"You can use the contact line as a link back to your site instead of an email link. Matthew at theturninggate.net also has some very nice gallery index templates that help navigate to different galleries."
Yes, Matthew's photo galleries look good and each has several button which link elsewhere. I didn't understand, though, your comment about his templates. Does he generate the templates, and are you saying that he can share a template with someone?

  • DreamWeaver CS3 Web Photo Gallery Help

I bought the Adobe Web Design package to put together a good
(hope springs eternal) Web site to showcase about 60 oil paintings
that are presently available at different poster sites. I am a
novice to DreamWeaver; started my basic web page. I now need to add
the photos in 6 different galleries - landscapes, waterscapes, etc.
I assumed I was going to do this in Photoshop CS3/Fireworks and
import it to the site I am building with DreamWeaver, but 2
    problems confront me:
    (1) I could not find a Photoshop CS3 photo gallery template
that allows for a text paragraph adjacent to a larger image when
clicking on thumbnails laid out on the side or the bottom of the
    page, or am I wrong?
    (2) It appears that Photoshop CS3 generates an independent
web page for the photo gallery - is it even possible to import a
photoshop cs3 web gallery into an existing DreamWeaver CS3 web
    page?
Appreciate any info in this area. Thanks.

Dunno as I do not have CS3; but I've used Photoshop a lot to
    generate
galleries, then I modify them. I think your main sticking
    point is
that you haven't found a Photoshop gallery that is close to
    what you
    want, is that correct?

What's to import? Photoshop outputs web pages and DW edits
    web pages.
    Edit away.

  • Using javascript in modified Aperture web page themes

Thanks to the many well-written tutorials on the subject, I've been able to modify an existing Aperture web theme to export customized web pages that have the exact look I'm after. I've successfully copied the Stock theme, edited the detail and journal-gallery html along with the global.css files and merged with a professional template I purchased, so now my Aperture-generated galleries look just like the rest of the pages on my web site.
Of course, there's always a problem:
If I reference any Javascript from the Aperture template files, Aperture EXECUTES the script during the process of exporting the web pages, and includes the result of the Javascript execution in the rendered HTML. It does this IN ADDITION to correctly writing the Javascript reference to the rendered page. The end result is TWO of everything. An example will make this more clear:
If I include the following line in journal-gallery.html:
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="assets/scripts/sidebar.js"></script>
    and the file sidebar.js contains:
    document.write('Home
document.write('<'t find a single reference to the use of scripts. CLEARLY APERTURE KNOWS ABOUT JAVASCRIPT AND EXPECTS TO FIND IT BECAUSE IT'S EXECUTING ANY SCRIPT IT COMES ACROSS!!!
The goal of all this, of course, is what any large professionally-done web site strives for: I don't want to re-render all my static content (the photo galleries) every time I add or remove a link in the sidebar. Editing sidebar.js should be all that's required to change the links.
    Anyone?

Sorry, I see that the Javascript snippets in my original post are being executing by the web browser when the message is read.
The 2 lines of Javascript, cleverly (ahem) encoded, might be visualized:
    document (dot) write ( <html anchor tag>Home<close html anchor tag>);
    document (dot) write ( <html anchor tag>Site Map<close html anchor tag>);

  • Doubt concerning licence  - generating web galleries with Bridge CS4

Hi, I would like to know if I could generate web galleries with Bridge CS4 and place them in web pages which I intend to sell? There is a possibility to generate web galleries in Bridge CS4. Can I place any of them to a web page which I want to sell?

Why do you even doubt it?
If you use a brush and a bucket of paint to create a for-sale sign and sell that sign to your neighbor to stick in his lawn, would you be asking the manufacturers of the paint and of the brush if you can sell it your sign commercially?
    Come on, get real.
As long as you are not giving away copies of the software or pieces of its code, Bridge and Photoshop are just tools.

  • Html web galleries not generating

    I am using LR 2.4.  Mac G4, 10.4.11
Last night I tried to generate an html gallery with about 350 photos.  After about five hours, it was not done.  So I gave up.
Today, I cannot even get html galleries TO DISPLAY, much less generate/export.  (Flash galleries will display.)
No matter which gallery template I use, and not matter how few photos I use as a trial, I am now just getting a black screen.  The first time I tried today, the first dozen or so thumbnails filled in, then in place of following thumbs, I got question marks; but now i only get a black screen where the gallery should be.
The folders containing all of the photos in question, have recently been synchronized and are all up to date.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Dean

    What does Activity Monitor reveal?
Sounds like you may have stretched the hardware beyond its capabilities, and a restart may cure.
How much RAM and how much free disk space out of how much? Do you generally work with most apps quit while in LR?

  • Why is DOCTYPE When Galleries Are Generated

Is there some reason that the DOCTYPE of the web gallery templates is changed when gallery pages are generated by the "Export Web Pages" command?
    The change is from
    "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"
    to
    "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"

Why do you keep mentioning Google?
This is your webpage. Notice the URL. That's what you type in the addressfield.
    http://www.sullydesigns.co.uk/
And this is your page first page :
    http://www.sullydesigns.co.uk/sullydesigns/Greeting-cards/Greeting-cards.html
And sullydesign is the sitename. The site was published this morning :
    local-build-20140124
And yes, it appears some images are missing :
You also may want to redesign your webpage, because it doesn't look :
I leave it to others to explain what to do. My command of the English language is not sufficient. And my vocabulary may annoy the Commmunity Host.

