Generics
It has been given in Java Complete Reference update1.5
following lines in respect to Bounded Wildcards in chapter of Generics:-
You can also specify a lower bound for a wildcard by adding a super clause to a wildcard declaration.Here is its general form:
<? super subclass>
In this case,only classes that are superclasses of subclass
are acceptable arguments.This is an exclusive clause,because it will not match the class specified by subclass
But when used super clause with wildcard characters it also allows the object of subclass.please can anybody explain this or is it written wrong in book
help required urgently
Thx in advance
thank you
so is it right that <? super sublclass> also allows objects of subclassbut i want to make a note of one thing that when this thing is used with a generic method it works properly i.e. you cannot pass an object of subclass
so y there is different behaviour in generic class and generic methods?????
Thx in advance

Problem with persistence in Generic Sync application
Hi:
We are developing an application which runson SAP Mi 2.5, SP 18,
Windows Mobile 5.0 and Generic Sync for PDAs.
We need persistence in our application. We tried with persistence API but
we found a problem and we send a message to SAP. Until we can solve
this issue we must implement persistence in other way to satisfy our customer requierements
Since now,we have implemented persistence with files but the performance of this solution does not meet our customer requirements (the search of data in the PDA is very slow).
We are thinking in another solution, which consists on using
Syncbos.Using this alternative, before making a generic sync, and
executing the code shown below:
SmartSyncRuntime.getInstance().getSyncBoDescriptorFacade
().getAllSyncBoDescriptors()
the returned syncBOS are those which I have defined in XML. On the
contrary, after making a generic sync, executing the same code, the
returned syncbos ARE NOT those whic I have defined in XML. The only
return that I get is the MIAUTH.
Any other ideas?
Thanks
Kind Regardshi satur,
there are some things to take care if you want to use the persistence layer of the
SmartSync layer from your GenericSync app.
first, you have to let the MI client think that your application is using the
SmartSync functionality. this can be achieved by just including a dummy metadata
meRepMeta.xml file in the war archive during the deployment process. once the
MI client framework sees this during the installation, it will set a flag on the MSD
that your app is a smartsync.
second, if your app is considered a smartsync, MI will generate the delta request
and upload messages for your data if ever you have your SyncBo defined in the
metadata. Since you don't want such functionalities to be ON, i would suggest to
mark all your SyncBo as local ones; i.e. using attributes suppressDownload=true
and suppressUpload=true. this way, the MI framework will skip creating the requests
and delta upload messages for your app during the synchronization process.
third, your application has to have the syncEventListener implementation to get
notification when the Sync button (or event) was initiated. if you don't want your
app to be notified, you may just add synchronization button within your application
that will call your data manager to prepare your containers (i.e. retrieving the newly
inserted syncbo, modified syncbos and the list of deleted ones -> genericSync
containers) and to call the synchronizeWithBackend method.
fourth, you need to have the inboundProcessor that will parse your data and insert
them a SyncBo into your local database.
having tried this but i guess it might work...

Hi SDN,
Im trying to create Generic Data source of View Method. I wanted to create View on BSID ( Closed Customer Invoices) and BSAD ( Open Customer invoices) Tables, But while creating its giving error as "THERE IS NO RELATION BETWEEN THE TABLES" I want to know how to create Relation Between the tables. Both BSID & BSAD are standard tables, so we cant make any changes.
Please let me know the procedure to bulid Rlation between the tables.
Regards
SujanHi Siva,
You have to give relation between these two tables in tab "Table/Join Conditions".

