Gen 3 X1 Carbon drive increase/max

Okay, i'm more than a bit of a packrat, but I need more than the 512 GB max that Lenovo currently offers in the X1.  I currently have a 1 TB SSD in my T540p and i'm using about 3/4s of it. Has anyone discovered a way to get 1 TB of storage (as a single drive) in an X1 or is there knowledge of any future release date where Lenovo may offer it? Not that I'm a model, but even Samsung is now offering 2 TB 2.5" SSD (SATA) at pricing that's only roughly double that of their 1 TB 2.5" SSD (vs. exponentially more) so there must be increasing consumer demand (perhaps due to video or whatever).

Good day.
The only type of storage drive the Gen3 X1 Carbon can use is an m.2 2280 format SSD.
The largest capacity I'm currently finding is 512GB.
Regards.

    Whatever the problem is you no longer have a bootable system. You need to try reinstalling OS X.
    Reinstall Snow Leopard without erasing the drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
    If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
    Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
    Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Increasing max-streaming-connections-per-session has slow acknowledge response?

    Our application is a Flex GUI with a WebLogic Server (BlaseDS) on a private network.  We were originally using IE 6, but have upgraded to IE 8.
    I am trying to use publish/subscribe messaging to monitor lengthy processes on the server and received incremental data.  With 1 such process everything works fine.  But we want to allow the user to subscribe to more than 1 message destination.  So I increased the "max-streaming-connections-per-session" (default is 1) in the services-config.xml file
         <channel-definition id="process-notification-streaming-amf"
              class="mx.messaging.channels.StreamingAMFChannel">
              <endpoint url=https://{server.name}:{server.port}/{context.root}/messagebroker/streamingnotificationamf"
              class="flex.messaging.endpoints.StreamingAMFEndpoint"/>
              <properties>
                   <user-agent-settings>
                        <user-agent match-on="MSIE" kickstart-bytes="2048"
                             max-streaming-connections-per-session="3" />
                   </user-agent-settings>
              </properties>
         </channel-definition>
    If we leave max-streaming-connections-per-session as the default value of 1 and try to subscribe to another message destination we get an error indicating limit has been reached:
         [BlaseDS]Endpoint with id 'process-notification-streaming-amf' cannot grant streaming connection to FlexClient with id '7FFC82DE-etc ' because max-streaming-connections-per-session limit of '1' has been reached.
         We upgraded to IE8 as documentation indicates IE8 allows for an increase of max-streaming-connections-per-session, where IE 6 is limited to 1.  But increasing max-streaming-connections-per-session does not quite solve the problem.  We have 3 consumers; consumer1, consumer2, consumer3.  For each of these consumers, we add event listeners for MessageAckEvent.ACKNOWLEDGE and MessageEvent.MESSAGE.
         We call consumer1.subscribe().  When we receive the acknowledge message, we call consumer2.subscribe() (likewise with consumer3)
         The problem is it takes over 2 minutes to receive the acknowledge message from the call to consumer1.subscribe().  (With max-streaming-connections-per-session set to 1, the acknowledge message is received in a few seconds.)
         So, increasing max-streaming-connections-per-session removes the error about reaching a limit, but it appears to come with a cost of a big delay in a long delay on the call to subscribe?  Or is there something we are missing?

    I guess I will answer my own question.  Hopefully this will be useful to someone else in the future...
    The problem was coming from IE being limited to 1 connection by the registry.  The solution can be found at:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282402
    I manually performed the steps to update the registry, though microsoft provides a "Fix It"; MicrosoftFixit50098.msi
    One other key element was to make sure to have kickstart-bytes="2048".

  • Can the 1st gen MBA's hard drive be replaced?

