Generic Airport trouble on all MBPros?
Hi there!
Recently, I got my new MBPro (Core Duo) with this integrated Airport chipset onboard. At home, I use a DLink614+ to connect all my machines (iBook, PBook15", PC WinXP, iMac G5) and everything worked without any hassles.
But now, as I wanted to connect my MBPro to my network, problems occured apparently without end...first, it wouldn't accept WPA, so I switched to WEP. Then, it wouldn't find the DLink network and loose it randomly or after sleep. The latest problem now is that it seems to connect/reconnect to my DLink every 15 secs (...yes, I've tried every fix and trick possible) !
Runnig through the forums here, I can tell that nearly everybody seems to have trouble with these portable Mactels when it comes to Airport connectivity.
Can anyone help me? Or maybe should we send a general complaint to Apple so that they will fix this problem ASAP?

Go to System Preferences
- Click Network
- Highlight AirPort and click Configure
- Choose "By default, join: Preferred networks"
- Select your access point and click edit
- Click on "show password"
At this point you should see a crazy corrupt password.. Proof that it is jacked up. Now:
- Exit that window back to the access point list
- Remove your access point with the "-" button
- Launch your keychain and delete your access point keychain entry.
- Reboot
- Go back to the "By default, join:" page and click the "+" this time to add your access point. Enter the correct password, save, reboot, should be ok now!
or try this as once someone suggested:
If you use "Preferred Networks," instead of "Automatic" for your "By default, join" setting, try the following:
- Delete all preferred networks with encryption
- Add them again after manually connecting
It will be faster if you turn on "Automatically add new networks to preferred networks list" under "Options" of the AirPort network connection.

I cannot add a Wi-Fi guest network. Gone to Utilities>Airport Utilities and all I get is an image/browser of my Airport Extreme. Looking for the browser window which has the title Wireless but cannot find anywhere. What am I doing wrong?
Open AirPort Utility. The first screen looks something like this:
Click on the AirPort Extreme and another screen will appear. Click Edit, then the window with the Wireless tab will appear.
If you do not see these screens, you will need to start over and configure your AirPort again. -
I want to use the Apple Time Capsule as an external drive and continue to use my Airport Extreme for all my wireless needs. Can I do that? The reason I ask is that my Time Machine utility cannot find the TIme Capsule - it only shows me the Airport Extreme, even when I "Rescan". SO I am unable to use the Time Capsule.
You will need to connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on the AirPort Extreme to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule.
Perform a "hard reset" on the Time Capsule by holding in the reset button for 9-10 seconds, then give it another minute to restart to a slow, blinking amber light.
Open AirPort Utility, select the Time Capsule, and click Manual Setup
Click the Time Capsule tab located below the row of icons to assign a name to the Time Capsule, a device password, and adjust Time Zone settings.
Next, click the Wireless tab located to the right of the Time Capsule tab
Change the setting for Wireless Mode to Off
Click the Internet icon, then click the Internet Connection tab
Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Click Update at the lower right to save the settings and allow 30 seconds for the Time Capsule to restart to a green light.
You are all set -

Time Capsule error 22 - My time capsule was working fine and didn't notice anything wrong with it until it stopped backing up about two weeks ago. I never changed anything like computer names or the Airport settings. All I get is the following:
The backup disk image "/Volumes/Data/Linda's Computer 1.sparsebundle" could not be created (error 22).
I tried resetting the Time Capsule and connecting with an ethernet cable, although the Ariport Utility says everything is working fine through WiFi.If the light will not turn on the TC is dead. No matter that the hard disk is running.. it should only run at start up or when it is accessed not constantly.. that means the board in the TC has failed. Apple do not repair them.. They will replace it under warranty or applecare.
If you have gone over the 12month warranty it will still be covered if you have applecare on any computer or an Apple TV. In fact the cost of the apple TV plus apple care is still cheaper than buying a new TC.. so it is a route some people are taking.. certainly depends.. in some places like Europe or Australia now, there is a recognition that statutory warranty must be longer on a product that is premium to the market. 12months is not good enough. Apple will sometimes listen.
They might be fixable but I do not know how. -
"airport" process uses all of the memory an cpu
After I reinstalled my MacBook and updated to the latest version of Tiger (10.4.8) my airport network behaves very strange. When I boot my MacBook or disconnect/connect my Airport network a process called "airport" is consuming all the CPU and memory. It uses one core exclusivly and gows to 1,2 GByte of RAM (even more virtual Memory). This slows down the macbook to almost still and heats up the CPU.
The only thing I can do is to kill the process. Then everything works fine. But this is annoying.
It seems to make no difference if I use a wireless LAN or not. When airport is enabled then this bug occurs. On this thread,
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=349
2852, people that have Check Point Software's
SecureClient are reporting the airport process using
~95% of CPU time.
I had SecureClient installed and I can confirm that
if you uninstall SecureClient, the airport process
works normally again. I don't know if this is the
only source of this problem, but if you happen to
have SecureClient, then you might want to uninstall
and confirm if this solves your problem.
Also I would be curious if anyone is having this
problem that has never had SecureClient, or any 3rd
party VPN software.
I can confirm that at least some of my problem with the "airport" process was related to VPN software. After uninstalling the Cisco VPN client, problems dramatically reduced. Interestingly, I still have the Checkpoint client installed, but only rarely see problems with "airport".

SoundBlaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 - Having Trouble Getting all of my 5.1 to work
MSoundBlaster X-Fi Surround 5. - Having Trouble Getting all of my 5. to work?Hi Everyone,
This has been an on and off problem for me since I've purchased my X-Fi: I can only get certain speakers to work at a single time. As you know, in 5. there are the three /8 inch heads: green, black and orange. All of the heads, when plugged into the green slot (I am using the cable that converts the green head into the red and white inputs, not the green headphones input) on the X-Fi work. I take this to mean that all of the speakers do in fact work and that the problem lies within the device/drivers. I have looked high and low through windows and the creative control panels and changed all of the speaker settings to 5.. Maybe I am overlooking something.
I am using Windows 7 32-bit. I have tried both versions of the driver that are available via Creative's website.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Dave@Re: SoundBlaster X-Fi Surround 5. & SPDIF - it's despairingA Ok - Problem fixed. Again I am using a XP 32bit, latest driver.
I have disabled all the features (cmss, 3d, etc) and used the provided creative player and powerdvd player. Both work FINALLY right. I can listen to .ac3 5. music track and the SPDIF as a pure passthrough is sending 5. output to my Bose receiver. Same for the DVD sound.
Note when I used the VLC player the SPDIF still did not work right ... but since it does with the creative player I am good with it.
Once you activate any of the feature then the sound if brought down to a 2.0 (stereo) sound.
In my driver I do not have an option to disable the analog output - I assume that is different then the Vista one.
One other question. I have tested the card with Shure SE530 headset and the output is TERRIBLE - does it work fine for you with headset? (I am planning to use it only as SPDIF so no biggy but I was surprised on the poor quality. Those headset are amplified and filtered so there could be some issue with that). -
I keep getting a popup saying there's an update for my Airport Extreme, but all of my Airport devices (I have the Extreme, which is one of the original cone-shaped ones, as my base station, two Time Capsules running in bridge mode connected by Ethernet, and an Airport Express [original model] connected via wireless) are running the most recent firmware for each device.
It's harmless but extremely annoying. Has anyone else had this problem? I've tried re-uploading the firmware to all four Airport devices, but it didn't help. Is there any way to turn off the automatic checking? It's obviously not working right in any case.I assume that you have already done the basic things like powering off the entire network and restarting.
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Select the AirPort Extreme, and click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab located below the row of icons
Click Options near the bottom of the next window
Remove the check mark next to "Check for firmware updates"
Click Done, then click Update and wait for the AirPort Extreme to restart. -
I have restored my Ipad 2 back to the original settings, but now I am having trouble downloading all of my apps and updating them. However, if I am connected to my laptop; I can copy the apps back onto my Ipad, but that doesn't solve the update problem. PLEASE HELP!!!
If you have enabled iCloud and PhotoStream, you may be able to find them there.

New iMac with Lion otherwise same cable configuration and the computer cannot find the printer. It searchs and spits out a generic error message. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Is your printer listed?

If not then you need to get the driver and install it.
Otherwise you may want to reset the printing system.

