1) Quit iTunes
2) Move this folder to the desktop: username/Library/Cookies
3) Open iTunes
4) Turn Genius on

ITunes Match, problems to sincronize the Genius Mixes with my iPad and iPhone

It's pretty simple, meanwhile in iTunes of my Macbook Air (with iTunes Match activated) I can have the genius mixes that I wish, but in the music of my iPad and iPhone (with iTunes Match activated too), only I've got 4 mixes; I do not why and I've really tried everything, I mean, activate, deactivate, synchronize manually, etc. In spite of all I didn't get the genius mixes in my devices. ¿What is it the weirder? It's in the beginning all worked wonderful, I mean, when I activated for first time iTunes Match everything was OK, there wasn't any problem if I sincronized, but suddenly, one day stoped to make its work, ¿Can anybody help me? Ok, I see. Keep in mind that the Genius mixes in iTunes will not be exactly the same as the Genius mixes on your iOS devices. I don't know why this is, but I suspect it is because they are locally generated. So you simply may not get more than 4 mixes on your devices.
I think, though, the best trouble shooting step is to disable iTM on the devices, launch the Music app and let the content clear out, then re-enable the service on the devices. See if that gives you any better results.

I updated my ipod touch to ver3.1.1
but there do not have genius button next to playlist, artlists, songs....
i can't use geniues on my ipod touch....

It seems that the Genius Playlist can only be added to an iPod Touch when you sync all of your music or sync all music by selected playlists and select the Genius mix playlist. On the iPod Touch go to music, clike the more which should show the Mixes, click edit and drag the genius icon down to where the bar is that says, playlist, songs, artist etc. You do loose one of your selections since the bottom bar only holds 4 items and the more.
You must leave the ipod set with the sync music checed, if you dont' the ipod will re-sync and delete the mix.

[Help] itunes 9 genius mixes never show up

I just downloaded the new itunes 9. I love the geographic layout of the genius mixes and want to try it out. But it never show up. This is what I did.
1. enable the genius.
2. right click a song in my library and choose start genius.
3. after updating, a playlist with 25 songs show up, but the genius mixes don't.
I browsed the trouble shooting for this problem. Most of them can be solved by "store-> update genius" and "turn off genius and turn it back on". I tried both approaches and neither of them work for my situation.
Is there any way to solve this problem? I wonder what is wrong here.. Many thanks.

To make a Genius playlist, select a song in your library and click the genius button at the bottom of the iTunes window.
no error showed up. And I did create a playlist using Genius. But the Mixes didn't show up anyway..

1st gen showing genius mix covers for regular albums in cover flow

This problem recently happened. On my cover flow for albums, the covers for genius mixes are displayed for some albums, even though they have the correct album art in itunes. By genius mix covers i mean like the four squares with a different album in them. I don't understand. I already turned off genius thinking it had something to do with it but it's still happening. It started with only two albums but now it's spreading like a virus.

I have the same problem. The wrong art only shows up for me when I'm on the iPod in Cover Flow. On iTunes Cover Flow the artwork is right. I tried deleting the album art for one such album, but the Genius Mix album still shows up on the iPod Cover Flow. I disabled Genius, and it did not fix it. I'm now about to restore my iPod and re-sync it to see if that solves it.

Genius Mixes Not Working- On iTunes on Windows 7- 64 bit

I built my iTunes library from my entire collection- of over 10,000 songs (more than 64 gigabytes)- and all songs are organized through iTunes Media folder- all have the proper information required for identification, match etc. These include 90s songs, 60s songs- and the latest. All sorts of music is in there. But when I turn on Genius I get NOTHING- Nada- no genius mixes, and although genius is on, I get no Genius playlists when select any track and ask for a play list. Try the following steps:
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.

Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:

How do you get an Ipod Classic to make Genius mixes using the songs you want?

