Get Acrobat to Login to Adminui vs. Rights Management App

I am using Rights Management on LiveCycle 8.2 and managing my users in ES. A problem I am encountering is that certain operations, like revoking documents launch the URL to have the user login to the Rights Management app. But since my users aren't configured there, the logins do not work.
Is there a way to reconfigure either Acrobat or the Rights Management App to redirect appropriately?

Apparently not with respect to Rights Management. I have been told that this was deliberately designed this way and has to do with Policy Server being a stand alone product at some point.
The User store for LiveCycle isn't shared with the legacy Policy Server application and that is the URL that the native applications (such as Acrobat or the Office RM Extensions) direct to from certain menu options. The URL format is as follows : http://localhost:8443/edc? Etc.  That application seems to use a separate store altogether as I can not even log in using my administrator credentials.

  • How do I get Acrobat IX to work on my Adobe Mobile App?

My purchase for Acrobat Pro IX updated the Mobile Reader App on my iPad to subscribe to "ExportPDF" but not to "PDF Pack" where I can create Pdf files on the go, how to I get the Pack Subscription active so I can continue to work on my documents on iPad? I have already contacted your "chatty chat" support and they told me they are not trained in answering support questions and that I would need to get my questions answered here.

    Hi,
Acrobat IX (9) Pro is a desktop app.  Unfortunately, the purchase of Acrobat Pro does not activate the Adobe PDF Pack or Export PDF subscription.  To use Adobe PDF Pack in Adobe Reader for iOS on your iPad/iPhone, you need to purchase it separately.
Please note that Adobe PDF Pack includes the Export PDF functionality.
So if you already have the Adobe Export PDF subscription, you may be able to cancel it and purchase the Adobe PDF Pack subscription instead.
This is a user forum.  We would be happy to answer technical questions regarding the usage of Adobe Reader for iOS.  But we are not able to process any subscription-related requests (e.g. upgrade, cancelation, or renewal of subscriptions) in this forum.  Sorry for the inconvenience.
How do I cancel my Adobe subscription?
Please let us know if you have additional questions.

  • Rights management setup

would someone tell me the rights management setup step by setp? thank you very much!

CREATE USER WITH ‘RIGHTS MANAGEMENT USER’ ROLE
Using the LiveCycle AdminUI, create a local user with the role “LiveCycle Rights Management User”
ENSURE HTTPS ACCESS TO THE RIGHTS MANAGEMENT WEBUI
Please note that the ‘Administrator’ user cannot login to Rights Management by default.
If the server is using a self-signed certificate, import the certificate to the local Windows certificate store. If this is not done, Acrobat will throw this error:
“Unable to connect to the service. SSL protocol error. Certificate is either invalid or common name or authority are not recognized.”
Launch your browser. Point it to the SSL over HTTP URL of the server such as follows:
    https://lces2.adobe.com:9443/edc/Login.do
In IE8, you will get a message that says “There is a problem with this website’s security certificate.”
    1) Click “Continue to this website (not recommended).”
    2) At the top, to the right of the URL field, there shoul be a button that now says “Certificate Error”.
    3) Click it. Then click the link “View Certificates”.
    4) Click the button ‘Install Certificate”
    5) Let the wizard guide you through the install. Choose “Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate”.
    6) If everything went fine, you should get a message that says “The import was successful”.
    7) Click OK
    8) Load the same URL again (https://lces2.adobe.com:9443/edc/Login.do). This time you should not get a certificate error. Instead, the Rights Management login page should load.
In Windows Vista, instead of letting IE choose the certificate store based on the type of certificate, choose the radiobutton ‘Place all certificates in the following store’, click ‘Browse’ and then choose ‘Trusted Root Certification Authorities‘.
For Firefox, you choose the link “Add an exception”. Click ‘Get Certificate” and then “Confirm Security Exception”.
CONFIGURE ADOBE READER OR ADOBE ACROBAT
    - Choose the menu option Advanced->Security Settings
    - Highlight “Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management Servers” and click ‘New’
    - Put something useful in the name field such as “Test Adobe RM”.
The Server Name should be the fully resolvable DNS name of your server, or that of the Reverse Proxy.
    - Change port from 443 to the SSL port of the appserver instance that hosts LiveCycle. This can also be the port on which SSL is configured for the Reverse Proxy (usually 443). In our example, it is 9443.
    - Click “Connect to this Server”
    CONFIGURE BASE URL FOR POLICIES
Login to the LiveCycle AdminUI. Navigate to Services->LiveCycle Rights Management->Configuration->Server Configuration. Change the ‘Base URL’ to a valid URL such as https://lces2.adobe.com:9443. This URL is a CRITICAL part configuration. If this URL becomes invalid at a later time due to domain registration expiry, corporate acquisitions, server certificate expiry etc, all of the documents published up to that point with this URL will be become totally useless.
    Cheers,
    Vipin

