Geocaching Live Nokia E7-00 Belle

Since Belle I can't install my favorite geocaching Java App. Nokia E7-00 Belle
On Anna it was not a problem.
When I try to install it I get an internal error "java.lang.SecurityException: METS_INF/LIVE.SF  has invalid digest for v.class in E:\Installs\GeocachingLive.jar"
This is the app: http://live.geocaching.com/dl/GeocachingLive.jar

Hi diggerholeKJ,
Welcome to the Nokia Forums!
Have you tried downloading the beta on the site you gave and see if the Geocaching works?
As Belle is an update and a different platform to Anna, certain applications may have not been updated to work along side Belle. IF problems still persist, we recommend you to contact the developers to see where they are with updating the application.

Can you remember what error message was in more detail? Was it "cannot authenticate the phone" or something different? Have had no issues using Windows 7 & 8 Pro 64 bit to update devices using this application.

i want to change my symbian nokia 5230 to belle i want to try something new

    Hi kunal12345,
    Welcome to the Forum.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to upgrade your 5230 with Symbian Belle.  Only the Symbian ^3 can be updated with Symbian Belle and your phone being a S60 it's not possible.

  • Geocaching on nokia C7

I am looking for an application for geocaching on my C7. An application that can grab cache descriptions directly from geocaching.com would be great. I tried installing Geocache Navigator, but this application is currently unavailable for C7 for a reason I don't know...

Have you tried Geocaching Live which installs on N8 so should be similar on C7 from here:http://live.geocaching.com/guide/index.php although you will probably need Option 2 = unsigned version of 1

  • My Nokia E7-00 Belle update - the good, the bad, a...

