Gen 7 nano sync issues

just bought a gen 7 nano.  connected to laptop and sync thru itunes went great.  pulled out old desktop to sync old tunes from windows media player and it said sync went fine and used up space but no songs on ipod besides the itunes ones from laptop...any ideas?

Windows Media Player isn't designed to sync with iPods; the files it places on one won't be treated by it as music.

  • Gen 2 Nano sync problems.

I have a 2nd Gen iPod Nano and I tried to connect it to my computer to sync some new songs onto it, but it wouldn't connect. I tried connecting it to other computers and my car stereo, but it didn't work on them either. Is this just because of the age of the iPod or someting else?

Yes I can mount it on windows, I think I mentioned that. It works fine on my windows laptop. But my mac is my primary machine, so I either have to stick to windows or not use the ipod.
Interesting thing: I called apple support and chatted up the tech and said it looked to me like a LOT of people were having this problem. (She had just told me to take it to an apple store for replacement or send it in) She then said, uh huh, a lot of people are having this problem LOL!!
So it appears that there is either a software, hardware or firmware problem with the ipod gen 2.
I am taking mine in for replacement monday, and I expect that this problem will continue. So I end up with a windows only ipod or just get rid of the thing alltogether, which is what I want to do at this point.

  • 3rd Gen 40GB iTunes Sync Issue

I have a 40GB 3rd Gen Click Wheel iPod that has functioned without a single issue since purchase in 2003. It has been a long while since I updated any of the music, so I plugged it into my computer using the firewire cable that it came with. The iPod will begin charging immediately, but when I open iTunes (latest 8.2 version) it will not recognize that there is an iPod connected. I've tried this on both my PC (XP) and my Powerbook (10.4) with the same results. I've tried the Menu/Play button reset, also putting it into Disk Mode. I would appreciate any info/suggestions, since I'm stuck with my playlist from 2005!

I'm having the same problem. Trying to use my old 3G 20 gig iPod to dedicate to my car stereo which has a usb port, supporting the iPod interface. Works fine via usb but wont charge. Is there an usb to firewire adapter so I can use my old firewire dock cable? Or is it a voltage issue? I hate when standards change. I understand that USB gives apple a greater potential market, but come on! The old stuff should still work!

  • Nano Sync Issues

Hi, I had my new Nano working great and had my music on it no problem.
Then I was offered to upgrade to software version 1.0.2 or something to that extent, I also had to upgrade to Itunes 7.4 before it would recognise my nano to begin with.
Anyway, the problem is that itunes created a playlist called 'Nena's Playlist' because it said my ipod was full, but I didn't want this so I deleted it.
Then it appears that all my songs have been wiped from my nano.
I repeatedly connect the ipod to my laptop and it syncs automatically but says that it can not update as the playlists no longer exist and then seems to disconnect my ipod automatically (on itunes I can see my original playlists do exist and contain songs) so I press ok and go to the 'music' tab on itunes and select the box that updates all playlists and all music, then I press 'apply' but it doesn't work, it freezes for a few moments then says something about a mass storage device error.
I've tried restring my ipod but it won't even do that - it seems to take ages and so in the end I disconnect it using the disconnect device button in my toolbar.
Does it sound like I need to do one of the 5Rs?
    Cheers

I have exactly the same problem, and no idea how to fix it either. Any help out there, please?

  • 4th Gen Ipod Nano compatibility issues`

I purchased a 4th Gen 16gb ipod nano. When I connected it to my car's Sony car stereo I got the "can't charge" error message that has been discussed previously on these pages. It will also not work on my wife's Chrysler Town & Country. Several solutions to the charging problem have been given, including getting "Passport" from Scosche (sp). However, when I called their help desk they stated their product will solve the charging problems, but if my nano was not recognized by my stereo and then work, that their product would not solve this problem. Neither the Sony or the Chrysler stereo would recognize the nano after giving me the charging error. Is their any software that can be downloaded into the nano that would make it work with these car stereo systems?
Thanks for any advice or help.

If everybody with this problem were to return the 4th generation nano, the problem would be solved by Apple in short order. Instead reponses along the line of "you shouldn't expect old equipment to work with a new generation Apple product" are offered thereby enabling Apple in ignoring its customers.

  • 1st Gen Apple TV Sync issues.

    Hello,
I had my atv syncing with my mac over wifi. Suddenly it stopped, i have made no changes other than usual system updates. My mac is connected via ethernet and airport. If I go into my system setting on the mac and disable the ethernet port the ATV will sync over wifi, however if i leave both connections open on my mac, the atv wont appear. I never had this problem before. Any idea's ??
    Thanks.
    rany

Did you update to the new iOS for ATV? I would recommend try leaving one of the connections off...... either ethernet or WiFi as there isn't any reason to have both to your apple TV.. I just upgraded to ATV@. It will not recognize connection if both ethernet and WiFi are simultaneously connected under ATV iOS 4.1 I had not difficulties syncing my 1st Gen ATV via WiFi or internet use. Hope this helps......... I think you actually solved your own problem if I understood it.

  • 2nd gen Apple TV sync issues

Just wondering if anyone one else is seeing this problem and if they know of any fixes/workarounds. I have several movie files that have some corrupt frames. If I play them back with my 1st generation apple tv or iTunes they play with no problems, it just plays through the corrupt frames. When I play the same movie with the 2nd gen apple tv when it gets to the corrupt frames the video stops and the audio keeps going. Sometimes if I hit pause then play it will work and start playing OK. Sometimes I have to fast forward a bit. After doing this a few times the movie will finally jump back several chapters.
Also is apple looking into a fix for this problem?
    TIA for any help.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If the movie file is corrupt, almost anything might happen in some circumstances. I wouldn't have thought you can expect Apple to resolve an issue that is caused by a corrupt video file.

