Gen. 5 1.2 Fix....Sorta

Ok, I sort of have a fix for the Ipod Video 1.2 deal thats happening where your Ipod will lock up. First, this will only work with your ipod connected to your computer, and recognized by your computer. (NOTE: This will work, and only work, when Itunes is NOT running.)
This is not a complete fix. This allows you to restore back to another version, without the loss of data.
1. Open up My Computer.
2. You will see your Ipod listed within those folders. Open it.
3. There is a hidden folder called Ipod_Control. Open it.
4. Open up the Device Folder.
5. Open up, in notepad or any other text editor: SysInfo.
6. MAKE A BACKUP OF THIS FILE, JUST IN CASE!
7. There will be, about halfway down this list, two items that say something similar to: Build version 0x01110340 and Visible build 0x0110860 (1.2)
8. Change the first one to 0x0000000 (replace all the digits with 0)
9. Change the 2nd one to the same, and change the () to 1.0
10. Save that file.
11. Go to Ipodwizard.net
and download the iPod Updater 2005-10-12.
12. Install that.
13. Open up the folder you installed that too, and you will see a folder with that name on it, as well as inside the folder, an exe.
14. Open the exe file, and you should be able to update you ipod. (It will say that you ipod is out of date, with the version # being 1.0, or whatever number you changed that too)
15. It should work, and I'm not quite sure what version you actually will be running, but it will be running.
NOTE: I did this, and it worked. I then tried to update to the most recent update on Ipodwizard, iPod Updater 2006-06-28, and I have currently messed up my ipod, where it turns on and off constantly. However, it was working before I tried this update. And now, I cannot update it again. Therefore, my #s and wording is off on step 7 as I was going off of memory.
I hope this helps some of you, and you won't run into the same problem I did as described above.
And please, leave me comments and let me know if this works for you too, or e-mail me at [email protected]

my ipod just froze compleatle.
i can not shut it on or off even using my computer.
it will not show up undew my computer.
i was wondering what should i do?
it looks as if there is static on my ipod screen... if this is any indicator of problem, and i too have just put the newest firmware onto my ipod.
im ******, and why the **** would apple not say anything about this problem if so many people are having it.
now i have a $300 paperweight.

My ipad just won't let me sign in with my apple password on FaceTime or iMessage since updating to ios7 it says check my network connection, even though my iPhone works fine with the same password, can anybody help please, I have tried numerous things but nothing  works.  Will I have to wait for a bug fix to sort this? I hear they are working on one a the minute, I hate ios7

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.

  • How to fix sorting artist problems?

Hey, I need some help here.
So I got a MacBook Air and synced it with my iPhone 5s, I lost all my iPhone music and started adding them over again but I noticed something which is frustrating to me. For example:
    Artist: A Day To Remember
When I transfer it to my iPhone, I open the app and it is sorted only as "Day To Remember" even when in the iPhone Music Library in my Mac it's listed as "A Day To Remember", after B's.
Same happens with some artists that start with THE.
I don't understand what's going on and fixing the tags in the iPhone music library is useless. And now the Mac library is not solving the problem either (Already tried checking and fixing the album artist and "sort as" types and still no response.)
Does anyone know the source to this issue?
    Thanks
    JM

There are actually several workarounds for this:
You can manually override the automatically-generated sort values - so if you want albums by The Beatles to sort by "T" rather than "B" you can enter "The Beatles" in the Sort Artist field
turingtest2 has created a VBScript that will do this automatically for a range of selected items - see the UnAutoSort script on this page.
If you're feeling really adventurous, you can modify iTunes' behavior for sort names by editing the appropriate version of the SortPrefixes.plist file - depending on your versions of Windows/iTunes this will be in C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\en.lproj or C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\en.lproj (for US English), or the relevant folder in iTunes Resources for other languages.  Note that any changes here will need to be repeated after every iTunes update as the file is reset to its default values by the installation process.
(Edit: obviously the references above are for Windows, I'm not sure whether there's a Mac equivalent of turingtest2's script but editing the SortPrefixes.plist file will work on Mac as well, allowing for variations in iTunes' folder structures).

