General Creative Suite Question...

I've got CS5.5 and CS4 both installed on my computer.  I'm running Lion, latest version.  I would like CS4 to be the default apps for everything (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) and NOT 5.5.  But if I "command i" a document and try to do the "change all" function it won't let me.  It just leaves it set to default open in 5.5, regardless of whether it's a .indd, .psd... whatever.  Thoughts???
Side note- I know uninstalling 5.5 would do the trick but I'd rather not go that route.  And if anybody's wondering why I would want to work in 4 and NOT 5.5?  Long story short I work for an agency and not everyone has 5.5, so for compatibility issues it's just easier to remain in 4 for now until everyone else is on board with 5.5
Thanks in advance!

As far as I know this is not something you can accomplish on the Mac at the OS level, but Soxy, from Rorohiko.com, can open existing ID files in the correct version when when you double-click them in the finder. If you don't launch 5.5 to start a file, that should probably be sufficient for ID if you also use Edit With instead of Edit Original to handle editing links. I have no idea if there is anything similar for Photoshop or Illustrator, but you can get out of the habit of double-clicking and either open the app first and use the dialog, or drop the file on the icon for the version you want to use.

  • Corel Sketchpad came with my Adobe Photoshop 5.5 Creative Suite: question

    Hi,
I purchased Adobe Photoshop CS 5.5 a few years ago and it came with Corel Painter Sketchpad.
I have been using the sketchpad once in a while since then.
Recently I could not see the media settings in the Sketchpad so I decided to update the program, but instead, I upgraded it without realising it. As a result, Corel upgraded it for me and gave me one month trial and then I would have to buy the program. This program came together with Photoshop CS 5.5 in 2012 and I had it since then.
I would like to ask you very much to update my Corel Sketchpad so I can use it as I was before since it came with my Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite.
    Thank you so very much,

Adobe and Corel are totally separate companies.
Adobe would never bundle software for a competitor.
Maybe you misunderstood something  and bought from someplace that sold these separate products together in a bundle.
If you have a problem with Corel Sketchpad you need to talk to Corel.
Adobe has nothing to do with Corel.
By the way, the vast majority of people in this forum are users just like yourself.
This is not a way to contact Adobe. (Nor Corel either)
Also, not a good idea to add your phone #.
On the internet bots regularly harvest phone #s, email addresses, etc. You might be setting youself up for a torrent of unsolicited phone calls.

  • Adobe Creative Suite Question

I have the CS2 Creative Suite and wondered if I could still use this software on the new Duo Macs. I really don't want to buy the CS3 right now and being that I'm in school, and they're working on CS2, it would not be advantageous for me to start using the next level because my professors will not be able to access the new CS3 files without problems. And the last thing any student needs is problems on top of the usual dreg.
Does anyone know if these creative suites (Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Adobe Acrobat) will open and perform on these newer machines -- even if the software is the CS2 rather than CS3?
Your input would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to decide on a new iMac or a refurbished Powerbook.

Honestly just can't afford CS3 right now. Being a college student and needing to work with the pro versions as I am working my way through school.
But thanks. Yes, I will definitely get 2 gig ram...
Do the programs act differently on Mac Duo because when I got a G4 back in the day and my photoshop etc. had to work in the 9 operating system rather than 10, it was a real pain and the computer would crash.
Will I have that same problem with this situation?

  • Adobe Creative Suite Question [Photoshop File Compatibility]

I have recently received a ten year old macbook with the OS snow leopard, according to the apple store associate using CS3 or CS4 would run better on this particular macbook. would I be able to open a file created in CS3 or CS4 on a computer that runs CS6? Would I be able to open a file made in CS6 in the CS3 or CS4?

That all depends on what you mean by "a file"
Industry standard DATA files such as JPG pictures are independent of program version
Proprietary PROJECT files such as a Premiere Pro video project file are very much dependent on program version
Also, program specific data files such as an InDesign file are dependent on program version, since newer programs often have features not supported in older versions
So... just what do you mean by a file?

  • Help with Creative Suites question please

    Hello
I've been sifting through all these Adobe products, and have gotten pretty excited So, WHERE should I get started with all this? I REALLY like this product here (see link: http://www.adobe.com/ap/products/creativesuite/mastercollection/ ) but is this a good product to start with? What about the video learning tutorials? Any insight would help me out a lot. Thank you very much for your time.
    Brian

    Ian,
Thank you for taking the time to respond.
I see that the Master Collection IS expensive....
I will do as you say...I'll spend some time looking through various programs to try and align my goals with what's available.
I think it would be great to be able to add visual effects to video marketing pieces as well as the ability to manipulate images.
    Thank you!
"As Michael says, Master Collection is VERY expensive. Scarily so for most people! It would be best to figure out what you want to do, what you wish to achieve and what you can afford!
Spend a bit of time browsing bookshops and flip through books on Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator etc to get a glimpse of what they can do. Also, download the trial versions of the apps you are most likley to use. Otherwise, Master Collection could be total overkill for your needs.

  • Creative Suite Question

    Hi,
I believe I have one remaining download from my CS purchase? How can I verify this and then download it. Do these expire??
    Thx. James

Your info is at best vague. What exactly are you trying to download onto what system? you need to provide the exact version.

There is no reason to do that. You can buy a legitimate copy of the product from Adobe.
If the price is too good to be true, it's too good to be true. Caveat emptor.

Hi! I have a Creative suite Design Standard 9 Adobe program and I am attempting to make a wizzard form that can be made into an entry form for a competition. So I need to 1. Make the form into a question and answer form that Participants may fill out. 2. make it possible for them to download it via a link on our website 3. make it possible for them to save the info they have written into the form and mail it to the mail we have supplied in the entry form and 4. make it possible for them to put in a jpg. as part of the entry for and lastly 5. make it possible for us to copy paste the document and use it on other platforms. How do I do this - is it at all possible with adobe?

