Get files out of version cue

We are finally moving from version cue. Is there an easy way to access my files? I've heard an extraction takes forever.

You should ask in the Version cue forum.

  • Getting files out of the Hard Drive

My laptop's motherboard fried out a couple of days ago, and the repairist said that it's beyond repair. I was wondering if there was a way to get some of the files out of the hard drive, if it's possible, with an adapter designed for hard drives of something?

If the hard disk is still good, sure. Just place it in an enclosure and plug that into the USB port of another computer.
To remove the hard drive, see the first two steps here.

  • Can you get files out of an .inprogress backup inside a .sparsebundle

I am trying to restore files from a time machine backup to a time capsule. My hard drive died and sent off to apple care to fix and returned brand spanking new. Now I am trying to restore the files from my time machine backup, but time machine won't access the correct backup on the time capsule, keeps trying to restore my wife's laptop to mine.
I am able to mount the .sparsebundle file associated with my laptop and when you open the drive it has a file with Date.inprogress I can open that as a package and see all the files from my backup but I can't copy any of them out. This is pretty frustrating, as I can see my photos in preview, but can't get them to my disk. All I really want is the photos, everything else can be reinstalled. Anyone got any ideas?

don't bother with the inprogress file. I don't believe you can do anything with it.
when you open the sparse bundle there should be folders with your full backups. why don't you use those?

  • Get files out of Exchange

We are mothballing a major project after completing it.  We have an exchange server with thousands of emails relating to the project.  We will eventually be closing down that exchange server.  Is there a way to get the emails out of exchange
in some sort of readable format so we can store them with the historical project files?

    Hi,
You can run discovery search in Exchange server and then export the result to PST file and store them with the project documents.
For ediscovery you need to create a discovery mailbox. Below article will help you setup discovery search.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd298021%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx
If you have only few mailboxes that contains project data then you can create a PST file from server end by using EMS command:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607299%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx
Please note that when you run export mailbox cmdlet all prerequisites for exporting a PST should be met. You can find the prerequisites on below technet article.

  • New year - new desaster: Version Cue CS4 damaged all my december work files

This year has not a good start for me. Now holidays are over and i have to work further on my projects from december. But now all files in my version cue projects from december are away - only the folder structure is still there, but where are the files. I installed the last version 4.01, i have looked in the project trash can ... nothing! Terrible!!!
About my system: i installed CS4 Web Standard, end of November on my Vista Home PC. PC works fine and has no harddisk problems. I suppose, that my failure was, that i installed Dreamweaver CS4 new in the end of December - not the other components only a re-install of Dreamweaver. After that i rekognized that my virtual drive from version cue was'nt active, but i got it back with all projects in it, but most files are away now.
Are the files really away, or is there a chance to get them back? Please Adobe guys, don't say no!
    Shocked Greetings
    Heiner

It says 'no items matched the search'.
I looked in the adobe common folder and cant find the versioncue file there either....
Found a workaround for the copy/paste and deleting problems though. I keep my usb drive plugged in and the window open on my computer, whatever needs copying gets dragged in there and dragged back out. Then I drag the file in the usb into the recycle bin. Kind of a time consuming process(for larger files) but I hope it helps anyone with the problem.

  • Exorcising old, unwanted Version Cue CS2 out of OSX System Preferences

I just switched over to an Intel Mac and have deleted my old Adobe CS2.
However I can't get rid of the "Version Cue CS2" from my System Preferences.
When I click on the Preference Pane, the following error shows up:
"You cannot open Adobe Version Cue CS2 preferences pane on this computer. Contact the developer of this software for a newer version."
I have a lot of lingering things from my PPC G5 iMac that I transferred over onto my new Core2Duo iMac. Any help on banishing CS2 Sys Pref? Thanks!

Locate the preference pane in either the /Library/Preference Panes/ or /Home/Library/Preference Panes/ folder and drag it to the Trash. Empty the Trash.
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Most applications create preference files which are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can located them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.
There are also several shareware utilities that can uninstall applications:
    AppZapper
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at www.versiontracker.com or www.mackupdate.com.

