Genius Bar Put Orb on my iPhone- Want to Remove
Good Morning All,
After recieving a defective iPhone 5 I was promptly given a new one at the Apple store last night. While I was there the person helping me at the genius part put this orb on my phone- when I touch it it opens to a square that has icons for Siri, Device, Home and Favorites. I can move it around just by touching and dragging. However, this little orb icon is a little annoying so I'm hoping to remove it. Does any one have any ideas?

Look no further help is here! The iPhone is a 3G device and does not use a SIM card with VZW. If you just got the iPhone 5S it should have come with the SIM card preinstalled. Visit http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-85113/ for instructions on how to activate the iPhone 5S. Keep us posted if you need further assistance.

Genius Bar puts some of my mail in Mail. I want it all to come to my Yahoo Mail. It's too confusing.

You must have either given them that email address or it is the address associated with your Apple ID?

Genius Bar and non working 3G iphone
My new 3g iphone was not working, I could hear people but they could not hear me regardless of signal strength. Went to the Genius bar and was told it was a SIM card issue and it was ATT's problem. No I am not a MAC Genius but I would have thought it was the microphone, so to male MAC happy I went to ATT who were more puzzled then me. They replace SIM card and still no one could hear me now. went back to the BAR and demanded a new phone, I was look at I was wrong and it was something I was doing (maybe not talking into the phone) and that’s why people could not hear me. After a demo for the genius he agreed it was the phone, so He disabled the 3G on the phone and placed a work order and said they would call me when the new phone came in. So now I have a new 300 dollar phone that I can not speak to people with or surf the net at faster speed, for this I pay $70 a month? I was referred back to ATT.
Any ideas on how to fix this?Call Apple and complain, complain about the stores service, and insist they replace the fun with a new iphone. You just bought a 3G phone, it only came out a couple days ago. There is no excuse for them not replacing the phone for a new phone. Thats just horrible service.

Frankly i'm seeing a decline in Apple store service over the past 2 years...
Demand that they replace it with a new phone. Apple should not be allowed to take your money and leave you with a "refurbished" Iphone 3G, a couple days after its launch! -
Has anyone reserved a Genius Bar "Personal Shopping" spot for iPhone?
Anticipating long waits, I reserved an appointment via the Genius Bar for personal shopping assistance on the 19th. Have others done the same?
Today? Hard to imagine anyone doing that. Someone said in a reception thread that he has a Sat appt.

iOS 6 update has done something to the YouTube icon and now I can't see videos when following the new link in the bookmark bar. Flash player required message appears and there is a black bar when scrolling.
YouTube is not now part of iOS 6. However, you can download the YouTube app at http://itunes.apple.com/app/youtube/id544007664.

IPhone 6 Plus Camera - Smudged Photos - A visit to Genius Bar
I have been using iPhone 6 Plus for more than 2 months. All through the phone is great for reading and battery life. Now the major problem I have been facing is the still photos taken with little bit of zoom are also getting smudged. The results are so bad they are a downgrade from iPhone 5. It is disheartening to see such poor quality software or image processing on such a hyped Camera Hardware. Coming to the point of solution I have visited the Genius Bar at Hillsdale Shopping Center San Mateo on 01/14/15. Following are the lame diagnosis steps they have done,
They did general diagnostic test - It has failed for too many App crashes - Genius Bar Associate said it is common, please reboot the phone regularly. What a solution!!!
Coming to camera they don't have any scientific way of finding the issues. So no proper diagnostic process.
They Took some pictures of Apple store with Zoom and without zoom. And showed me there are no smudge marks. What a great way of diagnosis!!!
Then I have mentioned them that it needs to take closeup of people. So now they started taking pictures of me with zoom and without zoom. After this they saw the smudges.
I have told them to compare with iPhone5. They took pictures of me with iPhone 5 and found the quality is much better than iPhone 6 Plus. Their explanation is f-stop and depth is different. What an innovative excuse for better picture quality on older version phone. I am seeing great bluffing activity started now.
Now the final comparison. They said they will compare with exact another iPhone 6 Plus and see if there are any issue with my phone. I said OK. Now they took pictures of me with a new identical iPhone 6 plus with zoom and without zoom. Great rope act now...they saw the exact smudges on photos on using the identical iPhone 6 Plus. Their explanation on next step.
Since both the phones are producing smudges they derived the conclusion that my phone has no issue. And they said that the issue is resolved. My answer to them is "ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED. IN FACT IT IS PROVED AND YOU BETTER ESCALATE IT AND SOLVE IT'
What a great experience at Genius Bar. If they have served beer or hard liquor instead of this BS I would have been a happy customer.I never asked for any replacement....I wanted a solution for bad picture. If it is proved that all phones are producing same smudges they better think a common solution for all. Case is not closed, in fact it remains open as long as they doesn't answer it.

I am going to get my sisters broken iPhone fixed to surprise her for Christmas. I have a Genius Bar appointment for Thursday. I'm just wondering, if the phone has to be replaced will they want me to set the replacement phone up with her details when I take it in or will they have an issue that it is not my phone? I know my sisters iTunes username but not her password. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks.
Thanks for that. The phone is out of warranty so I know I will have to pay for the repair/new phone and I'm fine with that. I believe it's the home button that is the issue. It won't work and she has to use the dot on the screen feature in settings to access functions. The screen is also slightly cracked. Do Apple fix these things while you wait or do they just give out replacement phones? Is it a flat fee to get everything fixed or do they charge for each individual problem?

