Genuine Lenovo battery - not

I just purchased a battery for my X200S from notebook-laptop-accessories co uk, advertised as a 'genuine Lenovo' item (there's even a picture of a Lenovo-branded battery on the page). When it arrived, it was just an aftermarket battery as you can find on eBay for less than half the price. Thankfully due to a PayPal glitch my payment didn't go through, so I'm not out of pocket (they're welcome to pay me the postal costs to return it!), but I thought other users might appreciate the warning.

thanks for the feedback.

  • Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached, Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga

I am having a message that says "Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached" message that appears after Windows 8.1 starts up. A similar sort of message appears before even Windows boots up, and I need to press the 'Esc' key in order for Windows to boot. This seems to have happened after a recent Windows update. I have uninstalled an reinstalled the Lenovo Power Management Driver but it does not appear to have fixed the issue. My BIOS is the latest version.
This issue is on my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1.
    Any assistance is appreciated.

  • X200 brand new battery: "Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached"?

    Hi,
I got a new 9-cell x200 battery from lenovo literally a few hours ago, and upon plugging it in Power Manager gives me the dang "Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached" message... despite the battery being ordered directly from Lenovo! I've noticed that the cells in this battery are Panasonics instead of the Sanyos I got in my 6-cell included with my x200.
Why is it giving me this message, and how do I disable it (without getting rid of Power Manager)?
(To be honest, I'm more interested in the first question )

  • Power Manager Guage: Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached

I have a T60p Thinkpad  (WinXP) with a non-genuine Lenovo Battery.  Several times a session, a warning balloon pops up from the system tray Power Manager Guage that reads "Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached".  There is no way to close the balloon and if I try, it takes control of my browser and tries to sell me a battery.  Very heavy-handed marketing.
Is there any way to disable this ballon, even getting into the registry?  I cannot buy a new battery and the ballon is quite distracting!
    Thank you

I just got an aftermarket battery, which I have no choice about because that is
our office supplier.  It is one thing to warn me ONCE about a possibly inferior
accessory.  IT IS ENTIRELY ANOTHER MATTER TO NAG ME CONSTANTLY ABOUT IT.
So  I have to choose between beging nagged by the "not a genuine Lenovo
battery" message all the time, or disabling all battery charge control by exitting the application.
Thanks a lot Lenovo.  Everyone else in the office has already gone to other brands.
If this is the way Lenovo treats their customers, then this is the last Thinkpad I will ever
    buy too.

  • Power Manager : Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached

I refuse to pay the bloated price Lenovo charge for their 'genuine' Lenovo battery and bought a long-life one for less than half the Lenovo price. However I keep getting that annoying message popping up and i bascially have to click the pop up to see a website to then shut it down. Invaiably the message will repeat several times and just , well , 'do my nut in'.
there is a similar thread in the T60 section but the fix there entails an XP element which i tried but it wont work in Vista..anyone any idea how to disable this dumb warning?
I'll take my chances if the battery goes boom....

the only way to disable it is to uninstall the ThinkPad Power Manager software.

if your battery does go boom then the cost savings won't seem so great.   almost every battery explosion i've seen (all of which were non-genuine batteries) completely destroyed the notebook.
lenovo batteries have monitoring/failsafe electronics built in.   third-party batteries do not have this.   third-party batteries also wear out much more quickly than a genuine as they use cheap cells.   unfortunately, there's no such thing as an inexpensive long-life battery.

  • Ignore "Not a genuine Lenovo Battery"

Ok, everytime my computer comes back from sleep, I get the message "This battery is not a Genuine Lenovo Batter"
    here's the thing: I really don't care.
This message is really starting to get on my nerves because when I click on it, it doesn't go away.
Also the battery guage refuses to get the correct percent on the battery. Right now, i have it plugged in, and it's telling me a) that its on battery power, and b) its only at 71%.
Now it updates ONCE every time i log in from sleep mode. but thats it. it doesnt update when I'm off AC power so I dont know when my battery is going to die.
is there ANY other power manager or something i can do to stop this message and make the ThinkVantage power manager recognize the battery?
EDIT: Or do i need to install drivers for this manufacturer's battery?

If the battery is a genuine Lenovo battery, updating the battery management software should get rid of this.

  • Battery not installed

    Hi,
    I've got a T60 that's almost 2 years old.
Just recently I noticed the PowerManager Gauge occasionally turn grey while connected to the power supply, showing the message "Battery not installed." A few minutes later gauge will turn green again and display the battery charge.
Is it likely to be a bad connection to the battery? It's a genuine Lenovo battery that runs still lasts a good few hours when running off the battery.
Has anyone experienced similar problems, or know of any tools I can use to test the problem?
    Thanks!

I'm just getting this problem too - any luck with you chaps in fixing it? Battery seems to function fine, just the monitoring that is gubbed.

  • Brand new T410 shows battery not authentic message?