  • LiveCycle Rights Management questions

    1. When user is authenticated (via LDAP), then during policy creation process, at the "Add User or Group" page [https://aps8:8443/edc/UserGroupSearchWizard.do ], unable to find any users or groups. Any ideas what the problem is? From the adminui page [https://aps8:8443/adminui/secured/admin.faces] find users and group is not a problem.
    2. When trying to open a policy (policy on LC8) enabled pdf from Acrobat 8.x, I get this Acrobat Security error. "You are attempting to connect to an Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server using an insecure protocol (http). The connection attemp has been cancelled. Use the https protocol instead..."
I have been using the same PC and openning policy (policy on LC7) enable pdf without such error. How to resolve this error.
    3. How can I disable http and use only https for LC8 adminui and Rights Management pages?
    Thanks!

    Problems above solved for now.
But still getting log-in problem (user account can not log-in) to LC Rights Manamagent page with user accounts that have multiple LC Rights Management roles.

  • Rights managment off line permit question

I set a policy to allow off line for 2 days as well as an off line permit for a group with in the policy. Then I opened it and checked the policy, and found it set correctly. When I tried to open it again off line it gave me a message that the computer must be connected to the Internet to open the document. What did I do wrong??

For a document to be opened offline, a "Principal Key" for the user who has "offline" permissions is required on the client system that is being used to view the document.
If the document has been opened while online, then the synchronization should be occurring in the background.  If the document has never been opened, and no synchronization (of principal keys) has occurred, then the document will not open offline.  Each time a connection is established between Acrobat or Reader with the Rights Management server, the client should synchronize with the server and get any principal keys that related to documents that the user has offline permissions.
Try forcing a synchronization, from Acrobat select Advanced > Security > Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management > Synchronize for Offline.  If you are using Reader, select Document > Security > Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management > Synchronize for Offline
    Regards

  • Can't get rid of login screen on initial startup.  Any Idea's?

I have an iMac with a 21.5 inch screen, recently upgraded to Lion.  The problem is when I power up in the morning I get a grey screen wanting my password, and below that, the option to sleep, restart or shutdown.  If I restart, it comes right back to the login grey screen.  If I enter my password, it will open up to the normal blue galaxy screen, but doesn't recognize my audio interface.  So I have to restart again and everything is fine.  I only get the grey login page on the initial startup.  I called an Apple technician and he couldn't solve the problem.  I am the only person using my computer, so I dont need to login everyday.  I also re-installed Lion to no effect.  Anyone have any idea's?  login at startup is un-checked.  Thanks!

System Preferences->Users & Groups->Login Options->Automatic Login (then choose your account name in the menu)
If you're sure it's set that way...
Try creating a new user account and setting Automatic Login to log in to that account. Does it bypass the login screen now? If so, the problem is with your primary user account.

  • How to get acrobat XI trial to convert a word document to PDF without getting error message

I downloaded a trail version of acrobat XI to try converting some word 10 doc to a PDF I keep getting "Unable to open document;" when I right click and get the drop down menu. I have been unable to get the adobe tab to appear ether as a tab or in the Add-In tab.
I have Visual C++ 2010 will reinstall if it is need.

I think on this occasion the problem is not PDF to Word, but Word to PDF.
It seems that Acrobat is not integrated in Word. Until it is, no method of conversion will work.
So, second question is which version of Word (as well as, which OS as Bill@VT asked)?

  • How do I get past the login screen?

