Genius Crashes iPod Touch

Every time I try to use my Genius list on my iPod Touch it crashes out of the music player. Anyone know of issues with this?

Still no luck with this problem.
I still have not been able to get this to work. I have the 2nd generation touch and was hoping with the recent release of 3.1.2 that the problem would go away. But, Sadly it did not. I even tried resetting the touch again, turning on and off genius but the music player in the Touch crashes every single time on particular songs, while with others it creates the Genius list without any problems.
For Example on Itunes on my computer or the Apple TV. I can create a Genius playlist from a Johnny Cash song and it works every time. However, if I try to create a genius playlist on the Touch from any Johnny Cash song it crashes the music player every time.

  • Enabling Genius on Ipod Touch

I have turned on Genius on my Itunes and have syned by Ipod Touch since then. But when I try to use Genius on my IPOD Touch, it says that Genius has not been enabled, eventhoug it is definitely working on Itunes. Can someome offer me some suggestions? Does this have anything to do with the fact that I manually manage my music?

    You are correct!
You will have to sync it, but turn off those things that you don't want synced. I manage my music using the genius lists and play list I want on my iPT and sync only those play lists.

  • App Store crashing iPod Touch 4 after iOS 6?

I updated my ipod to iOS 6 and when I tried to go to app store it crashed. I tried again and the same. I turned the iPod off and tried again and it doesn't work. All other apps are always closed and it still doesn't work. I just bought that iPod about a month ago. What should I do?
I'm very disappointed with these updates. I think that you expect to find good things when you do updates not everything worse. I didn't like anything of this update at all.

The App store crashing is a problem for many users after iOS update.
    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

  • Itunes crashes ipod touch - =?

    I have a 2nd Gen Ipod Touch - Best thing ever =)
but I have a couple of problems that may have been adressed before
    but -
    1. When I play NOVA VODCAST| PBS podcasts ( only certain ones) like Brain Trauma or Stem cell Or SAVING HUBBLE The ipod shows -- random white dots then it crashes and takes quite a bit of time to reboot -Are you guys getting the same thing?- The shows are quite good- but they seem like malicious videos?
    2.Why can't I delete songs?
    3. I have a video on my ipod but the cover art for it is from some other TV shoe I got from itunes but then deleted. Only for 1 video , odd
    4. When I go to Cover flow - certian albums just dissapear when they're at the center however they appear. Also in cover songs are listed under the album but cerrtian songs when played dont display the album
    5. The time changes whenever I sync- Its annoying _ anything other than opening itunes beforehand ?
    -Thanks
and how would you guys recomend invisible shield?
and does any of this warrant a exchange/replacement

hmm, some of those problems are weird...
Did you try to restore your ipod?
as for the song deleting, if you want to delete songs you have to remove/delete is from the playlist in itunes that the ipod is syncing to.

  • How to turn off Genius on iPod touch

I  want to turn off Genius on my iPod touch.  I have already turned it off on my iTunes (in my PC), but it is still
shoing Genius playlists om my iPod.

Thank you.  I did sync my iPod with iTunes but the Genius Mixes (at Genius prompt) and a Genius playlist
(under Playlists) still appear on my iPod.  Insanely, I had previously unchecked Genius In my Account
settings.   I also shut down and restarted my iPod and my Laptop.  Is it possible the Genius is no longer
active but downloaded stuff is still in the iPod,  like when you turn off Match?   R

  • Always crash iPod Touch os 4.3

After installing OS 4.3, I am almost unable to use my Ipod Touch 2 gen.
Even with last update, always crash, and restore, when I try to open music: I consider me very lucky is I could access it after 3 crashes.
Apple contacted me, asked me for crash logs, and then.... DISAPPEARED!
It's not the way to work, guys
    Any hint?
    Ciao
    Andy

No, sorry, I was wrong: my iTouch is the 3rd 3 generation: it's the 64 GB version.
Not jailbroken, just malfunction....only after OS 4.3, before it was perfect.
    Thanks!

  • Computer Crashed - iPod Touch Wants to Erase Itself

My computer crashed and I had to get a new hard drive. I had just saved all my songs onto a flash drive, but did not do the 'proper' backup. Now when I plug my iPod touch into my computer, it tells me in order to continue, all of my items - music, apps/games - will need to be erased. None of the music was purchased - all songs were transferred/imported -, all of the apps are free apps. Does anyone know a safe way I can get back on iTunes without permanently losing all of my stuff? Also, will I need to re-register my iPod if/when I get back on iTunes?

    Welcome to the discussions,
Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there to do it the other way, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0
Apps can be downloaded again for free: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

  • IPod Touch 4th gen iOS 6.0.1 keeps crashing

    Hello
My iPod keeps crashing when I open certain apps, like the App Store and also a magazine that I subscribe to that has its own app.  I have to close all the open apps and then do a reset (hold down both on/off switch and the home button).
This solves the problem, but it's frustrating to have to do it every couple of days.
Any idea what the problem is?
    - too many apps "open"?
    - iOS 6.0.1 running on a 4th generation iPod Touch?
    - too many apps on my device? (I have 2.8 GB free of 32 GB total)
    - something else?
    Any suggestions/advice/information will be appreciated.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

  • My ipod touch crashed and is stuck on the apple icon.I held both buttons to shut off,but it just keeps turning back on.my apple laptop itunes wont reconize the ipod,so I can restore it? what can I do to fix this issue?

my ipod touch crashed and stays stuck on apple icon..I've held both buttons together to shut it down so many times, but soon as screen goes black, and its off it turns it on again by its self and won't stay off.I can't restore ipod beause itunes on my apple laptop won't sync or reconize ipod.I have the latest version of itunes, what else can I do?My itunes on my other  windows laptop won't either because that says there is no internet connection to itunes, all thought that computer is and works online in everything but itunes.Any ideas anyone would be greatly appreciated!