My Ipod Classic is now about four years old. it's the grey, 160gb model. the hard drive doesn't click, so it's in stable, working condition, as far as I can tell, but lately, I've been having a few problems with it. first and foremost, it's stubbornly refusing to make Genius Playlists for me, using the songs I want. Secondly, it's not playing some songs. now, the second issue isn't new, and I've fixed it before, but that brings me to my third issue.
when opening Klondikes (because that's the only game I play on my ipod out of the three that come with it) the other day, it gave me an error message stating "game cannot be opened because ipod is full" or something like that. I have 160 gigabytes of storage, and all I have on there is music.
anyway, back to the Genius problem.
So I'll tell the Ipod to make a new Genius Mix from a selected song. in this case, I'll use Alestorm's "Keelhauled" for example. I made an edit of the song, decreasing the tempo, and drawing out the length of the song to 4:20. every single time, the ipod will use that instead of the original.
Say I use "I See Fire" by Ed Sheeran (from The Hobbit, of course). the ipod uses the Kygo Remix I have.
Say I use "One Eight Zero" by Grendel. it uses the remix.
Say I use "The Sunk'n Norwegian", by Alestorm. the Ipod uses the Acoustic version.
Say I use "7 Days to the wolves", by Nightwish. it actually uses that song, and not the Instrumental version.
for "Whispers In The Dark", by Skillet, it doesn't use it, or the Instrumental version cause it can't find a match. (not a problem, just extraneous information.)
Say I use "We Can Make The World Stop" by The Glitch Mob. it uses a piano cover.
the trend I'm noticing here is that it only applies to songs with remixes. but as I have 1408 songs on my ipod, and need to be at work in an hour, I'm not going to look through everything to find every single instance of this.
the ID3 tags for these songs are correct.
Now, this is likely just a tagging issue, but the software should treat them as different songs. after all, most of them are stored in completely different blocks of memory. most of these are even different genres than the originals. and in the case of Keelhauled, because I exported the remix from Garageband, I'm listed as the Artist.
can someone please explain to me what's going on with my ipod, or give me some insight into what's going on under the hood?

A "classic" iPod is really a hard drive with a media player tacked on. Like any hard drive (including your computer's), it can develop data corruption. For example, maybe you mistakenly or accidentally disconnected it from the computer while it was syncing. Or you dropped it, while the iPod was trying to access its drive for song data. Or the hard drive can be getting worn out and unreliable.
The Restore will not fix the problem if the hard drive is becoming faulty. But if the data corruption was caused by something else, the Restore should fix it by erasing the hard drive to give it a "fresh start," like reformatting your computer's drive and reinstalling the OS.

How can I make a new genius mix? Apple has made two automatically, but I would like one based on other genres within my iTunes library. I have tried updating my genius mixes to no avail.

Hi. The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.

I have used genius mixes on my phone, but now that I have iTunes match I no longer see the controls for turning on the genius mixes for my phone. How do I do that?

Apparently this currently is not possible. Although the release notes of iOS 5.1 state that Genius Mixes should be available on iPhone and iPad, they simply don't show up. Here another thread concerning this problem: iOS 5.1 - Still No Genius Mixes

Can't get album view in genius mixes to work right

Hi - I'm not sure what is going on but I can't see the list or cover view while in Genius mixes. Also, some of the album covers are showing up and some not. But - I can't see what the mix is as the list won't show up and that makes the Genius mix not worth using if I can't even see what Itunes is selecting for me.
I tried looking in the view menu but no help.

You don't get list view or cover view with the mixes. You can always submit this as a request to Apple at:

Are you talking about in iTunes? When you select that individual song in the main "music" section and pull up "Get info", do you see the artwork in the artwork tab?
Or is it ok in iTunes and is the problem just on your mobile device? If so, which one.

You can pull it up in DJ if you want, and that gives you a glimpse of what's in there, but only a max of a 100 songs. But, frankly, it sounds like the lack of visibility into genius mixes are sufficiently annoying for you that you might want to consider not using it. Use plain old genius playlists (select song, hit , save it as a playlist): That behaves more like it sounds like you want.

ITunes 9 Genius Mixes (having issues)

I turned off Genius, turned it back on to get Genius Mixes and have not been able to actually play a Genius Mix yet! When I go to the Genius Mix icon and then try and select a Mix, I hit the Play button that appears in the middle of the 4 random cd cover artworks and nothing happens. Well, sometimes, the beach ball shows up and iTunes just stalls! What is going on here? Why doesn't music start playing? Has anyone else had this issue?

