Gensplashutils removed from [community], initscripts-gensplash is next

gensplashutils has been removed from [community] and is replaced by the gensplash package. initscripts-gensplash will also be removed shortly . The initscripts packages, for safety reasons, will not auto-replace so this must be done manually. I suggest that this is done as a single action and that you make copies of rc.conf , rc.local and rc.local.shutdown before the upgrade:
cp /etc/rc.conf /etc/rc.conf.bak
cp /etc/rc.local /etc/rc.local.bak
cp /etc/rc.local.shutdown /etc/rc.local.shutdown.bak
pacman -R initscripts-gensplash
pacman -S initscripts-splash
You should then restore all of pacman's file backups immediately. Keep your manual file backups as they are, just in case you mess up!
Please upgrade as soon as possible.

Return files that were manually removed from taskbar Jump Lists

On the jump list for Microsoft Word, on Windows 7, how can I make documents that I manually removed from the list come back? I right-clicked on the file and pressed "remove from this list" on accident - I was trying to pin it. Now I can't seem
to get it back. Any solutions?

I would like to suggest you reset the Jump Lists to fix the issue. (Please Note: This will reset them all to be empty)
1 - Copy this entire next line:
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations
2 - Click Start, then paste it into the Search box and hit enter.
3 - Delete all the files in that folder. As a best practice, just send them to your recycle bin so that you can restore them if you need to.
4 - Try pinning an item again.

I think I could repro this issue. For the Ignore attribute, it would share us this warning message by design when we run it in MsTest.exe.

Delete mail from server after removed from IN BOX

I have a mail management issue I have not been able to fully solve.
I am balancing the same POP email accounts among the laptop using Mail (for home use) and my desktop using Eudora Pro (for work). Using Eudora, I can manually select to delete a message from the server. Eudora's manual deletions are flawless. Using Mail, the only option I can see that will help me do this is to select delete mail "When moved from In Box." If I hit the "delete" key, wouldn't that be the same as "moving if from the IN BOX?" When is the protocol actually carried out? On the next mail check? Immediately? Upon quitting and restarting Mail? I'm confused as to how this happens and why it does not seem to work all of the time.

Yes, deleting a message counts as moving it out of
the inbox. The commands to remove the message from
the server are sent the next time you check mail from
that server, but only if there are new messages to be
received from the server. Yes, many of us feel that
is a bug in Mail, that it should send the remove from
server commands the next time you check mail, whether
or not there are new messages to be downloaded.
Oh Gawd, I bet that's it. Yes, if that is the case, I would agree. It does not lead to efficient mail management if there needs to be a new message there. Do you know of any plans to change or alter that? Or has someone written an AppleScript of some kind to execute the command regardless?
It's a great command, otherwise. It's nice to be able to delete a message off of one computer and have it delete off of the server without any extra hassle.
Just wondering if there are any workarounds out there other than sending oneself a new message to get the delete from server command to activate.

Delete emails from server when removed from phone inbox

I want my server (Verizon Yahoo) to trash and delete messages when I trash or delete them on my 5s. I have gone into my Verizon account on the phone, made sure Trash was selected rather than Archive, selected "Delete from server..."when removed from inbox"", restarted, etc. Everything else works in the account, and when I delete on the server, it is deleted on the phone. I want emails to delete from the server when I remove them from the phone's inbox. Supposed to happen, but doesn't.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't very clear, I guess. What I want to do is Trash or Trash>Delete emails on my iPhone 5s and have them go away from the inbox on my Verizon/Yahoo server. That does not happen now, even though I have set the setting on my phone to do so. All the stuff in my inbox on the server reappears the next time my phone inquires, including the emails I've sent to Trash (on the phone) and those I've Trash>Deleted there. Not too worried about permanent, real, NSA-type deletion, because that just isn't going to happen - I am worried about the poor agent at NSA who has to read my boring, mundane emails, though. I just don't want to see stuff I've Deleted from my phone's inbox come back to the inbox. Zombiemail!

It's official: server behaviors to be removed from DW

Adobe has finally confirmed what I suspected would happen: server behaviors will be removed from the next version of Dreamweaver. They will still be available to install as an extension, but will no longer be part of the core program.

There is no information regarding plans to develop a replacement for the server behaviors in a future version. I genuinely have no idea whether a replacement for the server behaviors is on the cards.

Actually, after looking into this computer I think maybe I would be best to take it to an Apple repair center. I don't want to break something. I thought maybe if it was just an easy small battery install, I could do it. I don't see where another battery can go.

AntiXSS removed from GAC?

I have code that MSOCAF required us to use the AntiXSS library. It was added and the package was updated to deploy the AntiXSS.dll to the GAC. Once the DLL is in the GAC, I remove the original reference and update the reference to the AntiXSS to the one
in the GAC.
When I run the update-spsolution however, the AntiXSS.dll is removed from the GAC (even though I've removed the original path in the package and the reference is pointing to the one in the GAC).
How do I force this DLL to stay in the GAC and never get removed from the update-spsolution process?

Previously deleted messages are re-downloaded, not removed from server??

I have a POP email account that I access from my iMac using Mail. I regularly delete mail from my inbox in Mail, so there are only a few hundred messages in the inbox. But the other day I logged onto my mail account via the web and discovered thousands of my previously deleted messages still in my inbox on the server. I opened Mail Preferences and discovered that the checkbox "Remove mail from Server ... when I move it from my inbox" was not checked, so I checked that box. However, I figured that would only cause future messages that are removed form my inbox to be removed from the server, but would not do anything about the thousands of previously deleted messages that were still on the server. So I also clicked the button labeled "Remove Now". I figured that would cause Mail to tell the server to remove all the old messages on the server that had previously been removed from the local Mail inbox.
The next day I discovered that thousands of old messages I had already deleted (many of them long ago) had mysteriously reappeared in my Mail inbox. And of course, checking the account via the web, I discovered they were still on the server too. What did I do wrong? I thought Mail would tell the server to delete all those old messages. Instead it seems to have told the server to download them all to my Mail inbox again, the exact opposite of what I intended. I don't know if this is a disconnect between the Mac Mail client and the mail server, or if I misunderstood the purpose of these options in the Mail preferences dialog.

