    Yes the report painter report especially in the hierarchial format will not make much sense when you download to excel. Until now I also have not seen any solution to this.

  • Saving Generated Excel Files

    Hi guys,
    I have a CF page that is generating an excel file from an
    html table. ex:
    <cfheader name="Content-Disposition" value="inline;
    filename=excel1.xls">
    <cfcontent type="application/vnd.msexcel">
    <table border="1" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="2">
    <tr>
    <th>Column 1</th>
    <th>Column 2</th>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td>Data1</td>
    <td>Data 2</td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    When the page is run, it presents the user with an excel file
    and asks if they would like to open it or save it. I was wondering
    if it's possible to save the excel file automatically. So, for
    instance, I could have scheduled tasks running that generated and
    saved an excel report without user input. Any idea on how this can
    be done? I assume it involves cffile in some way but I haven't been
    able to figure it out. Thanks!

  • Not able to generate excel file locally

    Hi guys,
    My web server & database server are on 2 different systems. I am trying to generate excel file locally but the excel is getting generated on server. Output path is
        c:\\" + output + ".xls
       There is no problem anywhere else in code. If a user on any system is trying to generate excel file it's getting
    generated on server in C drive. But the excel should generate on local system of that particular user.
    Is this code fine?
    \\c:\\" + output + ".xls

    It's on intranet, so security is not an issue.Yes, it is. Because of the inherent security problems, servers just plain can't do that. Do you think there's an "I'm running in an intranet" flag in your server? If there was, then bad guys would just set that flag on and write malware to any client that connected. Intranets aren't an excuse for sloppy security.
    Do I need to download the file from server?That's what I said.

  • How to generate excel file in oracle forms 10g on client machine

    dear Sir,
    I am using just file server(installed 10g dev suite) not a oracle application server,
    I am running my application from another machine ,it running fine i want to generate excel report on client machine
    presently i m using OLE2 for fetching the data in excel , it is working fine but it generates the excel file on file server machine and i want get the output excel on the client machine. aftre OLE2 i m using CLIENT_OLE2 with webutil (instead of OLE2) its get compile successfully but during runtime it give error "oracle.forms.webutil.ole.OleFunctions bean not "found.CLIENT_OLE2.create_obj will not work"
    *so please tell me without oracle application server is this possible or not .*

    your webutil on server side is not configured
    you need to re install the webutil jacob.dll files etc. then it will work fine..
    you can also generate excel file using reports to change the destination format in SPREADSHEET

  • Is there way to have Numbers open excel files automatically

    Is there way to have Numbers open excel files automatically when I click on my old excel files rather than opening numbers and then opening file?

    Try this: from Finder, select an Excel file. Hit Apple-i to get the file info. You'll see a section labeled *Open with:* Use the dropdown to select Numbers and click the *Change All* button.

  • How to generate excel file as output using OWB

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to generate an excel file as output using OWB.
    I am trying for a direct approach to create excel files.
    Though I know that excel can be created from a .csv file, I am looking for a direct approach to generate excel file without involving any .csv to excel conversion externally.
    Regards,
    Sri

    so, we are trying to do it by the help of oracle heterogeneous services. In my opinion it is possible (it depends on feature of ODCB Excel driver)
    For more details look at thread (it is about MS SQL Server but maybe it helps)

  • Is it possible to import excel files automatically?

    Hi,
    I am able to import the excel file manually and the same map I used in port.. format as excel.. its automatic action.. When I place the file it getting picked but giving structural exception... the same file I can manaully process successfully by selecting the same file using type as excel instead of Port...
    When I select type as port, remote system .. when  I want to select port I can see the port which I defined in console but they are disabled.. wondering where I did wrong?? is it possible to import excel files automatcially??
    Thanks
    Rajeev

