Generic Icons in One New Folder?

Hi all, I'm having trouble with getting image views to appear rather than generic icons for one recent batch of uploads in Bridge. These are both the Raw files and JPEGs. I'm using a camera and equipment that have not been changed from my recent past use, and still compatible with Bridge updates; I checked for and updated a recent Raw, have verified that it's still compatibile with my system (currently, version 6.7 on my Bridge CS6 on Mac), cleared Bridge's cache a few times. The image views, however, still aren't appearing.
Has anyone had a similar experience and found a solution? (If there's a discussion thread that relates to this and anyone can point me to it, that would be helpful as well -- I might have missed this when searching earlier).
Thanks in advance for any help!

(currently, version 6.7 on my Bridge CS6 on Mac),
Latest available on CS6 is ACR 8.2 btw
However use Finder to see if the previews so here at all and check what happens if you open the files in PS, do they show correct?
Also in Finder create a new folder outside the existing folder and copy the files to this new folder and see if this helps, sometimes folder do get corrupt.
Otherwise provide more details about system and CS versions and what file type you are viewing etc.

why not? use LiteIcon then. it's free and is MUCH safer than mucking with system files by hand. if you insist you can do it as follows. go to /system/library/coreservices. control-click on coretypes.bundle and select "show package contents". go to contents-> resources. change the file GenericFolderIcon.icns with your own .icns file. back up the original bundle first.

  • HT2493 What does it mean for the icon of a new folder to have a red X next to it?

I just created a new folder, and added files into it. It seems to be fine, so I can't see any reason for there to be a red x on the left edge of the icon. Thanks for any help.

  • I uploaded 3 documents then converted to pdf then combined them into one new folder.  How do I down

I uploaded 3 documents, then coonverted to pdf, then put in new folder.  how do I download the folder to my desktop?

Create a new folder and name it.
Drag the documents into the new folder.
Or, select them all and ctrl- (right-) click on them and select New folder with Selection (x items).
The files will be moved to a new folder, the folder will be selected and set in rename mode. Start typing the name.
If you click somewhere before renaming, the folder is named New folder with items as the default.

  • ITunes update removes quicklaunch icons and creates new folder each time

Everytime I install an iTunes update, it removes my quicklaunch icon and creates a new start menu folder.  I keep the iTunes start menu folder in a 'Media' subfolder (to keep things organized), but each time I update iTunes on each of my computers it creates a new iTunes folder in the main start menu. Any way to make it stop doing this? Since I work on multiple machines, it can be really irritating to have to redo icons and move folders each time.
Working on PCs (Dell work laptops) running Windows 7.
    Thanks!

Unfortunately it won't go into disk mode. Even tried the "put your ipod on a flat surface" trick. I'm wondering if the battery hasn't stopped holding a charge. But it seems the symptoms would be more like a constant battery icon. Instead I'm getting the sad face everytime I try to put it in disk mode or reset. Ideas? Throw ipod against wall? Blow on it like old-school Nintendo cartridges?
Oh, and yes, it is Windows formatted.
Any and all help would be appreciated.

  • Can I change/add new folder icons?

What I'd like info on is the icons for folders like pictures, music and stuff like that. I forgot the name for this in Ubuntu but it looks like the same thing is here. I'd like to add some of my own to if that is possible.

you can apply a custom icon to any file or folder by hand provided you have write permissions to them. to apply an icon of one file/folder to another do the following.
select the folder whose icon you want to use and enter command+i. in the resulting popup select the little icon in the upper left corner and enter command+c. then select the second folder and enter command+i. in the resulting popup select the icon in the left upper corner and enter command+v
if you have an image you want to use as an icon, open that image in Preview and enter command+c
then then select the second folder and enter command+i. in the resulting popup select the icon in the left upper corner and enter command+v again.
you can also change the default system icons used for Pictures, Music etc. the best way to do it is by using 3rd party apps like Candybar http://www.panic.com/candybar/ or Liteicon http://freemacsoft.net/LiteIcon/.

  • When I create a New Folder (on the desktop or in Finder), the system uses the Generic Document Icon instead of the Generic Folder Icon. How can I change this back?

When I create a New Folder (on the desktop or in Finder), the system uses the Generic Document Icon instead of the Generic Folder Icon. How can I change this back?
All of a sudden I noticed that most of the folders on my computer were no longer using the folder icon, but the generic document icon. I had to manually change back the icon being used by opening Get Info for each folder and copying and pasting the generic folder icon from some folders that remained unchanged. Now whenever I create a New Folder (right click -> "New Folder"), the icon that shows up is the generic document icon (white page with top right corner turned down). And I have to manually change it so it shows up as a folder in Finder or on my desktop. I don't know why or how this switch happened. All of the folders now on my computer look ok, but I need to change the default so when I create a New Folder it uses the correct icon.
I have also Forced Relaunch of my Finder and rebooted the system. I downloaded Candybar but am not sure what will fix anything, so I haven't proceeded.
Anyone know how I can do this? Thanks.

    Anyone?

  • New to bb. Can I move icons into one folder?

Hi, to the forum. I'm new to BB and I will appreciate some help.
1.- I have a few games, but I will like to have all of them on one folder. e.g. chess, blackjack, etc, under games. Is there a way to do this. I created a new folder (Games) but I do not know how to move the icons into it. I tried to drag them, but does not work.
2.- In the near future I will travel to southamerica and I do not know if I can use my BB with a local sim card. I  owned an unlocked Palm Treo that let me buy a local sim card and used it to communicate in the country I was visiting. Will I be able to do the same with my BB??
    Any ideas or answer.