    I have been reading lots about the SSD's on the MacBook Pro's. I own a 1st gen MBA equipped with a SATA drive. My question is: Can the HD be switched out to a SSD? and if so, will Apple do it or does one have to resort to a third party? Just curious, thanks

    After reading this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10630288 and the Macworld review of the Runcore SSD here: http://www.macworld.com/article/145112/2009/12/runcoressdupgrade.html I took the plunge and bought the Runcore for $415. I think the Macworld review was right that the MBA 1st Generation is about 30% faster with the SSD replacing the PATA drive. I've got an extra 40GB of space as well.
    The Runcore package has everything you need to do the swap. New SSD, an empty case with either PATA ZIF or SATA II LIF interface. It even has a screwdriver. You swap the drives and run Carbon Copy Cloner and you are back in business.
    I bought my SSD here: http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=80000AE0-1247088390
    Hope this helps!

  • IPod nano 4th gen - Apple Mobile Device Driver issue

    I have an iPod Touch that connects and syncs perfectly with iTunes but I can't find any way of doing the same with my wife's iPod Nano(4th gen).
    Whenever I connect the nano it appears under Universal Serial Bus Controllers as Apple Mobile Device USB Driver but with the dreaded Yellow Exclamation mark.
    I've tried:
    The 5Rs
    Different cables
    Different ports
    Disabling drivers
    Uninstalling drivers
    Removing all Apple software (in the correct order) and reinstalling
    The only error message I get, other than the Exclamation Mark, is when I check the Driver Properties, it shows "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
    If I click on Properties, Driver and Update Driver, Install from specific location I see:
    Apple iPod USB Driver Version 6.0.9999.40 (12/11/2008) and
    Apple iPod USB Driver Version 6.0.9999.61 (11/05/2012) and
    USB Mass Storage Device
    Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what I can try?

    The code 10 might be caused by old driver componentry "stuck" in the bowels of your OS. If that's what is going on, we might be able to get past this ... but I'm afraid it's a bit of a performance.
    First, go into "My Computer". Go "Tools > Folder Options". Go to the view tab.
    Make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is selected.
    Make sure "Hide extensions for known filetypes" is unchecked.
    Make sure "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" is unchecked.
    Click OK.
    Now in "My Computer", open "Local Disk C:" or whichever drive your Operating System is installed on.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "system32" folder.
    Open the "DRVSTORE" folder.
    In there look to see if you have either of the following two folders:
    netaapl_(LongStringOfNumbers)
    usbaapl_(LongStringOfNumbers)
    If you find either of them, drag them out onto the desktop. (Don't touch any other files or folders you see in there.)
    Now go back into the "system32" directory.
    Open the "Drivers" directory.
    Look for either of the following two files:
    netaapl.sys
    usbaapl.sys
    If you see either of them in there, drag them out onto the desktop. (Again, don't touch any other files or folders you see in there.)
    Now restart the PC. Try a complete uninstall/reinstall of itunes and related components as per the following document:
    Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    ... and then try connecting the nano again. Any better luck this time?

  • Need to increase max process in the init file. Please check and correct me

    Friends,
    We have Oracle9iR2 database in the RHEL AS 3.0 box.
    Sometimes we are getting ORA-00020, means the max process is reached.
    We have planned to increase the max process from 150 to 250 in the init.ora file.
    i think the init.ora will be in /u01/app/oracle/admin/ourdb/pfile/
    correct me if i am wrong......
    Step1: vi init.ora file and change the process from
    processes=150
    to
    processes=250
    while the database is running.
    Step2:shutdown the database and start the database.
    is there only 2 steps or i have to shutdown the db at the beginning itself?
    Or i have to take any precautions. Our server is HP ML-370 with dual processor.
    Thanks

    1. Why can't i just edit the init.ora file to change the processes=250 while the db is running?
    you can edit the init.ora file.
    If i edit the init.ora file by shutting down the db will there any problem
    not problem
    init.ora file is text file you can edit easly
    spfilesid.ora file is binary file you can not edit directly ... if you want to edit spfile file first change in pfile then create spfile from pfile...
    hope this helps

  • Increase max number of adjustments?

