Gestures via wacom tablet in motion

wondering if any one can mention their experiences in using gestures instead of keystrokes. Just curious about it and don't want to waste the time learning a bunch of gestures if other motion users have found it to be an inefficient method of input in motion.
appreciate your input

  • Adding signature via Wacom tablet in Pages...possible?

Seems MS Word 2007 has inking feature...can't locate anything like it in Pages. I love my new Bamboo Fun tablet, but I don't know how to use it to add signatures to documets created in Pages. Anyone have a solution?
    Thanks in advance!

Could you save your signature as a .png or PDF & insert that into your Pages document?
This sounds like a very useful feature. I suggest you leave feedback for the Pages team requesting it for a future version.

  • Why Non fluid canvas rotation (wacom tablet with touch gestures)

    Hello!
I just got photoshop at home, and i am using it with my wacom intuos touch tablet on windows 8.1.
I notice that when i use my fingers to rotate, zoom and pan, i am not getting the behavior that was announced on this video:
Microsoft Surface Pro 3 - Launch Full Event - Tuesday, May. 20 - YouTube
More precisely, the behavior of the 2 fingers tap to reset the view does not happen with my tablet.
Also, the whole thing is really not fluid, especially the rotations.
Though, when i am using the rotate view tool to rotate, it is totally fluid.
Similarly, when i pan with the hand tool, the movement is also fluid.
Why such a difference? What am i missing?
    Thanks in advance!

Is there a possibility that this feature only works with the touch system of the Microsoft Surface, and not with the touch surface of the wacom tablet?

  • Connecting a serial wacom tablet to the new iMac

    Hello,
At home I have an old PC (please don't laugh, I use a Mac at work) and I hope to change this to the new iMac very soon. I have a A4 wacom tablet connected to the PC via the serial port. Is it possible to get an adapter (serial to USB) that will work on the iMac so that I can use the tablet and not have to shell out another X anount of money for a new one??
    Thanks in advance.

  • Wacom Tablet causes Apple wireless keyboard to stop working.

My Wacom tablet/pen causes my Apple wireless keyboard to stop working.  While working on a photo in Photoshop using my Apple (usb) mouse to make selections the keyboard works fine.  When I use the Wacom Pen to make selections, not immediately but anywhere from five to ten minutes into it, I hear what sounds like a chirp from my computer (Mac Pro) and my keyboard stops working.  The command, option, control and direction keys still work but not the number and letter keys.  I have to connect a spare Logitech keyboard via USB in order to continue and not loose my work.  After awhile I will hear the chirp again and the Apple keyboard will start working.  This will continue to occur at irregular intervals.  Without the spare keyboard I've had to reboot my computer (loosing all the work on the photo) to get the keyboard working again, but only for it to reoccur.  Any suggestions to fix this would be appreciated.

The Mac inherently keeps all input methods active, such that you could type alternate keys on alternate keyboards.
If you have third party add-ons that might change the way Bluetooth works, those would be the primary suspects.
Be sure all your Drivers are completely up-to-date, and batteries in battery-powered devices are still strong.
Bluetooth uses the same part of the frequency spectrum (but a different modulation technique) as cheap WiFi Routers, baby monitors, and microwave ovens. if you live in a busy apartment building, there may be very high levels of interference.

  • Wacom tablet brush features lagging and non-responsive

I am a photographer and rely heavily on my Wacom tablet to edit my images in Photoshop. The latest CS6 update and CC update disables any tool that uses the brush feature. If I work with a tool for example the quick selection tool, before I can use any keyboard shortcuts or hot keys I have to click anywhere else in my workspace, then my keyboard will work. I cannot increase the selection size of the tool, cannot adjust hue or saturation,  and cannot choose another tool using the keyboard shortcuts.
THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM for me at the moment. My editing time has nearly TRIPLED because of the additional steps I have to take.
I contacted Wacom support and they told me to contact Adobe. All of the Adobe forums said to contact Wacom. I am now stuck in an endless battle of neither company wanting to take responsibility.
The most recent Wacom drive supports Mac 10.8x-10.10x so Wacom does not believe that their driver is the cause of the malfunction. When I use my Apple mouse I do not have any of these issues in Photoshop. Yes, the simple answer is to stop using my Wacom and just use my mouse but that is not a plausible argument for a left-handed person.
I am also frustrated that I could not contact support via email that I had to start a discussion. Hoping someone from Adobe will respond or even see this. Clearly there is an error with the Adobe software.

