Generic AC adapter vs. Apple AC adapter

I have a generic AC adapter that I used on a previous MP3 player that worked great but doesn't seem to charge my iPod. My iPod charges fine with my PC. Does it look like you need to purchase the Apple AC adapter? Anyone else have a similar problem?

Uh, how are you plugging it into your iPod?
The dock connector is Apple proprietary and if your connector fit on a different MP3 player, it's not a dock connector.
If it takes a USB cable, you can plug your iPod cable into it just fine.

  • Laptop battery and generic MagSafe adapter

    My MagSafe adapter went dead. If I use a generic MagSafe adapter the ones that you buy on ebay. Would  this damage my laptop battery?

    I would avoid those - I tried it once in my old 15 inch Macbook - and for some reason - it only works when it wants to and my battery needed to be replaced after a couple of months (coincidence maybe?).
    So spend the extra $20 for the Apple Branded Magsafe.
    Then again, that's just my suggestion.

  • How to write Generic JMS Adapter

    I want to write generic JMS Adapter. Any link , resources and ideas will be helpful for me.

    Thanks. I saw the ServiceMix. But I am unable to understand the XML file ie ServiceMix.xml. Any kind of help in understanding it will be very helpful. I want to know what changes are required to be made in ServiceMix.xml to communicate from one message Server to other. Being more specific we are not using any application server. We have embedded OpenJMS. That is OpenJms is used for the messaging purpose.

  • Generic JMS Adapter for SeeBeyond

    Hi Guys,
    I am trying to post a mesage on a SeeBeyond JMS queue and so, I have to access it using a JMS Adapter of Generic Type. (as SeeBeyond JMS service does not support a JNDI lookup)
    To do the same, we have already imported all the JAR files needed to access a SeeBeyond JMS service into out XI Server.
    Any help on how to configure a JMS adapter Generically to accees the SeeBeyond JMS in specific or how to configure a Generic JMS adapter would be very helpful.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Generic Bluetooth Adapter Disabled CODE 43

    What I have done. 1) Installed latest firmware2) Installed lated Wifi adapter driver.3) Installed HP Connection manager4) Installed HP Support Assistant5) Uninstalled, Removed and Deleted current Generic Bluetooth driver and reinstalled.6) Managed the Adapter settings to Enable Bluetooth.7) Searched the whole insterwebs for a fix that works for me and found nothing.8) Found a gun range that will allow me to use this laptop as a target. Please save this poor laptop from being a target at a gun range. HP FIX THIS PROBLEM PLEASE! Thank you!

    Wow, I am stumped too. Maybe it is time to take it to the range! If the bluetooth radio wasn't working, I would think that it wouldn't register any bluetooth devices. If you decide to replace the card, I recommend you get the Intel dual band card listed in the service manual. You can probably get one cheap on eBay by querying by the HP part number. Your notebook has a BIOS whitelist which locks out any unsupported wireless cards. You have to get a supported card listed in the manual, and it must have the HP part number on it or it won't work.

  • Generic File Adapter Schema

    I am trying to pick up a .csv file that doesn't comform to a strict format, mainly because of human formatting errors in the file.
    I've tried to create a fixed length schema and a comma delimited schema but both fail as soon as they get a file that doesn't exactly fit. How should I create the schema to cope with a file like this?
    Regards
    Jen

    I too am trying to accomplish something similar.
    My file is tab delimited and has 10 fields. It begins with 6 lines of header and ends with 1 line of footer. The Header is easy enough to skip over, but the footer is causing me no end of problems because the file Adapter is rejecting the entire file when it hits this malformed line. I tried to turn on uniqueMessageSeparator as ${eol} but that didn't seem to do anything different (I suspect it is because ${eol} is also a field terminator for the last field but I'm not sure).
    Ideally I'd like to say any line that has 9 tabs is a Data line, and any line that doesn't is a NotData line but I haven't found any functions that will take a regular expression match as a condition for processing in the XSD.
    I tried using the "choice" method of conditional processing but is seems that I must provice a string that is an exact match for nxsd:conditionValue and not a regex. I don't have a spcific string to look for.
    I also tried to use the "Sequence" method of conditional processing that will treat any record that doesn't begin with a digit as a NotData Message of 1 string element terminated by ${eol} and any record that begins with 8 digits (which is a date in YYYYMMDD format) as a Data record using the "nxsd:startsWith" function but it seems I can only create multiple message types on files when there is some specific string to test. That's not going to work for me. There is no specific string on the records to identify them. The format of the line could be used to identify the records if a function supporting a regex could be found.
    When I tried to deploy the "Sequence" method using a regex for the nxsd:startsWith value it seemed to put my BPEL Process into an infinite loop consuming 100% CPU. I had to kill the app server to stop it.
    A detailed reference on how the File Adapter processes files and what functions are available for ignoring bad records and/or conditional processing would be appreciated. Also, any more ideas on how to get this file parsed would be appreciated.