  • Version Cue CS4 Missing, Fatal Error!!! (Mac OS)

I bought the PS CS4 for OSX alone, without the suite. Although I figured that this would be great and all and everything would work. Although what I learned is that without buying the suite you dont get a copy of version cue. Okay, Im thinking this is fine and all, untill I then start up Photoshop and start a new image, at which point Im greeted with this error:
    Fatal error - missing component
The complete error message is in the picture
I checked out the forums and found help on disabling the options for versioncue, although they didnt help at all and the issue is still there.
Please help, I have to get PS working for my job, and Adobe Support wont help me.

    michaelkemp2 wrote:
…what I learned is that without buying the suite you dont get a copy of version cue.
That is not true at all, Michael.
I have never bought any version of the suite, and the Adobe Version Cue support files have been installed by Photoshop 10.x and 11.x.
For some reason you have a bad install.
Try using the Adobe Uninstaller to uninstall Photoshop 11.  Then Repair Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility.  Then install Photoshop, and Repair Permissions once again.
DO NOT move the Photoshop icon, nor the Photoshop folder from the default install location in the root Applications folder.
Once you're up and running, apply all available updates.
If you're still having problems after that, please give details about your machine, OS, etc.

  • Version cue.dll missing and cannot right click

Whenever I try to right click on any of my desktop files I get a pop up menu which says entitled explorer.exe – Fatal Application Exit and then the following error message:
The specified module could not be found. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.0\Version Cue.dll
I’ve uninstalled all Adobe files on my computer and still get this error message.
I have looked at some of the Adobe forums messages which suggest copying the Version Cue.dll files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.0\Version Cue.dll into a 4.0.1 folder however I do no have a Version Cue folder in my Common files\Adobe folder.
Please advise asap as my company does not provide IT support for Adobe products and want to reimage my computer to resolve this problem.
    Thanks

I just wanted to make a note that I read some of the other solutions posted to similar questions and was able to resolve the
issue by moving the Adobe Drive folder out of the Adobe folder within the Common files folder.
The right click problem went away however I'm having problems now reinstalling Acrobat Pro Extended. I'm not sure if this is related.

  • Missing Version Cue CS4

    Windows XP 32 bit
    I have PS CS5 so I uninstalled PS CS4.
Now I can't right click on the desktop or a file nor can I delete a file. I get an Explorer.exe Fatal Application Exit window saying:
The specified module could not be found
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.0\VersionCue.DLL
One solution I saw was to copy the DLL from Client\4.0.1  into Client\4.0.0
    BUT
    1. 4.0.1 file location doesn't have a VersionCue.DLL in it
    2. There is no Client\4.0.0 folder to put it in even if it were there in 4.0.1.

It's possible Adobe is trying to install a Shell Extension.
There are a couple of good free tools available out there on the net to manage what Shell Extensions you allow to run.
My favorite, which allows you to view an overview of EVERYTHING that's starting on your computer and disable the things you don't want running is AutoRuns.  It's freeware and available here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902
I have Photoshop 6.0, CS4, and CS5 installed on my Windows 7 x64 workstation.  The Adobe software I've personally disabled is shown in the following list.  Note that I'm only interested in running Photoshop, not the entire creative suite, and without any Adobe web integration:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
X "Adobe ARM" "Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager" "Adobe Systems Incorporated" "c:\program files (x86)\common files\adobe\arm\1.0\adobearm.exe"
    X "AdobeCS4ServiceManager" "Adobe CS4 Service Manager" "Adobe Systems Incorporated" "c:\program files (x86)\common files\adobe\cs4servicemanager\cs4servicemanager.exe"
    X "AdobeCS5ServiceManager" "Adobe CS5 Service Manager" "Adobe Systems Incorporated" "c:\program files (x86)\common files\adobe\cs5servicemanager\cs5servicemanager.exe"
X "SwitchBoard" "SwitchBoard Server (32 bit)" "Adobe Systems Incorporated" "c:\program files (x86)\common files\adobe\switchboard\switchboard.exe"
    HKLM\Software\Classes\AllFileSystemObjects\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandlers
X "Adobe Drive CS4" "Adobe Drive Menu" "Adobe Systems Incorporated" "c:\program files\common files\adobe\adobe drive cs4\adfsmenu.dll"
    HKLM\Software\Classes\Directory\Background\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandlers
X "Adobe Drive CS4" "Adobe Drive Menu" "Adobe Systems Incorporated" "c:\program files\common files\adobe\adobe drive cs4\adfsmenu.dll"
    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services
X "SwitchBoard" "Adobe SwitchBoard" "Adobe Systems Incorporated" "c:\program files (x86)\common files\adobe\switchboard\switchboard.exe"
X "adfs" "Adobe Drive File System Driver" "Adobe Systems, Inc." "c:\windows\system32\drivers\adfs.sys"
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\NetworkProvider\Order
    X "AdobeDriveCS4_NP" "Adobe Drive CS4 Network" "Adobe Systems Incorporated" "c:\program files\common files\adobe\adobe drive cs4\adobedrivecs4_np.dll"
AutoRuns has a nice search feature to help you find all the Adobe entries...  Click the binoculars, enter Adobe, then hit OK.  Hit the F3 key to search for subsequent entries.
Basically, just uncheck the items you don't want running, taking care to ensure you understand what they are and why you might want them (this will take some net research).  When you're done, exit and reboot.
Good luck ferreting out the piece that's not needed/wanted.

