Generate PDF Settings Disabled

Hello,
I’m using RH9 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine which has Word 2010.  In addition Adobe Acrobat 9.5.2 is installed.
I’m trying to create a pdf file using the printed documentation in RoboHelp HTML.  I check off Generate Adobe PDF in the settings but PDF Settings is disabled (greyed out) and a pdf file does not get created.  I am able to create a Word file.
I can see an Adobe PDF printer installed in Printer and Devices.  I can see it and also create a pdf of a page if I choose the Adobe PDF printer from File | Print Design…  I can also generate a pdf from Review | Create PDF for Review…
However, PDF output is disabled in File | Generate and in the properties of Printed Documentation.
I have seen some other posts about similar problems but have not been able to get it to work.
Is there a way to enable pdf generation using Printed Documentation?
Thanks
John

You are somewhat between the devil and the deep blue sea.
I think the issue is that Acrobat 9 is not compatible with Rh9. You need to install the PDF add-on (an option when you install RoboHelp) but if you do, it will likely wipe Acrobat.
See Item 1 at http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/rh10/using_rh10.htm
I see you are on Rh9 but I think it is the same issue. Perhaps you can check with Adobe first.

  • Generating pdf from RoboHelp gives "macro disabled" error

I'm using RoboHelp 8 -> RoboHelp HTML, and I have MS Word 2007 and "Adobe PDF Creation Add-On 9" installed.
To generate a pdf, I navigated to "Single Source Layouts" and double-clicked "Printed Documentation" (File -> Generate -> PDF should be the same), and I kept getting an error: "macros disabled. Please see printed documentation for enabling macros."
I finally went to Word 2007, pressed the "button" (upper left), selected Word Options -> Trust Center -> Trust Center settings, and selected "Enable all macros." The default setting was "Disable all macros with notification."
When I selected "Enable all macros," I could now generate a pdf - but what does enabling macros in Word have to do with generating a pdf? Maybe this has something to do with the order that Office 2007 and the "Adobe PDF Creation Add-On 9" were installed. It appears I do not have a bonafide version of Acrobat 9 installed (just Acrobat Reader 9.3), and maybe that's the problem. Thanks for any help or advice, Len

    Hi,
I am hereby giving the explanation for this issue with screenshots:
I have opened one of my RoboHELP project and right clicked on the Printed Documentation option.
Here I found that the Set as Primary Layout option is disabled. Hence I clicked on Generate…
Then the following window is displayed.
    I have clicked Next.
Then the following window is displayed
    4. I have selected the complete TOC and clicked Next
Then the following window is displayed
    5. Again clicked Next
    6. Then clicked Save and Generate.
        The following window is displayed.
    7. Then, I have clicked OK.
After a while the following window is displayed.
    Solution
1 Open a Word document. Click File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings...
    Select the Enable all macros
Now, save the document and close it.
Go to your RoboHELP source files. Now you can generate a PDF and/or a Word document.

  • PDF Settings button disabled

Trying to created Printed Documentation in RH9, but the "PDF Settings" button is disabled on the Print Document General - Printed Documentation window (I removed the client info)
I can't figure out why I can't access this button. Anyone else run into this?

You've put me on the right track, Peter. When I first ran setup.exe in the "Adobe PDF Creation Add-On 10" folder, there was this message:
This application cannot be installed on this operating system. Setup will now terminate. Please refer to the minimum
         system requirements at http://www.adobe.com/go/acrobat_system_reqs.
I then installed Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista and ran setup.exe again:
Adobe PDF Creation Add-On X cannot be installed on its own. Please initiate the installation through the product which shipped
         Adobe PDF Creation Add-On X
I then uninstalled and reinstalled RoboHelp 9 (trial download) again. During the installation process, I could see that the PDF Add-on was being installed.
And, indeed, the Adobe PDF printer driver is now visible in Control Panel > Printers and the "PDF Settings" button is finally enabled.
Many thanks for your help, Peter !!!

  • Error while generating PDF

    Hello Guru's,
I have done the ADS configuration setup and checked all configuration settings. It seems everything is working fine but when i select the option  "Print Verison" ( I have executed a query using the query  designer) i am getting above error.
FYI: Its a BI 700 system and we are at Suport pack10 level (both ABAP+Java). By the way i should let you know that it is a copy of Production.
    Here is the log:
    Error while generating PDF
    com.sap.ip.bi.webapplications.pageexport.PageExportRenderingRootNode PageExport1
    Error while generating PDF
    com.sap.ip.bi.webapplications.pageexport.PageExportRenderingRootNode PageExport#
Any thoughts as to what the messages above might be pointing me to?I should appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Ravi.

    Hello Dezso,
I have executed the test report FP_TEST_00 and i got a form containing several lines on two pages.I have checked all the configuration checks and got the correct results as mentioned in the ADS document. But when i try to print a query using the query analyzer,i am getting that PDF error. I have no issues with my other BI 700 system.