    Hey all,
I just bought a nice new MacBook Pro 15" 2.66 GHz and am happy with it so far.
The problem is I had to buy it because my PowerBook G4 12" decided to die on me. It happened slowly over the course of a weekend. The PB started to get really slow, and I knew it wasn't because of the internet, just figured I had overloaded the hard drive. So I started to move files to an external hard drive. It was slow and every hour or so an application would freeze, and I couldn't force quit, so I would have to shut down. Eventually it got to the point that I wasn't even running other programs, just trying to transfer files, and I would get the swirly rainbow circle.
I transferred most of the files, except for my iTunes collection. I figured, no problem, I have my iPod.
I ordered the new computer, and have realized, that I can't transfer my iTunes collection through my iPod. And now, my PBG4 can turn on, and get me to the login screen looks like it's going to boot up, but goes right back to the login.
Is there anything I can do to bypass the login? I've tried to start it in safe mode, but the PB won't even get to the login screen after 30 minutes of waiting. I also tried holding shift while logging in, but no dice.
I have an ethernet cable, and know that if I can log on, I'd be able to move my info somehow, please help!
    Thank you, Lindsey

    artschic:
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Congratulations on your new MacBook Pro. You'll love it.
In terms of your PowerBook G4, apparently your Hard Disk Drive has failed completely and I am not sure what else it wrong.
    First, try this:
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Locate the following keys: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously later.
    • Turn on the computer.
    • Press and hold the Command + Option + P + R keys immediately after the startup chime.
    • Hold keys down until you hear the startup chime for the third time.
    • Release the keys and immediately hold down Shift key to start up in Safe Mode.
    • Log in and empty Trash.
    • Restart normally and log in.
If that does not work try Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it says anything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need to use a utility like Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior
If still no dice, try the procedure outlined in the article Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck.

  • IMac purchased at garage sale help. Gets stuck at "Login Window Starting."

    Hi all,
I recently purchased an iMac at a barn sale, and it turns on and everything, but then gets stuck at "Login Window starting" screen (http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/tt135/gpd2paul4/IMG_0251.jpg). When Goggling this problem, I see that I am not alone in thee problem, but I am alone in the fact that I don't even know what model it is (I think G3, but not sure), let alone have the original CDs or paperwork. I have tried holding 'shift' right after the startup chime to start up in safe mode, but it still gets stuck at "Login Window starting." I have attached a few pictures of the computer to help you veteran Mac users identify it, which might help you help me. Any help is appreciated. (Step-by-step instructions are best, I am good at using a Mac, but this is getting pretty technical.)
    Thanks!!!

Try holding down the shift key when powering on. This will skip a few programs from loading.
Hold down the shift key when booting into Mac OS X. this will check your file structure and do a repair. This will also leave off some files from being used.

You need to figure out the level of your firmware before installing 10.2 or greater. ( The PC name for firmware is BIOS. ) Installing 10.2 with a down level firmware will most likely make your iMac unusable and difficult to fix.
    What is firmware?
The firmware software receives control when you poweron your machine. It does some hardware testing and some hardware configuration then passes control to your version of Mac OS. It reside on a PROM ( program read only memory ) chip on the logic board.
Open Firmware, boot into Open Firmware.
Power on your iMac while holding down commandoption+of
The first output line contains the firmware level. Mine reads:
    Apple PowerMac4,1 4.1.9f1 BootRom built on 09/14/01 at 13.18.04
    Copyright 1994-2001 Apple Computer Inc.
On my machine, I have 4.1.9f1.
    What firmware do you need?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86117
For a slot loading iMac, this article indicates that you need to be running 9.1 or later version of Mac OS Classic.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75130
"The iMac Firmware Update 4.1.9 will only run on iMac computers with lot-loading CD or DVD drives running Mac OS 9.1 or later from a local drive. If you are using Mac OS X you must boot from a local Mac OS 9.1 or later writeable partition (not a CD, or network disk) prior to following the update instructions."
You can download the Mac OS 9 updates from the Apple site.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1387?viewlocale=en_US
For tiger, you need 256meg of memory.
Mac OS X 10.4: System requirements
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1514
There is no need to partition. You can save hard drive space by doing a custom install. Leave out the print drivers you do not need and the languages you do not need. Doing so you will need about three gigabytes of space.
You need to get into single use mode.
This page will tell you how to get into single user mode.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1492
Basically, you hold down the command-s key then powering on your machine. The command key has a little apple symbol on the lower left. It is between the alt/option key and the space bar
When you are in single user mode, you are in Unix. you can try looking in the log files to see if you can find anything.
To see the current boot log you use the dmsg command.
    dmsg
    startup information is in /var/log/system.log
to display the last 500 lines use the tail command.
    tail -n 500 /var/log/system.log | more
For these commands you will need to gain write access to your startup disk. There are some comments at the end of the startup process that list the needed commands.
    mac $ ls -lF ~/zztemp.txt
ls: /Users/mac/zztemp.txt: No such file or directory
    mac $ tail -n 500 /var/log/system.log | cat > ~/zztemp.txt
    mac $ nano ~/zztemp.txt
    mac $
I assume the message contained /Library/Logs/CrashReporter. Do a change directory:
    cd /Library/Logs/CrashReporter
    mac $ pwd
    /Library/Logs/CrashReporter
    mac $ ls
    ???.crash.log VoiceCenter.crash.log
    Exited process.crash.log
    mac $ tail -n 400 \?\?\?.crash.log
    Host Name: ???

