Geforce fx5600 128mb fps

okey wth ?
I used to have a geforce 2 mx400 with 256mb ram and had 99fps in counter strike up to 100
I installed the MSI Geforce 5600fx 128mb a while ago
I even putted in extra mb ram
and now, after so much tweaks etc I've come to the conclusion that the fps of this 5600 isnt even anywhere near that geforce 2, when I play counter strike lets say in a kz map, I have a max of 30fps :/
this really affects my gameplay and I want this fixed, how do I do this ?
my system specs:
Pentium 4 1,5ghz
ECS motherboard
1GB ram
audigy soundblaster 2zs platinum pro
120GB HDD
300WAT power supply

tuning down the graphic detail in counter strike is not an option, it may be in ut2004 and so, but not in any half life mods
so basically I have to buy a new power supply ? :/
what is the point of buying a new graphics card for more framerates, if you have to buy basically a whole new computer ?

  • MSI GeForce FX5600-TD 256Mb Tv-Out, DVI

    Hallo!
    I have a AND XP 2000+, 512 DDR 266,  MSI KT3-Ultra, MSI GeForce FX5600-TD 256Mb Tv-Out, DVI
and a 450W psu. Win XP Professional sp1
I have a problem with games and when i tested in 3dMark.
    It's score bad.
    3dMark2003: 2312
All drivers are up to date and i have tried to reinstall all components
Can Somebody help me Please? ;(

sorry but the only way you will improve your score is to lose the MSI FX6500. This is a renault 5 in ferrari clothing. It simply does not have the necessary fill rate to compete with even a Ti4200, trust me I spent 2 weeks trying to get it running to spec.
Basically only an Ultra or FX5900 will improve it.
Nvidia boobed on the design of the Graphics processor, the card can throw out frames well beyong a ti4200 capability but because it cant fill them quick enough it cant maintain the framerate.....still dont believe me ? Try thi, run 3d MARK, any version, in 640X480, youll notice that the score doesnt improve dramtically. 640X480 should mean more FPS but still no fill rate so it cant process any quicker.
I am well pi**ed of with my FX5600.

  • Monitor for geforce fx5600

    Hello to all
I have a vid card MSI Geforce FX5600 VTDR128  and a monitor that alone it resists up to 800 x 600.
I want to modernize my monitor, what monitor do you think I should buy crt or lcd?
    Byron

CRT definitely if you're going to be playing games. The main drawback with LCDs at the moment apart from price, is that you're stuck with one resolution which is usually about 1280 x 1024 even in a 17" screen. I've just bought an EIZO T966 21" CRT which although pricey (it cost me €999) compared with say an Ilyama at around half that price, has many more features. One of the problems I can overcome with this monitor is to automatically resize the display area of MP games that run in 1024 x 768 with anti-aliasing options enabled. If I were to run them in the same resolution as my desktop settings, I would lose the anti-aliasing features. For the benefit of the uninitiated, anti-aliasing adds grey in varying degrees of lightness to the edges of images so that the jagged effect that you normally see is smoothed out. You can't do those things with an LCD monitor though because of the way the liquid crystal performs. Some useful info on the subject here