  • Santa Rosa Macbook fan noise fix, sort of

I don't know how many of you guys noticed this, but when I got the new Santa Rosa MB it was definitely louder than my previous C2D Macbook. Even when idle doing nothing.
I found out that the lowest rpm on the new Santa Rosa goes at 1800, which in a quiet room at night is way to loud personally.
In order to fix it just download fan control 1.2 and then put the lowest RPM setting to 1000. For me that instantly made the MB super quiet again.
Hope that helps to those that wish more silence out of the Santa Rosa books.

I made an appointment at the Apple Store I got it from (4 days after I purchased). I told them about the weird clicking noise and they took it to the back (store was pretty loud) and came back in a few minutes and offered to exchange it since I was within my 14 days. The new one is way quieter and only makes fan noise with intensive processes (as expected). Doing some research after the fact, I believe my issue was the ticking/clicking one described here: http://www.appledefects.com/wiki/index.php?title=MacBook#.22Mooing.22fan_noise.2C_Ticking.2FClicking_Fannoise Overall, they handled it pretty well (I was prepared to field an inquisition about this manufacturing flaw, luckily I didn't have to and they recognized the problem pretty quickly), and I'm finally enjoying my new MacBook.

  • New Twist - QTime Choppy fix - sort of...

Here's a twist. Take your choppy QT movie and export it to a WMV (you'll need Flip4Mac). The resulting WMV on my system plays fine in both the Windows Media Players and Quicktime. But in QTime Pro take the same WMV file and re-export it as a Quicktime file and it's back to it's choppy self again.
So it seems that the problem with Quicktime is reading Quicktime files. Windows (WMV) files play fine. Of course, that doesn't help those if us who depend on QTime to make a living. My DAW is not going to read a WMV file. It wants to see a QT file. And so do I, darn it!
Caveat: May or may not apply for those without sound. I have not had that problem but would be interested to hear from folks who do and if exporting to a WMV works to fix what as well.
Apple really needs to make this a high priority fix.

*I wish you would have made your question (comment) more clear in your original post as I would have posted other answers.*
I thought my comment was quite clear. A choppy .mov was playing back fine in Quicktime when converted to a WMV. That is the entire point. Enough has already been written about the 7.5 playback issues that I didn't want to beat a dying horse.
*You mentioned WMP formats and Flip4Mac and I answered.*
Actually I mentioned WMV and Flip4Mac. The only reason I did was so that no person would post asking why they couldn't save to .wmv with their basic QT Pro version. I appreciate your answers and opinions. I really do!
*You mentioned the file format and codecs used and I answered.*
I'm not clear what you point is here. Didn't you ask me to post that? I did.
*Now you state a new question and I have no answers. I have no issues with version 7.5 and all of my older files work just fine with it.*
No, I am not stating a new question. It's really the main issue: playback is choppy. I appreciate that your files playback fine. Similarly, I don't have the audio issues that others have. That doesn't make Quicktime all well and good. MANY people are experiencing these problems. I am glad you are not.
*Try the file again under a new User account to help rule out some third party cause.*
Have not tried that on this machine, but certainly will. Thanks for the suggestion. BTW, I chose that file somewhat arbitrarily but much smaller files also playback choppy. Some don't. Some web content is affected; some is not. Clearly there is some element in the specific files that are problematic (or my ability to read that information has somehow been compromised).
If my Flip4Mac "trick" can help others with similar problems in the interim than I think that is a good thing.
*I don't have a complete explanation as to why this is happening...*
    Thanks Mac20Genius. can't wait for QT X!

  • MuVo 2 FM Freeze Fix (Sort of a f

After weeks of reading all of the forums and trying everything I could, not to mention buying a Zen player as a replacement for my MuVo 2 FM, I got it to work. It was frozen on the MuVo screen like everyone else's and I couldn't get it out of that. I could get to recovery but it wouldn't do anything from there or hook to the PC. I was reading one persons message saying they were fed up with theirs and hit it on the steering wheel. I was about to trash mine and just as a try I hit it on the desk a few times. Nothing. Then I dropped it from about 8" on it's back 3 times and it came on and connected to the PC with all of my files still intact. The other post said maybe it "jogged" the memory or something. I don't care what but it worked. I don't say this is a good fix but now it can be handed down and get some use. I was going to give it to a friend to tinker with but I'm hanging on to it for now. Sorry Russell (if you read this) but I didn't want to tell you I was doing a takesy backsy so I made up a fib.