  • Customizing LiveCycle Rights Management login page

    Hi,
I would like to know how to customize the login page of Right Management (and if possible the AdminUI one). In the Adobe documentation, I've only found how to customize the login page of LiveCycle WorkSpace, but nothing for the other modules.
Do you have any hint for this customizaton ?
    Thanks

We don't provide the source code for adminui like we do for Workspace.

  • Pls help me.. unable to get past mac login sreen!!

Hello people, This is my first post and after much searching i am praying someone can help..!
I have a mac g5 dual, and i am having a really annoying problem, my mac keyboard is not working, sometimes some of the keys work but others dont, or none of the keys work, or when i press a button it types a different letter or types 2 or 3 at once!!
Therefore i can not get past the login screen as the keys needed for thre password do not work!! not even when i try to log into admin!!
I have purchased a new keyboard today, (wireless apple) but i can not get that to work as i need to pair it to the mac before it will work but i cant pair without getting past the login screen!!!
typical that this should happen on my only couple of days off too!!
    pls HELP ME
    thanks in advance..

Yeah, I tried every port available.
Is there anyway at all i can get into the system settings with a shortcut on startup?
Then again Im still not sure that the keys will work to use a shortcut.
Its odd because i managed (just) to login earlier in the day, but the keyboard just seemed to get steadily worse until none of the keys worked!!
    Cheers Dale
    any other ideas??

  • When I get to the login page on my macbook, I type in my password and it starts to load, but then the screen turns blue and it goes back to the login. What should I do?

I was having some problems with my mac, safari and itunes was freezing alot. I have to force shutdown and when I tried to start up again i get to the login page, type in my password and it starts to load, but then the screen turns blue for a few seconds and it goes back to the log in screen. What should I do?
    Please Help!!

    Somewhat similar problem:
Put in the password, hit enter, the screen goes blue for half a second, then goes back to login screen and carries on logging in as usual.  Drives me mad.  It doesn't happen with a fresh Lion installation, nor if booted into safe mode.  On the machine in question it also happens to new user accounts.
I've removed all login items, including Startup Items and Launch Demons (pun intended) and Agents, I've compared system login plists with a fresh Lion installation - can't see differences.  I've removed Little Snitch and PeerGuardian (no more third party kexts).
@Carolyn: I've done disk maintenance with DiskUtility and fsck and even DiskWarrior, cleaned caches, etc. etc.
Any ideas would be gratefully received.
Sorry for trying to hijack the thread (as it's not about Lion), but it seemed dead anyway.

When I get to the login page on my macbook, I type in my password and it starts to load, but then the screen turns blue and it goes back to the login.
Iv tryed this numerious times still keeps going back to pasword. Can not get any further. Tried restart holding shift key.. still nothing. What do i do?

    Thank you for your help.
I couldnt get to the hard drive/ desktop. Soft login not even working. So i could not do any of that.
In the end i took it to Apple and its actually the hard drive on its way out. A common issue with that series of Mac. Funny seeing i dont use this mac much. However being 2.5 years old and out of warrently, Apple have recognise this issue with this series/ Model and installing a new hard drive at no cost.
Very luck and greatful. And not feeling so dumb that it was something i did or could troubleshoot myself.
Hope this helps others that it just might be your hard drive failing.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