I have huge problems. I posted in the QuickTime forum because I had trouble uninstalling 7.5 and reinstalling 6.5.2 to be able to run ProTools on OS 10.3.9.
Since then, I archived and installed from my Panther discs. I now have 10.3.5 and am unable to open some of my programs. Could this be because I'm running 10.3.5 instead of 10.3.9? I could try to remedy this, but that leads to my other problem...
My iBook will not connect to my home wireless where I currently am. I'm online on my PC laptop right now. I can get online anywhere in the house on this thing, but only downstairs on my iBook. Where's the problem, you may ask. Well, my iBook WILL NOT RUN when the power cable is unplugged, even though it says the battery is full. Therefore, if I want to quickly use wireless to reinstall software, I have to unplug everything upstairs and plug it all in again downstairs.
Therefore my questions are...
Why does my iBook shut down and reset the date to 1970 when the power cable isn't connected?
Why does my wireless only work about 2 meters from the router?
Can I download a 10.3.9 update onto a PC and transfer it to a Mac?emeraldbluerose:

You do not tell us which iBook G4 you have (processor speed?), but to the best of my knowledge you don't have a PRAM battery. The issue most likely with the main battery. The normal life of these batteries is 3 to 5 years, so you are likely due for a new one. So, why does it read as being fully charged? I don't know. I do know that if the clock resets everytime you unplug the computer, your battery is not doing what it should. I would begin by Resetting the PMU.
In terms of wireless connectivity, I would rather get the power issue resolved before attempting that. However, I suspect that your Airport Extreme card needs replacing.

Popup with generic ALV to display all fields of a structure
Hello WebDynpro Experts,
I have developed a WebDynpro application using an ALV control to display all the search results in a table.
The number of columns shown in this table is reduced by a default view, that is preset for all users.
In the SAP GUI there is a standard feature to show all the details of a record in a pop up window.
E.g. in WE02 you see a few fields in the ALV table, and when you click on the details button, you get a popup with all the fields of the selected line.
Is there something similar in the ALV table for WebDynpro?
I want to show all the fields of the selected structure in a generic table with two columns: Field label and value.
Can anybody help?
Regards,
JürgenHello Jurgen,
When you select a particular row in ALV table, you can get the data in that row by using ONLEADSELECT
method from used component(SALV_WD_TABLE).
And i Guess you can get all the field names of that structure from DD03L table and you can display them
in a generic table.

Connecting and older AirPort Extreme to my MBPro Retina (MBPr)
I have a older AirPort Extreme ( the round white saucer type) maybe 2005? Was give to me by a friend. I am trying to hook up the AirPort E and the airport Utiltiy see it. But when I click on the base station I get this "This version of AirPort Utility doesn’t support this base station. Go to AirPort Service and Support for more information. Also in the AirPort Utility page it shows the world glob that has a green light and then down from that my AirPort Extreme and it has NO green light.
I have click onto the support link and downloaded the utility 5.6 but that can't be intalled. It tell me it's not supported by any of the drives or something like that?
My intenet, I use AT&T 2wire & the Ethernet cable connect to the AirPort E. I can print with USB connect to my MBPr but not via Wifi. I can print from my iPad using a Handyprint app.
What I like to do is print wifi without haveing to use the USB and I like to set up my AirPort E basestation. Can anyone help me? I don't really want to buy a newer basestation. I was never able to print via wifi on this MBPr and even before i used the handyprint app. However, I have print via wifi on a PC with the basestation hooked up just like I have hooked up with on my MBPr.
I hope you can understand my question, I am not very good at posting my question. New to the Mac world. I also look for support in the forms but could not get fine what I need.
Thanks ahead of time for any help!Just another reason to never use an Apple router. All other routers I have ever heard of use a Web Browser to do all configurations. I have a router I bought in the early 2000s that I can still use if I like, actually several of them.
Leave it to Apple to restrict access to older Airport base stations making people that think they need to buy a new Apple router to go with their Apple computer.
Just give that Airport base station back to your friend or stick it in a closet. You don't need an Apple router. Any router will work, or should work, with any Apple computer or other Apple device. -
In my project,i am allowing user to select database of his choice from given options & i need to write queries considering
all these optional databases. So as per my one of requirement,is there any way to achieve generic functionality similar to ROW_NUMBER() in MSSQL ?First run this and check the db version
SELECT @@VERSION
EXEC sp_dbcmptlevel 'db name'
If version is above 2012 and compatibility level is above 80 ROW_NUMBER will work.
Otherwise you need to use this
