instruction manual says, release the 4 keys after the second chime. Then, you must go in and reselect, thru System Preferences, your Mac HD as the boot-up drive. Your manual says all this. ShutDown.
After I did all that, I reconnected my Dell, started up, & VOILA! Not only that, but when I went into System Preferences->Displays, I saw the Dell's 1680x1050 resolution as the selected resolution, so the GeForce seems to configure itself to anticipated device resolutions.
However, reading other threads in this group in trying to solve my problem, I saw that zapping PRAM doesn't always work. If it doesn't work for you, I suggest you go thru all the threads that seem to apply to your problem, because other considerations (not necessarily solutions) are offered.