Ok the problem seems to be fixed for me. Here what I did:
Before, I was running Yosemite 10.10 on an iMac i7
I had the latest driver from Wacom (I tried a couple of older drivers, to no avail)
I'm running PS CS6, with all update
I'm using a Wacom Intuos 5 medium tablet
I was getting super bad lag while using the brush and other tools. Let's say I'd open an image to edit. After selecting the keyboard shortcut for my brush, I'd make one pass with the brush on the image. The brush stroke would be there, but it wouldn't show up in the history palette. Only after making another brush stroke would the previous action be recorded in the history palette. I was lagging real bad. In between brush strokes I wouldn't be able to change tools or even change the size of my brush. Nothing worked. I'd have to click off the image to regain control, or click the trackpad to regain control. BTW, the trackpad worked perfectly. NO lag for anything in PS. The polygonal lasso tool, one of my favorite selection tools, was basically unusable with the lag. I'd have to click several times before it would catch up and then sometime it would just randomly close the selection. So that was useless.
Ok, so that's what was happening to me. My tablet was basically useless. It took triple the time to work with it.
All I did was update Yosemite to 10.10.1 and the tablet now works PERFECTLY in photoshop cs6 for me. I'm not sure you'll get the same results but it worked for my computer. I really didn't think it would work so I was pleasantly surprised when it did.
I had tried installing older wacom drivers. Didn't work.
I tried reinstalling PS CS6 in a new user profile on my Mac. Didn't work.

  • Wacom Tablets

    Hi
Is anyone out there willing to advise on which Wacom tablet (or other brand)to use in conjunction with pse3
    Thanks
    Neil

    Click Cardo,
You asked about tablet size. That depends on two factors:
    1) What you going to use it for. If you are mainly going to be using the
tablet to trace something or to digitize for a CAD program, the tablet needs
to be large enough to accomodate your source material. You aren't going to
be happy tracing an 8x10 drawing on a 4x5 tablet. If you are an artist and
will be doing a lot of sketching and drawing, the finer sensitivity and
angle sensing of the Intous can be an advantage.
    2) What are your personal preferences. Do you make large sweeping motions
when you draw or do you prefer smaller motions. Remember, the tablet is
mapped to the screen. If you have a 12x19 tablet, you will be moving your
hand 19 inches to move the cursor from one side of the screen to the other.
That gets old in a hurry. I prefer small precise movements from the wrist
and fingers and find that the 4x5 tablet works well for me. I can easily
reach any part of the screen with minimal effort and still have fine
control. If you tend to make larger motions or don't have as much facility
with fine motor skills, you may be happier with a larger tablet.
I bought my Graphire 4x5 years ago when I had a standard monitor. Now I
have a widescreen monitor. I find I can still use the 4x5 quite effectively
with the widescreen monitor. The default mapping matches the tablet
working area to the screen area. Because the two have different aspect
ratios, this does introduce some distortion but this has not been an issue.
If I were to trace a circle on the tablet, it would show up as a mild
ellipse on the screen, however, I don't trace anything and I find, that
looking at the screen, my hand-eye coordination compensates automatically --
circles come out circles. I don't even have to think about it.
The tablet driver lets you control the mapping. You can easily map the
tablet working area to one (or even a portion of one) of your two monitors.
If you do that, you will need to use your conventional mouse to access the
areas not mapped. If your mapped areas on the screen and the tablet have
the same proportions, there is no distortion and you can trace quite well.
That will probably mean that some of the tablet area will not be usable so,
in effect, you will be having a slightly smaller working area. Something to
think about when choosing your size.
Your dual monitors effectively form a very widescreen monitor. If you are
using the full area of both, the widescreen tablets may very well be
advantageous. When choosing a tablet, consider the area of the screen you
want to be accessible by the tablet. Then, select the tablet that has an
aspect ratio closest to that. That way you have the least distortion (and,
the least amount of lost tablet area if you adjust the driver to match the
    screen proportions on the tablet).
I have the Graphire and it's worked well for me. But, when it comes time to
replace it, I'll probably get the Intuos. The Intuos has double the number
of sensitivity levels which means that you have finer control of the
pressure effects. The range of pressure (from softest to hardest) you have
to press the pen is the same, it just makes it easier to control. It also
can sense the pen angle which the Graphire cannot do.
You are going to have to decide for yourself which tablet will be best for
you. Personal preferences and intended use are going to factor big in your
decision. If you can, go to a store where you can try out a Graphire and
Intuos. If you can't find anyone that will do that, find a store with a
    good return policy.

