Smartform and SE61 General Texts - Still no answer!!!
Hi,
This is in regards to General Texts created in SE61.
In the smartform, is creating a text as include text the only way to extract data from the SE61 general text object?
Is there a FM available to do this or is the above method the only possibility?
Please help.
Thanks,
John
Edited by: John Damion on Feb 19, 2008 12:41 AMHi John,
you need to use INCLUDE TEXT only.

Create hyperlink in a General Text Object
Hi,
using transaction SE61 I want to create a hyperlink to an external site in General Text Object BBP_PRIV_STMNT_EXTERNAL. The objective is to hav this link showing instead of the confidentiality agreement in the self-registration page.
Anyone kwows how to do that?
Thanks.I'm in the same boat as you, inasmuchas I taught myself LC. I've tried to replicate your issue. I'm trying to understand where the issue actually lies.
First, I created a new document to test. I dragged the text field onto the document and stretched it to accomodate what I was going to type and entered: http://www.google.com/something
This works as intended.
Next I tried a link similar to yours in our own intranet: http://intranet/WebPages/support.aspx
That also worked.
Now, for what you're actually working with: a SharePoint document.
I tried to paste a link to a document that I created on our Sharepoint site. The link failed! I noticed that the end of the link was truncated (something like 7 characters). So, I tried a shorter link. That worked!
What else is happening when they click the link? Are they simply being asked to "check out" the document? Are you getting an error message like "an error has occured while opening the page"?

Hi all,
I designed a custom program which sends out mails.
The customer wants to maintain the body text in a table. Is it possible to maintain this text in SE61 and read it from the DB. If yes, how can I read the text ?
tiaLong Text Editor Settings
Use
You can adapt the long text editor so that it meets your specific requirements by maintaining settings for the long text editor. The default settings are defined in accordance with SAP recommendations.
Features
You can maintain the following long text editor settings:
· Save and Next
If you select this checkbox, you exit the long text editor when you save. If you use sequential processing, you access the next object in the worklist that needs to be processed.
· Line Numbering
If you select this checkbox, line numbers are displayed for the source and target texts on the left side of the split screen editor. This can be useful whenever you need to find a specific part of a text.
· Lined
If you select this checkbox, the source and target texts are displayed in the split screen editor as if they were on lined paper.
· Technical Display (Standard Long Texts Only)
If you select this checkbox, the technical history of long text objects written in SE61 is displayed to the right of the source and target texts in the split screen editor. The following information is shown:
¡ Source text:
§ Original language
§ Version
§ Status (this shows you whether the long text has been saved as a raw or active version). For more information, see Saving Long Texts as a Raw/Active Version.
§ Created by
§ Date (on which object was created)
§ Release (for which the object was created)
§ Changed by
§ Date (of last change)
§ Release (for which the object was last changed)
¡ Target text:
§ Version
§ Status (this shows you whether the long text has been saved as a raw or active version). For more information, see Saving Long Texts as a Raw/Active Version.
§ Created by
§ Date (on which object was first translated)
§ Release (for which the object was first translated)
§ Changed by
§ Date (of last change)
§ Release (for which the translation of the object was last changed)
· Number of Visible Source Text Lines
This field enables you to determine the number of source text lines you can see in the split screen editor. You can specify a value between 10 and 19. The standard is 10. You can also control this setting directly in the split screen editor by clicking the More Source Text Lines and Less Source Text Lines icons above the input area for the translation.
Activities
To define your long text editor settings, choose Utilities ® Settings and select the Long Text Editor tab page. You can then enter the settings described above. Otherwise, the standard settings are used instead.

SE63: Smartform Text translations Issue.
Hi,
I am working on ECC 5.0 for the first time and having a weird issue with Smartform text translations using SE63. After saving the text translations using SE63, When I change & activate the smartform tranlations are gone.
Can someone please throw some light on this issue?
Thanks,
Rajesh.Hi Rajesh,
Maintain the translations. Then go to smartforms transaction in that particular language's login. Type the name of smartform and from top menu, click
<b>Smartforms-->Generate</b>. If ur translations are correctly mentained, then it will get generated successfully. Then when u again activate ur smartform u will not lose ur translations.
But if u change any particular window and activate ur smartform then also u will lose translations for that particular window. In that case u hav to maintain once again, the translations.
Reward points if this answer is useful.

Hello everybody,
from which table can I read the partner general text ?
Thankx !
LucaHi,
You can't read them directly as they are stored in Pool Tables.
You need to use function module to read the texts.
Thanks,

Hi all.
I need to translate a lot of OTR texts. First I uploaded a file with the aliases, original OTR texts and all the translations to internal table. I tried to use batch input for transaction se63 (translations), but it doesn't work. Please suggest any other ways for mass OTR texts translation.
TIA,
regards, Nikolai.Hi NIk,
Hi,
Trasaction for the OTR is SOTR_EDIT .
following steps:
1: Go to Transaction SOTR_EDIT
2: Put the Alias name and display
3: Go to Change menu (Edit>Context>Change)
4:Do not choose anything in the popup. Just Hit Enter.
5: You will be in change mode. Now select the language (e.g. DE)
6: Blank out the Length field. Enter the text in Text field.
The length will come automatically. (Or you can also specify the max value here).
7: Now Press Save button. The text has been saved.
8: Now select other language from dropdown
(E.g. EL Greek) and change the Text and blank out the Length field
(you can also specify Max length here as per your choice)
And press Save. In similar way,
you can just create the OTR for Multilanguageu2019s.
9: At last save and come out. Enter another Alias and repeat the procedure.
Hope this will Help You
Thanks

Text translation in sap-script
Hi
I am using sapscript for PO printing . I need to translate some texts in the PO depending upon the language . I have the translated text in all languages . How to go about it . putting condition on language would be a tedious job . Is there some better way to perform these translations .
Awaiting response . Would reward any sort of help .
ThanksInstead Create A TExt Element and euate the text element to the corresponding field which u r transferring to the S. Script.
Suppose ur displaying : &VA_DESCRIPTION& in the SAP Script...
Then Do like this:
VA_DESCRIPTION = TEXT-001.
Now using TRANSLATION TOOL LOAD THE TEXT-001 for all useful languages with the description u already have...
Hope this is clear... For any query write back to me....
Lastly: Don't forget to give POINTS.. as we are putting extra efforts by seating late in office and trying to help u...

Morse Code to Text translation
Ok, here's my latest problem. I need to write a program that translates from one text file into another, the first being english and the second being in morse code., with a command something like:
$ java TranslatorProgram TEXTfile MORSEfileFirst things first, I have no idea how to read out of an existing text file, nor how to write into a new one. A little push in the right direction?
As for the rest of it I imagine an Iterator and a Text to Morse Map will be something I'll have to tinker with...You might want to use a map with all the letters and punctuation with their corresponding code. Use this map for your encoding part of your program. Then use a TreeNode for your decoding segment. For the tree, place the letters in it by following the dots and dashes of each letter's code. For example, 'A' would be put in the tree by looking at each character in the code, so you would put it in by going left on the tree because of the '.' then right because of the'-'. Get my point yet? Though StringTokenizer is helpful, I wouldn't recomend you using it.