Same problem since update! Maddening. So where did you "check all files" ?
I can see the 12 mixes, some play right away and others do nothing or get the BBOD/force quit. I've got 2700+ items in my Music list so ought to be enough for some of these. How do you see what is in the mix, or can you?

How Can I Control (or Understand) Genius Mix Lists?

I am running iTunes 11. I decided to turn on Genius Mix (Menu--> Store--> Turn On Genius). This was fine. There was some information exchanged, some calculations done, etc. and an hour or so later I had a category under "Genius" of "Genius Mixes". There were twelves such mixes: Folk Rock Mix, Vocal Mix, Jaxx Mix, Classical Mix, Contemporary Folk Mix, Clssic Rock Mix, Electric Blues Mix, East Coast Rap Mix, Classic R&B Mix, Country Mix, Sountracks Mix and another Classic Rock Mix.
I did absolutely nothing to specify these categories and I have no idea how many songs are in each mix.I don't know if these are "canned" categories or if they are generated based on my content. I assume there are categories others have that i don't have.
Only by attempting to add one or more of these Genius Mixes to my iPhone have I been able to learn how big they are: Most are Gigabytes in size. Perhaps my entire music library has been tranched into these categories. I don't know. I have been unable to find any tools to show me a listing of the songs in the Genius Mixes other than using the "Next Up" drop down menu that is shown when I am playing a song from one of the mixes. Trying to employ that tool to learn anything about the lists would be just short of stupid.
I can make my own Genius lists by selecting a song and then limiting the size to 25, 50...etc. songs. I like these. But these huge "Genius Mixes" just seem silly. If anyone knows how to get them to display as lists so that we can see what's in them rather than "album cover quilts" that show four clustered album covers I would be most grateful (and embarrassed, as this would seem to be an obvious viewing option for me to maybe have overlooked). Either way, any bits o' wisdom or information most welcome.

As you have already seen, LabVIEW and VC++ running in their own process. The memory space is not shared between process.
What you need is Inter-Process Communication. Call Dll.vi alone is not going to slove your problem.
If you are a good C/C++ programmer, search MSDN site for Inter-Process Communication. There are a few choices.
You have to impliment one of those method in a dll, so you can call the dll in LabVIEW.

Genius Mixes are still not working

I'm still have trouble get the Genius mixes to work in iTunes I do have the 9.0.1 update

Interesting thing I just noticed.
I had problems with notifications earlier, as was already addressed in few other threads, and it was fixed with latest update. And what I didn't noticed at the time was that weather live tile stopped working, no refresh, today I reinstalled weather app, live tile is working again, but now Skype notifications are not working again.
Don't know if it is connected, but just mentioning if it could help, Right now I go to reinstall Skype in hope that notifications will work again.

Genius mix causes itunes to crash

Hello, was wondering if anyone can help me out with a problem am experiencing
everytime i run genius mix it crashes itunes 11.0.4.4, I am running xp sp3 on a dell D620
I am also running tuneup with itunes , but the crash happens even when tuneup is turned off
itunes store works fine no problems there. Reinstalling the OS is not an option for me.
I am not really sure about what other information might help, pls let me know if there is
any other information i can provide to make this easier to diagnose. Hopefully someone
else has experienced the same problem as me and has found a solution to it. Appreciate the
help ty

Can you run Update Genius?
This looks similar to my problem (see https://discussions.apple.com/message/22875572#22875572), I also have/had TuneUp installed though I found it didn't really affect anything since iTunes also crashes with the program cleanly removed.

Syncing Genius Mixes not supported?

Before turning on iTunes Match, I was able to sync Genius Mixes from within the device's MUSIC tab in iTunes. I cannot find this functionality anymore with iTunes Match. Am I missing something?

I've been having the same problem for quite some time and haven't been able to find a solution. I've space on my phone for all the genius mixes, but after several syncs, it unchecks everything except one genius playlist.
If I miss it on a sync, it takes 1-2 hours to recopy all the music back to my phone. If anyone can suggest a solution, I'd be grateful. And if I figure it out someday baefed, I'll post it here.
