Genius screen won't close down on main app store screen

Have now turned off genius in App Store but despite clicking on 'done' it won't close down. Any suggestions as the App Store now cannot be accessed?

I just turned on Genius for Apps and am having the same problem; no matter how many times I touch close, the screen doesn't close.  Therefore, I cannot access the App Store.  Can anyone help with this?

Hold down Option  Command  Escape  at the same time, In the window that Appears  choose  Force Quit Safari...
Or you can click on the Apple Icon (top left) > Force Quit > Safari

2 GB of RAM is pretty tight. I imagine that's at the very low end of what Yosemite wants, which could slow things down.
As far as scroll direction, you can always change it in the trackpad settings. Unsure why it got flipped, but you can fix it in about 5 seconds. Choose "natural" (or don't) depending on how you like it.

  • Cannot use drop down menue of app store screen becoming blank

having problem to access drop down menue of app store i mean options under app store when selected the screen goes blank

same here...everything else works though (i.e. music, books, movies, tv shows, etc.)
However, if I search for a particular app by using the search field, the results show and I can then click on the result and access the app that way.
It's been like this for the past 2 days.

After updating my iPhone 4s to iOS 6.1, Verification Failed: "An SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made." My wifi connection works; the icon is present at the top left. But Internet apps won't connect, be it Safari, App Store or Facebook & instagram. Push notifications also work so posts from Facebook and Instagram still pop-up. Does any one have any ideas? Thanks.

I have the same problem.  Worked fine on Friday.  My VPN or any ssl site do not work on my iPhone 5.  Both work perfect on iPhone 4 and 4s

I'm no expert but try and click on the desktop behind the iPhoto window so that it says "Finder" in the upper left. Once you get that screen, the color wheel should go away. Click on the Apple and select - Force Quit. Select iPhoto from the list and it will force it to close.

  • Labview won't close down properly after installing Service Pack 2

    Hi,
We installed Service Pack 2 for Windows XP recently and ever since, I've had trouble closing down Labview. I'm using Labview 6.1 and whenever I try to close it down, it won't fully close down and I have to use Task Manager to shut it down.
What happens is that I get a minimised window on the bottom of the screen that won't go away.
Has anybody seen this before and can anybody help.
    Thanks,
    Kenneth

In my experience, SP2 for XP introduced a whole lot of bugs and mishaps. You would be better off uninstalling SP2 if you can. If you want to keep SP2, you may have to uninstall Labview, then re-install it.
I personally can't confirm this statement. I have XP SP2 with the latest patches applied and I have not really problems with LabVIEW 6.0, 6.1, 7.0, and 7.1. Only NI-Max likes to crash sometimes but since it is a notebook I have little reason to run NI-Max until now.

    Hello jdreed3,
The error message you are receiving is usually because of a failing hard drive. Can you go into the BIOS and run hard drive tests?
Here is a similar thread in regards to the same issue where the user discovered it was indeed the hard drive that has fried that has been giving him the issues.

  • Reader won't close down, running high CPU

Hello, I've recently updated to the Reader XI thinking that it may solve my problem, but it was happening with the previous version also.  After viewing pdf files and closing the files, Reader still continues to run in the background.  CPU usage runs at 50% and if I've open multiple files, CPU usage runs up to 100%.  My computer is slow, lags, gets hot and the fan continues to run.  The only way I can seem to close the program is through the task manager.  The application shows as AcroRd32.exe*32.  When I stop the application, my system resumes to normal and the fan stops once the computer has cooled down.  Can anyone help with a solution?  I'm also running Windows 7.  Thank you kindly.

I'm having the exact same problem as cmmcaw above -- and yes, I'm running Windows 7, too (and it's completely updated).  A few days ago, my computer slowed down to a crawl, the fan was running full blast, and the machine was getting hot.  The next time my computer was on, I scanned my system thoroughly, and there was no sign of malware.  The next time my computer's fan started churning, I opened up Task Manager and discovered that Adobe Reader X was not shutting down (and yes, my CPU was running at 100%).  I have now installed Adobe Reader XI in the hopes of fixing the problem.  It appears to work all right when I'm in my Administrator account, but when I'm in my User account, I encounter the same problem that I had with Adobe Reader X -- Adobe Reader just does not shut down properly.  Reader XI opens up just fine, and then it appears to close, but in reality Reader is actually running in the background, trying to fully close down.
In order to solve the problem, I tried to download the .zip file you suggested above, but it won't download (and that's on my Admin. account).  Adobe encounters some sort of error (it won't say what kind).  I tried downloading the file with my virus scanner turned off, but still no go.  Cleaned cookies, ensured they were enabled -- still no go.
So, why does Adobe XI seem to work okay on my Administrator account, but refuse to shut down properly on my User account?  And how do I fix this problem?  I mean, I can alway just shut it down fully through Task Manager, but it's not supposed to work that way.