Is the battery securely fitted? If so, sounds like a hardware fault and you need to contact support.

  • IPod Touch 3rd gen sound problem - fixed? - iOS 5.1

    Hello -
Since updating my iPod Touch 3rd generation to iOS 5.1, the sound quality has decreased dramatically. The problem was only in my headphone jack, regardless of headphone or earbud type. The symptom was hard to describe: some songs had decreased bass, other songs sounded fine but with very quiet vocals.
I'm an engineer and these seemed like "digital" problems to me, so if it wasn't for a friend suggesting I test the problem with different headphones-vs-jack-vs-internal speaker, the thought never would have occurred to me:
There was a tiny bit of lint in the headphone jack. I unfolded a paper clip, carefully picked out and blew away the lint.
So far, the solution appears to be working.
I still don't understand how those symptoms would be caused by a connectivity problem in the jack. Perhaps the jack's extra terminal (used for things like volume control and song-change) was being shorted, just slightly, wreaking havoc elsewhere in the iPod.
(This was after trying all sorts of stuff, including a complete system "wipe" and restore.)

Yes. Other uses have experienced the same cause and corrective acition. That being foreign material n the headphone jack.

  • Ipod Touch 5th Gen Not Charging - FIXED

I'm pretty tech savy but couldn't figure out why my 5th Gen Ipod Touch with the Lightning connector would not charge when plugged in via USB. Sometimes wiggling the connector would work but eventually it had stopped. I've tried blowing into the the connector port of the Ipod, I've even used a magnifying glass to inspect for damaged pins and what not and could not find anything wrong.
Eventually I decided to take a toothpick and scrape the internal Ipod connector hoping that it would clean any dirty contacts, doing so revealed that my connector port was loaded with lint from my pants pocket. I ended up picking out a good amount of lint that was not noticeable using the magnifying glass and not affected by blowing into the port of the Ipod Touch, after removing the obstruction the Ipod now charges normally.
NOTE: Do NOT attempt this cleaning method using a metal object such as a pin due to the risk of shorting out the unit, a wooden toothpick worked perfect for my situation.
    Hope this method helps someone.

    Good advice Jem24,
I would like to add when using compressed air when cleaning out any electronic device, please make sure the device is completely cooled down and not hot to the touch, Hot solid state components do not like cold compressed air and will damage the solid state chips if cooled too quickly. I found this out the hard way by blowing dust out of my desktop pc's and damaging the power supply components inside.

  • Battery Life fix (sort of)

I have an iPhone 4 with the latest OS. I also have 2 New Trent battery cases - one that no longer holds a charge and the other that I use regularly.
This last week, I had to go without the battery case. I immediately began having the same battery issues everyone else is complaining of. The phone would run out of battery at 6-8 hours with minimal use.
As a test, I fully recharged my phone and plugged the phone into the battery pack that does not hold a charge. I immediately saw my battery life go back to 2-3 days before charging. I then took the case back off and saw my battery drain. I did not do a re-install or make any other changes to any settings.
In reading through the other big thread started by scarface, I noticed a few other comments from people using battery cases that also indicated no battery problems while using a case.
My theory is that there may be a software bug related to the docking port that is causing the drain. It's suspicious to me that everything works fine with the case and drains the battery if I don't.
I hope this gives the Apple engineers a starting place since it's easily recreatable.

Restore the phone as new from iTunes then resync your information.