Late last night I installed Belle on my E7-00 Anna.  It was a completely hands-off install using the USB cable connected to my PC.  It took about 15 minutes with multiple restarts of the phone all done by the software update.
I have a 12MB Internet connection (or so my service provider claims) and a UPS backup to reduce the chance of failure due to a poor Internet connection or untimely power outage.
The update was uneventful and the update software did perform a backup before the actual update began.  I did do a backup myself of the Anna install before doing the Belle update.
Although I am technically very experienced and competent with Windows based computer hardware and software,  I don't consider myself particularly knowledgeable in cell phone technology.  So I was glad to see the update go smoothly.
However, all was not peaches and cream after the update completed.  Once I started to use the phone I found that many, though not all, of additional application I had downloaded under Anna were no longer on the phone.  Also, many settings were gone as well such as my WLAN settings, and later I found all my Favorites gone.
I spent a couple of hours going through all the menus reorganizing the interface and the various options to get the phone in what I consider to be a usable state.  These things are made so that one can optimize to suit ones needs and I take advantage of that.
I'm disappointed that I had to spend so much time and effort doing this (actually redoing what had been done in Anna) and feel that the update should have, and could have, kept many of my settings.  I understand that the new widgets and home screens meant a re-jigging of those things but, for example, why did I have to re-enter all the WLAN settings required to connect to my home router, including a very long security string? More below.
I am glad that I did the update in spite of all the time and trouble to get everything working again and to suit my personal preferences.  I suspect a lot of users who have less experience than I in these things will be seeking help to get all their phone features working again.
Perhaps it would be useful to explain how I use my phone.  This is my 6th or 7th cell phone and I'm on my second cell service provider (about 8 years).  I have had cell phones continuously ever since they were small enough to carry on one's belt.
I am not a power user.  I use the camera occasionally for recording information.  I don't download music for listening but occasionally listen to music from the Internet via WLAN.  I have not sent more than about a dozen text message in my life, though I have unlimited texting in my cell service package.
I use my cell phone mostly for business calls.  I do not have any data service from my service provider.  I tried the data service for about 3 months but found that I used it very little.  I don't have a Twitter account (thinking about it) nor a Facebook account (and not thinking about it) so other than the rare instance to search the Internet for some information (when not near my own WLAN connection) I found little use for it.  Data service here in Canada is one of the most expensive of any country (or so I have seen reported on the Internet).  So I decided to save the money.
I do all of my email at my office or at home on desktop PCs with big screens and full size keyboards.  Occasionally I connect to my home WLAN with my phone to check email or to check for updates to the phone software.  But I don't like to do much typing on the phone keyboard, even though it is really a very good keyboard for a cell phone.
I do use the map/GPS feature regularly and think it is one of the best I've used.  I've gone through about five stand-alone GPS units which gives me some reference for comparison.
I'm not much of a game player, never have been, even on my computer.  I do have Angry Birds because it was free, and it is nice once in awhile to have something to occupy time when waiting at a doctors office or for a haircut, etc. and all the newspapers and magazines are old.
Here are things that I especially like about the new Nokia (Symbian) Belle software update:
I like the clock screen saver (I use the digital version rather than the analog display) because I can quickly look at my phone without having to unlock it and see the time/date (I've stopped wearing a watch).  It is also a great nightstand clock and alarm.  With the Light Bar app installed it is not too bright for sleeping but visible when needed.  I suspect though that it is sucking a lot of battery power and I may have to disable the clock screen saver if battery charging is too frequent.
The user interface is very good.  It is terribly easy to add or remove widgets and move them around on the home screen to suit ones needs.  The bar across the bottom makes accessing the applications menu, phone dialer, or options menu extremely quick and easy.
The pull down connectivity menu is superb.  With one touch I can turn on or off my Bluetooth, which I use with my car hands-free feature everyday.  Turning Bluetooth often when not need saves power.  With three taps of the screen I can connect to my home router, or disconnect with one tap.
A new capability that I now have and wished for previously on my E7 (but couldn't figure out how to do) is being able to put my phone in Off-line mode and still use the WLAN feature.  This is great in the evening at home when I don't want to be connected to my cell phone provider, but I do want to look up something quickly on the Internet without going to my desktop PC.
After the Belle update I found that I still had the following applications (originally installed in Anna) still available on the phone:
      Angry Birds
US and Canada Maps plus voice guidance
App Stop Camera Lover Pack (multiple apps)
      Opera Mini
      Sticky Notes
Here is a list of software and setting that were no longer on the phone after the Belle update:
    Applications
    Public Transportation
    Beeps and Vibrations voice guidance
    Converter
    GPS Info QT
    Compass Lite
    Nokia Internet Radio
    Display Brightness Control
    Nokia Battery Monitor 2
    Compass Touch
    Here and Now
    Settings
WLAN settings and password strings for three routers
    Start-up custom Welcome message
    Phone display settings
    Route settings for maps
    Voice guidance settings
    Home location for maps
Lost all Favorites including many map locations and Internet radio Favorites
    Lost all call logs
Lost all phone pairing - car and headset
    Lost call mailbox number
Since I have had the Belle update for less than 24 hours I am certain that there is more for me to discover.  But I thought it may be useful to provide this experience report as a heads-up for those about to do the same.  And now I will have to update my E6-00.