So this disc won't load. I recently bought a new ipod nano, but am unable to put songs on it without the latest version of itunes.
My Macbook Pro is 2008 and has 10.4.11 the guys at the genius bar said to upgrade to snow leopard to upgrade to lion and I shouldn't have a problem. I was told I need 1GB of RAM and I have 2GBs of RAM but the disc spits out every time after about 3 minutes.

Freezing and crashing iPhone 5S - What do I need to do before going to Genius Bar
Bought a iPhone 5S in October. Started crashing, slowing down and freezing up 5 days ago. Revived it by hard reset (pressing power and home buttons).
Contacted Apple Support online chat, advised to restore from backup, try to use minimal function, and if it still had the same problem, need to go to Genius Bar.
So it continued to crash and freeze, and all the Genius did was to reset my phone and told me to not restore from backup.
My local Apple Store is difficult to get to - middle of town, difficult to get parking, and if this wasn't the holidays season, I would struggle to get to the Store during it's opening hours. A bit annoyed that I wasted time to go into the Genius Bar today when I could have easily wiped my phone at home!
My question to all of you is, if the phone continues to crash and freeze with the new setup, anything else I need to try before heading back to the Genius Bar? Don't want to waste anyone's time!

You're still not reading what the OPs are posting.
He has already restored it as new, not from a backup: "all the Genius did was to reset my phone and told me to not restore from backup. "
And, a hardware problem can DEFINITELY cause the symptoms described.
OP, if you have restored the device as new (iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4137), following those steps exactly, then you've done everything you can do. If the device, in that state, is still freezing & crashing, then it is almost definitely a hardware issue. -
Discusted @ Genius Bars aptitude after iphone got so hot it burned the desk
I have just got back from my nearest Apple store (which is a 120 mile round trip) to get my iphone replaced after it overheated twice whilst charging to the point that on the second occasion (last night) it damaged the desk it was on.
After the first time it happend ast week I did some searching around and it appeared to be a common problem. I noticed a few places mentioning the water sensor in it and to check this before taking it in for warrenty work, I checked mine yesterday and it was white.
Anyhow earlier today I put it on charge again and within 20 mins it was so hot it damaged the table top, I had to hold it i a cloth to unplug it and move it.
Anyhow, So I decided to take it the 60 mile drive to the store as I could not be without it for the 2 days quoted if it was collected from home, When I get there an appoitment was made for an hours time to see a so called genius.
This guy instantly said it's been in water, I explained that it hadn't and the sensor was white yesterday and the only thing that had happened between now and then was that it had got so hot it had burned a table, he refuse to do anything else with it but record the serial number in his system.
On asking if there was any way the senso could change colour without getting wet, he said no errr I don't think so. I asked about te over heating could that damage the sensor ? err don't think so.. Then th clasic question from him, "maybe you've been out in the rain, that can set them off" The phone lives in a case that covers everything but the dock and screen so no "rain" could have got in, even if I had been stupid enough to use it in the rain (which I am not)
So I am left at this point with an Iphone that could possibly cause a fire, that Apple refuse to fix because they "errm don't know if excessive heat can fail a water sensor"

The phone is charged on the AC charger, but we have 2 Iphones and an Ipod Touch in the house and the others are fine, this happend on 2 different chargers so is not an AC charger fault.
I have written to the manager and included the photo, so I am waiting to hear back, I also had an email from Apple asking me to fill out a survey on what I thought of my recent visit to the Genius Bar
I have filled that in as well, as I was not happy with the service it gave an option to be contacted by phone to discuss my issues further, so agreed to that. Who knows what will happen now, best case the phone will be replaced before it catches fire -
Just had my iPhone replaced @ the Genius Bar, now "No SIM" message is coming up.
I shattered my iPhone 4 screen the other day, went in to the Genius Bar today and had it replaced.
I have my previous iPhone's data on a back up on this computer. I turned on the new iPhone from the store and it gave me an error message saying a valid SIM card was not found in the phone. I can set up the basic settings (Language, location etc.) but cannot activate.
(P.S.: Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, I have no idea what the difference between CDMA and GSM is, so, I put this thread in both.)Make sure they didn't accidentally keep your SIM card.
Remove your SIM from your new phone and reinsert it. Before putting it back in make sure it isn't smudged. Also, make sure it completely seats itself when you put it back in. I've seen a SIM card error like this and the issue was simply that the card wasn't all the way in even though it appeared to be so.

My iPhone 4s socket for the headphones does not connect with the headphones' plug unless I push it in hard and hold it there. If I take my finger away, the outside world hears my music, but I can't hear it through the headphones. Is this a defect in the socket? Do I have to visit the Genius Bar? (I think I do, which would be pretty disappointing for a phone that's only a week old.)
I am having the same problem. Just got my phone 5 days ago! Just tried headphones tonight after I got Netflix and Pandora apps. I'm pretty peeved... tried 4 different pairs of earbuds and headphones. Going on a work trip in a week and really wanted to be able to use this new toy! Seems like it's a hardware problem. Did you get anywhere, cindyao?

Out of warranty Iphone 5 replacement - can I do this in-store without a genius bar appointment?
My Iphone 5 has died and despite attempts to fix this in-store I have been told that I will need to buy a replacement out-of-warranty phone. I have been through the genius bar process last month to try and fix the phone but without success. I now simply want to buy the replacement phone (at the reduced rate as the phone was not damaged by me). Do I need to make an appointment in the apple store or can I just show up and purchase this, as long as I have the broken old phone with me? Any similar experiences? I'd be grateful for any advice. I don't want to make a wasted trip to the Apple store just to be told I need another appointment! Thanks

Far better to make an appointment and know you will be seen
the genius will examine your iPhone and if satisfied it qualifies should offer an out of warranty exchange unit ($269 in US )