    Does anyone know of a way to increase the maximum number of adjustment bricks for any one type of adjustment? I believe the current limit is 5, but sometimes when working with ver complex photos I find the need to go beyond this limit. In particular, I'd really like to be able to increase the number of color bricks. I am already combing color adjustments within a single brick as much as possible, with separate red, blue or yellow adjustment, but frequently I'll find that the red/oranges within a photo require very different adjustments and I find that adjustments to one eye-dropped color ends up having too much of effect on another (close but not quite) eye-dropped color. I've tried limiting these interactions as much as possible with the range slider, but it seems to have very limiting effect.
    Is there a plist for bumping the max up to 6?
    Thanks!

    had to implement a quick & dirty program from OSS (note 370021) to fix this.

    Hi,
    Max size of PNG is seems to be limited by 333 KB. But now we can create LabVIEW snippet with code inside of PNG and the size may be much bigger. I already got error two or three times. Can you please increase allowed size (to 5 MB, for example - its more than enough). The only size should be limited (for example, to 1024 x 768).
    Thank you,

  • Installing UltraNav Driver increases boot up time

    I'm using a Thinkpad W520 with Windows 7 and a Crucial M4 256GB SSD (not sure if this is also part of the cause of the problem). Normally the boot up time is between 20 to 25 seconds. However, when I update the UltraNav driver to the latest version, the boot up time is significantly increased to around 50 seconds. And when I use Device Manager to roll back the version of the UltraNav driver to PS/2 Compatible Mouse, the boot up time is normal again.
    My question is: has anyone else also observed this incompatibility issue between UltraNav with (Windows 7 or SSD)? Is there a solution to this problem?

    It sounds like some conflict in drivers somewhere. What if you install the drivers, but uncheck the startup entries in MSCONFIG?

  • Airport Extreme AC (5th Gen) and USB Hard Drives

    I just got a new iMac.
    Previously I had three external hard drives chained together directly via firewire 800 on a Mac Mnin. In the old configuration, Time Machine backed up to one of HDs pretty quickly. Since the new iMac doesn't have firewire - I took those same hard drives - using their USB 2 connections and put them on a hub connected to Airport Extreme. I see them under shared drives and access is great - but the back up speed is not very fast. Is there a better way to connect these drives for the purposes of Time Machine backups? They are formated Mac OS exteneded, etc
    Thanks.

    The confusing part to me was that the new Extreme has a USB2.0 spec?
    It is easier and cheaper.
    USB3 spec causes 2.4ghz wireless issues.
    See http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2423604,00.asp
    In a wireless router.. that aint good.. and some manufacturers have had issues.. Asus for example. Their USB3 are useless in several of the routers because they did not shield well enough.
    Internally the AC version AE is same chipset as the Asus.. they could have used USB3 which is built in.. but I think went conservative and decided not to as they were faced with early release of hardware they didn't understand. And so they are still having issues with the basic hardware.. imagine throwing in USB3 wireless issues.
    All of the above is total and utter speculation on my part. Apple are the most secretive company in the world.. they don't even own up to mistakes.. they never tell you what they are doing or why. No apple rep will say I am right or wrong.. total PR blackout.
    But IMHO that is why you should have bought a Time Capsule which has a SATA interface inside.. and is very much faster than USB2. The cost increase is only what the hard disk costs.
    No doubt gen7 or gen8 will suddenly come out with USB3. It always pays to keep some features up your sleeve even if the chipset manufacturer has them built in.

  • Nexus 1000v svs connection increase max-port increase

    Hello All,
    Does anybody know the impact if I increase the max-ports under the svs connection from 8192 to 20.000.
    We are using ESX version 5.0
    Best regards

    You shouldn't have any problem. 20,000 is a supported number for vCenter 5.0.
    You can verify by checking the VMware vSphere Configuration Maximums guide for 5.0.
    Looking at the guide I have it says the number of Distrbuted virtual network switch ports per vCenter is 30,000.

    it seems like the soap adapter is doesn't has enough thread to receive call from IS.
    the pattern is like   success, success, failed, success, success, failed.  it always 1 errror within 1 minutes for 4-5 transaction in the same minutes.
    is that any log in adapter that i can check or how to increase soap adapter thread ?
    Please advise ?
