Get a genuine windows OS
After registering my notebook with toshiba and microsoft, i've bee getting this message that I don't use a genuine windows OS. I also noticed that I've not been able to install updates to all microsoft software on my equium laptop. When I copy text/image from the internet on any microsoft office, it doen't paste as the package stops responding when I paste. I think all these is due to the 'get a genuine winodw' message.
I hope to get help about this asap, thanks.
On the
> page that has the "Validation Incomplete" text and
> the 0x80080299 error in the upper right corner,

This poster is correct. I've been having the same problem after performing a full reinstall on my 5005-s507 and after going through the validation test it all now seems to be working again..
On the page that accuses you of being a nasty criminal pirate, click the the link that says something like "How to find out if your copy of windows is genuine" Unfortunately can't remember the exact text used, but the link is on the right-hand side of the page somewhere..
On the next page, click on the "Windows XP Validation assistant" (again.. can't remember the exact text, it's in a boxout on the left, just above a similar validation tool for MS Office) ...
Now just follow the steps it tells you. First it download the validation tool and will check your OEM serial, it will (hopefully) find it to be valid.
... I don't know if you have to go through the next section, but I did...
Next it will ask you questions about the OEM sticker on the bottom of the laptop. Answer all these questions until it gets to the point where it asks you about the type of CDs you received with your machine. It'll tell you that you received recovery CDs and that you should contact your machine manufacturer for support... ignore this, because Toshiba don't care anyway.
Close this window and just run software update again. It should (hopefully) now be working just peachy!
Hope this is of help.

How to i get my genuine windows 7
I have aspire V3-571g laptop. it comes with windows 7 but recently my os is corrupted so i installed windows 8.1 (piracy), now i want to install windows 7 on my pc. I downloded windows 7 iso from net and installed. When i try to activate the windows 7 with key which is on my laptop back side it is not worked.... how to get my Windows 7 Back...
As you have already installed Windows 8.1 on your system, there is less probability that the recovery partition on your Acer laptop exists. In your case, it is advised to contact Acer support using the following link and check what options you have at hand now:

Getting message that Windows 7 not genuine
I bought a Thinkpad X200 at the Lenovo Outlet that was supposed to have Windows 7 installed. Instead, it had XP and Lenovo had to send me disks for Windows 7. After working for over a year, I started getting a message "Windows 7 Build 7601. This copy of Windows is not genuine" and "You may be the victim of counterfeiting." When I try to fix it, it asks for a Product Key. But you can no longer read the label on the bottom of the laptop.
Most of the X200 machines did not have motherboards that were authorized to have windows 7 installed from OEM disks. It is possible you do not have the right extension segment in the BIOS (SLIC 2.1). Do you still have warranty remaining? If you click start then right click computer and select properties, what does it say?

How do I get support for Windows 7 on, and a W7 backup disk for, my new ThinkPad?
I know these have got to be stupid questions, since I am sure that they have to have been asked before (unless they are clearly explained somewhere that everyone else has found, and I am somehow completely missed it), but I did search the forums and was surprised NOT to find any info on getting Windows 7 technical support after it was factory installed in a month-old Thinkpad. I wonder if the apparent defects in my W7, or maybe a different problem in my browser, could be affecting my ability to search to forums?
I believe that my Windows 7 is defective, but calling Lenovo, they just talked about reinstalling Win7 from the partition, which makes no sense, if my W7 copy is defective, wouldn't the copy in the partition be defective too? My mom said she ordered a $20 W7 backup disk with the PC, but I never received it, and now Lenovo tech tells me those aren't actually available, and she must have confused it with the W7 upgrade disk, which didn't sound right, since I thought the upgrade disk was over $100, and I never received that one either anyway. If the W7 that was factory-installed is defective, I am assuming it's a copy of the same one in the partition, so that partition recovery is not feasible, is there any way to reorder a W7 re-install disk that will still register as Genuine Windows 7 on a Thinkpad? Now when I search the Lenovo site, I cannot find ANY W7 disks of any kind, neither a backup for factory-installed W7, nor for upgrade from a prior Windows version. Does anyone know how I could go about re-ordering the W7 backup disk when it appears to be missing from the online catalog? Unless this too is a defect in my browser search: can someone give me the link to page where I could select and re-purchase a W7 backup disk?
It has been a few years since I had a new PC, but I have never even heard of one before that did not come with instruction manuals and OS and support disks, and did not provide any tech support for its own factory-installed software or Windows, at least during the first few months of ownership. Where do new Thinkpad owners turn for individual W7 software support, since Microsoft swears it is Lenovo's responsibility to support W7 under its OEM license, yet Lenovo swears they only support hardware? It almost seems that new users are expected to know everything already, or be initiated enough with the product to know exactly what your problem is and what's causing it, in order to find an online fix. Who do you call if W7 or Lenovo software (but not an ISP issue) appear to be doing something to prevent online access, but there are no discernible hardware issues? Where do you call for individualized W7, as well as Lenovo software, support, especially after no one online has ever heard of your specific issues and has no workable ideas for fixing them, or when your problem prevents you from getting online at all?
Thanks so muchhttp://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/

I-mac superdrive doesn't recognise genuine windows disc
My late 2009 27" i-5 imac doesn't recognise the windows install disc when I insert it.
Running bootcamp 4.01, its a genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
doesn'tshow up on he desktop (or anywhere else) and is ejected after a few minutes.
' The installer disc could not be found' comes up
It isn't the disc as my old white intel core 2 duo macbook recognises it.
Is there anything I can do?
thanks in advanceit is indeed a superdrive problem. It plays everything apart from DVDs. It's now in the apple store getting a new superdrive.

