Get back the folders and contents that have disappeared
All of a sudden subfolders of my inbox for one of my accounts have disappeared, even though I can still see them (and their contents) when I access that account through outlook and the provider's webmail. I want to see them (and their contenets) in the thunderbird left hand panel once again.
right click the account in the left pane and select subscribe. Are the folders subscribed?

i just updated my latest java but the update is causing problems with some external devices. So i would like to uninstall this latest java update and get back the previous one. That should solve to problems with my external device.

Java broken some software here and there, all you'll have to do is wait for a update from the other parties. -
how can i say yes to automatic updates when they stop my wireless dlink to Virgin home broadband from getting on the internet and then i have to do a system restore to the day before the update to get it back to normal?!? Frustrated

Consider 10.8 (not 10.7) when it's released, because 10.7 and 10.8 will require a new investment in software and newer third party hardware as it requires newer drivers the old machines won't have. (forced upgrade because of software, really nice of them)

Far as your Safari problem do these things until it's resolved:
1: Software Update fully under the Apple menu.
2: Check the status of your plug-ins and update (works for all browsers) also install Firefox and see if your problems continue. You should always have at least two browsers on the machine just in case one fails.

I would like to duplicate the folders and apps that I have set up on my iPhone to my iPad. Is there a quick way of doing this without going through the whole process again manually?
You can restore your iPad with your iPhone backup but items that are iPhone only will not transfer. It should recreate all your folders. It can't hurt anything to try.

When installing maverick mailboxes disappeared, only have current emails. All the folders and content missing. Could anyone be of help. I do have Time Machine for backup.
Solved the problem by clicking the gray triangle next to "On My Mac" and drilled down!

my mac book air can't start installation, because i use windows installation in DOS to make partion, now no mac os on it. How to get back the mac os? i have a window based iso image from a friend, because in my country there is no Apple service.
It sounds like you destroyed your boot partition and the recovery partition. Depending on it's age, your MacBook Air might be able to do a net boot. Plug and ethernet connection into it and attempt to boot. If it has the right firmware, it will find a net boot configuration on the net and boot that. Then it will give you a Recovery Partition like display and allow you to reinstall the OS X version that came with it.... assuming that it was Lion or ML. If your computer came with Snow Leopard, then even the net boot won't work.
At that point you need a bootable USB Key, or an external DVD drive AND a Snow Leopard installation DVD.
An Apple Store, if there is one nearby, MAY be able to get you going again. However, whatever is on the SSD now will be toast too. -
Some times when I press the home button to read my finger the screen becomes black and it shows the Apple logo, this take a few seconds to get back the screen and this has been happening even 3 or 4 times in a row!
What should I do?Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

iTunes match is a mess. I am not going to go into all the details unless specifically asked but it's useless. Now that I've turned it off I have found that the songs that iTunes could not Match to the iCloud iTunes is no longer able to find! So it wants ME to manually match each song to the location on my hard drive. This is an Apple joke right?
There has got to be a better way! Restore from backup...love to! Will that pull all my music if I was using iTunes Match at the last synch? Help a girl out...I just want my music back.

Are you using iTunes on a Mac or a PC?
iTunes 10 or iTunes 11?
Did you add the files before turning on match, or after? or both (if both, which batch were the missing files in)?
After you turned on match, did you delete your files thinking you no longer need them?
Did you have iTunes set to copy and organize your files, or had you taken the manual route? (the settings are in iTunes Preferences, under "Advanced")
Have you recently renamed your hard drive, or some of your folders, or moved a folder that had music in it?
Does the location of your music library in iTunes Preferences --> Advanced match the actual location of your music?
Right-click one of the missing songs, and choose "Get Info" - does the location of the file match where it really is on the hard drive? If not, what's different?
Do you care about things like play counts, last played dates etc.? If not, you can just re-add all your music files (basically, start over fresh) -

I'm trying to get my old information (apps, music) from my iphone that was previously on a different account to sync on a new account. I just got a new macbook pro and got a new account to go with it. Now i have tried to homeshare the accounts and drag the music over to download it onto this new account but i can't get the homesharing to work because it says the password doesn't match even though i have used the same one to log on and off of homesharing on my mom's account. I have recently tried to back up my phone onto this new account and it asks if i want to authorize it and asks for the password for my mom's account. I have the password but i am hesitant to authorize it with my mom's apple ID and password because i don't want her account to be on this computer. I want it to be my own account just with my personal music from my iphone on it. I dont know if it will just sync my iphone's information to my new account or just add my mom's apple ID account to my itunes on my computer. A hidden SMS is snet to that number when you turn iMessage on and is used to verify your phone number. I suggest you turn iMessage off. In settings/phone turn on dial assist. Check with your carrier to see if you can send an international SMS as you end that possibility to activate iMessage. Rest your phone (Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).) then turn iMessage back on.

Contact Apple through iTunes Store Support, and explain that you have forgotten your 3 security questions, that you can reset your password, but doing so doesn't reset your security questions.
Explain that after resetting your password, you are still asked for the answers you have forgotten, before you can gain access to My Apple ID > Manage your account > Password & security, which is where you need to be to change your answers.
Remember, support will receive hundreds, if not thousands of requests per day, some from people trying it on, others with little explanation and others that are written extremely poorly. Take the time to explain your situation properly, be precise and concise, brief but comprehensive. -
How do I get back my tones and ringtones that I had on my 4 to my 4S?
I recently had to upgrade my 4 to a 4S. Then that one messed up so I had to restore it to factory settings. I did all the backups, but now I can't get any of my ringtones or tones to download back to my phone.

Thanks!!Backing up the phone and syncing the phone are two different things. How did you get the ringtones to the phone to start with? Were they ever in iTunes on the computer to start with?

Playlists - getting back the ease and functionality of iMixes
With iMixes, it used to be possible for a friend to put together an iMix and send me the name. I could then just drag that from the iTunes store into iTunes on my Mac as a playlist. When I when into the playlist it would instantly tell me which songs I already had and which I'd need to buy.
With the loss in iMixes, I can still be sent a Playlist, but then I need to drag each song one by one from the Playlist on iTunes into a playlist on iTunes. When I go into the playlist, it now shows that I need to buy every song. Its not until I try to buy a song that it wells me I already own the song. Even then, I need to find that song in my iTunes library and drap it into the playlist and delete the original playlist entry.
Whereas I could get a playlist for dozens of songs and deal with it in a few minutes in the past, it now can take an hour to effectively do this whole process manually.
This would seem to be a massive loss of functionality and makes it harder to effectively share playlists, and to buy lots of music. How spent hours trying to find a simple solution for this.
Would welcome suggestions of how to get back to the simple functionality that iMixes gave.

I've discovered an interesting "feature" of iOS7.1 for the iPad (4th gen).
Since upgrading, I can no longer play music that is in the cloud and when trying to switch to a song that has been downloaded to the device, it won't play either; however, the equilizer graphic indicates that something is playing (bouncing up and down) but the song position indicator stays at 0:00.
Eventually, iTunes/Music (not sure what to call it these days since Apple can't seem to decide either) gives up on the song selected, the on that is not playing, and moves to the next song. If the next song is local to the device, music plays, if it's another song in the cloud, the pattern repeats until it hits a downloaded song. Have also discovered, after my various and simple testing efforts, that I can no longer download songs from the cloud - I was able to download one song but afer that. . .kaput.
It takes a special level of brilliance to send out an update that breaks your own applications/code. . .particularly one so core to the device.
Two words for future releases. . ."Quality Assurance".I had a similar problem. Try resetting and erasing the phone and restoring from a known good backup.