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall for the network problem.
Also for the original problem try the following if Ana's suggestions does not work
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Why does my 3rd generation iPod touch freeze and crash randomly?

My sister has a used 3rd Gen iPod touch. It looks fine, not much physical damage beyond normal wear. But it will continuly randomly freeze and crash. It will shut off and we have to turn it back on, only to have it crash again. The frequency of this varies and resetting it and restoring it to factory setting make no difference. Is there anything we could do to fix it?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

  • My short lived iPod Touch experience - constant crashing.

Hi there, this is my first post so I'd just like to start by stating I'm in no way here to bash Apple. I think Apple offers a product that is mostly unrivalled in build quality and function. It unfortunate though that when things go wrong there is little recourse once beyond the warranty period.
    So here is my story:
My brother bought an iPod Touch(2nd gen) around 2 years ago and in doing so I inherited his iPod Video(5th gen, which was bought the day it was released) and I was extremely pleased, obviously. The iPod video has performed flawlessly since day one and still works without a single error of any kind. That is what Apple is known for.
Ok, so back to the iPod Touch. My brother has now handed it to me telling me of it's problems. It freezes, gets a white screen, then you have to restart it, it's also sluggish. Now, this is the 32gb version and he's never been close to filling it. He just mostly uses it for the wifi. His pc is chunky and loud so he uses the touch when around the house. It rarely left his room in fact! So anyways I asked him why he didn't return it while it was in warranty and he said that because it was rare for it to crash and all he had to do was to reset it and it'd be ok. Quite frankly that's something I could live with too if it was rare. But recently it's terrible. You can't watch videos from youtube or from the ipod itself without it freezing. If you play songs you'd be lucky to get through a couple of tracks without it locking up. And this is after a billion restores. After reading this forum i'm starting to think it's ios4 that effed it up so bad. My brother took it to one of the genius guys at the apple store he bought it from just a couple of weeks ago and they said it was a hardware issue and offered about £50 off the cost of buying a new one as a solution. I'm glad my brother declined that offer because as we live in the UK we're covered by a great law... I'm sure some of you are aware of it. Anyways it basically says that the goods must be of satisfactory quality; fit for purpose and as described and they must be for 6 years from purchase. Now as Apple was both the manufacturer and retailer of the product I'm going to pursue either a full refund, replacement or repair(at reasonable cost if any free would be better :P as £50 discount is not reasonable) because this particular iPod was clearly not of satisfactory quality and now it's not fit for purpose. I was wondering how other people's experience of this has been? As I stated earlier, I love the Apple products and if I were a richer man I'd make one my main workstation too but this is unacceptable.
    Much love,
    Alberto.
P.S I decided to try the erase content and settings and understood from the warning that it would take around 4 hours. "That's fine" I said to myself and left it plugged into the power supply and went to sleep. It's 24 hours later the Apple logo with the progress bar at 2/3 full is still there. How long should this take? There was nothing on it before I started.

Ok, so an addendum of sorts.
I removed the power cable because I was moving to another room and I wanted it with me but I forgot to plug it back in so I'm going to presume that the battery ran out before the full erasure took place.
Restored a fresh ios4 etc. etc. and began to fill up the ipod. I also put a 3 part, 3 hour BBC documentary on there to test the video. Well, no surprise. It began to crash/freeze again with the default settings so I thought I'd try everything on at the highest and it did a little better. The strange thing is when I put the headphones I use on my laptop onto the ipod it worked like it's meant to work. It played the video without flaw until the batteries ran out. So now it's charging up, without the cheap-o Creative headset on and it's back to being a lump of poo. I mean it's actually worse than it was before as it now crashes at the initial unlock screen after it's booted up. So it obviously hates having to use it's own speaker and hates the earphones it came with. This makes no sense what so ever.
I'm still going to aim at a refund, repair or replacement because it's meant to just work. No excuses, no work around, just work.

  • 4G iPod touch KEEPS CRASHING AFTER 6.1.3 UPDATE

Okay, so I live in an area with rural internet. Because of this I have only just downloaded the 6.1.3 iOS update this week for my 4G iPod touch. I have only just discovered how bad an idea that was.
Safari crashes every half-minute, the iPod is now INCREDIBLY slow, Twitter, YouTube and almost every app I have keeps crashing after a minute or so...
I have gone over all the 'fixes' that google has presented to me.
Clearing the multitasking bar doesn't change jack and I can't roll back my iPod to the backup on iTunes because I just got a new computer. And the first thing I did was move all my music over and SYNC THE IPOD AFTER IT HAD BEEN UPDATED.
So what am I supposed to do? My iPod is USELESS to me now as an internet-capable device OR music player, and no matter where I look the only help anyone can offer is "Apple doesn't support downgrading"???
So Apple updates the OS with a faulty patch and I have to deal with the failure?
Is there anyone who can actually HELP me? What do I do? Jailbreak the **** thing? I've never jailbroken anything before, but surely it can't render my iPod any more useless than it already is! It's not like the thing is covered under warranty anymore! (Really convinient, that...)
Can some please help me get my iPod WORKING again?! I paid $300 dollars for a music player with internet access, not a paperweight!
Either way, I'm officially done with Apple devices after this nonsense. I hear Galaxy Tabs actually work! Imagine!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
