General Matte Box Question...

First things first, cucumber. My O'connor O-box is built for holding onto and will take the entire weight of the F55 rig when necessary.http://www.ocon.com/products/lens-camera-accessories/o-box-wm/ I also highly recommend one pair of O-grips.   They attach directly to the O-Box itself and do not require any additional bridge plate.  If you twist the end of the O-grip to loosen it, you can rotate it on the ball joint and then lock it in to any position you want.http://www.ocon.com/products/lens-camera-accessories/o-grips/ I'll admit it makes for a heavy rig, but it is rock solid.

So with all the gazillion companies and brands and knock-offs, I am very curious whether any current Matte Boxes actually state in the user manual that it is ok to use the front of the Matte Box as grab holds when running the camera. So do you know of any? And... Do you run your camera by grabbing the Matte Box in terms of the total amount of hand held how much of it (percentage-wise) consists of grabbin the box? And finally, favorite vegetable. Gilly

  • Matte box

    Hi,
I am switching from Adobe Premiere to Final Cut and obviously have some problems figuring it out.
In Premiere I used a matte box file, which was a .gif that was basically two black bars on top and bottom and then a transparent layer in the middle.
I just put it over the the timeline and got the desired widecreen effect.
However, in Final Cut it is not transparent, it is just white. I tried saving it in different formats, including .psd, but it is still not transparent. hm?
Using the widescreen filter doesn't suit me in FCP.
    Thank you and Merry Christmas!

A couple of things to try:
    1. In FCP, use one of the composite modes on the GIF file to see if that drops the background out.
    2. Open the GIF in Photoshop and then add a new background (base) layer. Remove any unwanted background from the GIF layer, then save it as a new file in TIF or PSD format and make absolutely certain you check the SAVE TRANSPARENCY box in the 2nd "Save As" window.

  • What are these blue box question marks?

What are these blue box question marks appearing on some websites?
They seem to not appear on every website I visit, only some.
I have tried several troubleshooting steps.
    -I reset cache.
    -I changed text encoding.
-I checked bos to always display images.
-I went to "develop" and opened in every other browser.
-I updated my adobe flash player.
    What else can I do?
    It is so annoying!
    I am running Safari 8.0.

  • Best option/way to setup General VM box

We have a UC560 with about 50 users.  Most users have personal VM but a few will not.  We want to set up a GVM box and set up an indicator on a line button for all phones.  We have tried using the floating extension method but then the line button shows up as "***CUE Float" or someting like that.  Then we tried setting up a shared line with VM enabled but will only allow one user to have the VM box checked.  What is standard practice to set up a General VM box and have it monitored by every phone?  Details please.  Also, we are working strictly from cca.
    Thanks!

Floating extension + set `label` paremeter on the ephone-dn in CLI to the mailbox name.
This is the easiest way to do it. (and no, it does not break CCA)
conf t  ephone-dn ### (locate the ephone-dn for the floating ext by searching `sh run`)    label General VM    endwr mem

  • General Airport Extreme questions

I have some general questions regarding the dual band technology and how it relates to my specific setup. A bit of background:
I have 20Mbps cable internet and I am running the new Airport Extreme on a pc running XP to broadcast my wireless signal. I have an iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPad. I also have an Airport Express that I use in bridge mode so that I can connect my PS3 in a wired fashion.
    My questions:
-How do wireless networks work when you have both "g" and "n" devices? (which I do)
Does the router send out simultaneously a 2.4 and 5.0 signal for each capable device to pick up? Do the g devices pick up the 2.4 signal while the n devices pick up the 5.0? Or do all devices pick up the 2.4 signal since there are non "n" rated devices on the network? I have read many conflicting ideas on this.
    - I have spoken with multiple Apple customer service people and have gotten differing advice on how to improve my devices' connectivity to the network as I have been experiencing unacceptable levels of interference on all devices.
One rep reccomended that in the Airport Utilities, under wireless options that I check the 5GHz box to setup a seperate 5GHZ network for the n devices. Another rep dismissed this idea.
Does creating this new 5.0 network keep the network signal from being bumped down to "g" speeds when "g" rated devices are connected?
How am I to better off setting my networks up so that my n devices as well as my g devices get the best performance and connectivity?
-I use an Airport Express in bridge mode with my PS3 and it seems to be helping my connections speeds. When I was connected wirelessly, the speeds would either be non-existent or unacceptable. I know the PS3 has a "g" antenna. I have the airport express connected to the 5.0ghz wireless network in Airport Utilities. Am I actally now connecting to the 5.0ghz signal and converting to the PS3 at higher bandwidth then I would be otherwise if I was connected to the 2.4ghz wireless signal?
I appologize for the longwinded post.
Any insight I will be most appreciated as I am banging my head against the wall here.
    Scott

