Generic Data Sourse.. Doubts..

Hi All,
We are using Generic data source data is successfully extracted from view(application tables) and into BW Cube. But I want to see Datasource in RSA2 it shows a message
<b> Data Source ZMYDATA_SOURCE does not exist in version A</b>
1 .Why it is coming? How to solve it ? It is not a business content. It is generic
2. In Generic When we go for View/Table or Function module? Is there any Standard restriction is there?
3. How to handle Delta in generic case?
4. What is generic interface ( Blank , X) ?
5. What is Direct access (D, 1, 2)?
Please tell step by step.

Thanks for ur response.
1.In R/3 I went ROOSOURCE table and found no entry for datasource. I checked that we are not using any remote cube.
2. In RSO2 , When i enter Datasource: Message it shows:
" Datasource is not defined in Source system"
3. In RSA2 , When i enter Datasource: Message it shows:
Data Source ZMYDATA_SOURCE does not exist in version A
What is the reason exactly?
What should I do to resolve?

1.We can't maintain Hierarchies in ECC, Because the Database design of the OLTP system is based on ERM(Entity Relationship Model),i.e Tables are connected via Primary and Foriegn key relationships, Whenever we need 1: Many connection divide the data in different tables,connect them using the primary and foriegn key relationships.
2. Domain will provide the technical properties of the Field of the R/3 table.
for Eg: length,data type of the field.

Issue with Safety Upper limit for CALDAY Field for Generic Data Source

I have given Upper limit as 1 for Calday field of one of the Generic Data Sources.
I have got a doubt here.If today's load got failed and I will rerun the load next day.So Will that new run captures all 2 days records.

Hi,
A one-day upper safety interval determines that an extraction run today, only fetches records up to yesterday (if the pointer has the day before yesterday date, the extraction comprises from the day before yesterday to yesterday). This is meant to avoid missing records that were about to be persisted in the database when the delta extraction is running but whose date was determined in memory before the delta started.
If pointer has today date value and you want to load data from today and yesterday, you should use a lower safety interval. Take into account that this could reload data previously extracted. Therefore, only InfoProviders with overwritting features (DataStores or InfoObject master data) should be used as targets of this extractions.

Generic data source Inti Problem

Hi ALL,
I have a generic data source.I am able to load with update option as "Full" and getting
records.But when i do a Inti Load with data transfer,Load gets suceess but with zero records.

I have asked R/3 team to provide me the details.
They said the below points.
1.Data source is built using only one single table.
2.Delta check mark is set in RS02.
But i have one small doubt,
As of now we are checking the data source extraction in RSA3 , using the update mode " F" .It is extracting .
But
1. Can i check the Inti functionality in RSA3 using the Update mode "c"(Initiliastion of Delta transfer).?
2. Can i change the update mode in RSA3 in case of generic data source?

Hi Surya,
If a field (date, progressive document number, timestamp) exists in the extract structure of a DataSource that contains values which increase monotonously over time, you can define delta capability for this DataSource. If such a delta-relevant field exists in the extract structure, such as a timestamp, the system determines the data volume transferred in the delta method by comparing the maximum value transferred with the last load with the amount of data that has since entered the system. Only the data that has newly arrived is transferred.
To get the delta, generic delta management translates the update mode into a selection criterion. The selection of the request is enhanced with an interval for the delta-relevant field. The lower limit of the interval is known from the previous extraction. The upper limit is taken from the current value, such as the timestamp or the time of extraction. You can use security intervals to ensure that all data is taken into consideration in the extractions (The purpose of a security interval is to make the system take into consideration records that appear during the extraction process but which remain unextracted -since they have yet to be saved- during the next extraction; you have the option of adding a security interval to the upper limit/lower limit of the interval).
After the data request was transferred to the extractor, and the data was extracted, the extractor then informs generic delta management that the pointer can be set to the upper limit of the previously returned interval.

1) What are update types availbale in infopackage for tha generic t data source?
2) Is there any link between,the selection on the
i) type delta type select
ii) the field selected i.e like timestamp,cal month,numeric pointer.
3)do we have delaa option at info package level?

yes our's is bi 7.0.but there are two DTP with the same optoion of DELTA.It pull the data from ds to info cube.
one more thing,how are the delta records picked from the r/3 to bw?its through Infopackage Am i right?
If possible please tell me the entire flow of data goes for a generic data source.

how do we load deltas to bw.?

Hi,
2LIS_03_BX is the initialization of your stocks; you'll need to perform the setup procedure for extracting this data.
Usually this DSource is used to bring the stocks positions at a given time; from this given time you'll then extract deltas from BF and UM so your stocks are always:
BX + BF(Delta) + UM(delta).

I had created a Generic data source with function Module as the data source, in Rsa3 it is working fine.
1-> I had replicated the data source to Bi then i had created a info package and then I executed the same. when it is getting the data and it is show in the request monitor (Number of records ) but the status is not changing from Yellow to Green.
Status in Step by step analysis is every step is green Except "Data selection successfully finished ?" (RED)
2-> Then I had seen the Back ground job in Source system which is executing still. I waited for it for a long time but nearly 30 min.
(I had done Steps one and 2 number of time by activating replicating the data source and so on, but still their is no change in it)
3-> Then I had canceled that back ground job with the help of BASIS (as i feel that it is something going wrong).
4-> I feel that their is some thing wrong in the Code of Extractor.

