GeForceFX 5200 tdr-128 overclock problems

I have a msi k7n2 mobo with the last drivers (nforce2) and bios, I'm runing my msi GeForceFX 5200 tdr-128 with the last drivers and bios too on windows xp sp1 with the last updates, the system is runing perfectly with no problems at all, but when I try to overclock my video card using that D.O.T (dynamic overclock tecnology) my windows looks up with memory blow , the mostpowerfull option is commander, with 275 mhz on 3d core clock (250 by default) and 440 mhz on memory (400 by default) the 2d clock stay the same. But I can overclock my 3d clock up to 295mhz with no problems but if I put more 5mhz on memory clock the system loocks up in 30-45 min .
WHY CANT I OVERCLOCK MY DAMN MEMORY CLOCK???
The msi site says it is full compatible with the D.O.T and I'm using a MSI MOBO dammit
And yes... I have a cooler on the video card, and left 2 side cooler on my cpu case (1 on the dual memory and 1 on the video card) plus 2 back exaust and a vulcano 9 on my athlon 2.4 xp.
what can I do???
I think maybe the sollution it is the raise the agp voltage but im afraid

40MHz on your ram is quite large anyways, and if you dont have ram-sinks on your VGA card (both sides) that might be a good solution,  also stock cooling on the GPU with large increasements is not a good idea.  I would not overclock the 5200 card anyways your taking a risk of blowing something up for no performace increase that card is pretty much all budget there is not much helping that card sorry.

    Thanks for your reply.
If it's an hardware thingy then, why even in 3D the fan doesn't spin up? Not even when the core is o/cked?
Beats me. Anyway I'll try to add another fan (5000RPM) to see if it gets better

  • 5200 tdr-128 voltage

Hello everyone... I've got a problem: bought a new mobo, in the manual it says ONLY +1.5v AGP CARDS, so OK, I put in my tdr-128 (which I suppose it's 1.5v, since it fits the slot) and turn on the pc, works fine for some 15 minutes but then it turns off all of a sudden. Next thing I know, the power supply is dead, and the vga card too (after some really beautiful fireworks).
so, well... since I don't really know what happened, I'd like to know if the agp voltage of the tdr-128 is indeed 1.5v, I can't find this information anywhere...
    Thanks in advance,

  • FX5200 TDR-128 Win98/SE Boot Problem

    NEED HELP ! Quickly !
I have purchased a MSI FX 5200 TDR-128 VGA card.
After I put it in the AGP slot the system wont boot.
This happends on Win 98 SE OS. Everything stops when Win 98 logo appears, or some moments earlier (I try with restart several times - black screen C:\).
I have Detonator Drivers 45.23, installed with previous VGA card. Logicaly, this is the same drivers (or almost same) like the MSI VGA Drivers on MSI "support" CD's.
I'm sure that problems is in something "connected" with MSI VGA, not in rest of hardware.
    Why I'm sure ?
Because on same PC, with OS WinXP Pro SP-1 everythings works FINE !!!
I'm very disappointed in this MSI product.
P.S. I try same VGA on two others PC with Win 98 SE, with almost same hardware components lake below. SYSTEM WONT BOOT !!!

    help???
p.s. i tried to rename smartdrv like "ricin" suggested, it made everything work very slow, and windows won't open correctly until i renamed it back (tried it before installing the nvidia driver)
Perform a clean boot like this:
    1. Boot into Safe Mode.
    2. Go to Start > Run, type "MSCONFIG" (without quotes), click OK.
    3. Checkmark "Selective Startup" and remove the checkmark from all the fields that you see there.
    4. Click the "Advanced" button and checkmark the field "Limit memory to" and add "512" in the MB field.
    4. Restart and see if it will go boot to the desktop. If it does, replace the checkmark in one field only in the msconfig utility and restart. Repeat until it hangs again. This narrows it down to where the problem lies.
Actually, Win98 and Win ME is cabable of reading 1GB of memory, so once we've solved your problem, you can replace the 2GB that's you've got so that you can use it in XP and simply prevent Windows from finding it by changing the setting from 512MB to 1GB in the Advanced field.
Have you tried running the program that you want to use in Win 98 in XP "Compatibility Mode"? More info here

