Genius without a store account?

I just got iTunes 8 today, and was excited with the concept of Genius, only to find that I need a credit card. Not only do I not have a credit card/paypal account, I have all my music on CD's, and have no desire to use iTunes store. Is there anyway to use Genius without getting a store account?

it will download 34 songs from itunes for free, just delete them if you don't want to keep them but you will have an itunes accound, which is also useful to d/l free apps from the app store for your iPhone/iTouch

We recently decided to start giving out iPhones at work on our company cell plan to employees.
Along with this, we're using one of the AppStore apps to do user tracking/maintenance on the phone, and I was curious if there was any way to make the Apple IDs/Appstore accounts without giving a credit card number to verify the account.
We don't want to have everyone use their own credit cards, nor do we want to use the company cards to register, in case someone gets crazy and starts buying paid apps.
Is there any way around this?

Is there a way to open an apple store account without adding card info?

I want to have an apple store account for 2 reasons only.
1. To download the art covers for my music
2. So iTunes stops asking me every 30 seconds 'do I want an iTunes account'
At the end of registering I realised that apple are asking for my card details. I can't seem to bypass this. Is there a way to create an account without adding my card details?
If not and I have to add my card details in. Can i just check - I only pay something if i download a piece of music, movie, game etc. and there are no other charges?

Hi,
You have to put a credit card. It is mandatory to verify in which country you're living and for Apple to validate in which Store your can buy music if you want to do so.
But if you never buy music, your credit card won't be charge at all. Don't worry about this.
You'll also be able to download the free song of the week, which is completly free each week. And for your cover art, it will not be a charge at all too.

How to make an iTunes store account for my child to use in the UK without a credit card

I want to give my child an iTunes store/Mac App Store account here in the United Kingdom but cannot proceed without entering a credit card section that asks for details. There was not an option for "NONE" in that screen. My child has a gift card, and she wants to use it, of course, and I will allow purchases to be made in this way.
I was following the instructions in a web browser screen (create an account on a computer http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534) and I could not find that free app that I had to download from the iTunes App section. When following these instructions, they stated to "To find a free application, navigate to the Top Charts column on the right side of the App Store window. Scroll down until you see the list of Free Apps. Select any application by clicking on it. Then, click Free App underneath the application icon. " (Step3).
The app is like a blue play button with a black triangle in it. I could not find this app. The instuction in Step 3 did state it was important, but I just could not find the app. The reason that I could not find it was there was no "Top Charts" column to be found. So I was unable to complete Step 3.
Being unable to complete Step 3 properly, I had to try another plan. So I tried to create an Apple ID on my own steam, by signing out of my own Apple ID and to create another one.
I continued to follow the instructions without problems, until I reached Step 11. Then, there was no option for "NONE" as in payment type. I could not think of an alternative, but to abort that screen and click CANCEL.
Can anybody help me in this ? Either how to get hold of that app from the iTunes Store App section. Or an alternative way to create a new Apple ID with an option to make purchases with just the redeeming of gift cards for the iTunes Store, so that my child can sign in by herself without me having to be there.
I have iTunes 10, and Mountain Lion on the Mac.

Furthermore: I use clickandbuy for the iTunes store so that I don't need a credit card.
But since i'm in Germany, I'm not sure what to do in the country you are in.

i want to set up an app store account without a credit card and it shows on the help site online an option to set up with none but on my phone it only shows visa mastercard and amex i already updated the software to the 5.0.1

i tried those steps on my phone before creating an account
i am still stuck with the 3 choices. i went so far as to create other accounts from scratch to get the choices. i did not even have itunes on the 2nd computer i tried on so would be hard to sign out of it

When I sign in with my Apple ID it says I did not have an account with the App store, but in order to create one it requires a credit card.
There is NO None option as some articles show when selecting a credit card.

ok this is my issue, i had an irish itunes store account which i was still able to use up this recently because my old credit card was still valid, but now i'm out in australia i have no need for that card but still need to be able to go between my irish account and oz one to be able to update my app's from home. i have also noticed the sky sports football app i had is now gone and can only be re downloaded with an account from accross the pond. i know there was a way to trick the store few years back with getting an account without putting a card on the policy but because i have my visa on for australia is there any way to get it to flick between the two without the trouble of having a card for the ire/uk store>?

It works for me as described (in the US store). Are you following the steps exactly as listed, and using a unique email address (i.e. one not already used for an Apple ID)?
If all else fails, you can enter in a credit card and then, once the account is set up, go back in and remove the credit card info.

You can only choose None for credit card if you switch to USA AppStore.
Just while registartion choose USA.

If None is not available - On your computer launch iTunes and click "iTunes Store" in the left navigation pane. Click the "down arrow" next to your name at the top right side of the page and click "Account." Enter your username and password and click "View Account" to log into your account information. Next to your Payment Type, click "Edit." Select the "None" button and click "Done." Confirm that your card has been removed by returning to the Apple account information screen. Under Payment Type, it should say that there is no credit card on file.