  • Flash Galleries generate multiple image folders

Can anyone explain why the Flash templates need to generate 3 image folders (Large, Medium, Small) in addition to the Thumbs? I'm pushing my disk space limit on my hosting server, and wonder if I really need to upload all these, as the combined size of the Small and Medium folders exceeds that of the Large folder, and I don't know what purpose they serve (though of course I don't know how Flash works, at all)
    Any input appreciated

Bluefire developed the Adobe Media Gallery (i.e. the Flash gallery packaged with Lightroom) and have posted a lot of interesting information about it in their blog. Definitely worth reading up on if you plan to use it.

  • Auto generate a web gallery index page in web module for output multiple galleries

As an extension of a Web Gallery, it should be possible to create an entire gallery page with sub galleries in Lightroom. it will be great if it is also template based.

    See

  • Help with structuring SQL databases for multiple photo galleries..help!?!

    Hello all,
As a new PHP/SQL developer I have found great technical assistance from both this forum and from David Powers and his wonderful books. I am at a crucial point in my web development and although I believe I know which direction I need to go, I am still uncertain and so I appeal to you all for your help, especially David Powers.
The website I am building is one which will house many photo galleries. I was able to successfully modify the code provided in David Powers’ book ‘php Solutions’ so that I got the photo galleries constructed and working in the manner I desired.
That being said, a person browsing my website will be presented with a link to see the photo galleries. There will be five (5) categories in which the photos will be separated, all based on specific styles. Now that I have the galleries working, I need to know how to structure things so that I can create a page, like a TOC (table o’ contents) that shows all photo galleries by displaying a thumbnail image or two along with the description. Perhaps I’ll limit the TOC page to only show the latest 25 galleries, arranged with the most current always on top.
The way I have my galleries set up, I have a separate database for each one, containing the photo filenames and other relevant data. To build my TOC structure, should I have an overall database that contains each gallery database filename along with category? This is where I have no idea what I’m doing so if my question sounds vague, please understand I have no other idea how to ask.
The site will grow to the point of having hundreds, if not thousands of photo galleries. I simply want to know how to (organize them) or otherwise allow me to build a method to display them in a TOC page or pages.
I know this is a bit dodgy, but with some info and questions back from you, I feel confident that I should be able to get my point across.
Lastly, I am still developing this site locally, so I have no links to provide (though I feel that shouldn’t be necessary right now).
Many sincere thanks to you all in advance,
    wordman

    bregent,
I'm chewing this over in my head, reading up on DB's in 'phpSolutions' and I think that things are slowly materializing.
Here is the structure of the website that I have planned:
    MAIN PAGE
User is presented with a link on the main page to select photo galleries (other links are also present). Clicking the link takes them to the Category Page.
    CATEGORY PAGE
On this page, the User will then have 5 choices based on categories (photo style). CLicking any of these 5 links will take them to respective TOC pages.
    TOC PAGE
On this page, the user is greeted with a vertical list of galleries or photosets; one to three thumbs on the left, a small block of descriptive text on the right (ideally containing date/time info to show how recent the gallery is). Newest galleries appear at the top. Eventually, when there are tens or hundreds of galleries in any given catrgory, I'll need to adopt a method for breaking up the qualntity in groups (we can pick 20 for example) that can be scrolled through using a small navbar. This will keep the TOC Pages from getting endlessly long and avoid endless scrolling. User selects a gallery on this page to view.
    THUMBNAIL PAGE
On choosing a gallery, a thumbnail page is generated (I have this working already)
    IMAGE PAGE
On selecting any thumbnail in the grid, the user is taken to the full-sized photo with a navbar and photo counter at the top. Navlinks allow forward and back, a link to the first image, a link to the last image and one link back to the thumbnail page. (I have this working already).
I provide this info in an effort to help understand the basic structure of my site. The description above is as close to a step-by-step illustration as possible.
    Thank you!
    Sincerely,
    wordman

  • IWeb and Aperture Galleries

I am wanting to use Aperture to create all my Web Photo Galleries. I currently have a fairly extensive iWeb site. Is there a way to export the Aperture gallery to iWeb? It would make sense right? What is the best way to intergrate the Web Gallery feature in Aperture with a pre-existing iWeb site?

I just finished putting a 38 page site together in iWeb. Most of it was a set of photos from a trip to the Amazon, Machu Picchu, and the Galapagos (http://web.mac.com/donoshea). All the the images on that site were imported into Aperture, adjusted and cropped there, and then exported to iWeb. The export method, however, was simply to drag the previews in the Aperture window, into the appropriate photo album window in iWeb.
I found while using this process, there are few precautions that should be taken. First, be sure that the preview size (bottom section of Preferences for Aperture) are large enough to display well on most monitors. I use "Fit within 1280 x 1280*). Second, update the previews and force a "Generate Previews" if any of the images were modified by an external editor, such as Photoshop.
So I built the site as I adjusted the image in Aperture. I tried the Aperture web galleries and found them too stolid for a personal and family web page.
One other advantage to using Aperture as a prep for iWeb is that after rating the images I thought I wanted on the web site, I grouped the logically or chronologically for display on the web pages, then stacked them for tidiness. If the stack was greater than 8 for a two-page spread, I either cut the number of images (just drop the rating below the selected one) or redistributed the images between stacks to tell the story.
I hope this may be of use to someone,

  • Web Galleries. Can be avoid "download"?

