(GENIUS) Connecting iTouch to Car Stereo Head Unit

Ok
This one is for all of you wearing those black Genius T-Shirts
I have an iTouch
I am connecting it to my Pioneer DEH-6600 car stereo head unit
I have connected it using the Pioneer CD-IB100 iPod Adapter
Everything is working fine
Though I an only control my iTouch through the head unit controls
And would prefer to control it from the iTouch directly
Though when I start it up
The screen immediately locks to show iTouch Connected to an Accessory
When I push the menu button
The main menu comes up
But when I select Music
I goes back to the locked screen showing iTouch Connected to an Accessory
Is there anyway to bypass this so that I can control the iTouch directly rather than from the head unit

The method used to recognize the device has a shortcut to improve the connect time. So after the update to iOS4, the host device still thinks that it is connecting to the un-updated client device. The client device ie. Your iPhone with iOS4, must fool the host device ie. Your car stereo, into believing that is an entirely new device. This is done by connecting your iPhone to the stereo head USB port with the iPhone switched off completely. This is achieved by holding down the top power button on the iPhone until the red slide bar comes up and prompts yup to shut the iPhone down. Do this and then with the car stereo switched on, plug the iPhone into the USB socket and wait till the iPhone stars of it's own accord. If it does not start, press the top power button on the phone until it starts. This will force the stereo and iPhone to re-negotiate the handshake between the devices and get you back to where you will once again be happy.

Can anyone recommend a car stereo head unit for use with the iphone that basically streams the iphone music and calls through the car speakers. Surely there must be a usb and bluetooth enabled head unit that can do this?
    thanks

I have a Pioneer DEH-P700BT head unit that connects to my iPhone/iPod via usb and 30pin connector, and also does hands-free calling. Check it out here at:

  • Using the Ipod with a car stereo head unit interface

I have a Kenwood stereo head unit with a kca-ip500 interface for the ipod in my car so I can control the ipod through the head unit.
I was using my mothers old Ipod Nano with it and it was great because when you turn the car off, the song would pause and then when you start your car again, the song would continue on.
Now that I have my own Ipod, the 6th generation Nano, the ipod does not automatically turn on when i start the car unless it was on not long ago. Meaning the ipod turns itself off eventually and the next day when i drive my car I have to pull the ipod out of the glove box and turn it back on. I did not have to touch my mothers ipod, it just automatically turned on for me.
Any way around this so the ipod automatically turns on when it is fed power???

You did not answer my question, was it a firmware update for you iPod or you radio.
Firmware updates for iPods are done through iTunes, did they send instructions on how you were supposed to load it?
    What was the filename?

  • IPhone 5 connected to Pioneer car stereo has no sound

I have a Pioneer AVIC-X940BT head unit and an iPhone 5 with iOS 6.01. I connected the iPhone to the head unit via a Lighting to 30-pin adapter. At first I couldn't get the iPhone to communicate with the head unit but after doing a hard reset on the iPhone it is communicating...sort of. If I use Pandora, Aha Radio or try to play my music on the iPhone the controls come up but there is no sound. If I use the iPhone with my headphones I have sound. I install AppRadio from the iTunes store but that didn't help.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions someone might have.

Okay... no replies from anybody, but fortunately, it seems that the IOS 5.1 update fixed all the volume issues.  Hopefully this helps somebody else.

  • Ios 8.3/iPhone 6 problem connecting to Pioneer car stereo

    Pioneer model AVH-X2600.
There are two ways to connect to my car stereo to play music: iPod mode or Bluetooth.  Prior to 8.3 the BT connection would automatically pause my music after about 10 seconds.  After I push Play on the stereo it would continue on without issue.  Following the 8.3 update, after about 10 seconds on the BT connection there is this awful scratching/skipping noise, not unlike a skipping cd.  But after 5-10 seconds of that, everything is back to normal.
Prior to 8.3 the iPod mode would take a good 20 secs to connect, but then everything would play normally.  Now, with 8.3, it won't connect at all.
I don't have any problems with BT connections to other speakers, so maybe this is a Pioneer problem??  Anyone else having this same problem?

Apple is messing with car connectivity for the new car functionality. The "updates" are breaking iPod mode on multiple vehicles. iOS 8.4 Beta 1 is even worse. Connects fine but most functionality is broken.

  • Why can't I connect iPod to car stereo with red/white RCA cables?

I have red/white/yellow RCA (I think that's the name of them) plugs in my car stereo and I bought a cable to connect it to my iPod. It's the small plug (3.5 I think) on one end and a split 'Y' that's red and white on the other. The people and my car dealer connected a cell phone that is also a music player to it and it works, but it won't work with the iPod connected. The dealer thought it should be able to work with my iPod, but doesn't know why it won't. Are iPods able to connect to a car stereo this way. Is there another special cable that I need to get?

