[GeForce PCe] MSI 6800GT PCIe overclocking blocked HELP!!!!

I have 2 MSI 6800 GT in SLI mode. I tried to overclock them but the clock seems blocked: when I use Riva Tuner or the driver's control panel and I try to overclock it says me that driver has not passed the test;  so I tried to downclock them but it says me the same thing... I tried to do that with many driver versions (71.22,71.84,77.76,77.77) but the result was the same.
My hardware configuration is:
-DFI Lanparty Nf4 SLI-Dr
-AMD Athlon 64 4000
-2*512 MB RAM Kingstone ultra low latency ddr 400
-Maxtor Diamond Max 10 300 GB SATA
-Enermax Noisetaker 600W
I have windows xp professional corporate service pack 1
How can I do to unlock them?

As for overclocking you can use and or try COOL BITS
May be the car needs replacement wheels ?

  • [GeForce PCe] MSI NX6600GT PCi-e ?

    Hi there,
I have 2 MSI NX6600GT 128 running in SLi mode. When I goto use MSI Turbo Experience it comes up with a screen that says:
"MSIVGA.ocx initialization error". I have 71.84 drivers and all other drivers are installed. It also happened with the 66.93 drivers that came on the CD and so I updated.  I contacted MSI and they told me to read the forums here as there most likely would be a solution. I built this system from the ground up myself. I have had no troubles with it. I can play games like MVP2005 and Doom3 with no probs. But sometimes when I goto load up a saved game playing Silent Hunter 3 starts to initialize then goes to the desktop (this has happened very rarely). I haven't overclocked anything I won't be doing that. I only have a few games installed as I am taking things slowly. My GPU temps are 48c idle and after playing Doom 3 for about an hour are 60c. CPU is 35c and case temp is 43c. I have a 120mm fan blowing in from the front and 2 80mm fans exhausting. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Kick MSI Turdo Experience to the curb (get rid of it)
It's more of a sales gimmick, then really being usefull in most cases.
If it continues, you may want to start all over from scratch and get the latest drivers here nVidia Drivers
I always avoid drivers on the CD at all costs and the manufacturer's drivers as well. Unless of course there is a known problem or issue that mandates use of the manufacturer's drivers. Otherwise, always get the latest drivers from the chipset vendor.
Also, a bit tedious is trolling forums for any clues as to what everone else is using without issue, you'll at least have an educated head start.

  • [GeForce PCe] MSI GeForce NX7800GTX VIVO questions

Hey all!  I currently own a MSI 6600GT (128MB version) PCIe graphics card, and I was considering purchasing the 7800GTX sometime within the next six months to get the most out of my games.
I've seen that the 7800GTX has VIVO capabilities, and I've searched MSI's site as well as other sites trying to get more details, but I haven't been able to find any.  I also use my computer to run a small digital video editing business, and I've got an upcoming project to convert many VHS tapes to DVD.  I've used my Pinnacle MovieBox DV (connected via firewire) to do this in the past, but since it's not very reliable I was thinking using VIVO of the 7800GTX might work better.  From what I understand, I could hook up a VCR to either the composite video in or S-video in to convert the VHS to digital video.
So if anyone out there has used the video-in VIVO features, could you give me some details as to how it works?  Does the card include MSI software to capture video via VIVO?  Can I capture video as an uncompressed AVI or a DV AVI?  Would it be possible to capture video-in directly from Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5?
If anyone can help me out, I'd surely appreciate it.  If these things are possible, I'll prolly go on ahead and buy the NX7800GTX.  My Pinnacle MovieBox is supposedly "prosumer", but it really blows.  It locks up all the time, and then I have to start it over.  With all the VHS tapes I'll be converting, I don't have time for that!
    -Josh

The latter information about cards having different chips is unrelated to your problems. I have a sticky addressing the Pipline/Chip issue.
You can posts links, there is no restriction currently that I am aware of at this time. However, there have been discussions relating to new users and imposing a restriction until a post count has been reached.
As for your problem, provided your BIOS settings are correct, and you are using the latest nVidia Drivers this isn't something I've seen yet. If you could post some screenshots, that also might be helpful.
Please, also enter your profile settings, and put your hardware listing as a signature in the event this thread becomes lengthy, users wont have to go to the top or previous page to see your hardware.
Have you tried swapping the cards to see if the behavior changes? And to possibly expose a problem with one particular card?
Have you looked or posted in the nVidia forums?
Hopefuly someone will come along that's seen this or is aware of this. Perhaps it's just a driver setting somewhere. As you can see, without me actually seeing it, I'm guessing.