Is it true that Mac's can get a genuine Virus? I've heard they can't.
Is it true that Mac's can get a genuine Virus? I've heard they can't.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it updated with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac. Without exception, they will do the opposite.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources. Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iTunes or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Disable Java in Safari > Preferences > Security.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Block browser popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > and check "Block popup windows":
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but popups have devolved to become a common means to deliver targeted advertising that you probably do not want.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever see a popup indicating it detected registry errors, that your Mac is infected with some ick, or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. To date, most of these attempts have been pathetic and are easily recognized, but that is likely to change in the future as criminals become more clever.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgement, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind. -
Hi guys! I know someone else has had this, though I couldn't find it on the boards. About a month ago my computer started turning my screen saver into a black screen. The main problem is I'm getting this ""This copy of windows in not geniune"", and ''you may be a victim of counterfit software''' and to resolve now. Problem is, everything I run says I am using Genuine Windows, which I knew. This is very irritating. I want to upgrade to Windows 10 when I get it, but I can't do that. When this first started I reset the system back to original condition (recovery disk). I have a feeling this is something to do with the HP Support Assistant for some reason. Thanks in advance for any help!
Hello , Welcome back to the HP Support Forums! I read your post about the black screen, and wanted to assist you! Please have a look at the following resource, as it may help to resolve the issue for you:How to fix This Copy of Windows is not genuine on Windows 7, 100% working (Not a HP supported Web site). Please let me know if this information was helpful by clicking the thumbs up below.

No updates installed, error 80004002, not Genuine Windows
About a month ago WU started reinstalling 5 or so updates over and over. I have tried all the suggestions in these forums with no luck. As near as I can tell no one else was ever able to recover from this problem.
After one of the many reboots from trying the various attempts to fix including downloading and running the "windowsupdateagent30-64.exe", "WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab", and "MicrosoftFixit.wu.RNP.1346062406214304.3.1.Run.exe"
my firewall wanted permission to let WGA run and of course I did since I have had this computer for more than a year and know it is "Genuine Windows". So now I have the added problem of win7 telling me I do not have "Genuine Windows".
I was at the point of attempting to try the inplace upgrade but I am afraid it will still think this is not "Genuine Windows"
Please help. How can I get rid of this not Genuine Windows.Post your issue to the Windows 7 Genuine Issues forum. Here are the instructions on how to produce a diagnostic:

Diagnostic Report:
To properly analyze and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the diagnostic report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop -http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once downloaded, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, after a short time, the Continue button will change to a Copy button.
Click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your post.
One
Issue Per Thread:
Most Activation and Validation issues look the same, on the surface, but can have many different causes and fixes. This is why we ask for a diagnostic report and this is also why we ask that you create your own thread for your issue (in other words,
don't post your issue in another person's thread).
It just becomes too complicated to try to troubleshoot multiple different issues in the same thread.

Can you factory reset a laptop with a non genuine Windows 7?
A few years ago, my mother bought a laptop for a pretty good price from some guy. After a few days, it gave her a message that Windows 7 on that laptop was not genuine. Then I started using it and downloaded a program to get rid of the message and allow me to set pictures as my background. The laptop, over time, became slow and the memory was quickly being used (only because there was no antivirus on it and it barely had any memory). I gave it to my cousin, and my mother asked for money for it.
As I was ridding the laptop of all the useless programs it would no longer need, the thought of factory resetting never crossed my mind. Today, I thought of it, and I was wondering if it's possible to factory reset a laptop that doesn't have a genuine Windows. Or would it mess it up? As soon as my cousin gets another charger for it, I wanted to try it out and see if that would speed the laptop up by a lot and make it feel brand new. Or would Windows be gone or ask for an activation code?Just so no viewers get confused, it's the 9 GB partition that contains the recovery image. So if you don't have that big one, you can't restore from the disk.
The 1.46 GB partition is marked Active because it has the boot files. It also contains the recovery environment. (Microsoft likes to name the partition with Windows the Boot partition, but it doesn't have the boot files.)

Hi, after installing Adobe CC I tried opening Adobe Photoshop. This failed.
I get the opening window where it says installing plugins searching etc, after which PS opens in full screen.
Just moments after that there's a failure warning, no code number, only the warning that PS failed to open and PS will close.
I tried downloading it for a second time, but this did'nt solve the problem.
Befor the CC version I used a one year student version of Adobe CS6.
What can I do?Regarding the Flash Player problem, disable Hardware Acceleration to circumvent driver incompatibilities.
Regarding the Flash Pro installation problems, post in the Flash forums or http://forums.adobe.com/community/download_install_setup -
When on a page if I click on a web link I get a new window that is blank and asks me enter a web address. This started happening with the new 3.6 version. It seems to have something to do with what I choose for the location in my privacy settings as the window changes with each setting but I still cannot get to the new site. Any ideas? I have no problem with this in IE and I have to keep opening IE when I encounter the problem on Firefox which is annoying.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See:
* [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit") -

Get back to Windows 8 is a lenghthy task. I don't know why Microsoft's done this. You are not alone:

The following option may be a little bit late for you:

Hope the following link helps:

Regards.
ps Just FYI, one of my machines crashed during Windows 8.1 upgrade and I had to rebuild it from Windows 7 (I upgraded it to Windows 8 and the Windows 8 upgrade DVD won't install w/o Windows 7). I won't touch to other two unless in few months times MS releases few "holes".