No, I should think that would work fine. I have a splitter like that connected to my hifi and no issues...you would want to make sure the volume on the iPod is up all the way; I don't know what car stereo you have, but possibly it's a setting on there that isn't right?

  • My iPhone 4 plays music at a low volume when connected to a car stereo

My iPhone 4 plays music at a low volume when connected to a car stereo either by fm transmitter or aux cable. The volume on the phone is full and the car stereo is full yet you can barely hear it. Anyone else had issues with this

I seem to remember someone several months ago having this same problem and I think it turned out to be the AUX cord.
FM transmitters tend to have low volume associated with them as well from my experience.

  • Ios 5.0.1 + Iphone 4 bluetooth connection issue with car stereo

My Iphone 4 will not connect with my new JVC car stereo I have spoken to JVC customer support and they say its an Apple issue that they need to fix (changed something with the bluetooth connection scripts in the latest update update, as they have done before).
The phone finds the stereo and then tries to pair with it, however half way through the pairing process the phone losses connection with the stereo and the pairing is then deleted.
I have deleted all the existing pairing in the phone memory and ensured that the stereo has been rebooted to ensure no conflict of previous installs would effect the process
Does anyone know if Apple are going to fix this glitch in a new softwre update (and if so when is it being released) as at the minute i have an expensive stereo which is cant use to its full ability?

Similar problems occured when Apple released iOS 4 last year. It was NOT fixed with an update from Apple. It was fixed by the system vendors and automakers releasing updates for their equipment. There are ongoing complaints from people with some Toyota built cars (Toyota and Lexus) with some systems as well as some BMW drivers.
I'm willing to bet money that the head unit you have is not fully standards compliant. Unfortunately, getting JVC to admit that is going to be nearly impossible. I suspect they will just quietly issue an update sometime in the next few months. Assuming the head unit can be updated by the end user at all.  You may have to resort to an inexpensive visor mount speaker phone in the mean-time.

  • Bluetooth connection issue with car stereo

    Hi,
I have a N8-00, with the current belle software on it.
With my car Bluetooth it will connect and function properly when I first add the device (N8) to the car Bluetooth, but if I turn the ignition off and then back on again it won't pair, if I try to manually do it, it just comes up with error without a code.
Deleting the device and trying to re-pair it wont work unless I restart my phone, and I am unable to turn Bluetooth off on my phone until after restarting it.
    This is getting very frustrating.
    Please help!!

  • Can my iPad2 be connected to my car stereo?

Hi, does anyone know if I can connect my iPad2 to my car stereo system? I'm going on a long road trip and it would be great to listen to my iTunes music. My Honda Civic has an AUX port and I wondered if there was any way I could use it for this. Any help would be awesome . . . Thanks.

Thanks for the fast response..   I see what you mean..  so it would also work for the iphone 4s, right?   But it won't keep the battery charged,   but I could then use the dock connector to charge to charge with the car charger at the same time or is this not possible?
I am seeing this  at amazon, but then the battery would also not charge at the same time, right?  (Iphone 4s battery time is not good)

  • After upgrade to ios 6 usb connection problems with car stereo

    Hi Everyone,
after ios upgrade to ios6 i am not further able to use the iPhone 4s as music device - having usb connection problems ("not readable"). I am sure, that the upgrade ist the culprit; worked fine before. My car stereo is built in a Volvo XC 60; the device is connected via the standard usb cable by apple.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks

  • Connecting to alpine car stereo

I connected my ipod nano to my Alpine stereo and it worked nicely ( once ). The next time I got in the car, it wouldn't play. The ipod said ok to disconnect, but the stereo seemed to be playing music, I just wasn't getting any sound out of the speakers. When the ipod is connected to my stereo shouldn't it be saying "do not disconnect?"
I am so frustrated. I don't know if I have to set something on the ipod or what. My car stereo reconizes that the ipod is hooked to it and it even displays the names of artist I have on my ipod, it just won't output sound. I really think it has something to do with the ipod saying ok to disconnect. Any help would be appreciated.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Does it normally say Do Not Disconnect? Usually when the iPod is connected to a car system, it displays OK to Disconnect. That part seems to be normal.
Disconnect your iPod from the system and reset it...
    Resetting iPod
Now connect it back up. Does it work? You may also want to try resetting it while it is connected to the stereo.

Hi, To my dissapointment my Z3 won't connect to my Sony car stereo via USB at all, it seems it is uncompatable whereas my iPod does no problem.. Any help with this?

Most cars have an AUX connection which connects to the headphone jack and to AUX is also a headphone jack so a double ended 3.5mm audio jack which is for phones where as the USB connection is designed for dedicated mp3 style devices like your ipod

    Hi guys,
Considering getting an iPhone 3G, but before I do so, will I be able to use it with my car stereo to talk hands free with?

It should work if your stereo supports the hands free protocol.