  • Re: Satellite A200 - Problem with Generic AC Adapter

    I own an A200 running Windows 7; I've had it for a few years and the battery had degraded to the point where it only held a small amount of power, so I ran it on AC power pretty much all the time. However the plug at the end of the power cord (where it plugs into the computer) gradually became looser and looser to the point where I had to twist and turn it and wrangle it just so in order to get power to flow into the computer; the other day it stopped working completely.
    I went out and bought a third-party AC adapter ('Lite-On'); I'm in a foreign country, but the adapter had the same type of plug and the same power specs (same input range, same voltage output) as the busted adapter that had come with the computer. When I plug it in, all the power-supply LEDs light up and it seems to be working perfectly. When I start the computer, however, sometimes I'll get a screen that says 'Windows failed to start...possibly due to an interruption in the power supply' despite all the LEDs remaining solidly lit during startup. This only happens occasionally; what happens every single time is that within a minute or so all the LEDs will turn off and the computer will instantly shut down; the LEDs will then light back up again instantly. Sometimes this happens during the start-up process, and sometimes I'm able to get as far as logging onto Windows before it shuts down.
    Can someone please tell me what the problem might me?

    After reading your posting I also believe that this issue has nothing to do with AC power supply.
    There must be some other reason for these switch offs.
    In most case this behaviour is typical for overheating. In short period of time hardware reach critical temperature level and notebook simply switch off without any warning.
    You can do small test: start your notebook and enter BIOS settings. Leave it for a while and see if the same will happen again.
    As Akuma already wrote, try to clean the cooling vent and cooling grill.
    Problem is that dust blocks cooling grill and notebook cannot be cooled down properly.

  • 30'' Cinema Display with mini-display-port to dual link DVI adapter usb hub

    Hi all, I don't know if any one of you experience this issue and can help me.
    I am using an unibody macbook pro (late2008 model) to connect to a 30'' cinema display via the famous $100 mini diaplay port to dual link DVI adapter. I have connected the usb cable from the ACD to the adapter and the usb cable of the adapter to my macbook pro. This setting works fine under OSX 10.5.7.
    When I am using Windows Vista under bootcamp the USB hub on the back of the ACD doesn't work. The device manager of Vista shows an excalmatory mark besides the device "Generic usb hub"; and it reports a problem of "the device cannot be started".
    I doubted this problem is due to Windows cannot recognise the $100 adapter as a "generic usb hub"; and apple has not release a driver for this $100 adapter for windows.
    Since my MBP only has 2 usb ports and the $100 adapter already occupied one, it would be very much helpful if the usb hub of the ACD can work just like in OSX. Can anyone think of any suggestion?
    Much appreciated for reading this post and thank you.

    i don't have an answer for you, but i feel your pain. very frustrating when this happens with Apple products and Vista/Bootcamp. wish they were more compatible, for it would make things so much easier for the consumer.

  • Boot Camp 2.x and Windows XP incompatible with Radeon 1600 Video Adapter

    Using Boot Camp Assistant 2.0 from a Leopard Install, I generated a 20GB partition and installed Windows XP SP2 reformatting during the install to NTFS. At this point things seemed to be working well. I then used my Leopard Install disk to update the MAC drivers. Now when I tried to reboot, I see the Windows splash window, the screen goes black, the screen goes cyan, then the screen goes black and stays that way. At this point, I cannot do anything with the Windows XP partition other than a power down by holding the power key. If I try to reboot on the XP partition, it goes through a hard drive repair, then goes black screen, light blue screen, black screen, hung. I can boot with Safe Boot, but I have no keyboard or trackpad drivers. I can run the system with an external USB mouse and keyboard.
    A friend found that the Video Adapters being used were a problem. (We can't find the reference.) If I go to Start/RightClick My Computer/Hardware/Device Manager/Video Adapters, I can right click on whatever adapters are located there and Uninstall them. At this point, the system will boot up fine using a generic video adapter. I don't know how well it would work if you wanted to use it for high speed gaming.
    On bootup I could get to the Internet. I went to Start/All Programs/Windows Update and did the Windows Update. I did it twice to get everything updated to Service Pak 3. (I have read that there is a problem if you upgrade the Apple Drivers to version 2.1 before you upgrade to Service Pak 3.)
    At this point, I installed the Boot Camp Update 2.1 and all worked well. I then installed Update 2.2 and the video was again a problem. It appears that the system was booting up ok, but it was happening behind a black screen. If I booted up in Safe Mode, connected a USB Mouse and Uninstalled the Video Adapter/Radeon 1600, I could boot up and the system worked fine.
    Unfortunately, Windows (for the first time that I know of) was smart enough to recognize that there was new hardware (the X1600) and it reinstalled the @!#$#-ed X1600 driver without asking me. Now I couldn't reboot without it hanging again.
    The final step was that I found that if, instead of Uninstalling, I Disabled the X1600, I can now run using the generic Video Adapter and Windows does not re-enable it.
    I hope this helps anyone who has a similar problem, so they don't waste 2 weeks like I did.

