Genres for Movies

I copied several movies into iTunes 8 but I am unable to set them to a Movie genre. I have set them as movies under the 'options' tab and there is a 'video' tab available but when I attempt to change the Genre it only gives me Music Genres instead of Movie Genres. How can I change these to Movie Genres?

I learned this by accident, however seems to be working very well for me. I select the Movies Bar under the library tab, then double click on the Genre with all my movies I want to fix the Genre on (in my case Unknown Genre). This brings up a long list of movies to edit. I right clicked on the second column (Between Artwork and Name) then selected "Get Info".
This brings up a dialog box where you can click on the info tab, and you will see Genre at the bottom of the dialog box. (This is a drop down list which you can edit) when you have fixed the one movie just click next and you can complete the remainder. 161 movies took me about an hour.

in my iTunes (version 10.6.3 (25) mountain lion) the genres listed are exclusively for songs, not for movies. How do I make movie genres appear? Or, alternativelly, how do I include my own genre? (like action, commedy, documentary, etc.)

Hi Antonio
Try clicking on Movies under Library in the left hand column. You should now see all your movies with information such as name , length year and genre - depending on the default view you have at present. To change views, click on any of the four boxes to the left of the search field in iTunes.
If genre isn't showing, right click on any of the headings (eg Name) and choose Genre from the drop down list. This will add a Genre column to your view. This works in any view other than grid view. With grid view, you will automatically have an option to choose sort by genre.

ITunes 11 - Get Info greyed out for movies on external drive

With iTunes 10, my itunes movies and TV shows grew to about 1.2TB of data, and I shifted them to an external drive.
I was able to edit the information via 'get info' until upgrading to iTunes 11.
Now all the information, bar the 'five stars' field are greyed out. If I shift a particular movie back to the internal drive, I can edit (genre, for example). Shift away again, get info greys out.
Any advice? It feels like iTunes thinks it has the wrong permissions.

When you add a movie to iTunes you have to make sure it makes a copy of the file in the iTunes Media folder. Otherwise, you can't edit any of the information on the movie or video.
In iTunes 12, go to Edit-->Preferences
In Preferences, go to Advanced and make sure the "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library".
Unfortunately, you will now have to re-import the movie files into iTunes using "Add File To Library..." Once imported, the movie will sometimes appear under "Home Movies" instead of "Movies" but if you right click on the movie file it will list a menu item called "Get Info" where you can change the "Options" to "Movie".

Using genres as Movie sub folders?

Is it possible to set up the "automatically add to itunes" watch folder to treat movies similar to tv shows / music?
So for example, when you copy over an episode of a tv show (and it is properly tagged) to the automatically add to itunes, itunes breaks it out by TV Show, then by season , then the episode itself. Same with music...Artist, then album then the song...which i really like.
But for movies it just creates another folder with the same name as the movie. I have my movies broken into 4 very generic genres...comedy, family, drama,action...which makes it a little bit more organized on my computer. So i was wondering if there is a way that iTunes automatically add to itunes can create the genre sub folder and then add the movie? (again assuming the file is properly tagged)
example...I copy and paste My Cousin Vinny in the automatically add to itunes and iTunes sees that it is a movie and has "comedy" as the genre and drop its into a the "Comedy" sub folder.
I get that this may be a long shot but i figured i would ask, or if others had a nice work around.

Thanks for the quick response...i tried add "Comedy" as an album but it doesnt seem to recognize that when its a movie ...is it possible for movies to have albums? (i know that sounds silly)

Can I create folders for movies in iTunes like playlists for music

I have a lot of TV series that I have ripped into ipad compatible format. I want to be able to put them into a folder like a playlist for movies so I don't have to scroll forever to find them. If I need to use genre how do I tag the movies so they get sorted?

Use MetaZ to tag the files as TV Shows and the correct series and all other info.

Field Selection error for movement type and G/L account

I am currently experiencing a field selection error between movement type 601 and G/L account 7140000. The problem field is 'Segment'. This field is set to required for the G/L account, but it is hidden for the movement type 601. This inconsistency causes an error when posting the goods movement. According to business requirement the field must be required for the G/L account, therefore we must make this field optional for the movement type.
However, in configuration the field segment does not appear for the movement type 601. Therefore it can not be changed to optional.
Does anyone know a workaround other than making this field optional for the G/L account because the business requirement is to have this field as required?????

