Generation/Level Names in Planning?

Has anyone found a good way to add Generation and Level Names into a Planning dimension? I'd like to use these on a few very deep dimensions to assist in reporting (both development and usage), but can't seem to find a reference to this in the UI or searching the web for it.
Thanks!

It's actually a very specific question. Essbase has the ability to name generations and levels within a dimension, and I would like to use this in Planning.

please browse the org structure via PPOSA_BBP.
It is the backbone of SRM. It maps the organisation data with backend

  • Level names on row axis

    Hello:
I am wondering is there any way we can display the level names and/or dimension name ( not the values, but the object name/label) in the row axis of a crosstab when using Discoverer OLAP or Excel? Currently it just shows the dimension values and users are losing the ability find out which level they are. It is obvious for dimension such as Time where you can understand whether you are at Year/Qtr or Month. But, for other dimensions with deep hierarchies, it becomes an issue.
    Any ideas?
    Suresh.

The tools don't provide this capability. You could model this in the AW by creating a measure (e.g., 'Product Level'). The measure would be one dimensional (e.g., by Product). You could map it to the dimension table (that is, use the dimension table as a fact table).

  • Cell-Level Documents in Planning 11.1.1

Would I need to use the EPMA front-end to be able to use the cell-level documents in Planning forms feature or could I get this feature using classic administration? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
It applies to both classic and epma planning applications.

  • Security at a dimension level in a Planning Application (ver 9.3.1)

    Hi,
I'm dealing with the Assign Access process in the Dimensions pane.
Is it possible set access at dimension level?
How can I set the member Account (root of Account Dimension) visible for only a subset of user?
    Thanks in advance.
    Stefano

    Hi Stefano,
I'm currently using Hyperion Planning version 4.0.2. I tried using the ImportSecurity.exe file to update the security for the top member in Entities dimension (ie the dimension name itself) but it kept giving me this error:
Record not processed -Finance,Entities,READ,MEMBER- Invalid Member name.
All lines in Import Security file were successfully parsed.
No records inserted into the database.
1 Lines were not processed by the application due to errors.
My secfile.txt file looks like this:
    Finance,Entities,READ,MEMBER
    Am I doing anything wrongly?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Deleting a top level dimenson in planning

I acciddentally added a member as a top level member in Hyperion Planning. It added a new dimension and i am unable to delete it. is there a step i am missing. i can only find the steps to delete children.

This procedure should only be performed by your SQL or Oracle DBA. BE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR APPLICATION BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS PROCEDURE. You will need to delete all the children first, then the dimension. If you have the dimension in forms, you may also need to (after step 5) go into the hsp_formobj_def_mbr table and delete all references of that object ID. Then delete the dim id in the hsp_form_layout table. Recycle services of Planning. Procedure:If you create a custom dimension in planning and wish to delete it, here is how you might remove it from SQL manually. We recommend that only someone familiar with relational databases attempt this. The following assumptions are being made about the dimension: * No forms have any references to the dimension.* Any and all attribute dimensions have been removed from the dimension.* Any and all members have been removed from the dimension.* All security access has been removed from dimension.* Any Alias associated with the dimension has been removed. In this example we have created a dimension called Dummy Dimension. 1. Open the Enterprise Manager for SQL server2. Open the database that has your planning application3. Open the table HSP_OBJECT4. You need to find the row that has the dimension name you want to delete:5. Take note of the OBJECT_ID in my example it is 50051, don't delete it yet.6. Open the table HSP_MEMBER7. Find and delete any rows that have a MEMBER_ID equal to the OBJECT_ID from step 5.8. Close the Table HSP_MEMBER9. Open the table HSP_MRU_MEMBERS.10. Find and delete any rows that have a DIM_ID equal to the OBJECT_ID from step 5.11. Close the table HSP_MRU_MEMBERS.12. Open the table HSP_DIMENSION13. Find and delete any rows that have a DIM_ID equal to the OBJECT_ID from step 5.14. Close the table HSP_DIMENSION15. Also delete it's reference from the HSP_UNIQUE_NAMES table.16. Delete the row in the HSP_OBJECT table that you found in step 4.17. Close the HSP_OBJECT table.18. Restart application server.19. Open Essbase Application Manager for the application and remove the dimension from the necessary Essbase outlines. Now when you open the application in Planning the dimension will be removed. The next step is to perform a refresh to make sure planning and Essbase are in sync.

  • What is the best expression to name the planning flow on SAP?

I am working on my graduating project in this topic: configuring the planning flow on SAP for the different types of industries.
By planning flow, I am talking about S&OP -> Demand Management -> MRP. But what's the best way to refer to this flow?
    I already thought about:
"industrial planning" but it's too general and not precise.
"production planning" but it already refers to the PP module, which deals with other functions than what i am meaning.
"logistic planning" but it refers mainly to the operational level (ressources, workshop management, scheduling) while my work stops at MRP (tactical level)
Can you help me to find the best designation?

OK, I got it now... You are going to love this!
"Advanced Planner and Optimizer", or in short "APO".
The abbreviation even has a website shortcut already www.sap.com/apo and there is a whole instant community already there waiting for you.
    What a bargain!  :-)
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • Function Module to get the node name in particular level name in Hierarchy

We have a requirement to update the 4th level node name to all materials.
So we have created the attribute to this 0Material and thought of updating in the transformation.
Could you please suggest us to which function module i can in this scenario.
    Thanks in advance,..

Can you explain in more detail what exactly you want to do?
do you want to limit hierarchy to level4?

  • Catching an error from the component level in a plan?

I have components that installs a software package (using the LINUX rpm install plugin). These components are called in sequence from an SPS
"Plan". If any one of the rpm's to be installed by the plan might already have been installed, the rpm exits with an error message and a "1" exit code.
That exit, causes the whole install to stop dead in its tracks.
I have tried a "try and catch" to be allow the installation to continue
when that situation exists. Howvever, at the "Plan" level all I can catch is
any error. If a bad error; that is one that is not an "Exit 1" because the
rpm was already installed, but rather something that needs to stop the
entire plan ... the "catch" will ignore those errors as well.
Without modification of the SUN component install plugin, how in XML does one know what the exit code is from the install plugin
    (a) within the component that calls the install plugin
    (b) insde the plan XML that calls the component XML that calls the plugin
Are there global variables, passed return codes, inherited parameters or something that facilitates the passing of exit codes from plug-in to XML component to XML plan?

    Hi,
Hope you have gone through the mentioned Notes for the pre-requisites. I checked the second Note which shows New and can not be implemented.
You can check whether the similar Notes have already been implemented in your system. Check with your BASIS team

  • Report generation insert name

I need to insert a name for a cell or range of cells. Can I do this with the Report Generation toolkit?

I needed to define a name using Labview for a cell or range of cells so that I can use the name in formulas and a summary worksheet. Using Report Generation VI's, I was able to place data in cells using names, but did not see a VI to define a name. My Excel spreadsheet will have 16 worksheets with data in rows. The amount of data will vary, so I find the last row in each worksheet and place my sum and / or averages after the last row of data. I then wanted to assign a name such as "Range1_NT" to the cell. A summary worksheet will reference to and display the values of "Range1_NT", ......  instead of a cell designator "$B$123".

  • Which table containes dimension member names in planning database