The default setup for the AirPort Extreme provides a dual band wireless network with a Radio Mode that looks like this:
    802.11a/n --- 802.11n/g/b
The 5 GHz band is on the left and the 2.4 GHz is on the right of the --- dashes
Also as a default, the same wireless network name is used for both bands. The theory here is that any device will automatically connect to the best signal quality. This works great for older "g" devices because they can only connect to the 2.4 GHz band, so you know where they will be at all times. You never need to be concerned about a "g" device slowing down a faster "n" device on the 5 GHz band because the "g" device cannot even connect to the 5 GHz band.
But note that newer "n" devices can connect to either the 5 GHz band or the 2.4 GHz band. So, it's possible that you may have a "n" device and a "g" device on the 2.4 GHz band and the "n" connection will slow a bit if the "g" device is really active.
It gets a bit more complicated if you have a new iPhone, which can connect at "n" speeds, but only to the 2.4 GHz band. The new iPad can connect to either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz.
Most users are better off if they leave the settings as recommended on the AirPort Extreme. That's because each device will connect to the band with the best available signal quality. Isn't that what you really want?
If you will concentrate on signal quality, which is a combination of signal strength and low noise, you'll be fine.
Most problems arise when users think that they want to connect to the 5 GHz band because the speeds can be faster there. So, they assign a separate name to the 5 GHz network and then "point" their computer at that band. The potential issue with doing this is that 5 GHz signals are much weaker than 2.4 GHz signals.
So, if the computer is several rooms away and you have "forced" it to connect to 5 GHz, you are likely telling it to connect to a signal that is both +weaker and slower+ than the 2.4 GHz signal at that location. The signal always slows down as it moves further from the router or encounters obstructions.
As I said, most users will do well to use the default settings and let each device find the best connection automatically. With a mix of a number of devices, you'll never be able to find the single "perfect" setting. With wireless, there are always compromises. No way to avoid that, I'm afraid.

  • Matte/mask question - very basic

Really dumb question- I have never fully understood the terminology, though I know conceptually what I want to do. I want to create an image matte I believe. An example would be - I have a photograph of a television set. I have made the entire screen (slightly oval) all pure black. I wish to have a layer (video) underneath it snow up, but only through this layer of black, so the image is cropped around the edge of the round-ish screen (it's an old TV). How do I do this? I'm always confused at all the composite modes - matte, mask, add, yada yada.
I know this is very basic, so I'm looking for some guidance on how to accomplish this so I know the terminology and the basics.
    Thanks

    qft.
Nothing wrong with that either !
In the interests of science and bad family entainment (which I know Mike likes to inflict on relatives. Sorry Mike, had to throw that in, still get a laugh when I think about that post) ... there is more than one way to skin the cat
Mike - if you wanted to use a matte and not a mask then you'll want to composite the image you want to use in the screen part of the tv using that part of the tv.
You'll want the "black" portion of your screen to be white. Then you'd use on another layer above that white "matte" the image or layer of video you want to appear.
So you'd have your tv box on one layer- then your white screen on anther layer - then an image/video above using Travel Matte Luma from the composite mode.
It's quick - but offers less cntrol, imo.
I like masks - personal preference only, tho'

  • General Macbook Pro questions...

I am VERY new to the Mac world and had a few questions. Any answers are greatly appreciated!
*The bottom of my macbook pro gets hot. I was told not to set it on my lap or another soft surface because it doesnt allow air in or out. My question is, I have bought a carbon fiber protective case for it. Is that ok to use or will that also prevent the flow of air?
*Is it ok to use my macbook pro while it is pluged in? Meaning will it damage the battery in any way If I use it while it is charging?
*Does any one have any tips on preventive maintence? I would just like to know is there anything I can do to keep my investment in top performance.
    Thanks for any answers!