On the Error message detail, system will guide you to the Configuration details for Field settings for Movement type & Account, please get in touch with your FI consultant, to make the Field selection for the account similr to that of your movement type, this is a very common issue.

Report with Reason for movement for GR

Hi,
I want to make a report to show the qty. of material recived in a particular period for GR ref. to PO we have reason for movement 1001 & for GR rwef. to prod. order we have 1002, so is there any transaction to see the material list ref. to reason for movement.
How to configure Move. type and trnsaction relation like which mov. type is allowed for a particular transaction.

Hide/Suppress Cost center field in MIGO and MB1A for movement types 551&552

Hi All,
Can anybody tell me how to suppress or hide the cost center field in MIGO or MB1A for movement types 551 and 552?
I did below settings and it worked fine for only MB1A and for MIGO still it is showing cost center field.
IMG > Materials Management > Inventory Management and Physical Inventory >Goods Issue/Transfer posting > Define screen layout > select movement type to change the option.
Also I did gothrough the settings for Enjoy transaction (MIGO) there we have only option to make fields either "Required entry" or "Optional entry" and we don't have an option to hide/suppress.
Please advise or help me .

The cost center field is a required field in mvt type 551 as you are scrapping materials, some cost center will need to take the cost of this operation.
Anyway, you first need to make the field as optional for example, before you move.
One option is that you create a screen variant in Tcode SHD0 for MB1A, where 551 is setup as constant (with content) , and mark Cost center as invisible and assign this screen variant to a transaction in SE93.

Purchasing additional languages for movies on Apple TV

We are a multilingual family, and are trying to promote the use of all our languages to our kids, French, Italian and English. We use the Apple Tv extensively, and I was wondering if there is an option to purchase aditional languages for movies on the Apple TV.
for example we purchase kids movies on the French itunes store and it includes both french and english languages, but not italian. However that same movies is available on the italian itunes store in italian. However since I have already purchased the movies i don't want to buy them all again on the italian itunes store. That would cost too much, but also we would have duplicates of our movies and in seperate itunes store accounts just to be able to watch them in different languages. This would be very inconvenient. In other cases, some movies on the french itunes store only have french as the language, however the english and italian languages are again available in the english and italian itunes store respectively.
The world is becoming ever more international and multilingual, and access to languages should not be so complicated. In fact Apple has always been a pioneer in offering all languages on their Mac OS and iOS, embracing the multilingual spirit.
IT would be extremely useful, if we could add aditional languages to an already purchased movie.

Is there a way to change the thumbnails for movies/videos?

This may be more of a Leopard question, but I'm wondering if there's a way to change the thumbnail that OSX and Front Row display of movie files. I think this feature is awesome but would love to have more control over it so I can pick a frame from the video that relevant to me. Imagine Front Row's menu for movies with a bunch of thumbnails that are title screens or your favorite scenes from your movie collection (rather than a random thumbnail that may or may not even be identifiable to that movie).
I've already included this request to Apple in a suggestion I sent along including a few other Front Row requests/suggestions I had including movie/video playlists, album art support over streaming/shared libraries, and music that doesn't stop playing when you return to the main menu.

It appears that "saving" doesn't impact the quality, but wraps the file up in the .mov format (size and quality appear to stay the same). It worked ("saving" instead of using the save as a reference movie seems to fix the starting playback from the poster-frame issue). However, now a new issue has come up... I like to save the files to DVD as the original .avi so they will play on our Philips DVD players. However, being wrapped up in .mov means I have to have two versions of the file, and if my HDD ever dies or fills up I'll have to always correct the poster frame, and save another copy from the .avi original. Kind of frustrating... I wish Front Row/Quick Time would let you easily change the thumbnail and not have to change the format, etc.

How to tell Front Row to look for movies on a USB drive?