  • Weird 6800GT PCIe issues

    Hi,
I just got some new parts for my system which include the Gigabyte SLI motherboard and MSI 6800GT PCIe card.  Installing Windows was a pain, I think there may be something wrong with my memory as I would get BSODs during the install until I switched it to single channel mode.
Once I got it installed, I installed the nForce 4 drivers, followed by the newest nvidia whql forcewares.  My system is still a little unstable but for the most part, it's ok in Windows.  That is, until I try to do any sort of configuring or running of 3D apps.  For example, when I try and select the 6800GT tab in advanced display properties, it just hangs.  When I tell Windows to kill the process, it still stays there forever.  Exact same thing when I try and load 3d mark 05 or SiSoft Sandra.  I tried loading two games and they both crashed before they even got to the menu.
I'm going to try re-installing Windows, but I don't know if that's going to help.  I'm really worried my video card is screwed.  It's gonna be hard to narrow down this problem because none of my old components are compatible with the new system.
Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be or what I should try?
    Thanks,
    Adrian

No, only ran memtest on the old machine (with the same RAM).  I could run it on the new machine.
Even if there is a problem with the RAM, I'm thinking something else it at fault.  Either Windows is corrupted somehow or the video card has a fault.  At this point, I'm doubting that it's anything else.
CPU temps are at about 28 at idle.  This problem doesn't happen when I'm running a 3D app, I get app hangs and crashes on initialization, which to me sounds like the video card is issued a drawing operation and it fails.  It's not a driver issue either, I tried 3 different forceware drivers all with the exact same results.

    Filip,
Set your Desktop to 16bit color. There is nothing on your desktop in 32 bit color. All it does is slow your comp down. Remember that when you play a game your comp is still rendering your desktop in the background, and 32bit color uses more CPU cycles then 16bit color.
    Richard
P.S. The color setting of your desktop has nothing to do with the color settings of your game.

    antonio_zth,
MSI sells over a million Vid Cards a Month. There were a total of 350 vid cards with the wrong Pipelines and Vertex Units. I had one of them, so that only leaves 349 of them out there. By now all the Vid Cards in question should have been sent in to MSI and swapped out.
I would run Riva Tuner and see how many Pipelines and Vertex Units your Vid Card, if you have 16 Pipelines and 6 Vertex Units, then you have the correct card.

  • MSI Neo4 Platinum with MSI GF6600GT PCI-e Freezes on games

I'm having this serious problem that my new build system freezes on games. Sometimes I can play for a few hours and sometimes I can play only a few minutes before the system freezes completely. Only a hardware reset helps in this case.
    This is my hardware setup:
    MSI Neo4 Platinum
    MSI GF6600GT PCI-e
    2 x 512MB DDR400 memory(in dual mode)
    AMD 3200+ 64-bit processor
    Sound Blaster Audigy
    DVD Writer
    Floppy
    I'm using Windows XP SP2
    What I tryd:
Tested with other RAM modules, same trouble
    Reinstalled windows xp, same trouble
Tryd all kind of driver versions, same trouble
Flashed bios to 1.9, same trouble
Put a Zalman Cooler on the Video card (temperature now between 40 and 60 degrees in games instead of 80-100 degrees), same trouble
This is where my questions come:
There are two hardware components I cannot switch to try:
The mainboard and the Video card. Whitch one is most likely to be broken??
I have read in the manual of the mainboard that the PSU should have at least 18A on the 12+ signal. My PSU only haves 15A there. While I doubt this results in problems like this I still like to know if it does!
Please help me out on this one!

Have tried older drivers for you GFX, I find the late 6XXX work better for most games. You mite want to check the system is stable with:
    Prime95, Memtest86, 3D mark 03 & 05.
You mite be having the same problems as "easlern", his games would lock up. This was due to to a problem with onboard sound Sound Blaster.

