Generic IR remote iPhone app?
I just switched to a 27" iMac, and discovered that my old mac's IR remote is useless with it. Got the Apple Remote app from the app store, which works fine with iTunes, but I need a more general purpose app that will let me use my iPhone as a remote while using iDVD, etc. Any recommendations from those who have gone there before me?

Remote mouse seems to be what I was looking for: turns your iPhone into a mouse pointer. For a little extra, you get a media player control that duplicates the old IR remote. Sweet!

Remote iPhone App Slow to "Find" Apple TV
In the past few days, the Remote iPhone and iPad app have been slow to "find" our Apple TV (3rd Generation). It can take up to 3 minutes to connect to the Apple TV and sometimes only "finds" it after I unplug/plug in the Apple TV.
I have restarted our wireless router, tested the network connection on Apple TV, double checked that Home Sharing is turned on (though, admittedly, sometimes it is not able to find my Library), turned Apple TV on/off multiple times as sometimes it is the only way I can get the remote app to find the Apple TV.
The Apple TV remote seems totally dead. I never got a low battery message, but while the iPhone and iPad are listed as "paired remotes" in the Settings, the regular Apple TV remote is not listed at all. I tried to pair it (holding menu+right) but nothing happens. The Apple TV doesn't flash or anything when I try to use the aluminum remote.
Thanks for any other ideas to troubleshoot.SOLVED for me by restarting my iPhone 5. Power off completely and powering back on.

Display wakes when Remote iPhone app connects to iTunes
Ever since I installed Lion, I've noticed that now whenever I use the Remote app on my iPhone to connect to my iTunes library, it wakes my iMac's display. When I had Snow Leopard installed, the display would remain asleep, no matter what actions I took with the Remote app. Now, just having the app connect to my iTunes library wakes my iMac's display from sleep--kind of annoying when you want to listen to music to go to sleep.
Since this is occuring with the same iMac, iPhone and same version of Remote, I have to assume it's Lion specific.
Anyone else having these issues?Yep. I am having the same exact issue. Except it started for me with iTunes 10.4 before I ever upgraded to Lion. I was kind of hoping that Lion would fix it. I too listen to music going to sleep and would really like the Remote app NOT to wake up my display, illuminating my entire room.

i lost my iphone4 yesterday..i have find my iphone apps in there and its updated to IOS 5. i wonder if they would be able to still access my accounts in there after i remote locked it.? its offline whenever i checked till now.. im wonderin if ist safe coz all my emails are there and all personal info..i hope someone could answer me..i reported to the police the ist step..coz when it happened ..policemen are there..then i went to the nearest MAC center and tried to track it..but its offline..so they asked me if i want to remote lock it..then i did...which i think the mcreason why i cant track my phone beacause its locked?? or not until they connect to wifi or 3g but its unabling them because i locked it..?
but when i do remote wipe ..it will erase everything in there and i cant track down the phone anyomore?

I have remote locked my mac using find my iPhone app via my iPad - I am unable to enter the unlock code as the mac keyboard won't pair with the mac - I guess that will teach me for playing...any ideas?
Thought so - ace - find my phone really needs an unlock function. - another £40...

I just lost my iphone5 in a foreign country. Was not able to previously register it with icloud and have not installed the findmy iphone app. How can i wipe out my data remotely without these setups? Is there any good app i can use to track it? Please help!

Sorry, not sure what you mean by remotely?
You can remove apps from your phone without being connected to anything if you have the phone in hand. Were you speaking about something else?
If not, then you just press on an app on the Home screen and hold it down until they all begin to wiggle. Apps that you can remove (non-Apple apps) have a little "x" in the top left-hand corner. Tap on that, and the app will be removed.

Use 2nd gen apple tv and remote control app on iphones and ipad. We can control some functions on the apple tv but unable to purchase, access such controls as reset, restart, turn off home sharing, etc. Home sharing stuck on old apple ID. Please help.
That is why I said to restore via iTunes, did you check the link?
This will put it back to factory settings and you can set it up with the new ID once you reconnect with your HDTV. This is not done via ethernet, as per the link you need to connect to the computer via micro usb. You cannot bypass home sharing.
FYI: An Apple ID cannot be deleted so the old one would still exist (even if you no longer use the email account it is associated with). -

Iphone apps using flex remote objects with CF???
I am used to making web applications that use flex remote objects to interact with CF.
Is it possible to use remoting from an iphone app cross compiled using flash builder to interact with Cf remoting on a remote server?Interseting, config files always seem to me like a strange way to do things.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this, but by default, that's how remoting works in Flex - you have channels and destinations defined on your server, and your compiler points to your config files and reads those values. So it's a little extra work to define them in AS instead.
Can you give me any tips on authenticating requests to cfc's from mobiles and how to protect my servers once I exposes cfc's to apps not hosted on the same server as CF?
There isn't really anything mobile-specific you need to do here. Exposing CFCs isn't any different than exposing CFM files that are accessed via a browser. You can use the standard CF session management and CF authentication (cflogin) - there are some examples available by Googling "coldfusion cflogin flex remoting".

I downloaded the Verizon Remote Control iPhone App - but it doesn't accept my username/password. The same app has a Support section and that section does accept my username/password.

Recently updated the the apple tv remote app for my iPhone4. Now can no longer turn on the apple tv "box" on/off using iPhone app as I used to do before the update. Only thing that shows on iPhone screen is music library. Home Sharing is on. Any help appreciated. Sorry if this is not exactly the right place to post this!
One clue: I have found a reliable way to solve the problem when it happens.
In my network, I have the main Airport Extreme (Gen 1) which is connected to my router, which distributes IP addresses to my internal subnet. The other two AEs (one Gen 4, one Gen 5) are set to extend the network.
When I get this problem with an AppleTV 2 that can "see" my library, but when I try to open it, it says it couldn't find the library, it seems to have to do with a change in which Airport Extreme it's talking to.
If I restart the main Airport Extreme from the Airport Utility, effectively restarting the entire wireless network, then when the network resumes, every AppleTV 2 is happy again.
Unfortuntely, the problem does seem to recur - but I'm wondering if it's because temporary interference leads an AppleTV 2 to try to connect to a different AE, and somehow that's mucking with the Home Sharing. Remember, internet access (Trailers, Store, Netflix) have no issues. Purely Home Sharing.