Thank you for the feedback hpholm.
I hope that you are very wrong about having to sync with OVI online services.  I have never done that.  Nowhere have I seen that as a requirement to store all the data on my phone.  And as I said, I do not pay for a data service with my cell provider and only connect my phone to the Internet through my home or work router, or through my PC via USB cable. So syncing to a remote site is not attractive to me.
My impression from Nokia on-line information is that the Nokia Suite application, which runs on my PC, backs up my phone - everything.  Where is the logic in backing up everything except my map Favorites.  Why would those be an exception?
Additionally, I am not interested in having to backup my confidential information to someone else's server where (in my opinion) I have less security than on my own PC (I do tech support and know how to lock down a computer).
Also, in most cases when one puts information on someone else's server, especially a free service from the like of Google, Facebook, Twitter, (might I suggest Nokia?) etc.  one loses control and rights to that information.  I'm unwilling to do that simply because someone else thinks it is good for me to do.  Ha!
Nothing is truly free.  You pay somehow.  These service aren't there because they are altruistic.  How many billions is the IPO for Facebook worth?  Gotta be a reason.  All that information that people put there about themselves and others is the reason.
I doubt Facebook would pay me anything to put personal info on their site.  I assume most people would think me a bit loony to expect it.
In any event, though there is a lot to like about the Belle update, there are a lot of unnecessary complications, with no warnings!
As I read the posts about peoples experiences with the Belle update I'm seeing a lot of disappointment.  From my experience in computing hardware, software and network support it is my opinion that the Belle update was rushed and was done in a less than professional manner.
From what I've been reading, people who have updated to Belle have generally expected it to be near perfect and hassle free, and many are really disappointed.  The end experience with the Anna update was much better in my opinion.  Not good for Nokia customer relations.
Nokia customer loyalty easily rivaled that of Apple.  But that has been seriously damaged with things like trashing Memo, going with the MS Windows phone OS, and a disappointing Belle update for all those expensive Nokia smart phones.  Kinda dumb.
I suspect that most if not all of the first line developers have been pulled off Symbian to do development work on the Windows phone OS.  The missing or incomplete bits and pieces in Belle, plus some gratuitous changes suggest less then experienced software developers working on Belle.
Enough grousing.  I just hope that things get fixed, but I'm feeling very pessimistic right now.  I wouldn't mind being proved wrong.

  • Nokia 700 and Belle FP1 (Product Code 059L5V1)

My unlocked Nokia 700 (Product Code 059L5V1) never got the Belle FP1 upgrade, and so far hasn't got FP2 several months on from release. Can someone from Nokia advise -
    1. Why not - it's unlocked, and so far I've used it on both O2 and Vodafone Contracts
    2. It's a UK model to my knowledge
    3. When am I likely to get it / how can I get it.
I was fobbed off with FP1 and so far all requests to Nokia have again been fobbed off with a combination of "it's your network provider" or "it will be soon" - this was months ago. Now that there are no longer any (to my knowledge) Service Centre's in the UK that isn't an option either.
I've always been a loyal Nokia customer - but this is really starting to annoy me now (and the lack of support on this matter from Nokia).
Please can one of the Nokia mods / employees look into this and advise what is going on here ?

    hi mate,
sorry to hear your frustration. the way it works is that your phone has a product code. now, if your phone is a branded handset (e.g. Vodafone with all their custom wallpapers and apps), then you need to get in touch with them regarding availability of the update. it may be the case that they have not approved the update, even though Nokia has contacted them and said here you can have it.
in the other case, your phone is a country variant (which is what it sounds like to me), and is dependent on your region's Nokia Care approving the update and making their own customisations to it. it happens sometimes, but the regional Nokia doesn't approve the update, and therefore it is never released to the end user. this is an unbranded handset. therefore, unbranded is different to having an unlocked phone. you will need to persist with your Nokia Care in this case regarding the update: http://nokia.com/support
You know I've heard those lines so many times it's beginning to sound like cut-and-paste.
The fact that he mentioned PRODUCT CODE in the subject line is a fair indication that he knows that his phone has a PRODUCT CODE.
My 059L5V1 is a country variant which was both unbranded and unlocked.  It now has the 059G2D1 generic EU FP2 firmware on it.  I'm not allowed to say how I achieved this, or I'll get banned.
If it wasn't for the fact my 808 is so good I would have given up on Nokia by now.

  • Nokia 500 and Belle Refresh: browser issues.

