Generate random new GUID for Config Manager Client?

How can I generate a random new GUID for Config Manager 2012 R2 client.?
I tried by deleting smscgf.ini, by using RESETKEYINFORMATION=True switch and also by doing a force reinstall of client, but the same GUID persists.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I do have a copy of my old key but it is no longer good because I reinstalled the repository with these commands:
emca -repos drop ...
emca -repos create ...
Oh, and where is emctl "documented".
I poked around in some book-index links and with the search engine.
I could not find anything.

Config manager client deployment script states the user is not a local admin

Guys I posted here a while back in regards to deploying config manager clients in a wan environment.One of the suggestions was to use Jason Sandy's script. I finally got around to playing around with the script however I ran into some strange problems
while testing.I am deploying this via the user side of group policy not the computer side. The script goes out and installs the client the problem is when our users click on any Citrix application the script pops up a message box stating "the user is
not a local admin". I don't see how that's the case because this group of users all have local admin rights on there systems. If I run this script as a domain admin or under the system account everything works smoothly. Citrix is the only application
that's doing this however this is a big deal because we deliver all of our enterprise apps using Citrix. So has anyone here ran into this before?

Impact of generating a new key for Secure Store Application

I inherited my development environment from a predecessor, who did not document the secure store pass phrase anywhere. There are a couple of projects doing development on the system that cannot be impacted, but I need to get Project Server running on the
system, and I cannot get the secure store to accept the credentials I set for the target application. I have recreated the target application several times, but nothing works.

Once you decide to generate a new encryption key, you could follow the steps in Generate an encryption Key part in the link below:

You should back up the database of the Secure Store Service application before generating a new key. Then refresh the encryption key to propagate the key to all the application servers in the farm.

Config Manager Client issues

Hi,
We are having a problem site wide with the objects.data file for the WMI repository being bloated up by the config manager client. Once the repository is bloated up we are seeing many issues such as slow log on times, group policy failing, high CPU
utilization and eventually corruption of the repository.
To illustrate this I built a machine, and installed all windows updates including the hotfix rollup for domain joined computers.
At this point I recorded the repository size.
I then installed the configuration manager client and waited.
Within an hour this happened;
Periodically from this point CPU utilization would max out.
I then used the tools available and found that there are millions of entries from config manager in the repository.
According to the WMI teams blog, 300mb+ is very large for a repository. We have hundreds of machines now with repositories between 600mb to a gb in size.
My question is this, is this intended behaviour? the performance impact and logon issues caused by this behaviour are forcing us to consider replacing config manager entirely.
Just to add, we are running Config Manager 2012 SP1

This for anyone else that has the same issue.
CU2 did nothing to improve the problem. I do however, know what's caused it. The problem is related to using Configuration Manager to deploy windows updates. If I disable the update agent and try the same tests on a machine the repository does not bloat.
Another poster mentioned earlier about a large number of policies- we don't have that- unless you include the fact that every update seems to count as its own separate deployment rather than one deployment per update package.
So if Configuration Manager is designed to store information about each update in the objects.data then I'm assuming that's why the repository is so large- a recipe for slow machines and crashes.
Basically using Configuration Manager to deploy windows updates seems like a very bad idea at this point- unless I'm missing something.

Could you pls instruct me the configuration settings to generate a new version for PO header text change? I secceeded in other fields, e.g. Inco Term, Order Qty, Delivery date, but failed in header and Item Text.

Thank you very for the feedback.
The 4th point of note 664928 says "This is not a change to print-relevant texts". I assume there is a way to configure the text as a "print-relevant text" and I confirmed my texted is configured for printing for operation 1 & 2 (create and change order) in:
MM > Purchasing > Messages > Texts for Messages > Define Texts for Purchase Order.
Still not working. Any idea? Do I miss anything? Thanks!

Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over.

How to generate a new rhread for every request

Hello,
I'm trying to write a server side program that does the following, recieves a Single connection from a client, client sends a request to the server side program, the server side program sends to a third party(back end) and waits for a reply.
The problem i am facing is the following, I want to for each message(request) recieved from the Client to generate a new thread and establish a new connection with the third party, I have tried creating a new thread for the communication with the third party, in this case if the response from backend takes time I will still be able to recieve other requests from the client. But I dont know how to return the message that his been to the Father thread. The reason why I am doing this is that I dont want the same thread that recieves the request from client to wait until the reply for the previous thread is sent.
Here's the code which I have been trying to implement.

How can I return the String "replyFromBE" to the ClientCommunicator class so it can be sent to the client as soon as recieved from the back end.

I assume the problem you are having is that your ClientCommunicator thread is blocking in a read and has no way of receiving notification from the other thread. Seems like you have a couple options at least.
1. Use non-blocking IO and a selector to do service both the client socket and the backend socket. Usually, NIO is more of a pain than it is worth unless you need to service hundreds of connections at once, but I think that in this case where you know that there are only two connections it might be easy enough to use.
2. A second option would be to avoid blocking on the read by using the available method on the input stream to first determine if you can actually read anything. This would allow you to wait with a small timeout on a monitor that the backend communicator could notify when it receives a response. This is not the ideal solution because you are limiting how fast you respond to the client and could be using more cpu time than necessary. However, it might be a lot easier to implement and could be adequate for what you need.
First solution is more elegant but potentially not worth the trouble. Second solution is less elegant, but may be good enough.

Scheduling question for Config Manager Software updates (Patching)

Hi,
With the normal WSUS process, we were able to set the time the system would start installing the update.
What is the equivalent of this in Config Manager 2012 sp1?
Is the installation deadline time, when the software is installed or is it when its made available?
How do we force it to do the update between 6-7am?
Would we set the available time to 6am and installation deadline to 7am?

Hi,
If you use maintenance window, you'd have to look at the logs to see why it did not deploy during the maintenance window. If the client failed to download the policies before or during the maintenance window.
Servicewindowmanager.log tells you when it detects windows and what's available.
Updatesdeployment.log shoudl tell you when updates are deployed, if they are.

That what i created Software components for as per region like SA(South America), North Americ , Europe, Asia Pacific,we developed interafces for above regions,that why created software compinehts like that.
Then i created name spaces inside outbound and inboud to easy to diffentiate ..like that i had done.
If you are with PI7.1 betetr to go for Folders,create folders and move objects.

Generate a new UUID for ICE Syndication

We have created a new node for our portal in another region by copying over the database and files. Everything seems to be okay, but the UUID in the ICE Syndication / Subscription is the same as the node we copied from. So it doesn't work right when I try to have both nodes as subscribing to another node. There is a conflict with the UUID. How can I force the system to regenerate a new UUID? This is EP7 SPS10

For anyone interested, I found the fix for this in SAP note 883859 #5. Involves importing a clean configuration.