  • How to generate PDF with bookmarks?

    Hi,
The business request is to have pdf report with bookmarks. There is no predefined bookmark object in Livecycle Designer/SFP so my idea is to add some scripting to the form to generate bookmarks dynamically. I defined a standard pdf form with several lines of JavaScript embedded. The script is running in the form preview in Livecycle  Later I was testing the form by calling its function module and looking at the generated PDF file. Unfortunately it seems there is no script embedded in the final output PDF generated by ADS.
Is Javascript supported in pdf forms? Do I need to perform any additional operations to enable the Javascipt? Do I need to pass additional parameters to ADS? I tested the following settings:
           fp_docparams-fillable = 'X'.
           fp_docparams-DYNAMIC = 'X'.
           fp_outputparams-getpdf = 'X'.
           fp_outputparams-PDFTAGGED = 'X'.
           fp_outputparams-PDFCHANGESRESTRICTED = ' '.
    I appreciate any suggestion.

    Hi Lata,
May be there is some error in the JavaScript code written.
Sometimes if there is an error in JavaScript then from where the error occurs from there the JavaScript wont work in the Adobe Form.
To check whether JavaScript contains errors or not. You just simply open your Adobe Acrobat Reader goto Edit in that goto Preferences and in that Select "JavaScript" in that you find the JavaScript Debugger there you enable "Show Console on errors and messages".
This may help you in some way or the other.

  • Cannot generate PDF with RH10

I have searched the forum and Peter Grainge's site and not found a solution to this problem that worked.
I have a new installation of RH10 on Windows 7 sp1. It was installed as a trial and then licensed. I do not have the complete Adobe Acrobat -- only the add-on that was installed with RH.
I used RoboHelp HTML to create a simple webhelp project and attempted to generate a PDF from it with the single source layout for Printed Documentation. The following error occurred:

RoboHelp can successfully create a PDF of a single topic. It can create a PDF with Review > Create PDF for Review.  It can successfully create a doc from this project, and Word is able to save that doc as a pdf.
RH can open the projects that it created but cannot open the sample projects. The sample directories are read-only and I cannot reset them. I do not know why.
I uninstalled RH and reinstalled it. The problem is still occurring.
I am baffled. I am an inexperienced RH user so the problem might be a simple one. I would be grateful for any advice.
    Best wishes,
    Juliette Curtis

I was also facing this issue and got the same error.  After much trial and error I found the following solution. So sharing that here. ( I am not sure whether this works for all the use cases. But in my case it worked. I am using Windows 7, RH11, and MS Office 2010.)
Open any Office application. (I opened Word)
Open File > Options > Add-Ins. (You will be able to manage your add-ins from this tab. When I browsed through the list I found the "Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM" Addin was with the list of  "Disabled Application Add-Ins")
Select "Disabled items" from the Manage list. (This list is available at the bottom of the Add-Ins tab)
Click Go. The Disable Items window is displayed.
Select "Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin" from the list.
    Click Enable.
Click Close. The  "Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin" is moved to the list of "Active Application Addins".
    Close MS word.
Now when you generate the Printed Documentation output from RH11, the error mentioned in the query is not appearing and a PDF output is generated.
    Hope this solution will help.

  • Generate pdf with apex listener 2.0

    hi,
we would like to generate pdf out of apex.
as long as we have text (IRR) WITHOUT special characters (öäü), everything is working fine.
when we have this characters in a text-columng (IRR), then we get a .pdf with the following content:
javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: com.sun.org.apache.xml.internal.utils.WrappedRuntimeException: An invalid XML character (Unicode: 0x3) was found in the element content of the document.
could this be a problem of the characterset? but if, where to change what?
    - we defined in ADMIN in 'report printing' / 'instance-settings': oracle-apex-listener
    - we are working with apex-listener 2.0 (integrated in weblogic-server)
    - we work with APEX 4.2.1.00.08
    thanks for any ideas

  • Cannot generate pdf in RoboHelp after upgrading to Acrobat 7.0 Pro

I just upgraded from Acrobat 7.0 to Acrobat 7.0 professional.  RoboHelp will no longer generate pdfs.  Get error "Cannot locate printer driver.  Reinstall Acrobat 7.0"
Am using RoboHelp for HTML version 6.

I don't have a compatibility chart for the versions of Acrobat and RoboHelp, not sure if that could be an issue. I assume Acrobat is working otherwise - for example, if you PDF from Word
It was the case that RH had to be installed before Word. I don't think that extended to Acrobat but it could be worth trying an uninstall and reinstall.
Also try setting Acrobat's compatibility settings to something low such as Acrobat 5.
Ultimately you may have to settle for generating to Word and creating the PDF from there.

  • Printing SFP ADOBE generated pdf from spool.

