Get Album Artwork doesn't recognize mainstream artists

I ripped my mp3 collection from Audiograbber using Freedb (a free database for album info) and put them onto an external hard drive. I've added the folder to my iTunes music library, but when I try to get album artwork, it says "Could not get artwork for some albums." and lists albums from artists like Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin (48 in total). When I actually go look at each file, it has enough tag information to find the album (title - "Back in the Saddle", artist - "Aerosmith", album - "Rocks", genre - "Hard Rock"... everything it needs).
What about the file is iTunes not recognizing? Audiograbber uses ID3 tags.

So if the album isn't available in the iTunes store, it's not recognized? That's ridiculous. That's like saying if I don't buy through iTunes, I shouldn't use iTunes to sync my music to my iPod. That sounds like Apple again following only wherever the dollar goes.
Windows Media Player uses All Music Guide, which stores everything whether you can buy it through anybody or not. Apple makes great devices, but they're continually pushing me away from them because they put the almighty dollar first and me second. Hopefully Google will integrate their online music service and I won't have to worry about whether an album I can buy just about anywhere won't be recognized by Apple's proprietary dollar-munching service.

  • Error 609, "Get Album artwork" - doesn't happen

I haven't had problems with getting album artwork until now. I always make sure the artist and album are properly labeled and nothing else in iTunes is running. I now get error 609, where artwork won't download.

This solved itself when I upgraded to 10.5.8 and iTunes 9.0.2

  • Get Album Artwork doesn't load- the bar stays at zero.

When I secondary click, and select 'get album artwork', the bar at the top says 'proccessing album artwork' but the progress bar stays at zero. I've left it for almost ten minutes and it doesn't move at all. I restarted my computer and it doesn't help. I am connected to the internet, and the album exists in iTunes. Also, to be clear, I know that I can copy and paste or drag from the internet, but its much easier to just use the 'get album artwork' function. Help, please?

  • ITunes can't get album artwork for songs iTunes has in the store... how do i fix this?

i have a bunch of songs that either have the wrong album artwork or none at all.  the weirdest thing is that some of the albums are SOLD on iTunes. in fact, if i highlight one of my songs in iTunes, Ping sees it and shows me the correct cover art. BUT when i click "get album artwork", it tells me it cannot find the artwork. i've tried matching the text (song title, album title, artist, genre) exactly as it is in iTunes, but that doesn't help. it is doing this for about 60 of my albums and i don't know how to fix it. how can i get it to find the artwork?
also... when iTunes finds the WRONG artwork, how can i direct it to the correct one?

Albums, artists and complications must match precisely for iTunes to get a hit.  If you have a compilation, chances are you have a 'various artists' for an album artists ... there is a bit of a science to it.  I've managed to get most of my 'picky ones' to match.  But I have some that just won't - for whatever reason.

  • Artwork doesn't match song/artist

I purchased iTunes match recently and then turned it on my iPhone. Now some of the artwork doesn't match the artist. For example, whenever I play a Cher song the artwork for Rihanna shows up. This is not the case on my iMac. The artwork is correct in iTunes or if there is no artwork it is blank like it's supposed to be.
So far I am not impressed with iTunes match. There are too many problems with it. I wish I wouldn't have purchased it.
My question is: how can I get the artwork to match the artist? I've seen other suggestions, such as deleting the song and downloading it again, but it didn't work.

I had that problem also. what worked for me was finding the album art that you want from the internet and save it to the desktop and then goto itunes and right click on the album then get info then drag the album art onto artwork then click ok. after you do that to all the albums that you want it done to then goto store then update itunes match. after it is finish updating then goto your iphone and quit the music app and then open it back up. once it loads up then the art should be there. It might seem like alot but try doing that for 13000 songs like i had to do.

