German translation with ß renders website unusable

Hi,
I just wanted to report an ugly problem with the German translation for the language strings in Aperture 3. When I recently exported my photographs to a website it produced links that were completely unusable.
The problem: For detail view Aperture exports html pages that were in English named large-xxx.html. The German translation for "large" ist "groß" – but groß contains the letter ß. Thus all details pages produce 404 errors on a web server – a desaster!
I found the solution on the web: You habe to open Aperture package and have to manually change the German language strings (to "gross" or something alike).
But this is certainly not a solution which is feasible for everybody.
So please: Could somebody make it happen to remove this stupid bug from the next release?

Are you using the latest Aperture version 3.5.1, Reinhard?
Then, if you have a Developer Account, use "Bug Reporter" to file a Bug Report.
If you don't have access to Bug Reporter, fill out the Feedback form:
Apple - Aperture - Feedback
Describe the bug there, then the Developer Team will also see it.
I'll try to reproduce the bug, and if I can, I'll also file a bug report.

Help needed in URM German translation override with XLF file translation

I have a problem in URM 11.1.1.3 German translation override through a custom component.
I have a OOTB German context localization ww_strings.xlf file present in <oracle middleware home>/ucm/idc/components/Localization/lang/de in URM with a translation entry as

The Warehouse storage type name is referring to the key 'wwWarehouse' and so i see 'Warehouse' as name in the storage pages.
when i am overriding this entry key using a custom component with the following entry it does not work and the original translation is shown in the page.

I have checked that the loadOrder is not the issue here and issue is the presence of @002frm keyword.The entry <@de.wwWarehouse@002frm=Archiv@> also does not work
Any Idea how can i override the translation key.

Are you trying to translate a BI report, or the string in the web interface?
I have to ask first:
- Have you enabled the German locale for Content Server?
- In your user profile, have you selected German?
Assuming both answers are yes...
I wouldn't worry about the XLF/XLIFF file if you are changing the caption in a report - provided the caption can even be translated in the report. URM does some black-magic translation for "certain" select strings in reports. Not sure "Warehouse" is one of them, though.
I'd avoid trying the <@lang_code.string@> route -- sometimes it works, sometimes not. In your custom component, create a folder structure like "resources/lang/de/ww_strings.htm", and put <@wwWarehouse=Archiv@> in that file.

Question about Google Translator with flags for BC website

I am looking for a solution for my website , I am using Business Catalyst as platform to create the website. I am looking for simple one code/plugin/HTML solution which I can copy paste in the website for the translation. I want to put google translator with flags on my website in the top right hand side. I want to translate my website in 9 languages and want to put 9 country flags on the top right hand side, which translate languages on click event on "same page" , I want the translation must take place at the same page after clicking on the flag. How-ever I successfully integrated google translate with dropdown option but want to integrate google flag translations on my website.
Please let me know what can be done here.

Don't use google translate, it's the worst user experience you can ever give a user and makes the site look like it was designed by a 12 year old with a grammer problem. Machine translation is no were near anything good for a production website currently and even more so for non latin languages like Japanese, Chinese, Korean etc.
Case and point, throw a few lines of text into google translate, then reverse the translation back to english, you'll see my point.

Translating Arch Linux website to Dutch

Hello everybody,
I love Arch and I want to show it. Therefore, I want to translate the Arch Linux website (and maybe Pacman messages too, becuase not all Pacman messages are translated to Dutch and that looks bad) to Dutch. At school I have teachers for German French and I know somebody who can speak Frisian. I can ask them too if they would help me. To who can I send translated texts?

It might be a stupid question, but why translate the main website to Dutch? I think most dutch users will have no problem at all with the english language. As for Frisian, I think that there would be no benefit in translating to Frisian. I mean, there is only a small minority in the Netherlands (and the world for that matter) that speaks it and they are perfectly able to read and speak Dutch as well.
I personally think that translating the wiki is more useful than translating the main website, as people get more information from the wiki than the main website. If you really want to translate the website, you'll have to set up and host a dutch website yourself. The sources for the main website should be available. You can look at the french and german communities for ideas.
Translating pacman to Dutch wouldn't be a bad idea, but you should make that in a separate thread so more people can see it and can point you in the right direction (I wouldn't know where to start).

Best way for LV app to communicate with Database/Website?

Hey all...I'm pretty experienced LabVIEW programmer but I'm in somewhat new territory here with communicating with a server/website.
We are going to have an online SQL database that stores all data that we record for our application. That database is going to have a web-based front end that will allow users to add/edit records.
On the other end, we are going to have a LabVIEW application running on a PC that will allow its users to acquire/input data, and also add/edit records for the SQL database as well. So basically a web-based client and a LV application client, which will most likely differ in functionality.
There are going to be multiple PCs running LabVIEW client
applications (let's assume upwards of 20 for now). The idea would be
that the user could:
Query the SQL database for an existing entry, and then view/edit that entry or add records to it.
Create an entirely new record.
I have played around with the database connectivity toolkit and was able to communicate with the SQL databases online, no problem. But, I'm not sure if that is the best way to do this yet because....
Here are our challenges/constraints/specifications:
Well we need this to be as low bandwidth intensive as possible as each LV client will be using a GPRS(cell phone) data connection to the internet which is pay per use. Here are my thoughts on this so far:
Having local copies of often accessed records on each machine with incremental updates to the server to minimize bandwidth for queries.
Positives/Negatives?
Send data to the server in a tagged format (XML maybe?) and then have a server-side application that parses the data and updates it to the database.
Postives/Negatives?
When updates are made using the website front-end...we would like at a minimum to be able to notify the LV client that an update has been made (like a Push data/notifier service).
How to implement?
POP3 e-mail for each LV client might be an option but is there something better?
The data types that we are working with include all standard types (numeric, text, timestamps) and also includes images (jpg) and sound files (mp3) and potentially video in the future.