I can help you with your first question.
you can go to your main screen and press the Menu button > The ADD FOLDER >  name it what you want to name it. Then you can click and move  the icons into the folder.

  • Preview Icons vanishing when dragged into new folder.

When dragging an image file (with a preview icon showing the small representation of that image) is dragged from it's original folder to a new one, the preview disappears and is replaced with a generic "EPS" or "Jpeg" grey icon. Futher, if I get information about the file, the preview picture of the image also shows just a generic file type icon, even though I can see clearly the preview icon. This is so frustrating, as I must then batch process images in photoshop to have a new preview image show up.
To make things even more annoying, the process is inconsistent. If I drag the a eps file from the original folder with the image preview into a new folder, the preview may be missing. If I drag and drag, creating multiple copies of the file in a new folder "hnuewf.eps 1, .2, .3 etc...) almost always one of these attempts will copy correctly, with the preview intact. What the heck is going on!

    Partilly solved by rebuilding permissions....

  • Moving 20 or more Files in Icon Form to a New Folder

Hey everyone, I've finally gotten around to hitting the forums to inquire about this.
I like to organize many of my folder, file, and desktop files in Icon view and put them together according to their grouping. Once my desktop would get too cluttered I would go through and clean it up by placing it into sub-folders.
This use to be dandy until the time of one of the OS upgrades, I think from Snow Leopard, but it could have been Leopard. Now, whenever I move 21 or more files into a new folder, the first 20 are fine, but everything after the 20th start to be placed into a grid type of mode. [The pictures below will kind of help demonstrate, I've talked to AppleCare where they repeated the conundrum, and suggested these forums]
Anyways, is there some cap or limit I could change either via Terminal or something? Its really annoying having to move and make icons in 20 file increments, so any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

First, I have a question: your profile says you're on Tiger (10.4.x), but you mention Leopard and Snow Leopard - what is the current OS version you are using?
And, before I try to understand and help, I wonder why you appear to be using the desktop as your filing cabinet so to speak? Or do you file your folders elsewhere after the content has been organized? Having that many files on your desktop will slow down your startup - Finder has to open each and every one of those. I created a folder within the Documents folder which has thousands of files and many sub folders in it - it is not on the desktop though; I dragged its' alias to the dock for one click access.
Now, to your issue - did you make sure that you have your view preferences set correctly for all the folders? Even if that is so, I can see that dragging 20 or more folders containing more than 30 GB all at once could result in some glitches. I never use icon view myself (preferring column view) because it would sometimes just not wind up in the order I wanted. So, unless someone can come up with a more definitive idea, I'd say you need to drag fewer folders or try list or column view to see if it works better.

  • Why not instruct MacOS 10.10 users in creating a new folder to use the wheel icon pull-down menu ...

Your instructions on creating folders aren't correct. for my Mac, saying nothing about having to
    Open the Bookmarks pull-down menu
    Select 'Unsorted Bookmarks'
Go to the top 'Wheel' icon
THEN you can create a new folder, and other good things
Bit of a pain. Otherwise, Firefox is great!

    * Bookmarks created via a click on the star in the location bar are stored by default in the Unsorted Bookmarks folder.
Another click on the blue highlighted star allows to edit the properties and move the bookmark to another folder.
    * Bookmarks created via "Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page" (Ctrl + D) are stored at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder.
In the left pane in the Library (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) there are three folders in the "All Bookmarks" folder:
    * "Bookmarks Toolbar"
    * "Bookmarks Menu"
    * "Unsorted Bookmarks"
You can add new bookmarks to one of those three Bookmarks folders, but you can not create a new folder or add bookmarks at the root level ("All Bookmarks") or remove one of the three root folders.
In the Bookmarks Manager you can also create a new folder via the Organize menu.
In the Bookmarks sidebar (Ctrl+B; Cmd+B on Mac) you can do that via the right-click context menu.
There are three main Bookmarks folders and bookmarks can only be created in one of those folders and its sub folders.
    * The "Bookmarks Toolbar" folder stores the bookmarks that you see on the Bookmarks Toolbar (Firefox > Options or View > Toolbars).
    * The "Bookmarks Menu" folder stores bookmarks that show in the Bookmarks menu and are created via "Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page" or via "Bookmark This Link" in the right-click context menu.
    * The "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder stores bookmarks that are created by clicking the star at the right end of the location bar.

  • New folder icon?

After you create a new folder, is there any way of changing a folder icon to a different one like you can on a PC? I tried CTRL + Click options but there is nothing obvious there.
    Thanks

Suggest that you check out the following:
    CandyBar
    The Iconfactory
    Pixel Girl
"how do I remove the white background? "
The white background does not show if you want to change your folder. However, if it does happen I've used AppleWorks and/or ImageWell to remove backgrounds.

  • Move up one level in path and make new folder

How do I get applescript to make a new folder one level up from myFolder i.e.
    set myFolder to ¬
(choose folder with prompt "Where are the image files for which you want to change exif data ?") as reference
    make new folder at myFolder with properties {name:"Gallery JPEGs"}
makes a new folder inside myFolder, but how do I tell it to move up one level from myFolder and make a new folder?
    Thanks.
    Pedro

You can use statements such as the following ones:
*tell application "Finder" to make new folder at container of myFolder with properties {name:"Gallery JPEGs"}*
    or
*tell application "Finder" to make new folder at container of container of myFolder with properties {name:"Gallery JPEGs"}*
    and so on…
And if you want the folder “myFolder” to be contained by the folder “Gallery JPEGs”, use the following statements:
    *tell application "Finder"*
*make new folder at container of myFolder with properties {name:"Gallery JPEGs"}*
    *move myFolder to the result*
    *end tell*
