Gen 1, Update 2.2 and Gmail

I have a Gen 1 ipod that i updated to 2.2 (where my iPod got wiped, No biggie). Gmail was working fine as my Mail account before the upgrade to 2.2 (from 1.1.4) but now with the same settings (supplied by Gmail) it has the error message that says some thing like
"Can't contact imap server"
Any one else had this?
Any one know where to start fixing the prob?

Seems to be an Apple or FB app problem. Nothing you can do but wait for it to be fixed.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Can't Login to YouTube on Apple TV (3rd Gen) (YT and Gmail merged)

So, I am unable to log in to my YouTube account on my Apple TV (3rd Gen). I have read a lot of suggestions and nothing has helped. In like 2006 I got my YouTube User Name, then in like 2009 I got my Gmail. Google bought YouTube, they merged so I have a YouTube UN and Gmail Account. I've tried logging in with each. I've tried using the the 2-step verification, and application specific password. But to no avail, not working. Im getting either this Username can't be used on this device for the gmail account log in info. And unable to login with this Username/password for YouTube UN.
Anyone have any suggestions! This is really frustrating!

I had problems back way back in the day with my gmail login so I made a new one (youtube user) for test and that worked fine

I have exactly the same problem. I have tried almost everything and I am nowhere near an Apple shop as I am working in Africa.

I updated to ios 6 on my iPod touch earlier and had the same issue. I think iCloud has been backing mine up though. I freaked out because all 500 of my photos were gone and my stupid self didnt do a back up... But then they all reappeared :..) Maybe i just got lucky? Good luck though..

The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great recommendations for troubleshooting the issue you are describing:
Get help with the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If you see a solid color screen (black, white or blue)
Plug in your device to a power source. If you see the low-battery screen when you plug in, let your device charge for at least 10 minutes (20 minutes for iPad) before using it.
Reset your device while it's plugged in.
If resetting doesn’t fix the issue, restore your device.
If you still see the issue after you restore, contact Apple Support.

First I would charge it for an hour and then:
- Have you tried resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
- Next would be to place the ipod n recovery mode and then try to restore it via iTunes. For recovery mode see:

You should always have your apps on your computer. If you have failed to keep a copy of the old app versions, then you cannot get them back at all.

The Connection Status at the top of the Mail Connection Doctor window shows a red dot () and "Mail was unable to connect to the Internet."
Mail Connection Doctor shows all green dots () in the Status column

I tried to send a message to anyone but it won't work even when before I would be able to send messages but something weird happened that made my messages not delivered. 2.Download the iPod Touch 3G 4.3.2 Firmware to your desktop.
3.Go to your iPod summary, then hold shift.
4.Keep holding shift and click Restore.

You can get iOS 5
Siri is not realeased for the iPod.
You can use iCloud with yur iPod with iOS 5
To also use iCloud with your computer you need Lion for a Mac and at least Vista for a PC.
SOme users have rported some slowness and shartr batter life with iPOS 5 and some Music app problem.

I have an iPod touch 4th gen and it updated by itself to iOS6 without a wifi connection. When I unlocked it, it told me to connect to iTunes. So, I updated the software and when the update was finished, my wifi button was greyed out. I'm cant turn on wifi

After it was updated, my wifi button was greyed out and I don't know why. I sent it in to get fixed and the Apple store did NOTHING. I still have about 48 days left on my one year waranty and I don't know what to do to fix the problem. Please, does anyone know how to fix this issue without selling it or replacing it? I've tried all the troubleshooting techniques and nothing is working. Someone help.