Sounds good so far. Interesting idea of putting it in different directories, although I'd like to minimize file I/O as much as possible, especially between different VIs. I'm also intrigued by using .zip files to cut down on file size.
No, the clients won't easily be able to talk to each other. All messaging between clients will go through the server as well.
I guess I'm really looking for how to practically implement this as well. Like what VIs (protocol) should I be using to get the data to the server? TCP/UDP/SMTP/FTP/SQL connection/etc...I have little experience making apps communicate with a website/webserver.

Importing Multilanguage Translations with DTW

Hi,
My issue is to import multilanguage translations with DTW. The import itself works fine, the problem is to update.
The scenario is:
- some translations to an item A were imported
- now there are some translations in other languages, that should be imported to the item A
It should be possible, but i just can't get it..

How do I set the UserLanguagesObject?
I use two templates:
1.) MultiLanguageTranslations:
RecordKey = 1
Numerator = ACME Item
FeldAlias = ItemName
PrimaryKeyObject = A100
TableName = OITM
2.) TranslationsInUserLanguages:
RecordKey = 1
LineNum = (empty when import)
LanguageCode = 9
TranslationsContent = this is german
When updating i tried to add an additional row in the second template or i created a new template only with the new record, setting the LineNum to 1. It doesn't work.
Or did you mean, that in the import i have to set all language codes, even if without translationscontent?

No problem at all, thks for your reply. I did not download from the App Store. I bought the full Logic Studio software back in 2008 so I have all the disks.
I did look on the Library/Application Application Support/Logic/Plug-in Settings and there are 26 files listed and I recognize quite a few that i have been using that seem to work OK. But somtimes, as you know you can click on say, EFM1 but then by clicking on that, you have to choose another on of the option effects such as 07 Warped FM and then to Aqua Enchant befoer you can be finished selecting what you need. This is where I run into the lost content. Actually I have a book I' learning from called Logic Pro 8 Beyond the Basics and it hands on exercises to do, the books written well, and I'mn dong well with it, but if you have a major question you must ask, thats when I need help otherwise you can't proceed further.
But back to to The File incons Library/Application Application Support/Logic/Plug-in Setting yes, I do sse the 26 File Folders and the folder icon is Blue which looks correct, however, when I try to open those files, there appears to be no content inside of them. I'm not saying this is abnormal as I dont' really know, I'm just reporting back. So does this mean that the files are in fact missing content?
By the way, some of the plug in settngs in the Library work fine and those files show up as "blue" color but LIbray always lets me know when the files show a white "Zero." in the file.icon.

Help with multilingual website

Hi, I'm sorry if it's already answered, but I'm new here and I couldn't find it.
I'm making a website for someone and he's asked me for one that you can change the language with the flagsystem. So the original website is in Dutch and you can change the website to English, French and German
I know, the flags isn't really the good thing to do it with, but hey, he wants it. So, my question is:
Can anyone give me an example or a link where there's a good to follow tutorial for it? I know the best way is to do it with php, and that the text in different languages are all seperate files so, when needed to be changed, it can be done easily.
I've found some codes online, but not really one that's explained how to do things good.
I'm new to php, but I'm willing and eager to learn.

SSO with a website using Apache Httpclient form post

I am trying to obtain, SS0 with a website, that accepts the user information via post.
I tried using app Integrator, but the website sends a cookie in first request, and redirects to another URL. App Integrator is only catching the first response.
Thus i tried implementing this Form post using Apache HTTPClient class inside the Abstractportacomponent, as shown..
The login is taking place. But, When i click on any link on the page, It is redirecting to the login page again, I am wondering where should i give the Cookie, so the portal request will include that cookie in its subsequent requests, so that i wont be prompted for login agian..

The URL iView in SP9++ has been reported quite instable from different sides (just do a look on "URL iView" within this forum). The alternative for the aim you have is to use the good "old" application integrator iView, which behaves very stable and will do what you want without hesitating...

Click on your account name in the top right corner of the iTunes store in the iTunes application on your computer, enter your password and click the "view account" button. Navigate to the Apple ID summary where you have the option to "change country or region".
In order to change your location, you will need a credit card registered to an address in the location you are trying to change to.
You cannot change your location if you have credit on your account, if you are unable to spend your credit and leave a balance of zero, contact Apple, which you can do through iTunes Store Support.

I need Help with a website I've created

I need help with a website I've created (www.jonathanhazelwood.com/lighthouse) I created the folowing site with dreamweaver at my current resolution 1366 by 768. Looks great on my screen resolution but if it is viewed on other resolutions the menu moves and some of the text above and below. How can I keep all content centered and working like it does on 1366 by 768 on all resolutions. The htm to my site is below I started off with a blank template through dreamweaver CS5.

Look at all the apdiv's you have. Those are absolutely positioned layers. I'm assuming by your post that you are very new to Dreamweaver and HTML and CSS. I would highly recommend not using absolutely positioned layers until you have a better grasp on HTML and CSS.
Looking at your code I would suggest that you consider using one of Dreamweaver's built in, or downloadable templates as a starting point and work from there.