  • ALV fixed default sorting

    Hi!
In a customer report I use the REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY function module to display the output in ALV.
I would like to enter a fixed sorting criteria which cannot be changed by the user (e. g. via the IT_SORT parameter). He/she shall however be able to sort further according to additional criteria.
Is there an exit or something similar to do this?
    Regards
    Bastian Rohde

    Hi!
Thank you very much for the quick replies.
However due to the fact that the user shall be able to sort according to other criteria I cannot hide the sort buttons.
But I found a parameter in the IT_SORT table which allows a criterion to be obligatory. The sort buttons obey this setting, but the layout button does not.
Therefore your tip with the excluding parameter was really helpful nevertheless.
I now excluded the layout button leaving the user with the sorting I want and only being able to add other sort criteria.
    Thank you very much!
    Regards
    Bastian Rohde

  • How DID I get this much data on my iPod Touch 1st gen?

ITunes on my brand new MacBook Pro shows 3762 songs at 62.84 GB with 99.9999% of them being AAC encoded.
My 1st gen 32GB iPod Touch holds ALL of that data, plus 210 apps -- and everything works/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png Select any song at random and it will play. Select any app and it will run/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png/___sbsstatic__ _/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png 62.84GB of songs on a 32GB Touch?? How did I do that? Plus, it STILL has 6.7GB available/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png/___sbsst atic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png It's running iOS 3.1.3. I've added songs and apps over the years without any problems whatsoever.
My wife has a 30GB iPod Video White (5th gen) -- it has 4342 songs, with 9.4GB still available/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png I loaded everything I had in my iTunes, and she's been adding songs on her own. So hers ALSO has more GBs of songs on it than it was made to hold. And hers works fine as well.
Now we get a brand new up-to-date 32GB iPod Touch 4th gen (Retina Display, FaceTime, etc). It's the latest and greatest (she got it through an employee incentive point plan at Boeing). I wasn't even thinking about how much data was in the 1st gen Touch -- my brain was just saying I've got all my songs and apps in my 1st gen, so I should be able to get all of it in the new 4th gen model. They're both 32GB, and the overhead (system, etc), is almost identical (okay, the 1st gen had 29+GB free and the 4th gen has 28+GB free). Still, pretty comparable.
I tried to sync iTunes with the new 4th gen iPod Touch and it says only about 1500 songs (of the 3762 total) can be loaded. That's it. No more/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png That would also mean NO apps at all.
We tried to get this explained at a One-to-One meeting AND the Genius Bar at our local Apple Store, but NOBODY had an answer.
How is it that my old 1st gen 32GB Touch can hold more than twice the GB of songs AND 210 apps at the same time, and work, while the new 4th gen Touch is doing "sorta" what's expected of it -- that is, running out of space with only 1500 songs
One possibility is that both old iPod's began their lives under iTunes 9.x. But I've updated iTunes consistently as it has moved into v10 and both older models have had apps and music added using whatever the latest version of iTunes has been released.
Could that be the reason? Has anybody heard of this before? Can anybody explain it? The guys at the store were stumped. So am I. They "apologized" and said they understood how we felt, but there wasn't any resolution to the question. Other than -- DON'T mess with the old models as long as they are working Yeah, but I'd like to see the NEW model behave the same Wouldn't we all?

No, the option you mention is/was NOT checked. When I talked to two people at the Apple store (One-to-One) and the Genius Bar, they said that it was correctly set (that is, NOT checked), considering the files were ALREADY AAC encoded.
As I posted, pretty much all of the songs are already encoded as AAC files. They have all been captured off CD's in that format, or purchased from iTunes in that format. They were transferred to the 1st gen Touch in that format, and the attempt was made to make the exact same transfer to the new 4th gen Touch in the exact same format -- with the result that barely half would transfer over to the new Touch.
One would think that it might be set one way for the older model and one way for the newer, but that's not the case. As an FYI, I DID try checking that option after the first failure of getting everything to load, but it didn't make any difference.