How to rename C00n generic column names in a Dynamic SQL report
I have a an interface whereby the user can select 1 to 60 (upper limit) columns out of 90 possible columns (using a shuttle) from one table before running a report.
To construct the SQL that will eventually execute, I'm using a "PLSQL function body returning SQL query" with dynamic SQL. The only problem is that I have to use "Generic Column Names" option to be able to compile the code and end up with c001 to c060 as the column names.
How can I use the names of the selected columns as the report headings rather than c001, C002... etc?
I do not know beforehand which columns, or how many columns or the order of the selected columns.
I know Denes K has a demo called Pick Columns but I can't access his code. I have a hunch though that he may be just using conditions to hide/show the apropriate columns.
thanks in advance
PaulPHi Paul
I would change the Heading Type in the Report Details screen to PLSQL and use the shuttle item to return the column values. e.g.
RETURN :p1_shuttle;
I'm assuming the shuttle already has a colon separated list of the column headings in the correct order?
I hope that helps

Error while creating a task for creating an generic task /app/dac/CustomSQ
Hi ,
I have created a sql file in DAC server /app/dac/CustomSQLs/ ,just to fire an update sql in database
In DAC task tab i have created a task with the following:
Command for incremental load :/app/dac/CustomSQLs/DBNameBeforeLoad.sql
Primary source :flatfileconnection
target source:DBCONNECTION_OLAP
Execution type:SQL FILE
Task phase:GENERAL
I created subject area and assembled ,then created a Execution plan.
When i try to execute this EP ,it shows the following error in DAC log:

Does my above configuration is correct ..?verify the following settings:
1. mapping of ECC plant and storage location and logical system number with the appropriate availability group code since this links the stock types in EWM to ECC org elements (SPRO -> EWM -> Interfaces -> ERP Integration -> Goods movement)
2. ensure the availability group configuration is correct (SPRO -> EWM -> GR Process -> Configure availability group for putaway) - check all applicable nodes in this configuration since the availability group code is assigned in the pertinent storage types -
A generic error occurred in GDI+ while assing tiff image file to Bitmap and Image
Hi,
I am getting "A generic error occurred in GDI+" error while reading the tiff image file to Bitmap or Image.
Below is my sample code.
string filePath=@"c:\Images\sample.tif";
Bitmap bmp=new Bitmap(filePath); // here getting exception
int totalpages=bmp.GetFrameCount(.....);
etc......
I tried using Bitmap.FromFile() and also from FromStream() even for Image also but there is no use.
Moreover i m having full permissions for the file path and the tiff file is having multiple pages.
Can anyone help me to solve this issue please.
Thanks & Regards,
Kishore
KishoreMake sure that the Tif file is valid (can other software open it)? If you are able to save a Tif using GDI+, try saving that Tif, then opening it. Part of me wonders if there is something about that specific Tif that GDI+ doesn't like.
You could also try using WIC to open the TIF, perhaps you would have better luck there. -
Generically calling a method on an object
Hello,
I am trying to write a small utility method to generically call a method on an object.
This is what I have.
public static void doCall(Object o, String methodName, Object ... args){
Class[] types = new Class[args.length];
int i = 0;
for(Object arg : args){
types[i] = arg.getClass();
try {
Method m = o.getClass().getMethod(methodName, types);
m.invoke(o, args);
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
throw new RuntimeException("Error dynamically calling method " + methodName + " on " + o.toString());
}It doesn't work because it can't find the method. If I hard code the parameter types as "new Object[] {Double.TYPE}" it works fine (on methods that take a double).
So, my question is, how can I generically set up the parameter types based on the types of the arguments?
Thanks,
~EricThe problem is not on calling agr.getClass(), your primitive double is already autoboxed to a Double object. It is the doCall(...) method who expects an object, not a primitive. So when giving it a primitive value, java autoboxes it to the corresponding object type.
This means your attempt will only work if the methods to call do not have any primitives as parameters.
Test this code:
public class GenericMethodCaller {
public static void doCall(Object o, String methodName, Object ... args){
Class[] types = new Class[args.length];
int i = 0;
for(Object arg : args){
types[i++] = arg.getClass();
try {
Method m = o.getClass().getMethod(methodName, types);
m.invoke(o, args);
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
throw new RuntimeException("Error dynamically calling method " + methodName + " on " + o.toString());
public static void main(String[] args) {
Callable callee = new Callable();
callee.callabelMethod(10d);
GenericMethodCaller.doCall( callee, "callabelMethod", 10d ); // 10d gets autoboxed to a Double object.
class Callable {
public void callabelMethod(Double o) {
System.out.println("callabelMethod(Double o) called");
public void callabelMethod(double o) {
System.out.println("callabelMethod(double o) called");
}The output will be:
callabelMethod(double o) called
callabelMethod(Double o) called

