Get a clip name in Video Filter

Hello!
I need to write some specific plugins, that "overprints" technical info over image. So, I get a problem - what is the best way to get CLIP name in "VideoFilter" plugin? Can I get there more technical info (that is seen in Premier's bin) ?
Thanks.

Yes, version 4 of the Utility Suite is new for Premiere Pro CS6, so the call wouldn't work in earlier versions or other products at this point.
Does the workstation with CS6 have Microsoft Visual Studio installed too?  If not, then the problem is probably that you are building a debug plug-in that is dependent on the debug Microsoft run-time libraries.  The other workstation doesn't have these DLL dependencies, so the plug-in can't be loaded.  To fix this you could either install the debug Microsoft run-time libraries on your system with CS6, or build a release version of your plug-in (which you will need to do eventually if you plan to distribute the plug-in to other systems).

  • Remove Clip Name from Video

    Hello,
I'm relatively new to using Premiere Pro.  I have a video I am preparing for use on the web.  After editing and saving as an .mp4 file, when I play it, using Windows Media Player, briefly (three seconds or so) it shows the Clip Name (file name) in the upper left hand area of the video. How can I stop this behavior?
Thank you for any and all help.

    Thank you joe bloe!
For at least the past four hours, I have been searching Adobe Forums, Google, and checking everything under the sun within PP!  I didn't find how to disable this under preferences for Media Player, but I did open up Quick Time and the Clip Name (file name) isn't there.
If you have the time, could you share the path to the Media Player > Preferences > Disable the Clip Name.  I'm using Win 7 Professional, IE 10.
    Again, thank you!

  • Burning clip name into video

    Hi,
I have many short clips that I'm exporting for a director and was wondering if there was a setting I could take advantage of that would help burn the clip name into the picture.
They are all timelapse clips that I will upload online as one long video.
It would help our workflow to have the clip name present because the director/cinematographer could give me feed back on specific clips instead of referring to the timecode. I thought if it is just one click away it would streamline things a bit and save the time of creating seperate titles or scrolling through the timline in reference to timecode.
Thanks in advance for your Pr wisdom.
    ~Scott
    p.s: I'm running CC

Hmmm ...I immediately thought of using the titler but you need a different "name" in each clip. Manually that would be a pita ... and I can see uses for that even with my small set-up, as for my interview and persona-stories work I frequently end up with sub-clips of this and that which need consideration for inclusion by at least one if not 2-3 other people.
If there's a way to simply burn the clip name into a proxy-like smallish outputtable file, that would be darn handy ...

  • Where to get the Video Filter, Adobe Samurai

After Effects Comp will not export complete comp to Premier, asking for Video Filter "AE Adobe Samurai" Where and how can I get this filter, Asking for this filter when I use Roto Brush

Samurai is the internal name for the Roto Brush effect. You already have this effect when you install After Effects. This effect does not work in Premiere Pro. You can export an intermediate file from After Effects to Premiere Pro to get the Roto Brush results into Premiere Pro.

  • Why is the Video Filter "Shift Fields" Automatically being added to my clips?

In the timeline, I've been noticing that FCP is randomly adding the "Shift Field" video filter to about 75% of all my clips in the timeline.
    Is this common?

I don't think in my case FCP has ever wrongly applied the filter when I just was editing from the Viewer to the Canvas. Only when copying footage from sequence to sequence, I discoverd problems.
By the way. You can select all the 'faulty' clips and choose Conform to Sequence from the menu, and al should be right...

Good points, all. Thanks for your contribution, Rienk.
"Conform to Sequence" is a function I have never used, did not know it even existed, thanks for that, too.

  • My ipad2 is only allowing me to email 30 sec clips of a video that I made which is saved in Photos on my iPad2. How can I get it to email the entire video?

My iPad2 is only allowing me to email 30 sec clips of a video that I made which is saved in Photos on my iPad2. How can I get it to email the entire video?

It is most likely a size issue. I have a 3 minute video that's almost 200 megs. If you're just trying to show it, you might consider youtube. if you're wanting to upload/share it then you can try things like Dropbox or other onlilne file sharing programs.

  • Applying one video filter to multiple clips

How do I apply just one video filter to multiple clips on a timeline in FCP7? "Copy and paste attributes" does not give me the control to select just one filter to apply, for example there is a color corrector and sharpen filter in the copied clip and all I want to paste is sharpen.

Double click on a clip on the timeline that has the sharpness filter with the settings you want to apply to additional clips.
When that clip has loaded to the viewer, click on the filters tab. You will see a list of all the filters you have applied.
Now, on the timeline, select all the clips you want to apply that filter to (you can hold down the Command key while clicking on the clips to select multiple clips).
Once the destination clips are selected, move your cursor to the Viewer window Filters tab display, and click down on the Sharpness filter and drag it to any one of the selected clips on the timeline.
It will be applied to all clips.