  • GeforceFX 5200 & 3D!Turbo Experience

Just got my hands on a lovely MSI GeforceFX 5200 128mb DDR 8911-20 which is really a MS-8907 acording to the board. The problem is I just can't seem to get 3D!Turbo Experience to monitor the fan speed and gpu temp it reports the CPU speed correctly but not the memory speed.
The MSI Website says the Card supports 3D!Turbo Experience but reading these forums I have begun to wonder. I have tried with the MSI Drivers and the latest Nvidia ones both with no joy. I have also done a Live Update and every peice of software is at the latest revision levels.

  • 5200 td-128 dvi-i not working

Greetings. I just got a 5200 TD-128 with the DVI-I output. I connected it to my LCD but there is no display. I connected another LCD to the DSUB (analog) port and it works fine. When I go to the display properties, I can only select Analog or TV-OUT from the drop-down menu. There is no option to select Digital.
I just installed the driver that came on the MSI CD-ROM. Do I need to get the latest driver from NVIDIA? Or does this sound like a hardware problem?
    Thanks for any help!

I would try to see if there is an updated MSI driver first, run Driver Cleaner first with System Restore OFF, make sure to clean ALL nVidia video driver off the system, then reboot, cancel any prompts to load drivers and install MSI's latest (if there is one)...
If that doesn't work then repeat the above process with nVidia's latest...
If that doesn't work then it's probly a hardware problem and I'd take the card back for replacement...

  • Why system hang when install GeforceFX 5200?

i am using the Asus A7V8X mainboard, Processor is the AlthonXP 1700+. Ram is Kingston 256 DDR 400.
before when i use the geforce 2mx is no problem and good at using in WinXP. But, nearly time i was buy the MSI - 128MB DDR GeforceFX 5200 8X Graphics Card and try install it. When i install the driver come with cd bundled, the system was hang even i try restart and try install again but the problem still exist. then, i was go to the MSI offical website to download the newest driver again and try install again oso cannot. I have already done all i can do is update the vga driver and install VIA 4in1 but the problem still exist here. izzit my mainboard cannot compatible with the GeforceFX graphics card ?
So, i have hope technican here can tell me what the problem is and how can solve this problem...
    thx you .

Go to http://www.driverheaven.net and download "Driver Cleaner" Utility. follow the instructions on removing drivers from previous installs.
Do not use the MSI Drivers, go to nVidia's website directly for VGA Drivers.
Make sure you have the drivers downloaded to a directory prior to running driver cleaner so you can immediately install them afterwards.

KT333 Ultra; fuzzy logic, 1.6xp overclocking problem help !!!!!

Not that I am an expert o/c but here are some thoughts on the matter.
My comments are based on my experiences of the KT3 Ultra2 which is basically the same as the Ultra version.
This mobo does not have the ability to lock the PCI/AGP bus freely from the FSB. However, it does have dividers. At 133 a 1/4 divider kicks in. Above 152FSB the 1/5 divider works, so that at 166 the PCI & AGP buses will be back in sync. If you are o/c your cpu, don't go from 133 to 145, etc since you will be running the PCI/AGP buses further out of whack. Just go to either the mid 150's or to 166 in one jump. The other problem / issue relates to your cpu. From what you say you have one of the old Palominos which are not great o/c's. I would personally o/c your cpu from the BIOS rather than 'Fluffy Logic' which I would tend to stay away from.
With a 166FSB cpu a very stable o/c would be 175-177 beyond 180 gets decidedly tricky.
    Hope this helps

  • Watch TV with 5200 VTD 128 - Coaxial to RCA ?

    Hello!!
I want to know if there is any option to use my video card fx 5200 VTD 128 to watch tv.  I want to know if there is a connector that converts Coaxial to RCA Inputs...because I receive the coaxial cable from my tv provider, but I have RCA inputs in my video card....so is there any option, or should I buy a TV Tuner card?
    Thanks!!!

hmmm.. AFAIK 'coaxial' is an adjective for a type of cable ~only~ (as in a coaxial cable), not a type of plug/socket standard.   Also, the card requires a composite video signal, while signal from an aerial is an RF signal.  The VTDR model can take an RF signal because it has an inbuild TV tuner.  But you can use any ol' VCR as a TV tuner.  Connect the cable from the aerial into the the Aerial-in (RF-in) on your VCR, and an RCA cable from the video-out on the VCR to the video-in on the card.
    Tony.

