Get ADD-ONS window not working

Firefox 4.
Select TOOLS, Add-ons.
Brings up window that says
"When you are connected to the internet, this pane will feature some of the best and most popular add-ons for you to try out."
I was connected to the internet and I don't get the available add-ons. Tried multiple times

Try "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the Safe mode start window.

• FireFox 3.6.9 Add-ons window not working, add-ons not loading

After upgrade add-ons do not load.
In Add-ons window, no data; all add-ons disappeared;.
Also clicking < Browse all Add-ons > produces nothing, does not link to site.
Navigate toa site to download an add-on: Add-ons window appears but no data or appearance of files or anything. So< Install> button therefore does nothing.

You can delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.
See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
If you see disabled extensions that are not compatible on the next start in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button to do a compatibility check.

• Foxfire 6.0 add-ons manager not working, says "loading", get nothing, now what?

Just received an update and some add-ons were disabled. Clicked on "Tools", "add-ons". Tab opens and says "Loading" but nothing loads and I can't do anything with add-ons manager. Is there a fix?

Thanks for the suggestions. When you click on Tools and then Add-ons, theAdd-on Manager launches, and by default "Get Add Ons" is selected. Although I was not getting any response other than "Loading", if I then click on Extensions or Appearance or Plugins, I was getting a proper response from those three. After doing that and closing out Add-ons Manager and then relaunching it, my original problem disappeared. Now everything works fine. I tested it multiple times and is still OK. Can't explain it but OK for now. Maybe the Get Add-ons portion of the Web site was down at the times I was testing it? I'll keep a watch on it. Thanks for your speedy reply.

• 'Get Add-ons' page not loading at all..

I'm tryign to get some add-ons for Firefox but when I got to Tools/Add-ons.. and then click the 'Get Add-Ons' tab I see the page 'Loading' banner and it get's stuck there for over half an hour now.
I have completely reset Firefox and even installed a clean copy but still not working.
Any help please?

• My add-ons are not working

My add-ons appear in Tools Add-Ons. They are all enabled. But they are not working, including Greasemonkey. Then, Firefox does not respond and hangs.
What the heck is going on with this new version of Firefox? It is one problem after another. There may be more problems that I have not yet discovered. Is it possible to revert to the old version?

The current version of Greasemonkey is compatible with Firefox 29. Could you check to make sure it is not turned off? There should be a "monkey" icon on the toolbar. Clicking that icon turns Greasemonkey on and off; the "off" state is designated by a faded icon, while the "on" state has a full-colored icon.
More generally, could you check for possible extension updates and disable unimportant extensions in case one of those conflicts with Firefox?
Open the Add-ons page using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, look for the "gear" button above the list and choose Check for Updates.
I also suggest disabling any extensions you won't be using for the next 24 hours so that you can test whether that improves Firefox's functioning.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Any difference?
One possible reason for hangs, especially where you eventually get a dialog indicating that a script is running slowly, is Flash. To minimize sites from using Flash unnecessarily, try setting Flash to Click-to-Play ("Ask to Activate"). This will delay Flash from starting on a page until you approve it.
On the Add-ons page, in the left column, click Plugins. Look for "Shockwave Flash" and change "Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate".
When you visit a site that wants to use the Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.
Any noticeable difference?

• Adobe acrobat add ons does not work with latest firefox

I have been using firefox because of my adobe acrobat add ons.. I alwasy convert pages to adobe pdf using my acrobat. It works with firefox 4.0 but it does not work anymore with latest firefox.
Can you help me with this?

Maybe if you read about privacy, policy and sharing of data you'd change your mind. But it was reported that it appeared to work if you used something like the "Add-ons Compatibility Reporter".
You can force 5.0 "compatibility" with the "Add-on Compatibility Reporter" extension, or with extensions.checkCompatibility using about:addons.

• Many add-ons do not work when upgraded to Firefox 3.6.10 on mac

After upgrading to v3.6.10, my Firefox kept on crashing when I attempted to open the app. I had thought that it could be a particular wrong move to install a recently-added new plug-in iMacros to the browser.
However, after around 8 attempts at reinstallation with individual plugins/add-ons (eg. Xmarks, etc), Firefox was unable to startup. From my attempts, I believe it might be some error with the new version that might clash with the other plugins that were previously installed.
I hope some solution can help solve this problem as I would like to try out the new 3.6.10, but since I don't have the previous installer, I have to resort to using a back-dated 3.5.5 version of Firefox.

Glad to hear I am not alone in this. Same time frame too. But at 11 pm on 15.10 equally suddenly firefox started working again, and now seems fine.
Errr?
(glad I have Safari to fall back on)
The aspxerrorpath has disappeared from the header.
Hey, Firefox, what is going on ?