Those requirements are go way beyond what PDF forms can do and are meant for, some of them would require involving other programs or are mutually exclusive and contradictory. You are wasting your time even thinking about doing this as an "offline" PDF form. Simply sign up for an online forms/ survey service like FormsCentral or Surveymonkey.

  • I have A question about Adobe creative Suite 3 Design Premium, and what it comes with..

My boyfriend works for a office furniture company building and tearing down office furniture. Today one of the people who worked at the company he was tearing down told him he could take any of the programs there as they had no use for them. So he took the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium as well as mac OSX Leopard, thinking I would like to use them. But I have a PC.
My question is what comes with the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium? Since I can not use it, I thought I could sell it, but do not want to do so if I do not have everything it comes with or needs. What I have is three disc's, in the case. There is the application, the content, and the video workshop. There is no booklet or anything with it. If anyone could answer my question, I would really appreciate it. I dont want to sell it to someone and get in any trouble for it not having what its supposed to.
Thank you for your time and help.

Firstly, the CS3 Design Prem comes with Photoshop Extended CS3, Illustrator CS3, InDesign CS3, Dreamweaver CS3, Acrobat Pro 8 as well as Bridge and and Vesion Cue.
Secondly, has the packaging been opened? If so, it could still be installed on a PC or rather Macintosh somewhere. If so, this makes it a trickier proposition with regards to installing it yourself or selling it on.
Don't quote me on this, but if the software is fresh and unopened or has been deactivated, you could upgrade to Design Prem CS4 Mac and then crossgrade to Design Prem Windows. Don't know if it's possible to crossgrade and upgrade in one fell swoop from Mac to Win. I suspect not - but will be happy to be proven wrong.
    Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Creative Suite from 2003 installation question

    Hi -
We purchased Adobe Creative Suite Education edition in 2003.   This works and runs on our G4.      Yes I know this is old!
I'm looking to upgrade to an iMac but have a feelling that the CS from 2003 won't install on newer iMacs as the G4 was using the Motorola chip.
Can anyone answer this question please?       I don't have the money to buy CS5 and I have been told that educational  versions cannot be upgraded.
    Thanks for your help!

Sure. So what's the specific problem?

  • Creative Suite 6 Design and Web Premium Windows Question

    Hi!
I am considering purchasing Creative Suite 6 Design and Web Premium Windows.  The designer I work with does all of our work in the same program, only it is version 5.  Before I make the purchase, I want to make sure the two versions are compatible.  Will I be able to make changes to their work when they send it to me in version 5?
Also, where would I even begin to look for a class on how to use this product?
    Thanks!

Yes, you can open up files from older versions in newer versions, it may just not always work the otehr way around. Your otehr question is too generic. We don't know what kind of work you do and pointing you to random tutorials may not at al lbe productive. If you feel so inclined, spend a little time looking up some basics video tutorials for the programs, but anything specific is best asked when you actually encounter the issues.

  • Adobe Creative Suite 4 install question.

    Hello,
I have installed only certain apps of my Adobe Creative Suite 4. The question is that if i look in the finder to the application folder there are all the folders of the application that i mark to install with color icons, but there are also folders of the applications that i DO NOT mark to install without color icons. I belive that those folders do not contain all the application because have a small size, but theiy are not empty. For what are those folders there? It is safe to remove them?
I will appreciate a lot any help or information that you could give me. Thanks for your time,
    Marcelo :)

    Hello,
It seems that this is a common issue with the installation of Adobe Creative Suite 4, i have read now the reade me file (i should read it first when i installed the apps) and there it said in common issues: "Protected Content for Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Encore, Soundbooth and OnLocation will be installed, even if those applications have been not been selected for installation. It will appear as though the applications have been installed: application folders will appear in the Start menu on Windows or in the Applications folder on Mac. However, upon attempting to launch one of these applications, an error message will appear saying "You can't open the application because it is not support on this architecture." (#BG063851) "
It does not said it we have to delete those folders or not, but since this is in the common issues section i belive this is a problem and that i should remove it. What do you think?
    Thanks,
    Marcelo :)

  • Another adobe creative suite student edition question

    hi,
i recently bought adobe creative suite 4 design premium at the apple education store for 419 dollars (before i realized it was cheaper from adobe).  i looked at adobe.com and it says the "student edition" can be used commercially.
my question is: nowhere on the apple store does it say this is the student edition.  The packaging says, "for educational individual use only," and was a shrinkwrapped case. i still had to submit my school id for verification for my serial number.  i called adobe customer support as well as the apple store and neither seemed to know what i was talking about.  is there any way to know whether my edition is the student edition and able to be used for commercial use?

I have spend countless hours waiting for an Adobe Cust Svc Rep to answer my call, (should have reached out sooner) trying to find out if you can use either version for education and commercial use, by either I mean any of the CS4  suites education or academic, (I believe the education version is the $399 one and the academic is the $599 -- it couldn't be any more confusing than it is)  -- I was wondering if  the statement you made is still correct today (things change so quickly).  Thanks for your help.

  • Creative Suite 3 Questions

I have currently purchased Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Standard and I am having problems understanding the PROPER way to design a website. For example: Can I design the website in Illustrator? Then where do I take the page in order to create buttons and links? Is it better to design the site in Fireworks? I have watched the video workshop that comes with the package but I still don't understand. I am not completely new to web design. I designed a website with Flash 2004 and Golive CS, but this new Suite has thrown me for a loop. I have many other questions and I know I probably sound stupid but I don't know where to go from here. Please help!