  • Wacom Tablet help

Earlier I was using a wacom tablet in adobe cs3 just fine, now I get no tip sensitivity. As in, the pen will always draw a think line no matter how light I use the pen. Any help would be great

Does the test window in the control panel respond to different pressures?
You might have pressure sensitivity disabled for the particular tool in
Photoshop. This is controlled via the drop downs along the right edge of
    the tool palette.
Try resetting your prefs - hold down ctrl-alt-shift while Photoshop starts.
Next thing I would suggest is to uninstall the tablet, and re-install the
    latest drivers from www.Wacom.com .

  • Problem with downloading via wacom

i bought a wacom bamboo tablet that included a free full photoshop elements 11, when i download photoshop elements from the website it downloads normally< however, after installing the software it appears that the editor isn't working.
i did lots of checking in the adobe help fourms, nothing helped this far, after searching in the files myself, i found that the downloader doesn't download the editor file at all, thus the installer is only installing the organizer, i checked my wacom tablet box again and it sure has a full photoshop elements, i tried re-downloading many times, although i need 5 hours to complete the download, still to no avail.
i hope you can help me with this problem.

If you got a serial number from wacom, try downloading the trial from adobe's site and entering the number into that. It should work.
Be sure to uninstall the bad version before installing the trial, either via control panel in windows or the uninstaller in applications>Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 on a mac.

  • 10.5.6 and Wacom Tablet

After upgrading to 10.5.6 on my 2006 mac pro, my wacom tablet is no longer recognizable. I tried switching USB ports and upgrading the drivers and restarting my computer. It will no longer recognize that I have one connect. My tablet still lights up though. I have the Intuos3. Anybody know how to solve this? I need my tablet for artwork that I produce at home. Any help would be appreciated!!

First contact Wacom about the problem. It could well be that the new version of OS X is simply incompatible with older version Wacom tablet drivers. If that be the case then you can try downgrading to the previous version of OS X via an Archive and Install:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • LR4.1 and Wacom tablets

After installing LR4.1, neither of my Wacom tablets (wired and wireless) were programmable with it.  I had to reinstall LR4.0.  Now all is well again.  Whatever improvements LR4.1 might have created for me, they weren't worth not being able to use my Wacoms.

My Wacom keys stopped working with LR4.1. I tried everything... Restarting, redefining, etc. No good. So I restored to V4 via Time Machine and the Wacom keys work again. Goofy!