For us, professionals, web galleries in AP2 could be a help, but I don´t give images, I sell them, so I would like to know if it can be avoided the option "download" when a web gallery is created.
    Regards.
    Guillermo

You just un-check the option "allow downloading of:". Aperture will just generate very small JPEG versions of your images and upload them to your .mac account. These small JPEGs will not contain any metadata and be limited to approx. 800 pixels. However, these small JPEGs can still be downloaded by anyone visiting your web album.
You may want to put a large "Copyright" right onto the image using Photoshop.
For commercial use you may want to consider using another web album service and using one of the several export plug-ins available from the download section of the Apple website.

  • Web galleries : statistics & comments

    Hi all,
Web galleries generated by LR already great. Nevertheless, I would be happy to some more functionalities in HTML galleries, here are the two main functions:
    - Statistics: View counter. Each time a person click on a picture, a counter would be incremented. This should be very interesting to know which pictures are considered as interesting.
    - Comments: Each person on the web could add a comment to explain why a picture is or isn't appreciated. This is again a very interesting feedback for the photographer.
In an HTML gallery, I would think that these functions can be provided by using CSS possibilities and probably some lines of PHP. I wonder if some of you could show an example? Or could help me by providing some hints?
    Thanks,
    PH

  • Web galleries put images under a bin directory

The web galleries put the images (both thumb and large) in a path like content/bin/images/... For hosts that use Microsoft Internet Information Server, the bin part of this path breaks the link to images, so they don't display. WHY IN G's NAME do you use bin? bin is for executables, in both unix and Windows, surely.
Because I use a host that uses IIS, I can't use Lightroom-generated web galleries.

Open the folder default_html.lrwengine (it's inside the lightroom app folder) (you should make a backup copy just in case)
    Open the file galleryInfo.lrweb
    after the line ["photoSizes.thumb.width"] = 130,
    Add
    ["photoSizes.large.directory"] = "large",
    ["photoSizes.thumb.directory"] = "thumb",
    In grid.html change the line <img src="$others/bin/images/thumb/<%= image.exportFilename %>.jpg" id="ID<%= image.imageID %>_thumb" alt="" class="thumb" />
    to <img src="$others/thumb/<%= image.exportFilename %>.jpg" id="ID<%= image.imageID %>_thumb" alt="" class="thumb" />
    and in detail.html change <img src="bin/images/large/<%= image.exportFilename %>.jpg"
    to
    <img src="large/<%= image.exportFilename %>.jpg"
    That should get you going.
As to why it uses bin? no idea..

  • Using Lightroom web galleries with iWEB

Adobe Lightroom has a very nice gallery template that can be used to create a gallery page. It outputs the page to a folder with the associated files, includingindex.html.
I would like to use this approach for presenting the galleries rather than the photo pages in the iWEB template I am using.
I have searched here, the Adobe forums as well as some dedicated to photography.
    A solution escapes me.
I have no interest in learning HTML or other website programming skills.
I am looking for a cut and paste solution.
    Thanks.
    David

Ok now I'm assuming you have a .mac account like you said. When you click on the icon of the idisk in your finder, close finder and open idisk from your desktop. Then go through the hierarchy as I said, and drop your folder in the final iWeb folder. The page has to generate at that point. Then do what I told you to do i.e. http..........to see the page. Once you get the established address of the page, copy it. Then go to your iweb doc and establish a page where you would have text and maybe an image to link to your new gallery. Go into your inspector click on make hyperlink active and and enable as a hyperlink when you either highlight your text you want or the image that's going to link to your gallery. This is going to be an external page you want to link to so put that in. Then paste your new gallery page address into the area to let it know. Let it know you want to open page in a new window...check that, and that should be it. But you must delete the apple address in the external page info thats already their. Also, what version of iweb do you have? I have '08. My external pages were with either iphoto or a photoshop web gallery.
    I hope I didn't confuse you further.....Good luck.....Christina

  • Bridge/Lightroom Galleries in DW? [subject edited by moderator]

I own DreamWeaver CS5 and I subscribe to Bridge CC and Lightroom 5. I have created photo galleries in both Bridge and Lightroom and want to embed the galleries into a DreamWeaver page. But neither program loads in my dreamweaver page. Anyone know why?

Bridge generates Flash slideshows which won't load until you preview them in a supporting browser with appropriate Flash player plugins.  And since Flash is a dead web technology (most mobile and tablet devices don't support it), you will be alienating a lot of your web audience who can't view Flash.  For these and other reasons, jQuery and HTML5 galleries are a much better choice on the web.
