Gen 4 iPod Battery

I have a Gen 4 iPod w/click wheel and dock connector bought in 04. I recently replaced the battery (about 4 months ago) but it alredy seems to be not holding a charge.
My remote broke about a year ago (and can't be replaced) so I bought a remothe from griffin tech. Could that have anything to do with it?
Or is this iPod just old enough that I need to give up and get a newer model?

Ahh, I am having the EXACT same problem .... if I find an answer to it, I'll let you know. I think I'm going to pop open the ipod to disconnect everything.

2nd Gen IPOD Battery Drain Using USB

I have a 2nd gen IPOD (called IPOD with Dock Connector on the Apple webpages). This came with a firewire connector, but I have no firewire port on my laptop. I borrowed a USB cable from a 2nd gen IPOD Nano to connect to my laptop. When I connect, the IPOD battery is drained within seconds. On Apple's website, the USB connector that they claim works with the 2nd gen IPOD is that same IPOD Nano cable (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=8F9 5B674&nplm=MA591LL/A). Has anyone successfully connected a 2nd gen IPOD to a USB port using this cable?

All the iPods labelled "dock connector" which I believe are 3rd gen iPods cannot charge via a usb connection.
Charging this unit requires a built-in 6-pin FireWire port or the FireWire iPod Power Adapter.

3rd Gen iPod Battery will not hold a charge

After fully charging my ipod I turn the unit off and lock the unit, the next day I only have about 2/3 battery power left, 2nd day 1/3 and the 3rd day the battery is fully discharged. I just had the battery replaced hoping this would fix the problem but no help

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one with a new battery for $79. They do not fix yours. I would say not worth it

5th Gen IPOD Battery Issues

The cable for my replacement battery does not stay put in power receptacle on the circuit board. How do I make it stay "plugged in" and not just fall out?

Why does it not stay put? Are you sure you locked the little clip in that holds the ribbon cable in place or checked to make sure it isn't broken?

Recently, just after the year period of course, my 4th gen ipod battery drained really fast. I got a replacement battery that is supposed to be better, but it still drains fast. It doesnt drain quite as fast, but if left unplugged overnight, I can not turn it on in the morning. I have checked the clock and the alarm, nothing is turning it on. I have tried reseting it and I have made sure that it is up to date on the software. What can I do? Does anyone know of anything else that could be wrong with it?

did you charge the new battery for at least 3 hours when you just replaced it?? and you may also try to restore your ipod and update to the latest software

Samething here. I got my ipod nano on Christmas 2010 and I always thought that it did not have the 24 hours music playback capacity. This week I had the ultimate test. I had to go the hospital and knew I would be waiting a long time. I fully charged my ipod nano (3 hours connected to my computer)... then, I turned it on at 11:30 in the morning and I played the radio non-stop until 5:30 PM when it just stopped working. That's 6 hours of music playback, not 24...
Is there something I should know about the battery and how to charge it to maximise music playback??

I recently acquired my brother's 1st gen Ipod mini. I love the thing. As with others, I think I'm having troubles with battery life. I have played songs on it for around 2 hours today. At 1.5 hours of playtime, the battery life indicator was nearly empty (NOTE: I have read this article: http://www.vsa.cape.com/~danh/ipod.htm and I understand the "lying" battery life indicator). A half hour after this, the unit shut itself off: the battery's charge had been depleted.
I have been looking at ebay and there is one company selling a battery for under 10 dollars with shipping. They seem to be fairly reputable, claiming to be a top supplier of Ipod products and that the batteries it sells are superior to the ones that originally came with the 1st gen mini Ipods. I have ALSO seen a replacement battery for the Ipod mini claiming the following:

Yet another claims:

My question is has anyone replaced the battery on their 1st gen mini Ipod? What voltage and mAh readings should I get for the battery I buy?

Ok, the main thing to look for is the 3.7v rating. the mAh refers to milli-Amp hours, i.e. the amount of charge the battery can hold, not the current it outputs.
As long as it's 3.7v, it's cool. And the bigger the mAh, the better.

New battery in 5th gen ipod not holding charge

I just installed a new hard drive and a new battery in my ipod.
The drive is a MK6008GAH from a samsung Q1 Ultra, so claims the ebay seller. The ipod switches on, displays the black screen with apple logo then just the sad ipod screen. I've tried leaving it to charge overnight but it makes no difference.
I've been trying to put it into disk mode, I suceeded once, connected the ipod to my computer but the ipod froze before the computer recognised it. Any ideas what might be wrong? Perhaps a dud harddrive?

I just had a similar problem with my brand new (bought yesterday) 60GB. At "apparently random" points, iTunes would just Unexpectedly Quit. I ended up syncing and stopping at every letter of the alphabet until all songs were copied. I never had this trouble with my 1st Gen iPod.

Planb77..... Thank you for confirming that..... I guess the battery is shot. I do have a later version of ipod and am very happy with it, however I was trying to ressurect this one for use on my motorcycle.
How do I replace the battery.... is it easy to get the ipod apart w/o destroying it.... I would love to delve inside any way and replace the battery.
Can you or anyone help here and point me in the right direction to replace?

5th gen iPod Touch crashes spontaneously

My 5th Gen iPod Touch crashes at random times, usually when on wifi. When it does this, it resets my clock by ten or twenty or thirty minutes and I have to fix the time because it does not automatically restore via the Internet. I tried restoring my iPod, both at home and at the Apple Store, but when the person helping me ran a diagnostic on it I was told nothing came up. My diagnostic data was still on the iPod and I had three kernel panic reports and about eight reset counter reports, so I'm not sure why I was told that. I've seen a similar thread on here saying it was probably the battery, so I thought that was the problem, but I've just been told otherwise. I don't know what to do because last night I plugged in my iPod and left the room, then came back to find the screen cracked (I'm guessing having to do with the battery). No one else was in the room and I didn't drop it. Because I don't know how to reproduce the problem, I'm having a hard time proving it exists regardless of diagnostic data, and now it looks like I dropped it and that damaged the device, when that is honestly not the case. Does anyone have any ideas?

No, I did not restore from backup. I restored to factory settings at the Apple Store and when I got home and tried to set up my email, my iPod restarted again. The time reset to ten minutes previous.
I'm mentioning the crash reports because they all correspond to the times my iPod restarted. It has crashed four times in the last hour and all I've done is download two apps (Podcasts and Skype) and added my email accounts.

I can't get my 4th gen ipod touch to turn on but itunes see's it and is in recovery mode. I can hear the beep beep when I plug it in to the usb port. I have also charged it for 3 hrs so far but won't fire up. I tried the customery hold the home and power button routine but don't know what else to do.