  • Having trouble getting album artwork for CDs that ARE in Music Store

I've got about 300 of my own CDs (not purchased through ITMS) on my computer and iTunes 7 only downloaded about 20 covers automatically. I have gone through and made sure all of my albums and artists are spelled correctly as well as putting all of the years of the releases.
I can not get any of the album artwork to download.
Also, the iTunes mini store doesn't open. When I click show mini-store, only a bold line on the bottom of the screen comes up, but the mini store does not open all the way.

When iTunes 7 was first released the iTunes store got swamped by people updating their artwork (like yourself), this meant it would often only manage to do a few albums at a time. In this situation telling it to try again (and again) was the solution.
However by now the number of users hitting the store should be lower and this less of a problem.
Another problem that affects me and others, is that the "Get Album Artwork" command only seems to search the US iTunes store (even if your account is logged in to a different country), this means that at best you might get the wrong artwork, and sometimes no artwork at all. Of course you are apparently in Florida and therefore would want to use the US store and so not be affected by this problem.
I see you have the misfortune to be using Windows XP, and even worse a Dull Inspiron! You might want to check to see if your firewall [you are using a firewall aren't you?] is interfering with iTunes contacting the iTunes store.
Rather than using the "Get Album Artwork" command in the "Advanced" menu, try instead selecting a single album, and right clicking and then selecting "Get Album Artwork" from the pop-up menu.
It might help if you give an example of a problematic album/artist/track name. Also can you confirm the format the track is in? WAV does not support embedded artwork for example.

  • How to get album artwork from amazon

How can I get album artwork from amazon ?

iTunes will only fetch artwork for albums that are on sale in the iTunes Music Store (and sometimes even that doesn't work if the info tags aren't identical). If you have a lot of albums that are older, obscure or simply not licensed for sale in the store iTunes won't add any artwork.
If the artwork isn't available in iTunes you can also add images of your own manually. You'll get information on both methods at this link: iTunes for Windows - Adding artwork to songs and other items
When you can't find the album covers you want from iTunes you can get them from various other sources. I find this site is a good source of artwork which you can copy to your computer: CD/Album Cover Art Search from SlothRadio.
Another place for finding suitable artwork is to go to Amazon. You can also locate artwork using Google image search and put the artist or album name. Locate the album from any of those sources, right click on the image and save it to the desktop, once it's there drag it to the iTunes artwork pane. Once you've added the artwork you can either delete the original file or keep it in a folder somewhere in case you need to use it again. Alternatively there are programs like these that help locate artwork: iTunes Art Importer or MP3 Tag
If you have a scanner you can create your own artwork files by scanning the CD cover itself, this is particularly useful when you are dealing with rare recordings.

  • ITunes 10.7.0.21 no longer 'gets album artwork'

It used to be the case until very recently, that you could always get the album artwork for tracks either imported from CD, or bought from other stores by choosing 'Get album artwork' from the right click menu, and sometimes you had to modify the name of the artist or album in order for it to match the iTunes one, but it doesn't work at all anymore. It always comes back with 'Artwork for xxxx could not be found'.
Has anyone else come accross this, and might know why, and how to fix it?
    Many thanks in advance.

I bet if you buy the songs from the iTunes store it will work.

  • Get Album Artwork won't work

Does anyone have any tips on how to get this feature to ever work right?
I recently just bought Hot Sauce Committee Part Two by Beastie Boys on CD. I import the CD into iTunes. Then i shift click on all the songs and right click and go to 'Get Album Artwork' and it tells me 'Could Not Get Album Artwork For Some Albums'
I have no idea what to do. When i imported the CD it imported it with the same exact spelling and spacing for the artist name and album title on itunes. But it acts like iTunes has never heard of this album. I can't update my Genius thing to be able to generate a genius playlist using any song from this CD either.
It's almost like iTunes won't accept or acknowledge any music that was not bought through the iTunes store.
please, does anyone have any clue on how to get itunes to act like this cd exists so i can make itunes get album artwork for it and allow it to be used for genius playlists?

iTunes will only place artwork for albums that are offered in the iTunes Store. Be it the song lengths or order or who knows what, it doesn't see it as matching.
This will have no effect on Genius Playlists. I have songs without album info or cover in my Genius results.
You can manually add the cover yourself from a pic/jpg/png instructions are here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1409

  • Get Album Art doesn't work

I've been confused by this since v.7 came out but it hasn't really bugged me till now.. but the Get Album Artwork function simply doesn't work for me. It doesn't do a **** thing. I click it and it seems like iTunes doesn't even do anything, and album artwork certainly does not appear in my library. Yes, I'm logged in to my iTS account.
Am I doing something wrong here? I haven't really been able to find someone else who has this problem.