I'm working on getting all my dvd's on two 500gb usb drives - using Handbrake to encode everything. This is much faster with a new 2.4ghz 24" iMac by the way (6-8hrs on my 1.8ghz athlon vs 1-2 with the iMac...woohoo).
What I'm trying to do is get the movies (on the usb drives) to show up in Front Row. One way I know of is by making an alias for each movie and moving the alias to my "Movies" folder on the main HD. This is a little tedious. When I simply drag and drop it in the "Movies" folder it just copies it and that is not what I want. Is there a way to just tell Front Row where to look for the movies? If I use iTunes the same thing happens, it just transfers all movies to the main HD...nevermind. I unchecked the box that said to copy everything.
The plan was on using iTunes for movies I encode specifically for iPods exclusively, searching through 600+ movies to get a few for the iPod doesn't seem user friendly.
So the question remains. Is there another way to get Front Row to just see the movies on another drive without iTunes or using an alias for each one or are those 2 my only choices?

I'm glad you got it figured out. Front Row actually looks for movie files in two places. First, as you've discovered, it looks inside your user's "Movies" folder. An alias there pointing to a different location will lead Front Row to the other location. Also, Front Row looks inside iTunes for movies. This way, it can find TV shows, music videos and movies purchased from the iTunes Music Store. Another option, besides making an alias in your "Movies" folder, would be to add the movies to iTunes.

after perusing other subjects with playback issues:
this is the fix:
-Launch Control Panel - Double click Quicktime, If you do not see quicktime, look on the top left side of control panel and switch to classic view. This will then allow you to see Quicktime.
-Now click the advanced tab and click on Safe Mode GDI Only, Apply, then ok.

Issue with Return Delivery for movement type 262

Hi,
I have got a strange issue, the user is trying to do a MIGO Return Delivery for a material document using movement type 262, this he claims has been doing it for many materials. However when i go to the MKPF table i see the transaction Code field to be MIGO_GI for all the material documents for which he claims to have done return delivery. But under this transaction code we have only 4 options - Display, Issue, Cancel and Remove from storage.
Now when he tries to do the return delivery for movement type 262 he get an error message "Check table T156N: entry RL 262 does not exist" , but this has been very well maintained in the table.
Can you please let me know -
If it is possible to do a return delivery for a movement type 262?
If yes how to address the above error encountered.

Hi Sachin,
If you think of return delivery to vendor with or w/o PO reference you can use movement types 161, 122, 124 as default settings.
Movement type 261 means withdrawal against production order and its reverse is MVT 262. The latter can be used e.g. via MB1A (or you can make storno of a confirmation by 261).
Are you sure your user is using the correct terminology ('return delivery')? Please check the material documents he/she claims to have booked as return delivery. (in MB51 you can get a list of all material movements of MVT 261 that belong to 'your user' and after that you can open the material document and check through which transaction the booking was made.)

here is the error Account 353300 requires an assignment to a CO object.
I know for this if we add the co object in OKB9 it works.
But my question is - how it works in MIGO transaction but throws an error in MB1C
Any idea ? has any one faced this kind of an issue ? Please let me know.

Are the entires same in both the transactions? Means did you check 353300 GL was hit when you posted through MIGO?
Check in FS00 - for GL account 353300 - under bank/interest tab - double click on field status variant -> under Additional account assignments - CO object is ticked as mandatory?

HUMO-A reason has to be entered for movement type 344

Hi All,
We currently have the system configured to enter a 'reason for movement' for movement type 344 and this field is marked as required in the movement type configuration. We have configures the transactions allowed for the movement type and HUMO is one of them.
When I try to post the same HU using the path 'Edit-> Change HU Posting-> Other Postings->Process-> Transfer posting unrestriced to blocked', it prompts me for a 'Reason for Movt' and allows me to post it to a blocked stock.
However, when we try to post an HU to blocked to stock using the path in HU monitor 'Edit-> Change HU Posting->In Blocked Stock', the system gives an error 'A reason has to be entered for movement type 344'. Please note, it does not even prompt me to enter a reason for the movement.
Is there a configuration node to have the above error corrected? Or is there any SAP note which could help us solve the problem? We are aware of the SAP note 1679167 for transaction VLMOVE but not sure the same would actually correct the issue for HUMO. Any help in this regard is appreciated.

during debugging, there is no GUI code to ask user for a reason. So it's a lack of functionality.
I think you can add this by an implicit enhancement around FORM transfer_posting_hu asking user e.g. with function module call POPUP_GET_VALUES_DB_CHECKED.
But transfering the entered reason down to the MM posting seems also not so easy because reason field "GRUND" may not visible in that callstack level.