  • Copy Video filter to multiple clips

How can I copy the color correction filter all the clips?
I can add the filter to all the clips by selecting them and going to Effects>Video Filter> Color>color correction and the filter show up in every clip. But when I adjust the white using the dropper it apply it only to the clip I have selected or have double clicked if all are selected.
I can Modify>copy filter> 2 ahead, but how do I apply that color correction to all the clips?
    Thanks

FCP Forum probably better spot for this one.
Anyways it should work across the board, that said, however, unless the clips are all pretty much matched well, color correction settings for one clip will not be the same as other clip, what I usually do is save the general settings as favorites, drop them on a clip then check each clip for any further tweaks

  • Apply video filter to many clips at once?

I have a 'sub' sequence that I have embedded into my main sequence and I want to apply a video filter mask (feathered oval) to make the sequence look like its projected from an old film projector. I don't want to apply the filter to each individual clip in my sub sequence because there are many. What is the best approach to doing this? thanks!
    (FCP 5.12)

OK - so I used the word 'embedded' and I think I meant 'nested' - so how exactly do I apply the effect to the nested sequence? I tried and can't seem to make it work - e.g. when I double click on the sequence to open it in the viewer, it opens the nested sequence as its own sequence instead - I can't open it in the viewer to apply the filter.

  • Applying video filter to selected area in clip

    Good morning all
I'm sure it can be done but, for the life of me I cant figure it out ...
Can I or how do I apply a video filter to a selected portion of a clip ?
In other words what I would like to do is, just as I can in a photo editor free select my target , invert my selection and, apply a filter surrounding just what I have selected ...
I hope that makes sense ..
    Thanks

Working with video isn't like working with still images (unless you export an image sequence). However, a few filters (like FCP's 3-Way Color Corrector) have a 'limit effect' feature and do allow you to select portions of the image based on hue.
For other filters/effects, you'll need to duplicate the clip above itself on the Timeline. Apply the filter you want to use to the upper clip. Also apply a garbage matte to the upper copy of the clip. Set the garbage matte so it outlines the area of the image to which you want to apply the effect. You can feather the edges of the matte if needed to soften the transition between the matted area and the unaffected area.

  • Clip name does not import with video file

I have a raw AVCHD file shot on a Sony FS-700. I imported all ~180 clips and moved them from the FCP X folder into a folder on my raid drive for use in multiple projects. The clip names at import are Clip #1, Clip #1, etc. etc. I then rename them in my finder window in their new location. The clips look great and playback great through Quick View and Quicktime. However, I run into a problem when I import them from their new location into a new event. The clip which is named 'FCP X Import' will import and be labeled 'Clip #89'.
I would like to remain naming them in Finder if at all possible. This might be a Yosemite error or just my workflow. Workflow is: I edit directly after the event with imported media from the raw file and use the 'Clip #89' first then move, then rename to 'FCP X Import', then reuse for other features (which is where the problem occurs).
Note: Clips do bring in Finder tags. For example, if I label it red the clip will retain that tag in FCP X
    Thanks.

It would be quite helpful to know what format the footage is, what camera it came from.
First thing to try is this, assuming AVCHD or similar footage type from SD card -
Copy ENTIRE card contents to hard drive, not just video clips. In Premiere, Import using the "Media Browser". See if that helps

  • Is there any way to have the clip name show up in the video

is there a way to have the clip name (kind of like a title) automatically?  I do highlight videos and for the early versions I upload it with clip numbers to make it easier to identify the clips to move them around.  My clip names are the same as those numbers...if I could just show the clip name when I upload the video it would save me a TON of time.  Anyone know of a way to do that? Thank you!

safari remembers it's last window position when you close it. so next time you start it will open in the same position it was when you quit it last. that's the only control available. there is no other way to fix the safari starting position.

  • Get the instance names of clips attached to a movieclip

I want to get the instance names of all the cmovieclips that
    are attached to a movieclip.
Is there a simple way to do this.
I imagine this is something that can be done with AS3 but can
    it be done with AS2?
    regards J

    you're welcome.
FYI: a for...in loop loops through all the accesible
properties (in the broadest sense of the meaning, includes
methods/functions and variables etc). Each time it finds one it (in
this case) assigns the property name to the variable 'unknown'
the code inside the loop just checks
    a) is it a property that references a movieclip instance and
    b) is it the same property name as the movieclip instance's
_name property (this is to avoid listing additional references to
the same movieclip instance that may be set up as variables in your
    McA's scope).
I just read that and I'm wondering if it actually will help
you understand... its quite complicated to describe,sorry...
although its simple to understand once you get used to it. To learn
you should experiment with a few for.. in loops on different
objects and see what trace outputs you get.