The laptop does get hot, more so with greater activity and using the higher-performance graphics cards. Generally-speaking, a protective case will impede some heat transfer and MAY cause overheating, though presumably the manufacturer of the protective case has tested it to see if there's a problem. It's not so much a matter of air-flow (there's no vents/fans there), but radiant dissipation. The aluminum unibody is very robust, so you may not want to use the case anyway.
It's perfectly fine to use the computer when it's plugged in. It won't damage the battery in any way or reduce the battery life. However, it's good to, every once in a while, exercise the battery by using it up completely and then recharging (maybe every month or two).
There's really no preventative maintenance required. The system should perform any system maintenance periodically and independently. The only thing you really want to look out for is that it's best if you never let your hard-disk get > 90% full.
As for Time Machine, it's not "like a hard-drive". Time Machine is a versioning backup system. That is to say, it maintains a copy of your system and past versions of files on that system. If you delete a file (or e-mail message) by accident, you can recover it through Time Machine. When the user activates Time Machine, they see the current window filled with messages/icons and a bar indicating various points in time. You slide your mouse over the bar to select a particular point in time, and it restores your files to the way there were at that time. It's not a conventional backup solution (like mirroring the
disk), but it does solve a problem. You might prefer more conventional backup solutions, such as mirroring the disk to create a bootable backup disk.
You can use your old WD external 2TB drive from your Windows PC with your Mac. If you intend to use it exclusively with your Mac, I would suggest that you reformat it using the Mac filesystem (HFS+) and a GPT-type partition table (what Macs use, but also high-end PCs and servers).

  • BI switching to new ECC 6.0 box from R/3 4.7 box, question on delta init?

    Hi all,
Our BI has been already upgraded to 7.0. Currently connected to R/3 4.7.
Now a new box is made with ECC 6.0 and Oracle 8 which is a mirror copy of the r/3 4.7.Once the new box is ready the BI 7.0 connection will be switched from R/3 4.7 to the new box ECC 6.0.
    My question is ...
In the R/3 4.7 the datasources were already initialized for delta..so the pointer for delta was already setup.
Now when we connect the new ECC box do I have to initialize delta again ? or would the new system recognize the pointer since it is a mirror copy from the old system?
    pls advice

It´s a bit confusing what you write - I try to get your point:
    - your 4.7 is running on Oracle 8 (VERY old, unsupported)
    - you install a NEW system on ERP 6.0? Or do you upgrade your 4.7 copy?

  • Text entry box question

Hey all, I am currently working on a project and have run
into a snag and cant seem to find the answer, or even if what i
    need can be done.
Question 1: how do I advance a slide with the correct entry
of a text field without a button or keypress?
Question 2: if this is not possible, how can i have a text
entry box check for correct input using a custom button?
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.
    M. Anderson

    Hi M. Anderson
The first question may be accomplished if (and only if) the
last letter the user is supposed to type is unique among all the
letters. For example, BOFFO would not work. O occurs twice. But
LIFE would work, because E is unique. You could then configure the
letter E to be the shortcut for the Text Entry Box.
For the button, it's pretty easy. Click the Options tab and
look at your choices. Make sure the "Button" option contains a
check mark. After you dismiss the dialog, you end up with a rather
generic looking button. But once you enable the button, you may
then double-click it to edit its properties. You could choose an
image, or you could make it invisible and position the invisible
button over another image you placed on the slide as a simple image
    object.
    Hopefully this helps some... Rick

  • Another check box question

For some reason all my songs have become unchecked. I don't know why. Is there an easy way to recheck them all. Rather than having to click in every box? It seems that because the aren't checked Genius will not recognize them. They were all working until today.

This is another topic that should have it's own thread.
To answer your question. It depends on if you had <iTunes/Preferences/Advanced/Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library> checked. If the files were copied then you have duplicates and the files on the desktop can be deleted. If the files were not copied then the files on the desktop ARE your music files.

  • AES S-box question

I am implementing Rijndael Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). In the specification document the S-box used in the transformation routine is presented. Does this mean that the S-box does not need to be kept secret? Or should I generate my own S-box and inverse S-box arrays? If so can any one point me to where I can find an algorithm to generate the S-box.
