Genius in iTunes does not find anything when iTunes match is turned on

Hey,
adding songs to iTunes match worked without any problems. Now I added my MBP (with an empty iTunes Library) to iTunes match. Since I can get the music from iCloud I thought I don't need to copy the hole library to this device, too (80GB additional free space, yay!). Now Genius is shown as turned on. But it doesn't show me any Genius-Mixes and if I hit the Genius-Button when playing a song it always tells me "Genius is not available for the song", even for songs it was available before. My guess is, Genius only tracks songs that are saved localy and since I don't have any songs stored on my MBP it doesn't find any mixes. Is it really like this and will it be fixed somewhen? Genius is really one of my absolute favorite features in iTunes and I don't see the problem why it should be impossible to create Genius-mixes for your iCloud-songs..

I am still not totally clear on what you are trying to do bu tmight I suggest checking your storage and security settings in your setting menu. The symptoms sound like a conflict. If your settings are set for wifi sharing and you use USB the system amy see it as a conflict.
I do not use the wifi sharing function, more for reliabilty reasons then anything else. if your laptop or other workstation have access to multiple networks they may not sync properly for a variety of reasons.
I would see if someone eles has any suggestions as well...

this is weird, i put in a cd and it won't do anything at all not even run it just waits about a minute and ejects it, i have it set to open i tunes when a cd is put in and i have everything checked in the importing section of i tunes prefrences why why won't it let me import from bought cds? not all but some.

There are no special configurations you can make to deal with copy protected discs. However, since you have not mentioned that any of the CDs you've used have copy protection, I'm not sure why this issue has come up... Anyway, there aren't any copy protected CDs that OS X can't play. Mounting copy protected discs and playing the audio portion (session) of them is something left for your optical drive and firmware to deal with. I would also have to interject that the error correction preference (for reading audio CDs) has absolutely nothing to do with how discs are mounted on a Mac. It has to do with reading CDs that are already mounted.
I work with a lot of different Macs, and every one of them exhibits strange behaviors when handling removable media (CDs and DVDs). As was mentioned earlier in this thread, it usually comes down to just trying to load the discs again (and again) until they spin up and mount.

Music Rights, security,every body wants something like this and like that- with all they have to consider and take care to get not sued- it is no wonder thta there are some restrictions.
And why ? because they are the only one to realy care an respond to questions and claims. Ever tried to get help from Sony and other Bigies ? Its like talking to a wall.Their support is just a not specific call center. Or did somebody read recently that Sony Erricson was called before the judge because their Cellphones are failing after third time repair (true story), their batteries are burning, their music devices dont let you transfer the music you bought(MiniDisc) and so on? Seldom right?!
If I read news about Apple, I just wonder how many legal challenges Apple has to face.

HP Photosmart 7520 does not recognize computer when trying to scan.

I have went thru the wireless setup on the printer, have done the steps recommended for other similair posts, printer will scan when initiated by paint, but does not find computer when accessing from printer screen. Computer and printer are connected and wireless network test results are all good. I've run out of ideas. Please help.

Itunes does not find nano

Have had a shuffle for years, no problems. Just got the 2nd generation nano and Itunes does not find it. It seems to load on windows as a usb device but is not recognized by Itunes so does not appear as a device there...so cannot restore, etc. I have already tried all the fixes on apple's site. Deleted temp files, deleted Itunes completely and reinstalled it. Could not delete the registry files suggested...got an error message. Cannot locate the serial number...none on the nano itself nor on the box. Help says I can find it by going to settings/about. I can't find "setting" on my menu!!! Where is it? My menu only has music, fm, etc, etc and setup. And nothng in setup gives me settings or about.

Where did you get this 2nd Generation Nano?
Serial number is in very small type on the back of the Nano towards the bottom below the box that has the size of your Nano. Settings is on the first menu when you turn on your Nano, use the click wheel to highlight it and click the center button. First item will be About, click on it and then move your click wheel and the serial number will be the second item from the bottom.
If you don't have any of this you don't really have a Nano.

ITunes does not open automatically when I put my device via the USB cord into my computer. Even though I checked that box in I tunes

1. open up applications, and right click the itunes icon.
2. select 'show package contents'
3. open the contents folder
4. open the resources folder
5. scroll down until you find the ItunesHelper icon.
6. Now open up your system preferences.
7. select accounts
8. select login items
9. now drag the ItunesHelper icon into the login items screen
10. This will now put the ituneshelper app into the startup items.

After installing Mavericks iTunes 11.1.3 does not find my recent iTunes Library. Where did my current library go? The new iTunes opens a 2009 library on start up. My most recent library is ignored even when I go to it directly and start iTunes with it. In another thread someone suggested repairing permissions, I did that and it did not help. I ripped my entire CD collection over the summer (1000's of songs) and now they just don't exist...or I can't find them. They were there before I upgraded to Mavericks the other day. Now vanished. I have found no other issues with Mavericks (yet). Played the music last week; upgraded, now can't find my complete current library. If anyone has a clue as to what might be causing this I sure would like know. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Hi, sorry to hear you had this problem. Sometimes after updating iTunes the library appears blank because a new library (.itl) file has been created. Anyone else experiencing this issue may be able to resolve by following the steps outlined in TS1967. There is ofter a 'Previous iTunes Libraries' folder in the iTunes folder, by quitting iTunes entirely and replacing the currently named iTunes Library.itl file with the library file named by date in the Previous Libraries folder (should look something like 'iTunes Library 2011-08-03') and renaming to 'iTunes library.itl' and relaunching you should find the library looks the same as it did before updating (metadata intact).

Remote does not find my Itunes Library

I have 4 different mac and use Remote on my Ipod Touch to work with Itunes. Remote cannot connect to one of them (does not find the library). Settings (firewall, airport, account, permission, network...) on all my mac are similar but Remote does not work only with the MacBook Pro. Should I blame his airport card ? Or what ?

I've also version 4.0 on my Ipod and I've checked the port TCP 3689 and UDP 5353 (as asked by Apple support website), they are well opened. I spent too much time on this...I give up Remote.

If you are sure that you have sound in other apps - and if you can still hear keyboard clicks and get notifications, then system sounds are not muted. Try this and see if it works.
Close all apps completely and reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Did you get any help on this? From what I can see from surfing this site, it's a BUG that no one has offered a solution to. It sometimes happens after a 'reset' and going to ITunes does not offer a way to 'set up push notifications'.