Note that you can get all current values, formatted into shell script form, like this:
xsetwacom -s --get "Wacom PL550" all > setemall
Then you have to remove everything you don't want to set (e.g. read-only parameters, and things that will always be right by default).
I have an old Cintiq (actually a Hitachi StarBoard, which is just a rebadged Cintiq AFAICT) which I want to use under my main monitor.  By default when I move the stylus from the bottom of the Cintiq up to the top, the cursor starts on the Cintiq and then goes onto the main monitor, because it mapped the area of the Wacom tablet to the entire virtual desktop (some of which is not even reachable because my main monitor is wider than the Cintiq: 1920x1200 with 1024x768 "under" it means the virtual desktop will be 1920x1968.   Unfortunately there doesn't even seem to be a calibration utility so I had to do a lot of trial and error, fiddling with the X and Y ranges, to get the cursor confined to the Cintiq and pixel-accurate.  These settings worked for me, to fix that:
    xsetwacom --set "Wacom PL550" Screen_No 1
xsetwacom --set "Wacom PL550" TwinView none
xsetwacom --set "Wacom PL550" xyDefault 0
xsetwacom --set "Wacom PL550" mmonitor 1
xsetwacom set "Wacom PL550" "BottomY" "4600"
xsetwacom set "Wacom PL550" "TopY" "2820"
xsetwacom set "Wacom PL550" "BottomX" "3320"
xsetwacom set "Wacom PL550" "TopX" "65"
So far I'm using separate screens rather than TwinView, but will try it again and see how that goes.  I was thinking of confining my mouse to the main screen as well, because being able to mouse beyond the bottom edge breaks some gestures (like slamming into the lower-left or lower-right corner to open a KDE flyout panel), and I will probably use the Cintiq mainly for drawing programs.  But being able to mouse onto it is kindof useful too, and I can always just turn it off when I'm not using it.  And I'm not sure how to confine the mouse to one screen, e.g. in xorg.conf... one would think there would be a way, and maybe the same technique could confine the stylus to the Cintiq's area of the desktop as well?
Which brings me to another problem: every time I turn it back on, it's re-detected by udev and then by X.  So I will need to run my setup script again when that happens.  Should be possible to get udev or hal to do it automatically somehow, maybe.
Yet another problem is that if I hold down the right-click button on the stylus and simultaneously press the stylus against the screen, the cursor jumps back to my main monitor.  Pressing that button on the side of the stylus is itself like a right-click, so it's not necessary to "click" against the screen at the same time, but that's still annoying behavior, and inconsistent with some types of tablets where the stylus buttons are like modifiers, and you do still have to press against the screen to actually "click".
It really rocks that X does such a good job detecting devices that come and go, though.  A few years ago, being able to turn it on after X was already running, and having it work, would have been unheard of.

  • Graphic tablet with motion

I am still using mouse to work on motion, since one year i started to use it, is there a real benefit in using a graphic pad? anyone of you is using it?

I use a Wacom tablet all the time. Generally, I use the Wacom mouse, but when I need to draw, I use the pen...
Drawing with a mouse is like trying to draw with a bar of soap...

  • Photoshop CC work area troubleshooting on wacom tablet

Hi I have a very odd problem going on with photoshop cc while using my wacom tablet. For the most part it runs fine with no real problems whatsoever. I can work on photoshop normally until I move my cursor away from the wacom screen, back to my MacBook, and click out of the program. Once I do this the work area in photoshop disappears. specifically meaning the window where my current file is being made goes blank. everything around the work area appears the same, like the tools, tabs, etc.  My only solution to this problem is to turn off and on the wacom tablet. It works fine after that until I click out of the program again. Its getting pretty annoying to deal with now so any help would be super appreciated. I will post pics to give you guys an example when I get the chance. Posting from my phone right now.
    here are my specs:
    Macbook Pro  15-inch
    2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
    4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 512 MB
    OSX 10.9.2 (13C64)
    Cintiq 13 HD

Is it just slow drawing, or is actual computation (image size, rotate, GBlur, etc.) also slow?
If the slowdown is drawing, then the most likely culprit would be the video card driver. Update your driver from the GPU maker's website.
If the computation slows down, then something is interfering with Photoshop. We've seen some third party plugins, and some antivirus software cause slowdowns over time.

  • Using a serial Wacom tablet on a Mac Pro

I have a good Wacom tablet with serial port interface that I would like to connect to a Mac Pro.
Is there some way to do this? Is there any sort of serial to usb adapter or would that not work with a Mac Pro?
    Thanks for any advice.
