Gerber file for single layer board

I have made a single layer board PCB in ultiboard. (on copper top)
On making PCB, project explorer shows copper bottom & related botom layers. I thouht I can remove these layers in final gerber generation.
But on final step, we can unselect the copper bottom layer option. So fro my single layer board, ultiboard generated gerbers as if its double side board.
How to make settings in ultiboard for this?

Hi there,
In the Gerber properties window, you can only check the Copper Top layer and leave other settings as default when you export this Single layer board.
Another way is when you design this Single layer board in the beginning, you can set only one layer at first.
Click Options => PCB Properties and then select the Copper layers tab
In the Allow routing part, change the layer name Copper Bottom, and click its Properties
In the Copper Layers Properties dialog, uncheck Routing. It should look like the image below

Each logger can have its own file I think. Check the log4j documentation.

How can I design a single layer board in Ultiboard?

The students I work with design some very simple boards and we want to make them single layer, mainly because we etch them ourselves. Is it possible to set-up Ultiboard to route on a single layer?

Ultiboard always has at least two layers, but you can turn off routing for individual layers. You will then get DRC errors for any copper on the "off" layers.
Open the design
Click Options > PCB Properties and select the Copper layers tab
In the Allow routing box, change the layer name Copper Bottom, and click Properties
In the Copper Layers Properties dialog, uncheck Routing. It should look like the image below

PP3 CS3 EXPORT HALF FILE SIZE ONLY ,SHRINKEN FILES FIT SINGLE LAYER DVD ONLY

I've regently upgraded up PP3 CS3 , Which was exported half of the files size only . I created 1 hour video/audio project on PP3 , then EXport to Encore CS3 , and check Encode setting , at the bottom right side ( ESTIMATE FILE SIZE) is about 2200 MG .Event I switched Sinle layer or Dual layer the files size Estimated the same amounth .
I created anather 2 hour video/audio project,Exprt to Encore cs3 , Estimate file size about 4 gitbite , It fited single layer 4.7 dvd only
The DVD quality play back on DVD player is only half of the original footage .
Encore cs3 is the same issue , when I forced double file to 8 gibite to burn dual layer DVD . It got error (unlimited of disc).
I could not find any setting to make it work on PP3 cs3 and Encore cs3
I have previous PP2 , It could not build straigh 2 hour DVD , But It could make 1 hour each time with original my footage or very close I'm happy with that ,Build ISO folder , each file is about 4 gibite then I used 3rd party software NERO 7. put 2 DVD together about 8 gibite and burn to Dual layer DVD
I red manual book on page 42 encore cs3 , they do not make daul layer
I paid upgraded PP3 CS3 and paid full price Encore 3 . They 're not worth what I invested ,

I repeated again build my project in PP3 1 hour and 8 munite long video , Exprot Encore , I selected following setting as Type : DVD doule layer,
Direct burn without menus
Encoding setting : Preset :NTSC progressive high quality
or Medium qality
Video codec : Main concept MPEG VIDEO
Birates setting : VBR , 1 pass
minimum : 1.5
target : 4.
Max : 7.
GOP : M frame 3
M frame 15
Estimate files size : 2684.98 Mb
That 's all the setting I did , Whatever I swicthed single layer or double layer , the export file estimate no change .
If I tried longer video 2 hour , the estaimate file size is about 4. MG ,PP3 shrinken video file to fit single layer DVD 4.7 . The file size of 2 hour dvd good quality is about 8 gibite for dual layer DVD
The other option in PP3 did not work for any 3rd party sofwarer ,
It did not build ISO folder , and MPEG2 dvd did not build Video-ts at the root of dvd folder ,and both video and audio is splited could not use third party software , they exprot to Encore cs3 only
Then Encore did not burn more than 4.7 single dvd for 2 hour long half of quality

Outputting a file for dual layer dvd

Hi...is there a setting in Adobe media encoder that automatically caculates your timeline to fit a dual layer DVD? The MPEG DVD output setting automatically shrinks it to 3 gigs, enough to fit a standard DVD. I feel the quality of the file would be better if it was larger and burned to a dual layer.

If you're authoring in Encore, you set the Layer Breaks there. You can let Encore find them for you automagically, or you can set your own, or render out your own separate timeline for each layer. Read p.178 of the Encore Help PDF.

Get MUTLIPLE output files for SINGLE input file with multiple records

I have source xml file which has multiple records in it and I want to get multiple seperate flat files for it.
this is my source structure

here I have 4 headers so i need to get 4 output files ,similarly for 'n' headers I need to get 'n' output flat files. the above mentioned source xml file is just one file,like that I might get somany sourc xml files which has similar structure in it.
and also it is important to get the line items,if exists to the header, for the corresponding headers.
how can I achieve this?do I need to use BPM or any mappings other than Graphical?
please suggest me.

Note:
While creating Interface determination choose it as Enhanced/Extended
The Receiver Content conversion - For field separator and line separator give 'nl' , coz we concatenated all of them using ~ in mapping.
If you find any discrepancy in the above logic , please let me know.

How to create an exe file for single class

l have one some program with only one class and want to create one exe file for
easily execute for the user.
I've use exe4j and another tool to do but all failure, the error message always shown me that main class not found.