    Hi everyone,
I just received a T410 that I ordered from the Lenovo website and noticed that the Lenovo Power Manager is showing the following error message on the taskbar:
"The battery installed in this computer is not a genuine Lenovo battery and may not meet Lenovo's safety and quality standards. Double click to learn abut genuine Lenovo batteries."
The alert for this message is always being displayed on the taskbar right beside the battery meter making it quite annoying. I just received my laptop from Lenovo so am confused as to why I would be having this issue.
Has anyone else gotten this message before and if yes, do you know how to fix it? Also is it possible that I could have received a defective or else non-authentic battery from Lenovo that would be causing this issue?
The battery model # that power manager shows is : 42T4801
It should be the 9cell, LI Battery TWSL battery.
I didn't see it listed in the list of batteries that double-clicking the message takes me to.
My computer model is ThinkPad T410 2516-CTO with Integrated graphics and the i7 620M processor.
Any ideas in regards to resolving this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Your new T410 may not have the latest BIOS that fixes this issue:

  • W530 intermittent battery not installed

OK, I purchased my W530 to replace a 2 yr old Sony Vaio.  I bought the 530 because it had Win7 pro and enough power to run Solidworks.  From the day I received it, I thought it was faulty because the battery would not be "recognized".  Message and icons say "battery not installed".  I HAD to go on a biz trip to Asia that week, so I had no time to send back to the NewEgg reseller.  I lived with the machine simply plugged in all the time.
I once , while plugged in and booted up, turned the laptop over, and uncoupled the battery, then snapped it back in.  Turned the unit back over and wow, the battery was recognized and showing full charge.  Great!  I could even unplug the AC, and the battery worked fine.
Next day,  tried to boot from battery, and nothing.  So back onto the AC, and boots fine. Battery lcon grayed out, with "battery not installed" in the mouseover popup.  Tried my "trick" once more, but this time nope.
One note:  the battery unit, 70++, does "jiggle" a bit when snapped into the W530.  Not a lot.  It's locked in and can't fall out, but it can slide out about  .015 to .020 inch.
Anyone else have this problem with W530?   Other than the battery issue,  I really do like this unit, fast, handles Solidworks rendering well,  and like the features so far.

No, it's completely intermittent.  Plus with only a slight bit of wiggle,  not sure how to "hold" it in place.  I did try shimming with 6 post-it notes, just to one side or the other.  No change.   Now getting BSOD's with a message saying something about display driver and timeouts,  then it'll do a "dump"  and reset, so I can only guess at what it says is the cause of the BSOD.
Just sitting on my desktop,  the battery chaged and recognized at 100% (green),  and later it'll show a white colored battery icon with a red x in the middle of it.  Sometimes I get a message saying it's not a genuine Lenovo battery.  Sometimes I get a message that says it's not recognized.
Nice laptop.  But I'm wondering if through NewEgg I actually bought  what we who travel much to China call,  a "Tribute" version of theW530.  In other words,  Looks like a Lenovo,  feels like a Lenovo, but is actually a copy....I can deal with the battery acting funny, although for the price I paid I shouldn't have to deal,  but the BSOD's are really causing me some worry.
    Thanks for asking

After charging the replacement battery overnight, the battery gauge never went above showing 24% charged.  I unplugged the AC adapter and it went from 24% to its current level of 5% in about 15 minutes.  After plugging the AC adapter back into the computer, the battery will not charge.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It is hard to be sure without seeing it, but best guess is that the battery charging circuitry on the motherboard has died. If you still have remaing warranty, now is the time to use it.

  • Lenovo G710 Battery not detected in Windows 8.1 64 bit

    Hi there,
I have the Lenovo G710. I haven't used the battery for a while now and  I use the laptop by connecting the powerlead directly to mains power outlet.  I decided today to plug the battery in. The battery indicator lights up.
Windows 8.1 does not detect the battery and it states "No Battery Detected".
    What i have tried:
I have installed all the latest Windows Updates and it still doesnt detect the battery.
I even installed the latest chipset drivers for this laptop and it still doesnt detect it. The only update i cannot install is the BIOS update because it states that "Battery Not Detected".
I uninstalled the following from Device Manager: Microsoft ACPI compliant Control Method Battery. Switched off the laptopRemoved the battery packRemoved the AC power lead from the laptopHeld the power button for 30 seconds to drain the batteryReconnect the battery packReconnect the AC power leadTurn the laptop on.Battery not detected.

  • Windows 10 Lenovo Settings not detecting battery in Edge 15

Upgraded to Windows 10 on July 30th. No problems. My battery was showing up in conservation mode at 60% and not charging (I always use laptop plugged in). This was the setting in Windows 8.1 and still in Windows 10.  All okay until tonight.
Tonight my battery is showing 100% charged and it's no longer in conservation mode. I opened the new Lenovo Settings for Windows 10 and clicked on Power. It is showing “No Battery Installed.” I unplugged the laptop and it is running just fine on the battery.  I want to put it back in conservation mode but I cannot because Windows 10 Lenovo Settings isn’t detecting the battery even though it is working fine. This article explains what I should be seeing: http://www.improdia.com/tech-tips/lenovo-battery-conservation-windows-10/, I don’t know how to solve this problem and would appreciate any help. Thanks.

    Hi Chaka,
    Welcome to Sony Community!
Have you watched those local Canadian TV online before upgrading the operating system? This is probably one of the issues of Windows 10 but I cannot confirm that yet since Sony is still testing Vaio computer and updating the drivers and software for Windows 10.
You may try to use a different computer and check if you'll get the same result. If the same then probably the issue is with the website itself.
You may also run Vaio update and Windows update then try to change again the region.
    Regards,

Hi, can anybody recommend where I could buy a genuine x201 battery (besides Lenovo)?
Its becoming a problem trying to suss out the genuine from the replacement models.

I don't see how a 3rd party website can sell genuine batteries if they are not from Lenovo shop directly. Unless its those OEM type batteries which you are looking for or refurbished.