    GM Axis,
I can understand your frustration, and since most of my music was purchased from the iTunes Store, and tend to be only 1 genre, I sat down with my wife's computer and her iTunes Library.
Once I got the tags for album and artist straightened out, we were able to find 100 out of 104 albums via the iTunes Store. However, the key was correcting spelling, and album names. For example: My son imported a bunch of Elvis CDs after hearing him in Lilo and Stitch. He spelled Presley as Prezley. Correcting the tags with Get Info takes a while. You can select all the songs from a specific album and Get info on that all at once, and change multiple items at once.
The others include B-side singles never released in the US we imported from tape, and an album by a group that was never on CD, and the regional label is out of business.

  • How can I get album artwork without using iTunes on the computer?

I used touchcopy to copy the songs off my ipod touch onto my new computer, so i could then load them onto my ipod nano. I have got the songs on the nano, and theyre still on my touch, but there is no album artwork on either. For my nano, i can use iTunes, but the computer my touch is synced to is, well, dead. So, is there a way to get the album artwork back on my touch?
Also, on my nano, it doesnt have any of the artists or album (name) for the songs
    Thanks

    Hi Wickster,
I have found the following resource that may provide more help:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Add artwork to songs and other items
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12361
Additionally, you can instruct iTunes to search and download artwork from the iTunes Store. To do so, click File > Library > Get Album Artwork

  • Getting Album Artwork for songs NOT in iTunes and ONLY on iPod

    Hello
Am I missing something obvious here? I am struggling with the album artwork feature for use in the coverflow section of the iPod Classic 80GB. I do NOT keep all of my songs in iTunes as my laptop hard drive is just not big enough.
My problem is that highlighting the songs on my iPod once I've connected it to iTunes then selecting Get Album Artwork simply doesn't work. Only trawling through countless forums on various websites I've discovered that possibly the artwork is only updated for songs you have in the iTunes library or only for songs bought on iTunes. I have 1000s of CDs I've uploaded onto my iPod (surely lots of people do not keep their music in iTunes for the same reason as me - small hard drive?)
There MUST be a software fix for this problem that could be issued out? Or if not, somebody should come up with a fix on an independent website. By the way, all of my tracks on the iPod have had their info obtained from the Gracenotes system used through iTunes so not having matching info to iTunes cannot be a reason for the lack of artwork can it?
I'd love to hear a solution to this problem.
    Thanks

My problem is that highlighting the songs on my iPod once I've connected it to iTunes then selecting Get Album Artwork simply doesn't work.
Correct. It's meant to access your iTunes library and add artwork from the iTunes store.
There MUST be a software fix for this problem that could be issued out?
Nothing that I know of because it's meant to work this way.
By the way, all of my tracks on the iPod have had their info obtained from the Gracenotes system used through iTunes so not having matching info to iTunes cannot be a reason for the lack of artwork can it?
No, because as I say, it's meant to add artwork in the iTunes library (although even this can sometimes be an issue if the album info obtained from Gracenote doesn't match what's in the iTunes store.)
If an iPod is set to manage the songs manually, then it's possible to add the artwork to the songs directly onto the iPod (when looking at them through iTunes) without adding it to the songs in iTunes. Just copy paste an album image from (say) Amazon into the artwork box in the bottom left corner when looking at the songs on your iPod through iTunes.
However, I have found that if you are adding artwork directly to the iPod via iTunes and not to songs in the library first of all, then some (or all) artwork may not display correctly.