    Hi,
    Yes you understood corectly.. I am unable to import excel file automatically.. I created a new port with the map which I used manually of type excel... Before placing the file in the ready folder of this newly created port.. I tried to manually import using the port type... I see the port is disable to select.....
    If I place the fiile its throwing structural exception..... but the same file I am able to import using type as excel..
    After structural exception..I am able to select this exceptional port in import manager of type port.. manually it is successfull using the same map and same file which got structural error....
    In Console report says:
    Error: MS Access is not supported on this platform.
    Error: MS Excel is not supported on this platform.
    I am working on MDM 5.5.65.95 AND WINDOWS 7 64bit..
    Any inputs.
    Thanks

  • How to auto insert a number array with size of 20 into a named excel file with the positon is from A1 TO A20?i use lv6.1

    can you give me a example vi for it ?thanks a lot!
    how to auto insert a number array with size of 20 into a named excel file  with the positon is from A1 TO A20?i use lv6.1

    You don't need us to give you an example, as the example already comes with LV. Go to Help>>Find Examples and search for "excel". You will find an example called "write table to XL". You should note that the example doesn't do that exactly, because it writes a 2D array from 2 to N.
    You can modify the example by using only one for loop (instead of nested loops) with a 1D array or by going into the Set Cell Value and modifying it to accept a second cell value for the Cell2 terminal and wiring in a 1D array instead of the single string. If you do modify it, be sure to save it under a different name, so you don't overwrite the original.
    To learn more about LabVIEW, I suggest you try searching this site and google for LabVIEW tutorials. Here and here are a couple you can start with. You can also contact your local NI office and join one of their courses.
    In addition, I suggest you read the LabVIEW style guide and the LabVIEW user manual (Help>>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf).
    Try to take over the world!

    Don't forget: these procedures are all part of the gen_xl_xml package.
    To call them from outside the package, you have to prefix each procedure name with the package name, like this:
    declare
    k_file constant varchar2(30) := 'YourFile.xls'
    begin
    gen_xl_xml.create_file(k_file);

  • How can we generate PDF file by passing a query from package to RDF?

    Hi Everyone,
    I am beginner as SQL Developer, I am stuck in one issue , that is regarding generating PDF or Excel file according to user parameters passed.
    Detail of Requirement :
    I have created one package it contains 2 functions and 1 Procedure .
    Also created xx_report.rdf for generating in PDF .
    getQuery Function Returns Query as output.
    getExcelFile function gets query as input and generate  and return CLOB file as OUTPUT.
    xx_Report  Procedure will take input CLOB file and export it to EXCEL file and save under a DEFAULT Location.
    When User Pass Excel as parameter we can generate the file , but now if User Passes the Parameter for PDF FILE then  client wants  to invoke RDF  passing same query(getQuery) to xx_Report.RDF and generate PDF from it .
    We have already Created the RDF for xx_Report
    How it is possible? to invoke RDF from PL SQL Package.
    (We are doing like this as in future if there are any changes in query we dont have to change in RDF or in Package )
    If not then please let me know the other way where i can get the PDF or EXCEL file as output according to users choice from RDF.
    ( We are not using XML PUBLISHER nor 3rd party tools)
    Only Oracle Reports Developer 11g 1.2.3.
    Please help me in this ....its urgent.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Harshil .

    Hello Narendra,
    (Specific to SAP POS General Merchandise)
    A  Tlog is binary file created by selling items via SAP POS. The file must be converted into ASCII by the use of a utility called cvtlog.exe or trickled to other systems. Once the tlog is converted to ASCII it contains all the information required to feed downstream systems such as ERP, POS DMu2026.etc.
    Hope that helps

  • Attaching generated excel file in cfmail

    Hi,
    I've attached the code in which I've generated an excel file
    from my data, which the user can then open/save on their PC. I now
    want to attach this excel file to an email (using cfmail) and send
    it (the task will then become scheduled).
    How do I save rather than output the excel file?
    Katie

    Hi,
    Have a look at the following tags:
    1)
    <cfsavecontent> to generate a variable from your
    tab-delimited content
    <cffile action = "write"> to generate a temp file with
    your content
    <cfmail> and attach that file to your email
    or
    2)
    <cfsavecontent>
    <cfmail>,<cfmailpart> to attach the variable
    directly to the email without creating a temp file first (have not
    tried that myself)
    cheers,
    fober