At that moment I didn't even know what was actually on my board, but I knew it was a generic card I was probably never going to use anyway, and I didn't recall getting any sound card updates for this board. So I looked in device manager, and bingo: AC97 device under multimedia devices.      I immediately did two things to completely eliminate the rascal: updated the driver for it and promptly went to BIOS and disabled the sucker. Also disabled SATA group 2 (slots 3 and 4), the Marvell LAN because I only use one ethernet anyway (the nVidia one, which from what I was reading, was probably the more robust of the two), both RAID controllers (actually I had disabled them earlier to skip the annoying RAID setup screen), and put the PCIe bus back to 100MHz (rogue: I was wondering about possible damage over time with this too high too, so I was glad to try setting it back to normal!) Also ran Driver Cleaner to rip out the detonators even though I was putting in another nVidia, and then put in the 6800GT and installed drivers. (In case you were interested, my 3dMark05 score went from 3511 under the 6600GT to 4939 under the 6800GT! I now run in 1280x1024 at max effects and I'm completely spoiled in one night already!   )
Anyway, one of these myriad, desperate attempts must have worked because I get neither audio stutters (should have been a freaking clue in the first place, duh!) nor lock ups.
Since this is the first PC I've built, I was certain I had to have screwed something up hardware-wise or found some combination that had incompatibilities. If it WAS just the freaking sound card driver I'm going to leave this place in shame and never post again!    In my defense, the MSI Update utility didn't show any updated sound drivers for me, and I had assumed it was being pre-empted by my SB Live in any case.
I was convinced this problem was (if it is indeed gone) a video card issue but I can't say it ever was without putting the 6600 back in and running for several hours. I'm going to bet it was the AC97 though because nVidia boards have always been fantastic for me, I haven't had any actual motherboard issues, my RAM and CPU are just fine, and Win2k has never let me down.
Don't assume anything, though, I've learned.
One thing to note: when I was checking out the AC97, I noticed it was *sharing* IRQ 20 with the nForce NIC detector (might have a different name, I can't remember right now). Apparently this is a capability of Win2k to share IRQs but it kind of added to my suspicions anyway.
I'll let you know how the next few sessions go and whether this issue is still an issue

  • MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum or MSI 6600GT PCI-E ?

    Dear Sirs,
    I've just bought a MSI NX6600 TD GT 128MB PCI-E and
    Motherboard MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum.
I Think that one of these is defective bacause WinXP
can't work with MSI original drivers, MSI old
drivers or Nvidia drivers. The system reboots.
I think that i've tried almost everything and this
card only works badly with VesaSave driver (Generic
    Windows driver).
Could a defective video card works ?
Is it possible that the problem is the Motherboard ?
    Any idea ?

  • MOVED: KT333 Ultra; fuzzy logic, 1.6xp overclocking problem help !!!!!

This topic has been moved to Overclockers & Modding Corner.
KT333 Ultra; fuzzy logic, 1.6xp overclocking problem help !!!!!

Not that I am an expert o/c but here are some thoughts on the matter.
My comments are based on my experiences of the KT3 Ultra2 which is basically the same as the Ultra version.
This mobo does not have the ability to lock the PCI/AGP bus freely from the FSB. However, it does have dividers. At 133 a 1/4 divider kicks in. Above 152FSB the 1/5 divider works, so that at 166 the PCI & AGP buses will be back in sync. If you are o/c your cpu, don't go from 133 to 145, etc since you will be running the PCI/AGP buses further out of whack. Just go to either the mid 150's or to 166 in one jump. The other problem / issue relates to your cpu. From what you say you have one of the old Palominos which are not great o/c's. I would personally o/c your cpu from the BIOS rather than 'Fluffy Logic' which I would tend to stay away from.
With a 166FSB cpu a very stable o/c would be 175-177 beyond 180 gets decidedly tricky.
    Hope this helps

  • MSI 6800gt problems

Last week i baught a MSI 6800gt to replace my old mx440. All was going well for the first day however when i went to play any games or anything the next day my computer would crash( this appears to be a result of the screen resolution changing). I got the latest drivers off the msi site which didnt fix it so i got the lates ones from the nvidia website which had no effect either. I also did a compelte re-install of windows but it did nothing.
When i first put the card in i could run all the 3dmark03 tests however now it gets to the cpu tests and displays an error message(cant rermember the exact message). Also I cant load up any farcry levels( computer restarts its self) and in brothers in arms if i try to change the screen resolution it either turns my monitor off and i cant turn it back on without restsrting or makes the screen flicker black and orange. If i do manage to get the game to run when i exit out windows stays on the same resolution as i was playing and if i try to change it it tells me i have to restart the computer.
Can anyone help me. Did i get a dodgy card? or does it have compatiblity issues with my motherboard? im fresh out of ideas

