Data Extraction from SAP R/3 Table View in BW

Dear All,
I am trying to create a BW query from SAP R/3 Table View.
Till now i have created a table view
Extracted Data source in R/3 Useing Tcode : RSA3
In BW Side
1. I have replicated the data source in Source system
2. Created info object
and info object catalog
and assigned it
Now i am little confused over what to do next
wheather to create ODS object in info cube,
Please guide me with rest of steps to follow.

Hi,
After replicating DS in BW, you have to maintain ODS or Cube for maintaining data in BW.
After loading data into Data Targets you can create Reports based on those Data Targets.
For better reporting performance you can create Cube rather ODS.
Info Source(After Creating info Objects, you have to create a Transfer Structure to map the Fields.)
Then create a Data Target ODS/Cube.
Update rules

when Standard Extractors are not supporting to your requirement then we go with Generic Extraction.
Here we have Three different types to design generic extractors

Facing a Problem
Iam trying to create view(database view)for vbak and vbap and given in Tables in Table/Join Conditions tab and clicked in Relationship and the relantionship has been generated automatically,now when i tried to activate this view its saying like "No tables and/or fields are defined for view xxxxx(xxxx-> name of a view)
what will be the problem?pl let me know how to create a view?
And also I need to know the diffference between database view,Manintenance view,Projection view and help view?
Pl let me know on this?

Extract Tables/views into ECC 5.0 SAP system from Non-SAP system

Hi,
I am looking for some inputs on how to set up the following scenario of extracting data stored in tables/views in a non-sap external system into my SAP ECC 5.0 SAP database.
Currently we are using a middleware between SAP and the external system to fetch data. I would like to get rid of the middleware and set up a scenario to call this non-sap external system and pull data stored in views into our SAP system directly. Is that possible in SAP version 5.0? If yes let me know the steps to be performed... do I need to set up XI ?

maybe you can access sap data using some connector such as java or .net connector.

Hi Gaurav,
Your question is not clear.
There is no need to transfer view from R3 to BW.
ONce the datasource created in r/3 by using views or tables you have test the datasources wther it extract records or not.
Once the testing is done then in BW side you have to replicate using RSA1 tcode and then extract data from r/3 to bw...

It is there in the CSS documentation, though it's not really very easy to pick out. See http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2/api/javafx/scene/doc-files/cssref.html#tableview and look at the section called "Substructure".
I'm not claiming that I get everything I need to know from the CSS docs, though. I often need to look at the default stylesheet, caspian.css, which you can extract from the jfxrt.jar file (it's at com/sun/javafx/scene/control/skin/caspian/caspian.css).

Generic extraction using table

Hello friends,
We have three methods in Generic extraction, as we know.
1. Using view/Table
2. Using FM
3. Using Infoset Query
I know pretty well the extraction using View, but when do we use "Table"?
Is there a specific method to perform generic extraction using TABLE?

In case of a generic extraction with view, i've followed the below procedure.
1. RSO2.
2.create a generic datasource by giving a view name and selecting the fields for selection criteria, save and generate.
3. replicate data sources in BW.
4. create an infosource and assign the data source, mapping and create an infopackage to load data.
Now ,
1. how do we enable Delta for this method?
2. Is this possible at all? if yes, how?
3. How do we proceed after the replication of DataSources in BI? specifically, procedure in BI?
Pls clarify.

Access to sybase tables/views

Hi!
I am trying to get access to a sybase database through a JDBC connection. When we does a test in the JDBC test page with the user, we can see all the views and tables. But when we are trying to make a datasource based on this source system I get the message in the left lower corner "No values fir this Selection".
can this be related to that the user I have been given just have read access to these tables/views. In Oracle the user has to own the view/tables to make a datasource work..
If anyone can give me any answer, please let me know.