    Greetings.
The Belle Refresh was indeed a welcome refresh for this low-to-midrange phone. However, there is a serious issue with the browser.
With the update to Qt 4.8, you inherited QtWebKit, an amazing browser I know very well. In a desktop, it's fast, although it eats more memory than Firefox. However, in a cell phone like the 500, with limited amounts of RAM, this browser freezes the phone, due to the lack of memory. I'm also sure this browser can and will break phones with more memory and Belle FPx, since I've made QtWebKit use more than 1 GB of RAM in a computer running KDE.
There is a way to avoid this, called "user agent". Opera Mobile avoids this scenario by telling pages through user agent "hey, don't be hard on me, I'm browsing this from a cell phone", and pages adjust themselves to that scenario. However, you didn't tweak the user agent in your browser.
If you add no user agent tweaking, full HTML5 support, Flash Lite support (the much higher specced iPhone 4S doesn't support Flash), and low memory, you get a nightmare scenario.
    1. The webpages send their complete, full featured DESKTOP versions to my Nokia 500.
    2. QtWebKit supports everything, so, it makes a faithful attempt to properly render the page, even with Flash apps.
    3. Nokia 500 has only 70-80 MB of RAM free for apps to use.
    4. Boom.
Can you release a hotfix for Belle Refresh, changing the user agent of Nokia Browser to something that can trigger the mobile version of web pages? In that scenario, QtWebKit will eat much less memory and everyone will be happy. And please, can you do this for everyone using Belle Refresh?

I can confirm serious browser issues with the Belle refresh on a C6-01 device. The crash is so severe that only taking out the battery helps. It typically occurs when scrolling larger, feature-rich (and image-rich) webpages, so far I've seen this only on mobile connections (Edge, Umts), but that may be due to lack of testing with WLAN. (Where I've got WLAN I've usually a more powerful device as well..

  • Nokia n8 symbian belle problem HELP

Before i upgraded to belle software i was able to put a film on my usb dongle then using the adapter that comes with every n8 ( which turns your mini usb connection into a usb) plug it into my phone. Then i would use the av or the hdmi lead to connect it to my t.v and play the film through my phone on to my t.v screen. Since i have updated to the new belle software it doesnt work anymore the pictures there but no sound! This is so annoying since i used it all the time does anyone have the same problem or know how to fix it please help me. Thanks!

I too am having the same issue with only hotmail. Looking at Microsoft forums, Nokia users aren't the only ones. MS have done some sort of 'upgrade' to their exchange servers which is causing the issue.  They are sorting it out but goodness knows how long this is going to take. My emails sometimes come in but then on the next sync they disappear. The gripe that alot of people have is that phone manufacturers apparently hadn't been told of this 'upgrade' and for me, my additional gripe is that I have been a Nokia user since 1996 and over the last 1.5 I am getting increasingly frustrated with Nokia anyway and waiting for them to sort out some ongoing issues I have had since September last year, now this as there is this ' I don’t use active exchange as I don’t want to sync my contacts or calendar this way and prefer to use other ways/apps to sync this info. As there is and apparent ‘partnership' between Nokia & Microsoft, how come none of us users had a clue it was going to happen and what steps we should take for a smooth transition.

  • Nokia N8 Symbian Belle - A downgrade of sophistica...