• Adblock add ons are not working upon update to Firefox 15

I upgraded to Firefox 15 with AdBlock Plus and suddenly I am seeing ads and am not able to block anything or add new subscriptions. I reset Firefox and installed AdBlock Lite, but am still experiencing problems with seeing ads. Two days ago, I was not seeing ads and now I am.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try some of the following programs to scan for malware:

* TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility

• After upgrading to 20.0.1 cannot open a new window (CTRL+N) and no add-ons seem to work (apart from adblock plus).

Unable to open new window (but able to open new tabs).
Sometimes unable to open Add-ons tab.
The add-on extensions do not seem to be working, even though they seem to be ENABLED (except adblock plus).
When restarting in safe mode, or disabling ALL add-ons the browser works normally, thus new windows open, add-on tab opens etc.
Tried to enable one thing at a time, but it seems that when enabling WHICHEVER TWO add-ons, firefox starts acting "weirdly" (no new windows etc.).
Tried disabling hardware acceleration, but it didn't solve the problem.
Tried uninstalling firefox and then reinstalling. At first it all seemed working perfectly well: new windows opened, extensions working etc. But after a couple of restarts (of firefox and computer) it all got back to the same situation.
Tried uninstalling ALL add-ons and everything worked well. After installing the SECOND add-on and restarting firefox things get "wrong" again.
It all started after upgrading to Firefox 20.0.1.

• Windows 7x64 FF 28 renders internal "Get Add-ons" page as text only

Setting up five new Acer Veriton E430G Windows 7 x64 desktop machines for work, each has been Windows live updated to latest spec as of end of March '14. All were brand new factory pre-installed Windows 7 x64, all have had the same set of software individually installed, Adobe Flash player, Adobe Shockwave, Acrobat Reader, QuickTime, Oracle Java 8x32 and x64, Picasa, 7-Zip, LibreOffice, Skype and of course Firefox 28.0. All have the exact same behaviour in that when the "Welcome to Firefox" first run page displays, it displays in text only with a large grey box "No video with supported format and MIME type found. If you go to Tools\Add-Ons\Get Add-ons, the internal page displays in full text only as well - no graphics, same problem when you load "Plugins" page and click "Check to see if your plugins are up to date", the following page/tab loads as text only.
After taking one of the machines brand new out of box and creating an Acronis snapshot of the entire drive [factory install before first run] using it as a test install, I played around with a number of software / driver / updates / Firefox add-ins scenarios trying to get to the bottom of this. I have come to a dead end in as much as all runs great within Firefox, web pages from all internal pages and many on-line websites render correctly when I load a previous version of Firefox [v26.0 or v25] rather than the latest v28.0 onto each of the machines, I tried v27.01 & v27.0, these gave the same text based pages. This has been replicated successfully on the other four machines with all of the above listed latest software versions installed [no AntiVirus software installed yet as not fully in use in Office yet], change nothing else other than load the latest version v28.0 Firefox and the problem reappears.
I did for the sake of completeness test the brand new factory install just past 'first boot set-up' and first time desktop hello, let everything settle and installed Firefox v28.0, [tested with v27.01 & v27.0] this too exhibits the exact same text only page rendering on internal Firefox pages. Yet again, over install Firefox v26.0, clear history and the same pages start loading correctly.
I am open to suggestions regards a fix for this as I really do not want to leave the machines with old version Firefox installed on each desktop. I would also prefer not to allow each member of staff to install Google Chrome. The on-line web pages that were found to be loading as text only within Firefox 28.0 were tested and rendered correctly within Chrome 33.0.1750.154 and IE 11, this would indicate something to be clashing with Firefox or Firefox not behaving with something else. I would like to get this resolved.

Minor update and workaround but still no fix: installing and uninstalling testing versions of Firefox again - if I stick with the bare Windows 7 Acer factory install clean out of the box [temp turn off Microsoft auto update], attach an Ethernet cable to give me internet, install Firefox 28.0 I get text only [are these pages css base?] pages for internal "Get Add-ons" page / "Welcome to Firefox" 1st run page / Mozilla "Plugin Check & Updates" page.
If I then flush all history and close - over install 27.0.1 and repeat all of the above I get then same results. Flush all history and close again, over install 27.0 and repeat all of the above - same text based results, flush all history and close again, over install 26.0 and repeat all of the above and we have a winner. Firefox 26.0 does not have a problem displaying any of the pages correctly.
Working my way back up version numbers again, flush all history, close Firefox, over install 27.0 and repeat all of the above and we are back to text based pages.
I have tried a forked version of Firefox - "Pale Moon - v24.4.2" on the same machine and this gives the exact same text based results. Would this then not indicate that it is something in the base coding or settings of Firefox that has been changed after Firefox v26.0?
Chrome and IE are displaying these Add-ons and Plugin Checks pages with no fault, why not Firefox 27 /28 ?
In the interests of curiosity I decided to try some of the beta builds, namely 28.b9 and 29.0b7 - unfortunately same text based results :-(
If I cannot get this to work correctly with these machines I may have to concede and let the Office users select Chrome which I really do not want to do.
Can I run any more logs files and upload them to assist in diagnoses of this problem for a hopeful fix?

