Genius playlist for Newly Downloaded music....

So i love the genius function. i think it works great and have found tons of new songs that i have owned for years. but here is my problem so far and hopefully there is an easy explanation:
i download new music, for instance, U2's new album, and i want to do a Genius mix. i update my genius and wait for the results and then i try and do a Genius for the new U2 and it won't work. it hasn't updated for this artist and/or album.
same thing with new Keith Urban or Rascal Flatts.
Does it take time for iTunes to update the new music? will the new U2 be added into the Genius database soon? should i just wait? thanks if anyone knows anything!

I only THINK I know the answer to that. I've had no problems with my popular music collection. But when I try to make a classical music playlist, I have no success. I am continually updating Genius, but so far no luck. I have the same issue with jazz. I have a large jazz collection, and a respectable classical collection. I wish I knew if iTunes would eventually Genius itself to the point where it would make a playlist.
I think you're answering your own question. It probably takes time for Genius to 'learn' the appropriate information (metadata???) about the music.

Genius playlists for Tyler, The Creator songs

I would like to have accurate Genius mixes for Tyler's music. When I start a genius playlist for one of Tyler's songs I am expecting the genius to make a solid relative playlist, but when I make a genius playlist the songs are rock and alternative genre music and not rap. Anyone who knows Tyler, The Creator knows that he is hardcore rap, and the genius playlist is full of rock music, then randomly Tyler will show up. It doens't make sense and needs to be fixed!

That is weird. One thing to try is to run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions. This may seem completely unrelated, but doing this can fix bugs. Quit any open applications. Launch DU, it's in your Applications/Utilities folder. Select MacintoshHD 10.x.x in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab, then click Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished, reboot, launch iTunes and see if there's a difference.
You could also try deleting your iTunes preference file. Quit iTunes.
com.apple.iTunes.plist It's here: /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences.
Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
Launch iTunes. If iTunes functions as it should, drag that file back to the trash, empty the trash and reboot. It simply means your iTunes pref file was corrupted and your Mac will create a new pref file for you the next time you launch iTunes.

Paid for and downloaded music, but cannot play it?

I paid for and downloaded music from itunes store, but now I can't play it... HELP... I have authorized and reauthorized my computer, the songs are showing up in itunes, when I go to info on the songs I am having problems with it shows that I purchased them, other songs downloaded on the same day play w/o a problem. I try to play the songs and nothing, tried to burn them to CD and it won't...

I got a new laptop and downloaded iTunes, when I put new music on it for the first time, my entire music library disappeared, leaving me with only newly downloaded music in my library. My iPod still has all my old music.

Recently, I bought a new laptop (a Lenovo), so I downloaded iTunes to it. When I bought new music from iTunes for the first time on the new computer, I went to my music library and there was no music, except for the new songs I had just bought. I have no idea what happened, I've had hundreds of songs I've bought from iTunes or downloaded from bought CDs over the years, which are all still on my iPod (nano, from 2008), and suddenly they just didn't seem to exist. I have yet to access the iTunes account on my previous laptop to see if my music is still there, but I would assume yes. When I went to sync my iPod to my iTunes to at least get the new songs to the iPod (so that my complete library can be on at least one device), I realized that in order to sync my iPod to my iTunes, I would be deleting all my old music and replacing it with the new. So now, I only have a few new songs on my laptop's iTunes, and only my old songs on my iPod. In both cases I paid for all the music, so I don't want to just delete any of it. Is there any way to fix this?

Also-I tried to use my backup hard drive, but I wasn't able to drag/transfer/send/move any of my muic files onto my iTouch when the iTouch was connected to my computer. I can't figure out why it won't let me do that.
The only thing I can see when I open my iTouch on my computer is my file with photos. I can't see videos, music, or anything else. What's going on?

Genius Playlist Creation Causes iPhone music app to lock up

When I try to create a genius playlist from my iphone, the music app locks up. I have to shut the app down and restart. All my software is up to date. Any experience or advice?

This is what helped me (so far) on my iPhone 5 with the latest iOS 7..
On your device open the iTunes Store app and go to more > purchases > recent purchase and select one of the songs..
It should open the music player app with that song without crashing it.
After that, no crashing here.

How do I get iTunes to auto-create a folder for newly added music?

I used to add files into a new folder (literally named "New Folder"), play the songs from the folder (not iTunes), and iTunes would create a new folder appropriate for the artist and album, moving the songs to that new folder. Anyone know how to turn this feature on?

This feature is usually called "Watch Folders", and iTunes doesn't have anything like that.