    Dear Sirs,
I am writing to you in regards of the latest Belle update for Nokia N8.
I am deeply disappointed with some of the features and i would like to bring those to your attention. Dont get me wrong, as an update, Belle its nice and looks very beautiful on the phone, however, some things must be pointed out.
    1. The notifications widget. WHY was this removed completely and made the phone less sophisticated?? (and please dont reply back to me as i saw in other posts, stating that it has been replaced with the drop down. Pls read further before replying and bare in mind that i already know with what it has been replaced!) I mean listen.... i own an N8 (550 Euro mobile phone!) and my wife owns a nokia X3 (60 Euro phone!)... with the current update of Belle, on the N8 when i receive a message i get the cheap looking like, old style notification on "1 new message received" (without stating from who i received the message before i open the message)... with the notification widget we had on Anna however everything was more sophisticated, it actually made the phone look More sophisticated as well, as it stated on the widget from who (e.g. John) you received a message or a missed call... on the X3 of my wife, is States that, it states from who you you received the message...I liked that and made the phone look different from many other phone and as i have observed from a lot of posts, Many people liked the notifications widget and believed the same as well... therefore we reached a point where cheaper phones now look more sophisticated than smartphones??  i know that when you make new software you wanna change and update everything for certain marketing reasons, however in my humble opinion that does not mean that you should also go ahead and downgrade the sophistication of the phone just for the sake of changing extremely nice stuff in the name of updating... there are certain things that you should be left as they were if not need update...
    2. The fact that the widgets have been made all coulurful and "comic" like is a good thing on one hand but bad on the other. (e.g calendar, mail) On what basis was this done? I mean i am a lawyer, and i used those widgets and were very inportant to me on a daily basis, and i used them daily. On Symbian Anna, they were all very nice looking (glassy and black) and more professional. The fact that i updated the phone now and the widgets are so childishly designed and driven (colourful comic like calendar and email widget etc), makes one very uncomfortable in their use. (i mean think for instance a situation of me sitting next to a client and checking up my incoming mail on the widget that looks like poor unprofessional, childish email like hotmail, yahoo mail etc) I mean dont get me wrong, you should have included the new ones, but you should have also included the old glassy looking like widgets of symbian Anna (since i am certain you have them somewhere saved ni your databases) in the update and let the user decide which ones to use... you dont just simply proceed and make so many radical changes when you know that these kind of phones are also (and probably by majority) used by professionals.
Further, the old clock digital widget with the profile all in one was very nice and better looking like for some of us and shouldnt have been removed.......
    3. About the screensaver screen. My comments here are interelated with my above comments regarding the notifications widget. Firtsly, i dislike the fact that on the screensaver screen, i only get the message and missed call signs when i get one, but there is no number next to them stating now how many messages or missed calls i have received like it used to be on Symbian Anna (its one thing to have 10 missed calls and its another to have solely one. i mean think of this scenario: when i am in an important meeting, i only take the phone out of my pocket to see HOW MANY missed calls i have. i dont sit with clients there and check who called isnt it? so if i saw i had 10 missed calls in one hour then i would know its an emergency and interrupt - maybe my child had an accident or something)
Further, the clock on the screensaver shouldnt be made with this dotty white colour, that looks like or seems as if the phone is about to die completely - makes the phone look cheap and unsophisticated as well. The colour of the clock should  be solid crystal white as it used to be on Symbian Anna...
    Thanks
    YK

  • Nokia N8 Symbian Belle HTML EMAIL stopped working

About a month ago my Hotmail e-mail stopped working properly, to fix it I deleted the mail box and reset it up however as a result of the delete and reset I now have lost HTML formatted e-mail.
I am on the latest Nokia N8 Belle release for Orange.
The e-mail is setup through Exchange ActiveSync so that I have access to e-mail folders as the hotmail wizard setup version doesn't list my e-mail folders in the mail client.
I have tried a hard reset of my phone, a reload of the operating system and everything else I can think of.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve?

  • Upgrade hell nokia n8 to belle

    Hi
just about had enough of Nokia,  My Wifes n8 was working perfectly no problems but I made the mistake of upgrading via the suite to belle.
Now texts are not automaticaly sent the y are marked as waiting and left in the out box. She manualy has to go into the out box and send them.
Every time she turns the phone on it asks for a security code which we do not know, ok putting in 12345 gets it working but it is beyond a joke.
Try a factory restore wonderful except the upgrade has lost /changed the security code, five trys and I'm out
Thought I'd go back to the original software but no!! not possible phone needs to go to a Nokia Support centre.
One phone call, a heart attack  and breathing fire later... Yes they can do that for around £90
So I have to pay to fix Nokia s problem.
Am I the only person to find this laughable??? Ok the phone is not on contract and is probably out of warranty but it is Nokia software that broke the phone?
Apart from a hammer does anyone have any ideas?
    thanks
    Ian