    Hi Dave,
    thanks for these informations.
    Before my beloved 2006 iMac went awry and finally bit the dust, I have used the ATI MobilityCatalyst Drivers for XP.
    If you're in for another try, here's the link http://support.amd.com/de/gpudownload/windows/Legacy/Pages/radeonmob_xp.aspx?typ e=2.4.2&product=2.4.2.3.10&lang=English
    Using the Generic Microsoft Graphics driver is IMHO not a solution, as it really only supports a minimum of the capabilities of the X1600 and is definitely not suited for gaming.

    1) The link is to two driver sets:  Bluetooth and graphics.  That's all.
    2) Installing the Bluetooth driver crashes the wireless mouse.  Bad.
    3) Apple does not have the remaining drivers available online.
    4) The ONLY way to install what is surely a reasonably generic network adapter driver is to get it from the "Everything Else" disk originally included with the machine.
    It would be nice if Apple Care staff were fully briefed on these issues.

  • Europe Power Adapter

    I'm taking a trip to Scotland from the US and will be bringing my laptop. I've purchased a plug in converter so I am able to plug my Mac in to the wall. Is there anything else that I need to worry about as far as power and potential damage to my computer?
    tmp

    I'm glad I read this before I left for Germany tomorrow. I thought I had everything covered. I guess not!!
    Okay, I'm bringing 2 15" MBPs and 12" PB. Yes, there's more than me going.
    I had bought a converter. But, in reading its directions and now this forum, I'm not going to use it for my precious Apple products.
    I did buy an adapter plug to plug in between the voltage converter and the German outlets. It's universal enough that an American plug just plugs into the back of it. Does this mean I can plug my power adapters into this little $4 generic plug adapter and then plug that into a German outlet?
    Does this mean I do NOT need to run to the Apple store in the morning to buy their universal power adapter box of plugs??
    Please! Help! I know it's last minute but I thought I'd taken care of everything.
    Thanks

  • When we should use JMS based proxy services and when JMS Adapter in OSB

    Hi,
    Can somebody explain me when we could go for JMS Adapter and when we should go for JMS based service in OSB?
    The one scenerio i can think of is when my provider/consumer is using jms provider other than WLS jms provider we should use jms adapter.
    Edited by: user12883209 on Jan 5, 2012 5:29 AM

    I don't think there are clear guidelines available, however here is my view.
    1) OSB 11gR1 is not certified with Oracle JMS Adapter. It is certified with Oracle FTP, Database, AQ and application adapters.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e15867/interop.htm#OSBAG1403
    2) In addition of the Weblogic JMS, OSB can also integrate with following provider without using adapter.
    - WebSphere MQ
    - Tibco EMS
    3) if you need to integrate JMS with BPEL Process or Oracle SOA suite composite, it has built in support for generic Oracle JMS adapter. Oracle generic JMS adapter can integrate with AQ JMS (JMS providers OJMS 8.1.7, 9.0.1.4, and 9.2), TIBCO JMS, IBM Websphere MQSeries (IBM MQSeries JMS 6.0), Weblogic JMS, Apache, and Active MQ
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/integration.1111/e10231/adptr_jms.htm
    4) If you need to integrate OSB with Weblogic JMS, WebSphere MQ, Tbco EMS it does not need JMS adapter.
    Hope this helps !!!

  • ERROR:ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

    I am using Win XP Pro. in my PC. I just installed Oracle 9i. When I put in my
    user-name and password to run SQL+ 9.0.1 it gives me the following error
    message : ERROR:ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error.
    I am new to Oracle. Please give me the steps how to fix this error to be
    able to run SQL+.
    Many thanks

    When starting server manager the following error is generated:
    ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error occurred
    Cause:
    Oracle classify this as a 'generic protocol adapter error'. In my experience it indicates that Oracle client does not know what instance to connect to or what TNS alias to use.
    Possible Remedies:
    * If running on the server (or workstation) that is running the database (i.e. if the database is local to the machine) then try explicitly setting 'ORACLE_SID'. e.g.
    set ORACLE_SID=<sid>
    and then try again. If this works then consider whether to make the change permanent by specifying it as a system variable.
    FOR RUN THIS SID PLEASE REFER IT
    Go to command prompt
    C:\Document and settings\ORANGE> cd\
    C:\> set oracle_sid=<DB name>
    e.g C:\> set oracle_sid=<rajesh> {press enter}
    C:\> sqlplus /nolog {press enter}
    sql:\>connect sys/sys as sysdba {press enter} it cant ask for password directly connected
    or
    sql:\>connect sys as sysdba {press enter}
    password : sys {press enter}
    sql:\> connected
    or
    sql:\> connect scott {press enter}
    Enter password :tiger {press enter}
    sql:\> connected
    or
    sql:\> connect system {press enter}
    Enter password :manager {press enter}
    sql:\> connected

    You can find the drivers for your T41 on this site. (Video Driver) You may also want to consider running System Update which should update all drivers for you automatically.