I have never tried this exact action, but I think the Remove Now will not do much, with When Moved from the Inbox. This would require the action of removing the message, after this setting has been changed. I don't think it would remove any previously moved from the Inbox, because no check to correlate the current contents of Inbox to a POP account.
Does this make sense, to you?
However, there would appear to be some corruption in the file to prevent duplicate downloads, or messages previously downloaded.
In Mail 2.x, Apple introduced a way to look a the server, of even POP accounts. To do this, control-click on any inbox or any mailbox, and choose Get Info. Once the dialogue window is presented, and if you have more than one account, choose the account, and you can not observe the server contents, but also choose and delete individual messages.
Keep us posted about future behavior.

Remove from Main Window

Hi all,
I'm having some trouble removing text from labels in my main window.
I have a main window which has a JMenuBar. On the MenuBar I have a options > file> Remove Menu Item.
When I select the Remove Menu Item, a Remove Dialog opens up with a JList and a Remove button.
The JList is populated by a column (queueName) from my table "testtable".
When I select a particular entry from the Jlist and click "Remove" the entry is removed from the list and my database but not from my main window.
How can i go about removing entry from my main window??

Removed from forum

All of my previous pleas for help have been removed from this forum as a punishment for trying to get help.
I have escalated the failures of this forum, and the Corporate Service team are now trying to make some sense of it all.
If you want help surf the net and get a Director or CEO involved, this lot will leave you loosing the will to live!!
I can't give details for fear of further punishment. Does this remind you of anything? 1984 perhaps!!

Thanks for your comments chaps, you are quite right. But the chap who took me off does not accept replies, hence the post.
As for the details, they have had the details several times. If you put details such as fault numbers or reference numbers you will get an email telling you not to as they want to hide the real problems. The system is 'Broke', either by bad management or design!
Still no phone though and still unbelievably frustrating to obtain any meaningful communication with this lot. Apparently 5th of Jan to now 30th Jan is acceptable service? Oh and if I do not hear from them in 14 days I am allowed to remind them that the fault has not been repaired, wow what a privilege.
It is strange that their Headquarters will give a contact name, number and email address but Customer services will not!!

Items removed from the Stores

SCENARIO:
- I buy a movie on my AppleTv. After watching it I don't archive a copy of the movie on any of my devices.
- After some time that movie is removed from the iTunesStore.
What happens next? Will I be still able to download the purchased movies also if it's removed from the iTunesStore?

There is an issue with BBC iPlayer software update which has buggered up the box
It isnt very stable at all, it's all well and good having iPlayer but if it doesnt work properly I want the new version fixed or the old software back and lose access to BBC iPlayer.
Nothing wrong with the QoS at all- I have had to factory rebuild the software 5 times since the iPlayer update on Thursday morning, box keeps locking up and if you rewind/ ffw anything on demand you get VO4- wasnt an issue before the iPlayer release.
The box is about the same speed as the antiquated Scientific Atlantic V+ HD Box which is slow...

Images removed from Aperture 2010

1. On the hard drive upon which my vaults are stored, getting a directory called "Images removed from Aperture [name of vault]." Any ideas please as I've only just noticed these on a pretty organised system.
2. My Aperture has always been slow, crashes several times a day even though it was bought new in Jan 2010 and is just back from the Genius bar and still doing the same. Any ideas?
3. One of my largest libraries will no longer open. It was going through a repair and became stuck for a day so I closed it. Since then Aperture will no longer open via clicking on it in the Finder. It does have a vault (I'm guessing 95% up to date) associated with it, but I'm not sure if I should now go to the next step and open the Vault and restore from there (or however I do it).
4. How best to organise my libraries, eg have one for every month (take huge number of images of my boys and client shoots) or have one per year with projects of months within. I have then albums for the events under those months. I don't (yet) use Folders as haven't found a use for that extra level or organisation, but should I?
5. Is it ok to copy the contents of Show Package contents and use that to make an additional copy. I'd read that I could Show Package contents, then select all with "." a period, then select Kind.. Images and then just copy the contents to another directory. I'm thinking of this route given my unreliability of Aperture, original the trial then used the serial number to upgrade beyond trial.
6. Should I reinstall Aperture using the serial number or by disk? Haven't done that before, as it was an internet download.

By Aperture you mean your computer system? Without more information it would be difficult to answer this. What did Apple say when you brought it in?
If you got Aperture in Jan 2010 you started with version 2 correct? What version are you running now?

Large libraries can take over a day to do repairs or updates. It's tough to wait but most times that's the best course of action. Have you tried to repair it again? If you can;t open it or repair it and you have a vault for it you might as well restore it. That's what the vault is for. If you decide to restore and have questions post back.

This is a huge topic and best addressed in a separate post. There are plenty of resources covering this topic both in this discussion group, in the Aperture users manual and on the web. Familiarize yourself with them and than post back with specific questions.

What your describing doesn't make sense from a systems standpoint. The most it would do, if it worked, is get out your image files and previews but in no way that Aperture could use unless you imported them. Even if it worked you would lose all your adjustments, keywords etc.
It's never a good idea to go into the Aperture library at the package level. The smallest misstep can have bad outcomes. If you ever need to copy the library you just need to drag the .aplibrary file.

As long as you have the serial number you can install from either.
