General cloning doubts mostly while running adcfgclone
Hi.
While running the adcfgclone script, I am often asking myself what each question actually, really means . . .
Does anyone out there know precisely what the following are asking for?
Do you want to preserve the Display set to :1.0 (y/n) [y] ?
Do you want to use a virtual hostname for the target node (y/n) [n] ?:
Does the target system have more than one application tier server node
Does the target system application tier utilize multiple domain names

Do you want to preserve the Display set to :1.0 (y/n) [y] ?This is for the DISPLAY environment variable that need to be set in the context file, and in the CM script (one usage of setting this variable is to view bitmap concurrent requests).
Do you want to use a virtual hostname for the target node (y/n) [n] ?:See (Note: 356433.1 - Using Oracle Applications Release 11i with Virtual Hostnames and Business Continuity).
Does the target system have more than one application tier server nodeWhen you have more than one application tier node (for example, load balancing).
Does the target system application tier utilize multiple domain namesThis is also applicable when more than one domain is used (for example, load balancing).

1. Yes the database and lsnr were closed as the tar files were created. So, i assume thate there are no any oracle session avalibale when you copy files from source to target
2. Yes I would also like to mention that it already had an old instance. So this is just a new clone. So, i mention you have valid entery on /etc/hosts file
3. Please can you describe what permissions as from root user it was done as
chown -R oratest:dba <db tier folders> If your target user is oratest than syntax seems correct, did you copy oracle_home too from source to target and this home owner is oratest again right?

Error RC-10203 while running adcfgclone.pl on apps tier
Hi,
Hoping someone can help - I am new to Oracle Apps and cloning.
background:
-I have been tasked with completing the cloning steps for a development environment. I was provided source apps tier binaries (EBS 11i, 11.5.10.2) and source database binaries (10gR2, 10.2.0.5) created from a production multi-tier instance.
-The target is a two tier system (apps tier is one instance, db is other instance)
-Both instances of the target are running Red Hat 5.9 (db is 64 bit, apps tier is 32-bit)
-I have successfully restored the database
-I have successfully configured the env and tnsnames.ora on the target apps tier and connect to the database using the APPS credentials
-I do not have access to the production system nor can I ask anyone from the production side for assistance.

Getting an error when running:
$COMMOM_TOP/clone/bin/adcfgclone.pl appsTier
Throwing exception:

Context file creation not successful.
Any suggestions?
I've performed cloning once before, but not with these binaries. Needless to say I did not get this error last time.

When I run the syndication batch for the map of the Customer repository I get an error "General Export Error 301 ".Has anyone faced this problem.Is any configuration needed to be done.The syndication server is running fine..

You have given port no 2015. Are you sure that the port no of the repository from which you are going to syndicate data is correct.You can check the port no of any MDM repository using MDM console.For this you have to click on the mounted MDM server name.It will display the list of all repositories available on that server with their port numbers.Please confirm port no. is correct.
Also confirm that you are using client system code instead of the client system name.IN addition to this,also check
● Is the target MDM repository loaded?
● Is the port type Outbound?
● Is the ports Processing property set to Automatic?
● Is the port connected to a Syndicator or other MDSS?
● Do the Login and Password values in the mdss.ini file match the Login and Password values for the repository on the MDM Console
You can try one more thing, Just give the command with <b>"-l" option</b>

And I have a doubt while running adcfgclone.pl, as we have the options:
appsTier | appltop | atTechStack
dbTier | database | dbTechStack
So, wats the difference between appsTier, appltop and atTechStack,
dbTier, database and dbTechStack
will you please tell me...??

Oracle EBS 11i - Cloning failing while running 'perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier

I am trying to clone the Oracle 11i (11.5.10.2 with RUP6) all single node on RHEL 4.6. I was following the metalink note 230672.1.
I ran adpreclone scripts successfully on the dbTier and appsTier. Shutdown the Apps & DB. Moved over the file system (whole /u01) which include all the homes ,tops and datafiles from source to target.
While running 'perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier' , I am getting following errors. I didn't check any pre-requisite patches for Rapid Clone as the EBS was already up-todate with RUP6. (How can I verify if the system is on RUP6 in case I have to double check it).