Please check the log of same jobs for last week and check is today its taking more time,also check with basis is their any backup initited at same time.
Moreover until the background job failed automatically its difficult to imagine what is the exact issue.

The Problem is While saving the Data Source it is Giving an Error as Follows

Message no. R8359
Diagnosis
You tried to generate an extract structure with the template structure zgg_test. This operation failed, because the template structure quantity fields or currency fields, for example, field PHCOS refer to a different table.
Procedure
Use the template structure to create a view or DDIC structure that does not contain the inadmissible fields.

Error while creating Generic data source using FM

Hi Experts,
I try to create a generic data source using the Function Module via the transaction RSO2. I got the following error messages.
" Das Einheitenfeld CURR des Feldes ZPKZA1 der DataSource ZBWN_DS_POLPOSP ist ausgeblendet"
" Das Einheitenfeld CURR des Feldes ZPKZA2 der DataSource ZBWN_DS_POLPOSP ist ausgeblendet"
" Das Einheitenfeld CURR des Feldes ZPKZA10 der DataSource ZBWN_DS_POLPOSP ist ausgeblendet"
"The unit field CURR of the field ZPKZA1 of the DATA SOURCE ZBWN_DS_POLPOSP is not visible/ stopped/ hide".
for all 10 fields of type CURR.
How shall i handle this issue..........any suggestions please........

Hi,
Are your CURR fields refereded to a currency field of your structure?? Maybe the problem is that the field containing the currency is refered to other table/structure and it has to be one of your structure fields.

Error while doing DELTA Extraction (generic data source)

Hi BW Experts,
In my R/3, I have a generic data source ZBUT_VW.
It receives data from a View which is created based on couple tables.
When I do full load to the corresponding ODS, it is successful.
But after that I delete the ODS and created CUBE with DELTA
I have Initialized delta.
When I do DELTA extraction, it fails.
The error The ALE inbox of the SAP BW is identical to the ALE outbox of the source system
and/or
the maximum wait time for this request has not yet run out
and/or
the batch job in the source system has not yet ended.
I delete the initialization load and trying to do DELTA extraction again and it Fails.
With the same error
Please let me know how can I resolve this problem.

I dont think it is possible to have to additive delta with creation date.
Try a full load to cube to check if the extractor is working.

Error while activation Function module for generic data extraction

Hi,
I have created a generic data source ZMATERIAL in which i have selected the Extraction by Function module. I copied the function module RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA_SIMPL to ZMATERIAL_FM, but when i activate this module it gives me error
REPORT/PROGRAM statement missing, or program type is I (INCLUDE).
The main program of the function "Z_BWGENDATAMATERIAL" does not begin with "FUNCTION-POOL".
Please help me in this.

Error while testing Generic Data Source extraction

I've created generic data source for Texts and Attributes in R/3 based on VIEW (Z table)
I get error "Error 6 in function module RSS_PROGRAM_GENERATE" while trying to test the data sources through RSO2
I guess there can be a lot of reasons... Please name me anybody who knows them...

Syntax error in the generated extraction program Symptom
You notice the error by one of the following symptoms:
The loading of transaction data from an R/3 system terminates with a syntax error in the generated extraction program. The monitor displays the error messages:
R3027 "Error & during the generation of the data transfer program"
RSM340 "Error in the source system"
The extraction within the extractor checker terminates with error message RJ028 "Error 6 in function module RSS_PROGRAM_GENERATE".The activation of transfer rules ends in BW with error message RG102 "Syntax error in GP$ERR$, row... (-> long text)" from the source system. Usually, the diagnosis in the long text of the error message is: "...could not be interpreted. Possible error causes: Incorrect notation or... "

Reason and Prerequisites
The error only occurs in the source system, if this contains Basis Release 3.1I and Service API (SAPI) 3.0C Support Package 6. SAPI 3.0C Support Package 6 is contained, for example, in PI 2003.1 Support Package 7 (see attached composite SAP note 673002).
Solution
To correct the problem you need service API 3.0C Support Package 7 in the affected source system. The attached composite SAP note 704971 explains in which software components service API 3.0C is contained, and what the corresponding Support Packages of these components are.
Alternatively, you can also copy the advance correction from the appendix.

More than one field in generic data source

Hi All,
We wanted extract Allocation data for the sales order from R/3 to BW. I am not able to find proper data source for it... there are two datasources..we wanted afs specific datasource
2LIS_11_V_ITM : Sales-Shipping Allocation Item Data
2LIS_11_V_SCL : Sales-Shipping Allocation Schedule Line
But its not reflecting allocated quantity at all...
So we decided to create generic data source.. but there is one problem for some allocation ARUN is initial.. so i cann't use ARUN as delta field... can i use comination of Sales order no,Item and Schedule line number as delta field....
Because in RSO2 i can define only one field as delta specific field....
How to proceed ???

If you decided to use generic data source, make sure that, U'll have to take only
one filed as a delta, I suggest, you take any date field rather than the value fields
it may be created date/change date and so on so forth..

Generic Data Source issue in CRM.

Generic Data Source with Table gave an issue "invalid Extracture structure template XXXXX of Data source XXXXX"
Generic Data source with Function Module gave an issue "Units field VOLUM_U for field VOLUME of DataSource ZTEST_XYZ is hidden"
Generic Data Source with View configured successfully but the data is not coming in Extractor Checker.
Three tables has taken in to consideration. I think there might be some issue with Join condition.
Can any one through light on this incident. Your help will be appreciated.