I haven't had any trouble with iPhoto 5 until this week. Now the program refused to close down normally and even Force Quit is sometimes not able to do the job. Also, when editing photos, the Saving Changes bar comes on with its buddy, the spinning beachball and nothing happens. Force Close is then used. I have Repaired Permissions a couple of times, but no change. I have checked for software updates, but all is current.
I have AppleCare as a backup but wanted to canvass the community first.

Try rebuilding your iPhoto library. This is undocumented, but when starting up iPhoto hold down CMD-OPTION (i.e. ⌘⌥). When the dialog box comes up, select the option to rebuild your entire database; it's fast and safe.

  • Mavericks won't install, the button in App Store is blank and non-responsive.

This is extremely frustrating, and I have read every website trying to answer this issue. None of their problems match mine.
I tried to download Mavericks yesterday. It appeared to download as normal, with the icon in launch pad, but the progress bar never moved. I cancelled the download, and tried to restart it. The download button is non-responsive. I've tried going to the store tab, clicking unfinished downloads, and it says all downloads are complete.
When I go to purchases, Mavericks is listed under "other downloads," but the button is solid black with no text, e.g. download or install, and is non-responsive. Clicking the button does nothing.
I have tried using CCleaner to clean the app store's cache, restarting the computer with a full shutdown, quitting and restarting App Store, etc. Nothing works.
If I close and reopen App Store after a full shut down, Mavericks will disappear from the purchases menu. If I go to Mavericks, click "free upgrade," then button changes to "install." When I click install, nothing happens. Mavericks reappears under the purchases menu with its button, again, completely black with no text. The button is non-responsive.
Having a $2,500 Mac, I have to say that I am extraordinarily upset with the shoddy work of Apple over the past few years. For $2,500 I expect the product to work.

Actually, it appears to have started downloading, even the the purchases tab still doesn't reflect it.
Try what I did, typing "sudo nvram boot-args="-x"" (include the quotations around the -x), and then entering your account password.
Reboot the system, which will cause it to do a full reboot (you'll find your mac operates very slowly). Log into your account, then try hitting "free upgrade" and "download" from the Mavericks page in app store (not the purchases tab). It will ask you for your Apple ID and password, then it *should* automatically take you to launch pad.
If the download doesn't seem to be progressing, press the icon in launch pad to pause it. Exit launch pad and scroll down in App Store to 'free apps" on the right side. Click to download one of them, enter your password and Apple ID as usual, and see if it downloads. Once finished, hit the Mavericks icon again to unpause it. It should start then. It's clearly a very large install, so over the past thirty minuites the progress bar has moved roughly a milimeter.

  • Why won't my macbook pro's app store load?

Whenever I go to update my computer software and I go to the app store, it always has the spinning loading circle in the top left corner and it shows the logo in the middle. Even when I hit the updates button because it shows "1" above it, it does the same exact thing. This has been going on for several weeks, and my computer is running slower because I have not been able to get the new software update, due to the inaccessible app store.

Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
Sometimes the cause of the problem may be an outage in Apple's network, in which case none of the steps below will have any effect. You just have to wait for the outage to be fixed. That should rarely, if ever, take more than a few hours.
    Step 1
Sign in to the App Store by selecting Sign In from the Store menu. If you're already signed in, sign out and then sign in again.
    Step 2
Log out or restart the computer.
    Step 3
Remove or disable "LittleSnitch" or any similar third-party software that blocks outgoing network connections according to the developer's instructions.
    Step 4
Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode.)
    Step 5
If possible, connect to a different network and test.
    Step 6
There are reports that resetting the PRAM may solve the problem in some cases. I can't confirm.