  • GeForce FX5600 128 - Causes BSOD and STOP Error

    Hi everyone,
I recently upgraded my Fathers computer from Win ME to XP (SP1), and I now cannot run Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. It ran perfectly under ME, and I haven't changed any hardware during the upgrade.
As soon as the game starts (plane on the runway) I get a blue screen and a 'STOP' error: *** STOP: 0x00000050 (0XC967C967, 0X00000000, 0X8053CDD1, 0x00000000)
By turning off all 3dfx functions in the game settings, or by turning off hardware acceleration in Windows we have managed to get into the game, but the graphics are poor and so slow its unplayable.
Apart from this, the system is working perfectly with no other problems when running normal windows apps. I have no other games to try the 3dfx functions on.
    The hardware configuration is:
    GeForce FX5600 128 graphics card
    512 mb RAM
    AMD Athlon 1.4Ghz processor.
    The software configuration is:
Direct X 9b (same version as was being used to run the game under ME)
    Nvidia drivers tried:
Nvidia VGA Driver 61.77 for Win XP/2000 (not WHQL)
Nvidia VGA Driver available through windows update (WHQL – though I can't remember the driver number)
Also tried an old driver 43.?? that came with the video card. The problem is always the same.
I have run dxdiag and initially it told me that the 61.77 drivers were not WHQL certified. After then running windows update it downloaded a driver which shows as WHQL certified (I do not know the version of this driver), I ran dxdiag again, and the system reported no problems. I successfully completed all direct draw and direct 3d tests under the dxdiag program, with no problems reported.
I have been in contact with Microsoft FS9 support initially, who later passed me to the operating system department as they had no luck in finding the fault. They tell me its a hardware issue and I should contact the manufacturer.
So far I have tried creating a (completely bare) parallel Windows XP installation and running the game in that, again the same problem occurs.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to resolve this problem? I have an opportunity this weekend to remove XP and go back to ME, which I am planning to do unless anyone has any thoughts on how I might fix this issue?
    Many thanks in advance, John

Been running the Memtest86+ overnight on one stick and it came up with some 1690 errors...
Just stuck the other in now and leaving it run for a couple of hours... Not holding my breath though. Already sent my supplier an email to expect them in the post for a refund. Time to go down the old branded RAM route. Any suggestions for rock solid RAM that won't break the bank?
    Thanks once again fellas,
    Niels

  • Geforce FX5600(256MB) Questions

    Hi,
I just purchased the GeForce FX5600 card model number FX5600-VTDR256 and have some questions regarding the card.
I have already read through the forums and could not find any answers so here's a new post.
I wanted to know 3 things.
    My First question:
On the back of the box it says E3:Fan Speed Monitoring and Warning
I can't find the software through with which I can monitor the fan speed and
    temperature of the card.
    Please help!
    My Second question:
My card has a Video_In option, I managed to attach my TV and the card through the Video lead and now I can Watch TV through the Media Center in WinXP.
Now is there a way to surf channels since my TV doesn't support S-Video
leads and the Video lead doesn't surf channels.
My cable TV doesn't come with a digital box or anything, I just get a RF connector lead that goes in the back of the TV and I scan for channels through the TV.
    My Third and last question:
When I install the Media Center II in Windows ME, at the end of the
setup I get an error message saying the WINDex.dll failed to self-register.
Afterwards when I run the program in Windows ME, I get a Director Script
error and have to quit the program.
Could anyone please guide me as to what I should do.
Please help me out, especially regarding the temperature problem and the
Media Center problem in Windows ME.

It should be in the nVidia settings under the advanced button and the slide out menu, should be the last one down, called temperature settings. You could try using the 3d Turbo Experience but it can be troublesome and bulky. I prefer to use Drivers from nVidia and the Coolbits Registry hack for the clock features

Don't really know the answer to that for sure but I would try using a VCR as your tuner and use the VCR's remote to surf. Perhaps someone's got a better answer ?(

Have you been here to download the latest?
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_detail.php?UID=446
It only says XP 2000, I have looked on every page but all the links point to the same file, it is an upgrade to Version 3, Maybe it will work, if not I will ask if there is an update for ME.

  • GeForce FX5600-VTDR128

    Hi,
I've been looking around for a new GFX card, I was looking for a 256MB card, but noticed the MSI GeForce FX5600-VTDR128 which came with a remote control. The remote sortta got my attention as I noticed it connects to the TV-Out socket (if there is a 256MB card I've missed could you please let me know, thanks!).
My question: Using the software and calbe that comes with the card (nice software bundle too!) can you use the remote on other (MSI and non-MSI) cards that have the TV-Out socket?
    Thanks for any help,
    Pete

    Hello:
sorry my english, I speak in spanish.
I brought this card a mounth ago, the remote controller is not a greatest thing in the world, this is very complete, it has a lot of functions, but the software blunde (included or feature) is to bad, is not fast. I think that I can use the remote controller for everything, but it is not (or I don´t know how do)
The card have a remote controller sensor with a wire. The conector of this wire is ONLY for this card (or another MSI, but not all MSI).
I hope help you, if you still have questions, write to me [email protected]
    Sebas.
    I have a question too,
Is posible to sintonize (tuning) the diferent channels with this card?