Overclocking Problems on K8N Neo Plat

As I had said that even when HTT is set 200 and memory divider used is 1:1 on my Corsair XMS (which was plugged in in my nF4 SLi mobo and has TCCD Ram chips) which is rated 2-2-2-5 at 200Mhz DDR and processor at stock speeds and voltage, memtest shows errors and system doesn't boots in windows.
Also my Ram sticks are rated 2.60V but when Vdimm set at auto Motherboard pumps 2.70V !! what's the problem , I use version 1.7 BIOS on my MSI K8N Neo Platinum
Is that going to harm my RAM

  • MSI Ti-4200 128 MB possible overclocking problem

    I have a:
    QDI Kudoz 7E/333A mobo
    AMD Athlon 2000+ (Palomino)
    MSI Ge-Force Ti-4200 128 MB
    512 MB Ram@333
Maxtor 160 GB HDD UATA 133 8MB Cache
Western Digital 40 GB GDD UATA 100 2MB Cache
    SB Live Audigy 2 NX
    Nec DVDR/W 3520
    Nec DVD-ROM 5500
    Windows XP SP 2
    NVidia Detonator (Forceware) 66.93
    Coolbits2
I had overclocked my Ti-4200 to 285MHz Core and 585MHz RAMDAC using the coolbits registry key (boot settings). Everything worked fine for about a month, I have ran several 3DMark tests (mostly 2003) and many "heavy" games (Doom 3, Far Cry, HL2, Warhammer:DOW, etc) and no problems occured (crashes or weird graphics). The 3DMark 2003 score from 1500 now is 1700 and I am (was) quite happy about it. Yesterday I removed the 512 Ram and re-installed it after a while (had to remove the card also) and the PC, without having any problems at all (I was playing Dungeon Siege a few hours ago) suddenly, while in BIOS and DOS, the screen is filled with white dots (looks like Pac-Man    ) and while loading the XP logo I see thin vertical lines (red and yellow) and then the monitor closes while the PC still works. I tried running in safe mode, it loaded but I still had these lines on the screen. I removed the DVD-ROM and the WD HDD just in case (350W PSU) but still had the same story. I installed a Club 3D Radeon 9600 Pro 256 MB and everything worked fine. I didn't install any Catalyst Drivers, I removed the coolbits from the registry and the NVidia drivers, re-installed the Ti-4200 and still I have the same problem. The card looks fine, no broken pins or anything. I also thought about a virus but this can't be, I triple-checked everything I installed and no viruses were found (and the Radeon worked).
I fear the overclocking was not so good after all but I can't be sure.
    Any ideas?
    Thanx in advance.

Proves a theory im made at least, MSI makes cheap / fault video ram, your card is a gonner pretty much, those vertical lines and monitor shuitting down are known as screen corruptions that occur when the video ram is fried (in most cases), did you overclock it by 10%? Im wondering if you can RMA a card since MSI does guarentee 10% overclock on some cards so I here but I cant be sure, someone else needs to answer that question as for MSI, if your going to overclock, dont buy from them, Im quite peeved at MSI because the memory on their cards cant even handle stock speeds let alone overclocked ones.

  • FX 5200 T-128 problem

I recently bought a nVIDIA GeForce FX5200 T-128 card, which claims to support dual link DVI on the manual, but how is that remotely possible when there is only one physical connector on the card, which happens to be analogue???????????????
    Please help!!!
    Cheers

If there is only a regular analogue VGA connector on the card, then you have gotten some cut down version of it. Sometimes common with cards sold as an OEM part. If the place that sold it to you described it as being dual monitor capable then you have the full right to return it for the right model. If you have the money you might want to get a more expensive card too, as FX-5200's are very poor performers for games. That is, if you play games much. Good luck either way.