  • Ipod nano syncing issues

For some reason my ipod won't sync with my itunes, it looks as if it's syncing but the new purchases don't show up on the ipod.  I have 3GB of memory left. so that's not the issue.  It was fine back in June.  The store recognises the ipod too.  I'm at a loss, any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem.  So you are not alone.  Hopefully someone will answer you.....

  • Ipod Nano Sync Issue

CAn you get Ipod Touch Apps to run on an an Ipod Nano?

No the can't. Applications for the iPod Touch are made specifically for the iPod Touch as the frameworks are made for "touching", not for "scrolling" with.

  • Ipod nano 7th gen sync issue

I have just bought a new ipod nano 7th gen and am having issues with syncing it to my PC.  On my devices the ipod is there and recognised as such, but in iTunes the ipod doesn't exist at all.  I have the latest version of iTunes but can't find a way to access the iPod at all - any ideas?
The iPod is recognised on the family laptop (macbook), but not the PC.  The issue is that there is some music on the PC that's not on the laptop and so would be helpful to access it via the PC and not just the macbook.

If the video is HD, the resolution is too high for the iPod's screen, so iTunes will not sync the video.
If this is a purchase from the iTunes Store, and you paid for the HD version, you may be entitled to also download the SD version (at no cost), which should sync to the iPod.
FYI - There is a command in iTunes to create a new version of the video, which should sync to iPods
menu bar -> File -> Create New Version -> Create iPod or iPhone Version
However, videos purchased from the iTunes Store (such as movies and TV shows) have copy protection, so that command is disabled.

  • Windows 7 64 bit, iPod touch 2nd gen, iTunes sync issue

I have Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium and am frustrated to death. I have spent days wiping out my iPod trying something different an only to start all over again. I am not a n00b to computers and only ask because I only find a trail of tears and none of the problems I see look specifically like mine.
I have been following this issue since Feb 2010 and notice reports that are sort of similar back to Jan of 2009. Anyway here is my problem.
iTunes will recognize my iPod touch 2nd Gen. iTunes will "sync" apps and data. iTunes will not sync movies, music, books, or software upgrades.
I get an error code that changes depending on what I am trying and seems to lead to no where. I can't honestly remember the code anymore.
I can sync with this same computer using Windows XP 32 Pro win a VirtualBox VM, but can not do it directly from within Windows 7. So hardware and drivers are not the issue. I reinstalled iTunes with a Vista 64 bit install that I found online which appeared to work temporarily then ultimately I ended up back where I started.
I actually switched to Windows (from linux) because I got tired of the VirtualBox method. Quite ironic that I am still facing the same issue.
On top of the not being able to sync properly from Windows 7 64 bit. Everytime I try I have to put in hours of work to get my Ipod back to working order as iTunes only allows you to sync with one computer and is slower that snail poop in January. In order to try again I have to be willing to commit to the problems that I am most likely to encounter.
    So my questions are
    1. Does anyone have a clue why Apple has not fixed this issue? or is there a solution I don't know about?
    2. Is there an easier way to attempt a fix that does not require me to re organize my 70+ apps on my iPod?
P.S. I do not have an intel based chipset as that seems to have been an issue for others. I have
    ASUS M2V VIA K8T890 AM2 Mother Board
    CPU AMD|A64 X2 4600+
    VGA EVGA GF 7300GT
Have tried direct to MB USB and through powered Hub

Are you sure that you downloaded the 64 bit version and not the 32 bit version?  I would delete the download and try again.  You also might want to look at the iTunes forum since youu have an iTunes problem and not an iPod problem.

  • Having problems syncing 1st gen Ipod nano.

I have a 1st gen Ipod nano (i'm pretty sure it's a 1st gen) that I gave to my mother because I got an Ipod touch. She has her own Itunes accout on her own computer and is trying to connect my old Ipod to her computer/itunes so she can use it and download her music. The problem is the sync function is not working. It will not highlight and stays grey and unable to sync. So can anyone help? I thought I was being nice giving her my Ipod nano for her to use but it's no good is she's stuck with my music and can't put her own on.

Your mother will have to restore (wipe it out) the iPod Nano.  After doing that, she will be able to sync her own music.

Never mind, I think. I think I figured it out. There was 1 song (out of > 900!) that somehow had been purchased with the other ID - I have no idea how. Once I deleted that song, it stopped asking.
There may be something with the newest iTunes version too. I didn't think in older versions that the "On this iPod" list of songs was greyed out. But at least it syncs ok.

  • TS1538 I have 6th gen iPod nano.  When I try to sync it my computer tells me it has malfunctioned and Windows does not  recognize it.  My iPhone syncs fine so the problem must be the iPod.  I have reset the iPod several times and no luck.  Any suggestions

  • Hi, I have a 7th Gen Ipod Nano and I am unable to delete songs. When synced on the PC I can select tracks but right clicking on them does not give the ability to delete. I have downloaded the latest 1.0.3 software but it did not help.

Hi,  I have a 7th gen ipod nano and am having a problem with deleting songs. I can select the track in my ipod's library but right clicking does not bring up the option to delet. I have downloaded the latest update for the ipod but this has not solved the issue. Can anyone suggest a remedy? thanks

    Hello Lor100,
In order to delete or add individual songs from and to your iPod, you'll need to enable 'manual mode' on the device. This will allow you to add and remove exactly the content you desire.