I installed the DBAT 9.1.0.5.0 connector after copying the mysql-connector-java-5.1.21-bin.jar file in the ext folder of the java installation that i use on the OIM machine. Now when i provision this generic connector resource through the resources tab, it stays in the provisioning stage. When i look at resource history, i see that the create user and child tables inserts are shown as rejected. Also the error when i open the rejected cause is:

ThanksGot the errors.
1) DB_STATUS.. error was coming since the lookup I gave there was not actually created in the database due to a refresh I did while creating it effectively deleting all the entered data.

Error while transporting Generic Datasource in R/3
Hi All,
I have created a generic datasource(R/3) on a view. As it was in $TMP, I have assigned the datasource, ZABCD, and the view, ZVIEW to a devlopment package and also to a transport request. I released the Transport request and when I tried to import it into Q, it throwed me an error with below messages:
Extract structure ZOX**** is not active
The extract structure ZOX**** of the DataSource ZABCD is invalid
Errors occurred during post-handling RSA2_DSOURCE_AFTER_IMPORT for OSOA L
The errors affect the following components:
BC-BW (SAP Business Information Warehouse Extractors)
The extract structure ZOX**** is the structure used by the datsource. I forgot to assign that to the earlier TR and I think the error is because the structure is missing in the TR. Am I correct?
How should I deal with it now? DO I need to create a new TR with this structure alone as the earlier TR is already released?
Thanks,
RPK.As you comment it is possible error was not include the structure in earlier TR.
You can create, in se09 or se10, an empty TR. In these transactions you have a buttoun with a box drawed. Set focus on your new empty TR and push button.
Add object from TR transported with error and the missed structure. -
Error while releasing transport request - Special character "_" in generic
Hi all,
we're receiving the error Special character "_" in generic key when releasing a best practice transport.
Note 1304725 describes my error, but the solution cannot be implemented. The reason for this is that we do not have an individual entry for eacht yb_PS,..,
but we have only one entry where field BWERT has a wildcard '*' as entry.
Does anyone has some idea how to solve this ?
kind regards !Hello Bjorn,
How did you get this solved?
I'm having nearly the same issue:
A custom-table with a total key lenght of about 365 characters. As soon as I enter a special character (_) in the key field just before the position 120, the message tk287 rejects the entry. Entering the special character in a key field at about key position
60, there's no message rejecting the entry.

This phone worked great for 2 years until I inherited it from my partner. Since we changed the phone over to me, it has done this 4 times. The last 3 times it somehow magically came back after taking the Sim card out and putting it back in. I even went and got another new Sim card, in case that was the problem. Apparently it is not, because now I cannot get it to come back at all. I get either the generic gray "no service" screen, or it just cycles the apple logo. I've tried holding the buttons down together, separately, everything. Nothing seems to work. Since the phone is no longer under warranty, am i basically screwed?
Could you specify the model of MacBook and the OS X it's running, please? Some of the advice or references vary along with the system, so this could be helpful to formulate a reply. I've never used a Guest User selection, but do have more than one User.
If the computer does not have an optical drive, you may be able to boot it into a recovery disk mode or something; in an attempt to see what is wrong and maybe fix it.
Good luck & happy computing! -
Error in creation of Generic Data source
Hi,
I am trying to create generic datasource from view i am getting the following error Invalid extract structure template Z_VIEW of DataSource Z_DATSRC guide me in this regard
Regards
Prakash B.Dear Prakash,
What are the tables you are using for a View , if you are using Quantities and Amount fields, make sure you include Reference fields for it , the error that you get is because of that . first create your view ,check it and activate, then go to RSo2 , create the Datasource, by giving the view .Try to give your problem more eloboratively with all technical details..so that you can get immediate solution.
Thanks,