I want to get my iPod touch 4th gen. 32GB fixed. It's cracked and the screen has gone white. Will apple fix it and how much will it cost? Also, if I could have a link to their support page regarding this.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

  • Sorting functionality : Project systems information system

    Hello Experts,
I have a problem,as discribed below. Please give me your expert suggestion.
Requirement is : in report CN41 I need to display one custom field "XXXXX"
and I need to enable sorting functionality on  this field.
For this have created a sort profile in "define profiles for srting crietria" and assigned
field "XXXXX".The sort criteria for this is assending order.
Then have assigned this sorting profile to the PS info profile.
Now when i Run CN41...the field 'XXXXX" is displayed and the sort icon appears
on the top of the field collumn' 'XXXXX". BUT i am not able sort my CN41 report based on this.
Did I miss anything here ? Even View--> sort/summarize/group ( from the top bar )
    is also not enabled.
Can you please guide me where have gone wrong. Any other suggestions to enable this sorting functionality are welcome.
    Thanks in advance
    Sandeep

    Hi,
I think in CN41 sort/summarize/group under 'View' menu is related to 'PS hier. type' of project view in OPUR.
If you have fixed sort criteria then you can::
Create a profile for sort criteria in OPTV.
Add sort criteria profile in profile for calling overviews in OPSL.
Add profile for calling overview in overall profiles for info. sys. under 'Structure overv' Field.
    Regards,
    Harsh.

  • To Sort

    Good Morning Everyone,
We are wondering how to sort in Report.
If you have expereice, please share with us.
    Thanks in advance,
    NY

Why you are playing with report fields in property. Why you are using the query to sort data for you. You can also set the dynamic sorting in query. What is the problem if you are using sorting for your desired column in query. Like
    1.
    SELECT COLUMN1, COLUMN2...
    FROM TABLE
    WHERE ...
ORDER BY DATE_COLUMN   -- Here you can set any order you want for any column. This way fix sorting you query will sort the records upon the column which you set in ORDER BY.
    2.
Or if you want to make the dynamic order...then
    SELECT COLUMN1, COLUMN2...
    FROM TABLE
    WHERE ...
&P_ORDER_BY  -- It will create parameter in report called "P_ORDER_BY"So at the time of running report you will have to pass value in this parameter like this...
ORDER BY FIELD_NAME   -- Here field name is any field you want to order from your query.-Ammad

  • Playlist sort order not carried to iTouch

After upgrade to IOS 5, playlist (podcasts) sort order in iTunes on MBP is not maintained when syncing w/ iTouch.  No options on iTouch to sort.
    Thoughts or bug?
Related...one podcast would not purge from iTouch via sync, so had to restore iTouch.  Did not fix sort order transfer problem.

I am also having the same problem. Running the newest iTunes and iPhone software my smart playlists are not working correctly. My "Recently Added" is correct in iTunes, and if I look at the playlist on my iPhone info in iTunes it is correct there, but the actual playlist on my iPhone is populated entirely with audiobook files. I have tried deleting and recreating the playlist which gives the same results. I have also specified that items within the playlist should be music files only and still get the same results.
I have a playlist that's Top 50 Most Played that's also not behaving properly (ie correct in iTunes but not on my iPhone).
    Any suggestions?

  • IPhoto synced photos display in iOS sorted by date imported

This is precisly what's happening to me, and it definately changed with either the last iTunes update or the last iPhoto update.  I can't be sure.  I'd be willing to bet it's iTunes, since the photos display in iPhoto (date taken ascending) just fine.
I can confirm there's an issue with one of those programs, NOT with iOS 6 specifically. iTunes and iPhoto are up to date as of this post, having updated both within the last week or so as updates were available. All photos are grouped into Events within iPhoto.
    1. I removed photo synching from all iOS devices, and deleted the iPod photo cache.
    2. In iPhoto, I reset manual sorting, switched from date descending to date ascending (what I want). Everything in iPhoto displays correctly.
Those two steps have fixed sorting issues in the past.
    3. Sync photos to iPhone with iOS 6.0.1
    4. All photos are correctly ordered, with the exeption of the photos imported SINCE the last iPhoto (or iTunes) update.  THESE, and only these photos are sorted by import date, NOT date taken, so they are appended to the very end of the event.
    5. I repeated the process with an iPhone still on iOS 5.1.1 - same result.
So, this issue is sync related, not iOS related.  Again, I can't be sure if it's an iPhoto or iTunes thing, but a recent update of one of those (or both?) has messed this up. Anyone else seeing this?

Sound like an iTunes  or iPhone issue.  Post your question in those forums.