I suspect your class has somewhat invalid thing.
Have you verified:
- The class you wish to be executed contains public static void main(String args[])- The package declaration on your executable-wannabe class is valid
- In case you need to import another class, make sure the import statement(s) is valid
No matter what kinda program you use to create .exe from java class, the above things must be valid. AFAIK.

3 hour video for single layer burn

I have a 3 hour 10 minute Final Cut Pro project that I would like to be able to fit on a single dvd-r, not having dual layer burning capabilities.
First of all I don't even know if this is possible without squeezing down the file so much that it's essentially not worth viewing.
I have read some of the DVD Studio Pro instruction manual to try and address this issue and it seems that the I should set the bit rate to as low as 2.8 to fit it all. I am using the h.264 encoder for the video and the mpeg-2 encoder for audio.
There are no presets in compressor for a video this long, so I'm at a loss as to how to create my own.
I would appreciate any advise on what the optimal settings for this should be, or if it's a lost cause and I should just cut it in the middle and make two dvds.

Apply the longest preset, and that customize the preset to 3 or lower.
Use Dolby 2.
As you know that h.264 video won't import into DVD SP. Why encode to that format if you intend to encode it again?

I am trying to implement a single sign on solution between
several sites that are located both within the same network and on
external hosting services. I've tried several things with
<iframe> and <img> tags to get a logged in environment
established on each server - to no avail.

Can SWF file be programmed to access a ColdFusion, ASP, or
php page via aboslute path that would at minimum set a cookie on
the computer for each of those sites?

I have one HTML page that has 5 <iframe> tags - each of
a partner site. The URLs called in the <iframe> do nothing
more than set a cookie of the UUID. I'd like a flash file that does
the same - eliminating frames.

uniquely complex and I'd rather not go through all the why's and

Is there a gerber view to view printed circuit board gerber files?

Please advise to which gerber viewers are good for Mac products. I use windows at work but have Mac products and operating systems at home? Do you havea suggestion for a free gerber viewer for printed circuit boards gerber viewers.

Gerber file has drill holes

In Ultiboard 8.3.19, I created a small file consisting of a rectangle board outline and one part from the database that has two pads and the associated holes. When I export the gerber file for the board outline, I get not just the board outline, but the drill or pads for the part included in the board outline. I looked in the Ultiboard options and properties and cannot find any choices that would cause this.
I created the above example since I had modified an existing board layout of an actual product of ours and had the same result - extra stuff included in the board outline gerber. If I open the gerber outline file of the board before modification, it shows just the outline. I think I see some additional stuff included in the solder mask bottom layer as well.
I need to know what causes this to occur and what the workaround is. Example files attached.

I had posted the files with my original post yesterday on this forum. If you open the project file (.ewprj) and check only the board outline layer in the Design Toolbox, you see just the board outline. If you open the gerber file, you will see that in addition to the board outline, the two holes for the single placed component are also there. So, something is not working properly when the file is converted to Gerber format.
In this forum the same topic came up in a 2007 post, but was never answered:
I am having a problem with Ulitiboard 8. After exporting gerbers, the board outline gerber shows all drilled holes (except for the vias) as well as the usual outline. Previous versions only exported the board outline as expected. Is this a bug, or have I missed a control option somewhere? Thanks

Gerber Files are incomplete!

Hi there,
I have been using Ulticap & Ultiboard 2001 for a number of years now, and after recently having a number of issues with the software I thought it was time I upgraded to Multisim and Ultiboard V10.
But when it came to producing some Gerber Files in the RS 274x it appeared to produce the gerber files for me, and I noticed that there did appear to be the Drill Files so I sent them off to manufacture.
But the board manufacturer has no Drill File information at all.
When I checked back to previous Gerber Files Produced with Ultiboard 2001 and Ultiboard 7 I noticed two additional files that had the following File Extension ***.REP & ***.DRL all of the files I have produced have the same extension of ***.GBR
Have I not generated the Files correctly or is there a setting I have to check before producing the Gerber Files.
Any assistance on this matter would be much appreciated.

First I need to Export the Gerber Files in the RS 274x Format
Then I need to Export the "NC Drill" Files
Is this correct?
Sorry if I am sounding "Thick" but I am currently working at the customers premises trying to find an answer for when I get back to the office, so I don't actually have the software open in front of me.
But from past experiance of using Forums, an answer can take hours to come in, where as this one is minutes.
Is there any other files I am going to need to Export or should that be it for the time being?

Change on input to cater for single and multiple files?

This script currently allows me to drop a single file on to the droplet and it processes it, I would like to be able to drop 1 or more items on it at the same time.
How can I get it to do all that are dropped on the droplet please?

Exporting Gerber file in Ultiboard 10 for school project

I am trying to export a PCB design in Ultiboard 10 but the export option is grayed out on file menu. I am using the evaluation verison of Power Pro because I was told by tech support that my student verison does not allow exporting. I would great appericate if someone could tell me how to export my design to a Gerber file. I need to have my PCB board prototyped for my senior design project. Thanks.

Evaluation editions do not allow printing or exporting the files. In the academic versions the Education edition is the one that allows export and printing. The stuident version does not allow export to Gerber files.
You could save your file (.ewprj) and open it in a Education or Professional edition if you have access or know someone that have access to a license of one of those editions.
