Genius cannot find songs

Every time i pick a song and click the genius button, i get a message saying genius is unavailable for the song, so i go update genius from store button but no joy. I know i have some obscure music tastes but even Apple must have heard of Elvis. Can anyone help?

Select the Genius playlist.
At top right, select Save playlist.
This saves as a regular playlist you can then add to.

  • ITunes cannot find songs in library

For some reason, my iTunes cannot find songs in my iTunes library that are there. It says the file cannot be located, and I have to go one by one and individually find the files for iTunes. I checked in my preferences and I made sure that it is actually looking in the folder where all my songs are. Any idea why this happened? Is there any way to find all of the songs at once instead of doing them individually? (I have about 800 songs, so that could take a while).

One way you might be able to speed things up ( re-add to itunes) is to find songs where Itunes does know about from the same Artist and then right click on song and select reveal in explorer. This will give you the path to folder of similar songs. You then go to folder and select the songs you want re-added to itunes. While it plays it gets re-added. YOu can play a few seconds of the song and then go to next one that needs to be added.

  • Imovie cannot find songs in itunes

Imovie cannot find songs in itunes

You need to create a play list of songs that you would use for movies - mine is called Music for Movies.  Then when you click on the music icon (the first box in the line of 5 in the grey bar across the lower third of the screen) and a drop down menu will appear showing all your play lists.  Then simply drag and drop, but make sure that you hover over the video clip that you want to add the music to.  If you don't the music will be added to the start of your presentation.  You can always move the position afterwards. NOTE - if you want to add to your play list do it before you start your video editing as the list does not always update when I Movie.

  • "cannot find songs online" when trying to play/import from cd.

When trying to play/import a cd I get "cannot find songs online" message. Only Track # & time are displayed. When trying to get cd info I get "not registered for online use" message. Never did this before. Thanx in advance for any help.

The "not recognized for on-line use" error is associated with the Gracenote service that iTunes uses to look up and retrieve metadata for CDs.  Some users have reported that this error occurs when trying to import from CD, subsequent to upgrading to version 12 (though the number of reports has reduced significantly since 12.1 was released).  A number of slightly different solutions have been reported (though all of a similar nature).
Try walking through the following steps - before starting you may have to enable hidden files and folders to be viewed - in Windows 7 / Windows Explorer select Organize > Folder and search options, then on the View tab make sure that Show hidden files, folders and drives is selected.  I don't have a Vista system to check whether its different, but you may need to:
Select Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization
    Click Folder Options
    Select the View tab
Under Advanced Settings, click Show hidden files and folders, then click OK.
Without this you won't see the AppData folder in C:\Users\username\.
    Exit iTunes
In Windows Explorer, go to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
    Delete the following files:
    CD Info.cidb
    com.apple.iTunes.Gracenote.plist
    Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
    If this doesn't work:
In iTunes, select Edit > Preferences and make a note (or take a screenshot) of your preferences settings in all relevant tabs
    Exit iTunes
In Windows Explorer, go to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
    Delete the following file:iTunesPrefs.xml
    Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If this second procedure does work, you'll need to restore other iTunes preferences settings to those that you noted in step 1.
    If this one didn't work:
    Exit iTunes
    Check the following folders:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
    C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Apple Computer\iTunes
Delete any copies of the following files:
    CD Info.cidb
    com.apple.iTunes.Gracenote.plist
    iTunesPrefs.xml
    Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
Again, if this procedure does work, you'll need to restore other iTunes preferences settings to those that you noted in step 1 of the second procedure.
If you're still not able to retrieve CD info:
    Exit iTunes
In Windows, select Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.  Find the entry for iTunes, right-click and select Repair.
When this process has finished, restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If none of these have worked (and almost everything I've seen suggests you should be OK by this point), you may have an issue with the installation and configuration of iTunes itself.  If you have got this far, see turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for advice on how to remove and replace of all components of iTunes.

  • Cannot Find Songs

I get this message when trying to play my songs:
*This song "Dixie Lullaby" could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?*
I cannot locate my songs. What has happened?
    Thank you for any advice.

I don't know where you have your music on your Computer. If you cannot find it anymore, than it must have been deleted or something. If not, than it MUST be somewhere on your computer, and you have to tell iTunes where the actual path is.
I recommend to separate your iTunes music from all other music on your PC. To do that, you should go into iTunes and select: Edit > Preferences. Then choose the Advanced folder and set the path for the iTunes folder where you want it (I have it in the "My Music" folder).
Then you should enable +Keep iTunes folder organized+ and +Copy files to iTunes Music when adding to library+.
    Then press OK.
I also recommend the following. You should do this when your library shows no problems to play any song.
You should select Advanced > +Consolidate library+ and press Consolidate.
Then all music of your iTunes library will be copied in your iTunes folder.
This separates your iTunes Music from the other music on your PC (hope you got enough space).
Don't change names or move files inside the iTunes folder manually. Do that only in iTunes. ITunes will then set the new name inside the iTunes folder by itself (presupposed you have enabled +Keep iTunes folder organized+).
    Hope this will help.
    Chris

  • Appear to be losing songs in my library says cannot find song to play?

when I request my itunes library to play a song - it comes up with "cannot find do you want to locate"  I did locate and the ones that will not play are there but are grayed out?  This appears to  have happened after the last update.  Help.  Thanks

    You moved or renamed something.
Either your iTunes Media is in a different location, or a folder in the path to it has been renamed.
iTunes uses an XML file to locate your songs. It works like the hyperlinks in a webpage. If the path to a song doesn't match EXACTLY what is in the XML, it pops the error message up. All it takes is a simple move or name change for that to happen.