  • MSI GeForce 6200 128MB running DVI 1680x1050

    Hello,
My VGA is MSI GeForce 6200 128MB. VGA driver is GeForce 175.19
Monitor is Samsung T200 with native resolution 1680x1050 and DVI input.
When I set resolution to 1680x1050 using DVI output, desktop is streched wider than screen and I have to scroll down for taskbar or scroll right to show clock for example. Setting resolution at 1680x1050 using analog output, it looks fine except that desktop icons are slightly streched verticaly.
How can I get correct picture in DVI? Is it driver problem and what version is recommended to install?
    Thanks&Regards

Alrite thanks, I’ll see what I can do. A friend told me that older drivers might be more convenient for 6200 and he mentioned 91.31. So I might go with that.
Also browsing other forums I found this solution, and they said it will work well with static screens but not so well when playing games. Well this might be the last alternative, providing I don’t find solution with drivers.

  • MS6167 - Problems with NVIDIA GeForce FX5600 graphics card

    Hi all,
tried to install a Nvidia GeForce FX5600 old PC of mine that the kids use, mobo is MS-6167. Could not get this to work. States that it cannot get enough resources (in Windows XP, Device Manager). I have tried to force reasign of IRQ from the BIOS on reboot, and even removed the sound card.
Could this be a power issue, though I assume the card would just not work or crash.
    Any help apprecaited.
    Thanks,
    Bunnster

    "AMD's 750 Chipset
Power users looking for next-generation features such as AGP 4X /my marking/ and PC133 SDRAM support are currently out of luck on both AMD's Slot A and Intel's Slot 1 infrastructure, as chipsets that support both features are in the latter stages of sampling among motherboard manufacturers. Before a motherboard can tout such features, the motherboards' chipset must support them. All Athlon motherboards currently available ship with AMD's 750 chipset, which only officially supports PC100 SDRAM and the AGP 2X interface."

Ad libris: Meaning, I don't think your Nvidia card can do AGP 2X. Bad news could be you'll have trouble fitting the previous card. Your best bet would be to get a powerful PCI-slot only card.

  • GeForce 4ti4400 128mb

I have the MSI Geforce 4 ti4400 128mb AGP 4x. Lately my system has been freezing at random points... I've done memtest, and my memory isn't at fault... Asus seems to think that it's either the L2 cache on my processor, the northbridge on the motherboard, or the memory on the vid card. Often times after a freeze, sound will continue for several seconds after video has frozen... this leads me to believe it's a video issue. I've had a problem w/ bad ram on a vid card before, and symptoms were ALOT like these. Also note that my freezes appear to have ceased with having replaced my GF4 w/ my old GF2
    My specs are:
    Asus P4C800 Deluxe
    P4C 3.0ghz
    1gb Corsair TwinX 3200LLPT
    Audigy 2
2x WD Caviar HDs in Raid 0 via onboard Promise controller
5 80mm fans, 2 front mounted HD coolers... temps all under 40 degrees C.
    450w PS.
I have no IRQ conflicts... while my Audigy 2 and my firewire port do share an IRQ, that is quite simply because the Audigy 2 has the firewire built onto it, they MUST use the same IRQ... they plug in the same slot.
Nothing else shares my video card's irq.
So... any ideas? I'm pretty certain it's the vid card... and I'd much rather it be the vid card than the Processor or Mobo...

    Nebor,
Just humor me and list the IRQs please.
    Take Care,
    Richard