Im now running a new motherboard - ABIT NF7-S not that this has helped matters. This involved formatting and re-installing windows, with the latest nforce drivers and graphics drivers(v71.89) all was good for the first time i ran my computer but after re-booting it was back to its same old problems.
I tryed my card in my mates computer (A64 3500+, 1Gig Geil RAM, Antec True480 PSU) who also has a MSI 6800GT which worked fine with both mine and his cards. His card however wouldnt work in my computer. After putting the card back into my computer i disconnected my 2nd HDD, Case fans and Hardcano, put my CPU back to stock settings, and pulled out my VT and network cards,  all of which had no effect. This is driving me up the wall, all i want to do is to be able to play Farcry and HL2 and it wont work Interestingly enough i can play DX7 games with no issues however it appears that anything using DX8 or 9 wont work. HL2 turns my monitor off and farcry restarts my computer. I have even tryed changing resolutions and refresh rates of my monitor (Samsung 753DFX) not that it made any difference.
If anyone is having similar problems and managed to fix them can you let me know how.

  • MSI 6800GT

a have a NX 6800GT-T2D256E that looks not like the other MSI 6800GT-T2D256E... on the MSI site is the VGA colored red, and has a big red cooler... But my 6800GT is greed and looks like a NVIDIA 6800GT reference card.. ??? is it a fake 6800GT one?

That copper cooler has one huge draw back... it uses thermal pads for the memory cooling, -AND- the GPU temp overheats the memory, because of the ONE LARGE sink design... I think... I have noticed more and more of these red PCB MSI 6800GTs with this cooler and no one seems to get above 1070 or so on the memory... I am so going to go with the new Vantech or Logisys VGA copper cooler and ram-sinks for this... this is a good card! it's got Samsung memory on it and my cards don't OC worth anything... and I think it's this cooler... also, the mosfets have a large thermal pad between them and the copper sink on my cards... and they run HOT... I can't help but to think that is not the best way to make good use of that copper cooler... thermal pads are just not great heat conductors...  hmmm... well, anyways...  I am thinking about stripping the coolers off of my PNY 6800GT and trying them on my MSI... it's got the reference cooler on it... and it OC's like a BEAST. lol.
I was alll psyched that this copper cooler would be awesome... but am pretty bummed that it's got thermal pads...and it's noisy as hell at the all but the fastest fan speed. what is up with that.  wow... anyways.  I hope others have having better luck with these cards than I am.

  • MSI 6800GT-T2D256E and power problem?

I've got ASUS A8N-Deluxe mobo, Nexus 400W PU and new, bright and shiny MSI 6800GT-T2D256E
    And I get the damned:
"The NVIDIA system sentinel is reporting that the nvidia powered graphics card is not receiving sufficient power. To protect your hardware from potential damage or causing a potential system lockup, the graphics processor has lowered its performance to a level that allows continued safe operations."
    message...
Tried diffrent lines from PU, different drivers, nothing. I get the message right after login.
One funny little thing: there's a sticker on the power cable that came with the card (close to the 2x3 connector) that says:
For use with RADEON X800 series graphics card only.
Could this be the problem or are the pwr cables the same for 6800's and X800's? Card works the same with or without pwr cable.
Looking from the left side of an open case (w cable attced to the card) there are two wires going into the leftmost holes of the 2x3 connector - yellow (top) and black (bottom).

I have 20pin and 4 pin pwr connectors connected to the mobo.
    Any ideas?

    Update:
Tried HEC 475W psu - didn't help. Went back to the store, they tested the card and it seemed to run just fine.
So it's not the card nor the power cord problem. Guys at the strore said - get better psu. But I've tried better psu?!
So I threw out everything exept HDD - no luck.
This brings me to another question. I keep noticing peaple talking not just about watts but amps. My Nexus and that
HEC I tested produce 14 and 15 amps respectively.
Sadly in a small country stores don't keep expensive psu's on they shells. So I should order one. I want to be sure before that.
Any comments on the amperage issue?