We have solved this problem by using an existing database that we get the rest of the data from.
This database makes a view and a connection that extract the data we needs

You need to modify RENDER_CELL_START method of your iterator class and you use the p_replacement_bee attribute to output the drop down

Hi,
                     There is big advantage of creating a view for single table rather than RSO2.
            My scenario is like this : My table VBAK has 113 fields i want only 9 fields from them.
                     RSO2: By doing generic extraction with RSO2 it will fetch all 113 fields from the table VBAK.So,it'll definitely degrades the performance . For transferring 9 fields why we have to fetch all 113 fields.
                     VIEW: By using view we can specify some fields in view fields.So, only those 9 fields will be fetched from table. In this extract structure contains 9 field transferring 9 fields.Then we can create generic extraction using this view.

Urgent! Help in Genaric Extraction

I am working on Genaric Extraction,
I have a problme in Procurement,Our Procurement Datamodel is missing Expiry date of material for that we are doing genaric Ext.on table MCHA for this i have created one Infoobject on Feild CHARG(Batch NO.)are rest feild of table MCHA i have taken as attribute,I am consufed over Delta as this is going to load daily.Can you pleas advise me on wich feild of table MCHA i should take delat in Genaric Extraction.
The feild i have taker are.
1,LVORM Deletion flag
2,ERNAM Batch entered by
3,AENAM Last change by user Name
4,ERSDA Date of creation
5,LAEDA Date of last modification
6,VERAB Date of batch availability
7,VFDAT Expiration Date
8,ZUSCH Key for Batch status
9,ZUSTD Batch not on free stock
10,ZAEDT Date of last status modification of batch
11,LIFNR Vendor Number
I am thinking of taking delta on Batch Expiry Date (VFDAT)
Please suggest me this is correct or not or what should be taken for delta.

Here in this scenario, i could get that the data will be modified often. The Creation Data will not Change, I believe the following field will the better choice....
5,LAEDA Date of last modification
This will work for DELTA.
When a new record created what will be the value for this field ??? If it is creation data then without any problem you can use this field.

Display 100,000 rows in Table View

Hi,
I am in receipt of a strange requirement from a customer, who wants a report which returns about 100,000 rows which is based on a Direct Database Request.
I understand that OBIEE is not an extraction tool, and that any report which has more than 100-200 rows is not very useful. However, the customer is insistent that such a report be generated.
The report returns about 97,000 rows and has about 12 columns and is displayed as a Table View.
To try and generate the report, i have set the ResultRowLimit in the instanceconfig.xml file to 150,000 and restarted the services. I have also set the query limits in the RPD to 150,000, so this is not the issue as well.
When running the report, the session log shows the record count as 97,452 showing that all the records are available in the BI Server.
However, when i click on the display all the rows button at the end of the report, the browser hangs after about 10 minutes with nothing being displayed.
I have gone through similar posts, but there was nothing conclusive mentioned in them. Any input to fix the above issue will be highly appreciated.

Hi Saichand,
The client wants the data to be downloaded in CSV, so the row limit in the Excel template, that OBIEE uses is not an issue.
The 100,000 rows that are retrieved is after using a Dashboard Prompt with 3 parameters.
The large number of rows is because these are month end reports, which is more like extraction.
The customer wants to implement this even though OBIEE does not work well with large number of rows, as there are only a couple of reports like this and it would be an expensive proposition to use a different reporting system for only 3-4 reports.
Hence, i am on the lookout for a way to implement this in OBIEE.
The other option is to directly download the report into CSV, without having to load all the records onto the browser first. To do the same, i read a couple of blog entries, but the steps mentioned were not clear. So any help on this front will also be great

Dynamically Hiding Column in a Table View in VC Model

How to dynamacally hide the columns in a table view in a VC model. Through the expression in Control Property, Form element/field or table view as a whole can be made hidden, however, the individual column can not seem to be hidden.
I am using VC server version 700.8.0.1.
Any help would be much appreciated.

In this scenario, if the source is SAP BI, you can use the webapi commands. If not, you would have to have 2 separate tables in different layers and you can show and hide those layers or UI elements...