  • ITunes cannot find songs when iPod or iPhone is plugged into computer

Every time I plug my iPod or iPhone into my computer, an iTunes box pops up saying, " 'such n such' song could not be copied to the device because they could not be found." There will be a little arrow saying '100 total problems'. Actually it is referring to all songs/videos/whatever in the device. When I look in the library it is there with the exclamation point. The song plays when selected, so it is not gone. It only seems to disappear when I attach a device to my computer and iTunes comes up. I thought I fixed it when I restored my iPhone. After I reattached the phone with the newly added songs, the error message showed again.
It's not as bad as it sounds as the items are still there. The songs are still on my iPod too. When I remove the device and restart iTunes, it acts as though nothing is wrong until I again attach any idevice. It can be a real headache when I want to recharge and play random songs that is cannot find or add those songs to another .
I do have all my songs on a network attached storage device with a RAID 5 system.
    Anybody else have similar porblems?

    Hi Liza225
The article iTunes: Finding lost media and downloads will teach you how to locate your purchase. If you can not locate them, you can still redownload your purchases. Follow the steps in outlined in Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.
    I hope it helps...

  • Updated iTunes to 7.6.1.9 and cannot find songs or games

I updated iTunes and now it gives me exclamation marks next to nearly all my 5200 songs. Plus, when trying to synch, it also gives me the error iTunes could not synch the game "Brain Challenge" to the iPod "xxx" because the game could not be found. It gives me this same error for all 6 iPod games.
I've already tried to point iTunes to a previous library to no avail. It just updates the file and has the same problems of not finding the all the files (both music and games). It also keeps making another copy of the library file within the Previous iTunes Library folder.
    I'm at a loss now.

I too have upgraded to 7.6.1.9 but when I opened iTunes acted as if it was the first time it was ever opened. I do not keep my library on the C drive. First thing I did was back everything up to another drive for insurance. Then I imported the library and now the songs that it imported all have the same date and more importantly most of my purchases are not there. Is there a way when I start up iTunes to just point it to the correct library? I have over 18,000 songs on my computer. Please help.

  • Where is my imported library. I cannot find songs from my cds.

I have signed up for the Cloud and Imatch.  As soon as I did, my own library disappeared and my I am attempting to find my own songs off my cds or else re-import them, which literally will take weeks. Where are these songs hiding?

The show duplicates/show exact duplicates features have been left out of iTunes 11. Rumor suggests they will be restored in the next build. In the meantime I have written two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates, either from a selection of tracks or the entire library.
If you want to manually remove duplicate tracks use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist. Keep one of each repeated group of files and don't send to the recycle bin unless you are sure that there are multiple files on the disc as opposed to multiple entries to the same file.
There is also my DeDuper script if you don't want to do it by hand. This can preserve ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. which are lost in a manual clean up. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background on deduping and the script.

  • HELP cannot find song

Ok yesterday I searched for Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven and all I found was cheapo imitation tribute bands...WHAT GIVES Is iTunes too cheap to buy good songs? Or am I just being stupid and searching for the wrong thing? Please help.

    Beef,
That is in part why certain groups will not release for download. Somewhere along the line they get the idea that someone will make a copy of the digital file, strip the copy protection (in violation of the DMCA), and put them up on the pirate 2 pirate networks.
You have just validated their point of view. Congrats on helping feed the paranoid delusions of the RIAA
Yes, I am saying this with at least a little tounge in my cheek, and at least a little at your expense. But the point remains the same. No hard feelings I hope...

  • IMovie cannot find my 13 files

I uploaded 13 segments of video I shot this weekend into iMovie under a title, but when I click the title, the folder is empty. iMovie erased the movies from my desktop so I can't get to them.
    Where are they in iMovie?
    Thanks.

I'm having the same problem... and I have not moved any of my files.  So the fact iTunes cannot find songs that it had previously played makes no sense to me.

  • Spotlight can't find song text in iTunes

In iTunes you can type the text of a song in the field: Text - but Spotlight can't find this information.
But if you copy the same text in Info - and the box: comments - Voila - Here we go!
It would be a good thing if Spotlight can find all the information you have about your songs - like text from a Dashboard widget - (this text file IS FOUND!)
Is it possibel for Spotlight to find this information?
    Thanks

    Hi, flemminglimar.
There's no "Text" field in the Get Info window for any song I have in iTunes. I'm running iTunes 6.0.2.
If I launch iTunes, Control-Click a song, select Get Info from the resulting context menu, then click the Info tab, there's no Text field therein.
Have you installed some tool like ID3X for adding lyrics to sounds?
iTunes now includes a Lyrics tab into which one can type or paste song lyrics. This seems to be a relatively recent addition to iTunes. Adding content to the Lyrics tab of a song file actually writes them inside the song file itself, but Spotlight does not find them. It appears that the Spotlight plug-in for Audio has not been updated since Tiger was released and does not index the lyrics, hence it cannot find songs based on their lyrics.
    Good luck!