How to Install 64-bit "Generic / Text Only" print driver on a 32-bit Windows 2003 Server?
Hi All,
In a nutshell, I need to Install the 64-bit Generic / Text Only print driver on a 32-bit Windows 2003 Server’s “Generic / Text Only 32-bit print queue.
The problem is that there is no Driver-Disk to get the drivers. I’ve been able to isolate 14 files related to the 64 bit drivers from a Windows 7 x64 computer and copy them to a temp folder on the Windows 2003 x32 server. When I try to add the 64 bit driver
to the Windows 2003 x32 server, it wants a *.inf file, which I don’t have and can’t find.
Because Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP, my client is replacing all of their Point-of-Sale Windows XP x32 systems with Windows 7 x64. They use Terminal Services (Remote Desktop) to connect to a Windows 2003 x32 server to use the POS system. The
POS software redirects LPT1 back to the local Generic / Text Only printer. This works great for XP x32.
When we use the Terminal Services POS software on the new Windows 7 x64 system, none of the labels print out because it’s redirected in 32-bit back to the local Windows 7 x64 Generic / Text Only 64-bit printer.
This will be a huge issue for me if I can’t get this to work.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and help! -Robthose may be helpful...

Show originally filename in attachment list (generic object services)
Hello everybody,
does anybody know, if it is possible to show the originally filename of a document in the attachment list of generic object services?
If I add more than one document for the same document type in generic object services, I'm not able to distinguish the documents.
When I want to save an attachment to local PC, SAP offers me the originally filename as default. Therefore, the filename has to be saved somewhere...
Thanks for any help or ideas in advance,
PeterRichard,
Your using the wrong object, I don't have access to an SAP system right now, so I can't tell you what the correct object is, but when it's configured correctly in OAC3 it will not be grey out. Best thing to do it see what the object the program is publishing. This is what GOS is looking for. IFARCH21 is not the answer, unless your using workflow -
Reporting Services as a generic service in a failover cluster group?
There is some confusion on whether or not Microsoft will support a Reporting Services deployment on a failover cluster using scale-out, and adding the Reporting Services service as a generic service in a cluster group to achieve active-passive high
availability.
A deployment like this is described by Lukasz Pawlowski (Program Manager on the Reporting Services team) in this blog article
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/lukaszp/archive/2009/10/28/high-availability-frequently-asked-questions-about-failover-clustering-and-reporting-services.aspx. There it is stated that it can be done, and what needs to be considered when doing such a deployment.
This article (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb630402.aspx) on the other hand states: "Failover clustering is supported only for the report server database; you
cannot run the Report Server service as part of a failover cluster."
This is somewhat confusing to me. Can I expect to receive support from Microsoft for a setup like this?
Best Regards,
Peter WretmoHi Peter,
Thanks for your posting.
As Lukasz said in the
blog, failover clustering with SSRS is possible. However, during the failover there is some time during which users will receive errors when accessing SSRS since the network names will resolve to a computer where the SSRS service is in the process of starting.
Besides, there are several considerations and manual steps involved on your part before configuring the failover clustering with SSRS service:
Impact on other applications that share the SQL Server. One common idea is to put SSRS in the same cluster group as SQL Server. If SQL Server is hosting multiple application databases, other than just the SSRS databases, a failure in SSRS may cause
a significant failover impact to the entire environment.
SSRS fails over independently of SQL Server.
If SSRS is running, it is going to do work on behalf of the overall deployment so it will be Active. To make SSRS Passive is to stop the SSRS service on all passive cluster nodes.
So, SSRS is designed to achieve High Availability through the Scale-Out deployment. Though a failover clustered SSRS deployment is achievable, it is not the best option for achieving High Availability with Reporting Services.

I am developing the HCM process form.
Is it possible to raise an error if any condition is not met in initialize method in generic service of HCM process & forms?
If possible could you please provide me the steps/process.
Thanks & Regards,