Proper sync from newly downloaded music to my external drive

Hi to all you experts out there...
I have successfully followed article 301748 and consolidated all my existing music to my external HDD. However, it just occurred to me, if I start piling up music files in my iTunes on the computer again and I want to back it up (consolidate) to my external HDD again, will I have problem sync. them? Or does it mean I will have to create a different file name so I'll have two files of my music? Will I have problem viewing/playing the two files on my iTunes at the same time ? I'm a bit of organize freak, I would love to be able to see the two files merged and sort properly instead of one file at a time.

Hi,
If you followed Article 301748 to move your music to an external drive, then in iTunes Preferences you changed the location where your music is stored to the external drive.
Therefore, any new music that you add will be stored in that location, and not on your computer.

I have a large selection of jazz in my library. However, there is no genius playlists for jazz, but three different groupings for easy listening. Under what category would I locate the jazz tracks?

You need to create your own playlists for your Jazz music. Genius playlists are supposedly devised based on what you listen to from your library and may not categorize it as you expect. You may well find the music you listened to put into one or more of those easy listening groups especially if what you consider to be jazz is actually considered to be easy listening. For example, Kenny G is really easy listening/new age, but is often catalogued under Jazz. I find it much simpler to ignore using Genius and just create my own set of playlists from my all jazz library.

try putting it into DFU mode...
hold down the home and power buttons for 10 seconds
let go of power button, the screen should go black in 5seconds
plug ipod in... do restore

Genius playlist will not start after selecting songs

While listening to a song that I would like to create a Genius playlist for, I touch the Genius icon, then the Touch creates a list. But when the first song is over, the Touch continues playing wherever it was before instead of going to the next song on the newly created Genius playlist. This has just started happening since I upgraded to 3.1.2. Anyone have an idea why this is happening and what it might take to fix it?

Genius on iPhone only displays "This song doesn't have enough related songs to create a Genius Playlist"?

I have 30 days worth of music on my (128 GB) iPhone and it displays the message "This song doesn't have enough related songs to create a Genius Playlist" for even the most popular Beatles tracks. My iTunes library will create Genius playlists with no problem at all, but my phone will not. The only thing I can think of is that I updated Genius after actually putting the music on the phone, but I have turned Genius off/on again on the phone itself to encourage results to be reestablished and yet still nothing. I have also synched the iPhone multiple times since.
I really do not want to remove and re-add 12,000 (75 GB worth) songs from my iPhone just to get some valid Genius results. Does anyone have a solution?

It is like the message says. You do not have enough similar songs for Genius to work.

Genius Playlist Problems

I've been having this issue for a while and really want to find a way to fix it. When I create a Genius Playlist for a song and save it, the playlist is deleted whenever I sync with my home computer. It doesn't ask if I want to transfer the playlists, nor does the playlist appear in the list of playlists on my iPhone in iTunes. I have it set for me to manually transfer music and videos, but when I plug in, it doesn't give me any manual options, and the playlist is just gone if I transfer on any new music.
This wouldn't be a huge problem, but sometimes it makes awesome playlists that are gone and different the next time I try and make it, and I don't want to hit refresh ten times to get close to what I had before. Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes. When you plug your iPhone into iTunes, select it from the devices list on the left hand side. Now choose the music tab in the main window. There will be lists of genres, playlists, artists, albums etc with tick boxes next to them (from both your phone and your computer), tick the ones you want to sync and it will sync them, since you're only syncing playlists of items that are on both machines and not trying to get songs from the phone to the computer (assuming, of course, you are using your main music syncing computer...).

Can I move my external drive library in order to create a Genius playlist?

Our iTunes library is stored on an external hard drive, and the computer we use it with is a desktop G3 (stop laughing) running OSX 10.3.9 (OK, really, stop laughing) and the latest version of iTunes I can use with that, iTunes 7 (end of comedy routine). Of course, this is the wife's computer which she only uses for email & internet, so it hasn't been a problem so far.
I would like to create some Genius playlists for that library utilizing my laptop which has 10.5.6 and iTunes 8.0.2.
Is it possible for my to connect the hard drive to my laptop and access that library in my laptop's iTunes for the purpose of creating some Genius playlists that would then be available back on the G3? It would be sweet if this wouldn't affect the laptop's small library stored on it's internal hard drive and in the default iTunes directory as well.

I cant get my recently downloaded music from my phone to my laptop.

I cant get my newly downloaded music from my phone on to my laptop. It usually just does it automatically when it syncs, but it hasn't this time and i cant get it on there. I have even went on to file> transfer purchased items. All that does is transfer my apps and no music, any ideas would be great thanks!