I am trying to print ADOBE PDF file to HP Designjet Z5400 plotter.  It successfully writes a pdf file to the spool.  When I either release that spool file to print or have the print job set to print immediately I get a spool error - unable to read format G_RAW l_rc =128.  However I can print the pdf from preview.  It is NOT an issue with the printer printing the pdf file as I can do this.  My issue is that I cannot print directly to the printer via the SAP spooler.  I have entered incident to SAP with specific example of my program that produces the pdf spool file.  I am directed to read notes that imply I have ADS problem which is ridiculous as I have plenty of SFP generated pdf files printing to HP and Canon laser printers.  Again i am trying to print a very large label 2 X2 foot to HP Designjet Z5400 plotter directly via spool.  My task is to direct label to different printers based upon MATNR field.
I would appreciate response from only people who have printed SPF ADOBE pdf to plotters.
The pdf that was created file size 5.7 KB.

new component SAPPDFPRINT, interactive forms can be printed on any Windows printer just like all of the other spool requests with the SAPWIN device types.

  • Internal Error on Generating PDF

I'm using a fresh install of Robohelp 6, upgraded from 7 on a
winXP machine in a windows Domain. Been on call with support for an
hour an got it to 'work'.
The issue appears to now be that when logged on to the domain
the user cannot generate a PDF from within RoboHelp. Can generate
output to word and can convert doc and xls files to pdf using
Elements. The only error the user gets is that there is an
"internal error." If I log on locally as local Admin on the Machine
the PDF file generates just fine.
Finally the user is an Admin on the machine, and the only
applicable group policy is that all the local My Docs, Music, Pics
    and Videos are redirected.
Please, dying here if someone can point me in the right
    direction it would be appreciated.
As a note, I've uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted registry
    entries etc...
    Any help would be appreciated

  • HOWTO: Disallow printing/saving/selection on generated PDF?

    Hi,
    Situation:
    1) I have written a process which successfully converts X documents to X PDF files. (CreatePDF2 - service)
    2) The same process also successfully merges these generated PDF files to one single PDF. (InvokeDDX - service)
    Problem:
I can print, save and select in the merged PDF (step 2 in situation).
The end-user who receives this merged PDF file, may not be able to invoke any of these commands.
Meaning the PDF Result of the InvokeDDX service must be: non-printable + non-selectable + non-savable.
    Question:
How can I restrict these settings?
I find no such option nor in the InvokeDDX webservice, nor in the CreatePDF2 service.
I generate the DDX manually and I can fully modify the written LiveCycle process which I created a week ago.
    Thanks in advance!

    Impossible due to restricted policies.

  • Problem generating PDF bookmarks

Every time I generate a PDF for the same document, I have to reset the PDF bookmarks.  With FM7, once I set the bookmarks (which paragraph tags to include and what level to put them at) it stuck and the next time I went to generate a PDF, the setting were still there from the last time.
NOW, with the "improved" (????)  FM9, every time I make a PDF, the bookmark settings are messed up and I have to go and reset them.  There is little/no consistency.  Sometimes it just removes some of the ones I added the last time.  Sometimes it goes back to what it when I started the project.  What NEVER seems to happen is what it should do -- simply keep the settings from the last time I made a PDF of this document!  Is that too much to ask?
(yes I have all 4 patches installed)

I think Frame takes the bookmark settings from the first file in the book. So, I typically open the first file and print it to PDF with the bookmark settings I want.
THen I open the book and print the book. The bookmark settings are usually correct. And save the book after the printing is finished.
Caveat: In my workflow, I do not print the entire book but selected files in the book. When I close the PDF settings dialog, I can see that Frame is saving something (the settings?) to all the selected files. The next time it seems to remember everything OK. Because you are printing the book without selecting files, Frame MAY not save the settings in the first file. But I am not sure about this. I do know that making a PDF of the first file seems to be the best way to save the settings, at least in my workflow.

  • Help! How do I remove PDF Settings??

    Hi Folks,
I need some quick help please. We've removed the default PDF settings (such as: Smallest File Size, Press Quality, PDF/X, etc.) in order to use only our custom settings for output (this is so our users don't get confused and use the wrong settings).
Removing the defaults from these two places:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Adobe PDF\Settings
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat 7.0\Distillr\Settings
works for about 3 months, then mysteriously some kind of auto-run installer asks to re-install the settings triggered by I don't know what. Our users always click yes, thus re-installing all the defaults again, and switching our default PDF setting back to "Standard".
Ack! How do I turn this auto-intall off, or disable it?
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Zak

    Hi Bill,
Thanks, but that's not an option. If the default settings are there, someone will use them, and cause a problem in our company. My boss wants there to be no other settings, and I agree.
Why doe they auto-reinstall after I delete them? they don't seems to be necessary for creating PDFs. I certainly can make a PDF without having any defaults intalled.
How do I remove them permanently? Anyone??
    Zak
