Genius can't send info to Apple

The very first time I ran Genius it worked perfectly but when I tried to sync my iphone it wouldn't sync so I turned genuius off. Now when I try to turn Genius back on again it gives me this error:
*"Genius results can't be updated right now. An unknown error occurred (-50). Please try again later"*. It works fine when it collects data about my library but it's when it tries to send the info to Apple that it shows me the error. I'm guessing (and hoping) that this is an issue with the itunes servers and not with my PC. Anyone having similar issues? Any fixes I could try?
Thanks

I decided to check whether genius would work on another log on account on the same computer (in xp) and it worked like a charm (syncing w/iphone works too). So I simply rebuilt my itunes library on the other account by redirecting itunes to my old library. It still ***** that I had to do that, but at least it works now. I don't know why it didn't work in my windows account, it's exactly the same library! Oh well...

  • I have a stuck pixel on my ipod touch..Can i send it to apple?

Hi,my ipod touch has a green stuck pixel in the middle of the screen and its very annoying...Is this under warranty? Can i send it to apple and the can give me a new one?And if i can how can i contact them?THANKS!!@

Well, if it's that annoying to you, I'd go to the nearest apple store, but before you do, you should make reservation to see the genius there. I'm sure they will help you. Just show them where the stuck pixel(s) are.
But honestly, though I don't want to be a downer here, but even if you get it replaced, the possibility that you might get more stuck pixels when you get a new one. But of course, you can also be lucky that you can get a perfect one too. Usually stuck pixels should fix it self (not all the time tho).

  • After Leopard upgrade can't send mail in Apple Mail with dot mac account.

Just upgraded to Leopard and now I can't send mail through Apple Mail. Checked smtp and that's OK. How do I check what ports are open? That may be the problem. I looked at the Apple trouble shooting page and did everything there except the port check.
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Lou

Fixed my own problem. I put in the SMTP address but didn't save. Once I saved it worked.

I have the same problem. I have found that stopping the transfer then clicking Store - Turn Off iTunes Match, quitting iTunes, reopening iTunes and then Store - Turn On iTunes Match fixes the issue temporarily. When I add a new album later on, same thing all over again.

  • Sending info to apple stuck

Are their issues? Switched on PC and launched itunes earlier this evening. Started its weekly iTunes Match shenanigans but it just stays at sending info to apple. Normally it runs through to completion ok (well I think a couple weeks back it did same and tried a couple days later and it seemed to work). I have tried a few times this evening but won't go past this. I presume apple server issue seeing as I have changed nowt in my library since the last match. I am based in uk and wondered if others are getting the same today

Never mind. It just finally went through! It's a bit lousy though, good idea in principal but seems quite an unreliable service

  • Genius "times out" when sending info to Apple...!

Every time. And I have a good, fast cable connection!
Yes, I have a fairly big library (200+G).. but I'd like to use this feature.
    Any suggestions?
    tia,
    e

Funny... I thought mine had fixed itself, because I had the genius window give me some "matches" for some songs. I was running to a meeting, and didn't have time to check it out.
But then I saw the updates to this thread, and decided to check again... and it wasn't working!
So I went through it again, and for 10 minutes it "gathered info", and then "sent info to apple" for another 10. And for yet another 10 minutes it said "waiting for apple to process" the information.
When I went to be last night it was still "waiting for apple to process"... so I left my computer on... and this morning IT'S STILL GOING!
    Jeesh.

  • Can't send email through Apple mail

I suddenly am not able to send email through Apple mail on my MacBookPro.  ipad and iphone still working.  I can also send email through att online.  My email is @att.net, and the message says "The server cannot be contacted on port 465".  (That is the proper port)

    Hi,
    Here are some suggestions,
    1. Try downloading another free email client to see if it works from there, just to eliminate other possibilities.
    2. Try removing the account in mail settings, and adding it again with the correct settings.
Let me know what you find!

You can have it repaired/replaced, but you will have to pay.

    Hello Fruhilda!
It seems that my problem is resolved. My version was 4.1 and App Store didn't show any updates. But after som searching I found out that there was an iWork 9.3 update which I downloaded and installed. After the update the version was 4.3 and I was able to send documents to Apple Mail.

  • Can't send emails via Apple account (smpt errors)

I've been having this problem, on again and off again, for over two months. I even did live chats with Road Runner about the issue. It seems to be temporarily resolved. I've been getting these error messages:  Can't send message with using the server stmp-server.neo.rr.com.
The server response was: 4.1.8 - Domain of recipient does not resolve [R0309001]
Use the pop-up menu below to try a different outgoing mail server.  All messages will use this server until you quit Mail or change your network settings.
    or
The server response was: 5.5.2 RCPT TO syntax error
Use the pop-up menu below to try a different outgoing mail server.  All messages will use this server until you quit Mail or change your network settings.
My SSL is unchecked, there's no password for authentication, my port numbers and server emails are fine. Well, except the smtp. one. It keeps saying smpt, when I fixed it so many times. Is there any way to fix this problem on my six year old Imac. It's ok to send an email out to one person, but not more than one. I have the same troubles at the RR website.

Many ISP mail servers are restricted and will not permit mail to be sent that originates from outside their network (which the cellular data network is).
Check with the mail provider to see if you need to use a different SMTP server when using a mobile device.

  • Since 2 days can't send emails via Apple Mail

    Hi,
for 2 days now I'm unable to send emails from Apple Mail.
I have an Hotmail account (using POP3) and a WEB.DE account (using IMAP) connected with Mail. Every time I try to send an email Mail tells me the SMTP server are offline. My mobile.me account though works properly.
To exclude problems with certain ports on my WLAN router I tried to use Thunderbird on my Windows PC with these accounts. Sending emails this way wasn't a problem at all.
Also deleting all accounts and setting them up again didn't make a change...
Even changing the OS back from Lion to SL hasn't made an impact.
Any suggestions what might cause this weird problem?

    Hello P:
Since each one is different, I suspect the best answer to your question lies with your ISP.

  • Can't send email from Apple mail using hosted exchange since upgrade to 10.5.8

I've got a client who just upgraded to 10.8. Since doing so he can recieve email but not send it for a hosted exchange account. He can send and recieve from his personal pop account. It is a wireless connection.  I have tried the following without any success:
    1. Verified all the config info was correct (server password etc) - no change
    2. Deleted and re-added the account - same result
    3. Deleted keychain data and readed the account - no change.
    4. Ran disk utility (why not?) - no change
    5. Removed an internet sharing app called open garden - no change
    6. Installed 10.8.1 - no change
After trying all of this when we start mail everything looks good and then the outbound server abruptly goes "offline". The exchange host says there are no issues on their end. Internet works too. Email delivers/sends to his iPhone, iPad, and a home iMac that was also upgraded to 10.8.
Anyone with other ideas? This one has me stumped.
    -Jonathan

I have the exact same issue, but with a standard IMAP account and SMTP.  My iPhone can send out, using the EXACT same settings, from the exact same WiFi connection...but the 10.8 MacBook cannot send at all.  The only account I can send out on is my iCloud account.
I have also tried all the steps above...no luck.
I have also turned off all network filters and firewalls...no luck.  (And as I said above, my iPhone is on the exact same WiFi connection and using the exact same settings, and it can send fine.)
Other messages I've found via Google have suggested simply forcing the SMTP server to use Port 25, but that didn't work for me either.