• IE 10 Windows 7 64 Bit: Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) does not run

Many of our Windows 7 laptops started having IE crashes dues to:
Description:
Faulting application name: IEXPLORE.EXE, version: 10.0.9200.17088, time stamp: 0x53eedc10
Faulting module name: urlmon.dll, version: 10.0.9200.17088, time stamp: 0x53eedc44
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00038a99
Faulting process id: 0x128c
Faulting application start time: 0x01cfe29e05a67b00
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
Faulting module path: C:\windows\syswow64\urlmon.dll
To troubleshoot, we have tried resetting IE 10 using Internet Options and rebooting.  Does not reliably fix this and even when it occasionally does, it is not a permanent fix.
I have also tried running Internet Explorer using the shortcut for Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).
When I click on the shortcut, there is an an hourglass for a second or two and then it just goes away.  The no add-ons mode never works and doesn't show an error.  It just does nothing.
iexplore.exe -extoff does not work or do anything
iexplorer.exe runs
iexplore -nohome runs
How can we find the cause?

Faulting module name: urlmon.dll, version: 10.0.9200.17088
Faulting module path: C:\windows\syswow64\urlmon.dll
That's actually a crash in a 32-bit tab task.  A  Stack Back Trace may give more clues.  (Once provided by drwsn32.log; now required to be extracted from a dump of the crashing thread.)
iexplore.exe -extoff does not work or do anything
iexplore -nohome runs
Try combining them.  If they both work together, this may be saying something about your Home page.  Then you may want to try changing that, e.g. try  about:blank  so you don't go near the TIF.  OR just try  Run... (e.g. press
Win-R and enter:)
iexplore.exe  -nohome  -extoff  about:blank
Good luck

When I go to get add-ons (7.0.1), nothing shows up, except the "what are add-ons" info bubble. How do I make this work?. The rest of the functions in that section seem to work. And I can search MY add-ons, but not Available Add-ons.

Click on Extensions on the left-side.

• My add-ons aren't working after I updated Firefox

I updated FF a week ago and my add-ons haven't worked since. They aren't in the browser, but they are in the list on the add-ons in the tool bar. When I try to click on 'Options' on one of the add-ons, it just freezes and doesn't do anything. I end up having to use the Task Manager to close FF. I also clicked the 'Find Updates' button on the Add-On thing, but there weren't any updates.
The only thing I noticed that are missing are my add-ons on the browser. Not my history, bookmarks, or anything else.
The most noticeable changes are my Session Manager and AdBlockPlus. I can't get to my previously saved session and that's a big bother. Watching ads on YouTube isn't very fun either.
I tried to do what's here https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Unable%20to%20install%20add-ons#w_corrupt-extension-files and delete extensions.ini, extensions.cache, and extensions.rdf
but there isn't the file extensions.ini for some reason..
None of the add-ons are disabled, and I tried to disable all of them and try them one by one, but it didn't work at all. I disabled all of them, then tried AdBlock Plus and it didn't work, so I don't think one of my other add-ons are causing the problem.

In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:
#From the Firefox window click the Firefox button at the top left and select Add-ons, or, if the Firefox button is not shown, click the Tools menu and click Add-ons.
#Once the Add-on Manager has opened in a new tab, click the Extensions button on the left side of the window.
#You should now see a list of your installed extensions on the right side together with buttons on the right side of each extension.
#To remove an extension from Firefox, simply click the Remove button. You should see a message that informs you about the successful removal of the add-on.
#Note that some add-ons require a Firefox restart to be removed completely. To perform a Firefox restart after the add-on removal, click the Restart now link in the message.
You can find further information about uninstalling extensions in the following articles:
Disable or remove Add-ons
Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page

• Lost use of all extensions with update to 3.6.11 ... Add ons window is locked

This morning, FF updated to 3.6.11. When I loaded FF no add ons were visible on the upper or lower tool bars. When I opened the Add Ons window, it locks up and will not allow me to access any options, disable, or uninstall. It also does not allow me to check for updates.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />
See Troubleshooting extensions and themes and Troubleshooting plugins<br />
<br />
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")<br />