  • How do I fix this Version Cue error

I recently upgraded my Vista Machine to Windows 7.  Before the upgrade I deactivated and uninstalled my Adobe Creative Suite software.  After the Windows 7 upgrade I reinstalled both CS2 Premium and CS4 Design Premium.  It said there was a error during install that regarding Flash and that some of it's components might not work properly and to try the installion again.  I did but I am not to concerned with Flash since I don't use it.  My problem is that Illustrator and Photoshop don't work.  I get the following error messages when I try to open a file then the program shuts down.
    Illustrator.exe - Fatal application exit
The specified module could not be found.  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common FIles\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.1\Version Cue.DLL
    Photoshop
    Error
The Specified module could not be found.  C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.1\Version Cue.DLL
    How can this be fixed?
    Thanks
    Lee

I found the fix from a previous post regarding this issue.  It is detailed below.
    Hi Gang,
I was having the same problem as you all. I tried all the dll download sites that said they had the file I needed and all I had to do was to "unzip it and install it into the system directory", and of course, none of them worked. And that was while and after I waded through all the registry scanner stuff that came up on my "VersionCue.DLL error" search.
Anyway, to make a long story short, I simply copied the same file that is in:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.0\
    to
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.1\
Actually, I copied all of the files, not including the Dictionaries directory,
    VersionCue.dll
    VersionCueSDK.dll
    VersionCueUI.dll
    ExtendScript.dll
that were not in the 4.0.1 directory.
Now, I ended up with these 5 files,
    VersionCue.dll
    VersionCueSDK.dll
    VersionCueUI.dll
    ExtendScript.dll
    ScCore.dll
    and 1 directory, Dictionaries.
Now all is back to normal, for me at least. I hope this can help others, as well.

  • InDesign Server and Version Cue

Does anyone know where I can find javascript examples on how to get the InDesign server to talk to Version Cue?
I need to access templates that are checked in to Version Cue, and I want to be able to check in generated PDFs
I found a couple of functions in the object model, but I keep getting errors from the Version Cue client inside the InDesign server.

Thank you Bturko in the future only migrate/copy/transfer your documents and settings.  Adobe applications especially are not designed to be transferred from one computer to another.  It is possible to recover however.  I would recommend the following steps:
Run the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers
Run the CC Cleaner Tool to ensure complete removal - Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
If you need to download a fresh copy of the installation files they can be downloaded at Download CS3 products.
Run the installer and reinstall Creative Suite 3.

  • Version Cue Server 4.0.1 Update Problems

I've recently run into a problem with Version Cue Server 4.0.1. I've been using "Adobe Creative Suite CS4 Master Collection" without any problems until a couple of days ago when I ran the updates.
The updates locked up and failed on Version Cue, and after that, every time I right click on my desktop or in Windows Explorer, I get the error message:
"The specified module could not be found. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\4.0.1\VersionCue.DLL"
    Then everything crashes and reloads.
I called tech support and they said to reboot in a simplified mode, create a new administrator account, and reinstall version cue. Didn't work. I tried reinstalling both from the CD and from the downloaded update. Same problem. The installation goes most of the way and then fails.
I uninstalled Master Suite and was able to right-click again without problems, so I went back to a simplified boot and tried re-installing the software...which crashed my computer and caused the same right-click error message.
As I said earlier, everything worked fine right up until the point I ran the updates, so I know the software will run on my computer (Vista 32bit service pack 1).
    Thoughts?

    All,
I personally have been driving this issue at Adobe. As mentioned before, we've been hindered by the fact that we cannot yet reproduce the problem on a machine in our offices. But I've been doing all that I can to coordinate between customers and Senior Computer Scientists who are investigating this.
Here's the new information that has been learned by remotely debugging on customer's machines (great thanks to those who have made time for this!).
The problem is isolated to the binary patching function in our update components. This means updates that modify the files on your current system are impacted. Updates that simply replace the existing files with all new versions of the files, are not affected. While I don't have a complete list of which update uses which method, I can say that the recently released Photoshop CS4 and InDesign CS4 updates use a full file replacement method, so they should be no risk.
It was earlier believed that this problem only happened in the context of the Adobe_Updater.exe, which downloads the updates and runs them in with UI suppressed. This is now known not to be true, so "manual" running of the updates is not a valid workaround (sorry for those who spent time trying this).
There is some suspicions that the issue has to do with the temp folder being used by the updater. I've tested a private build with a change in this area on a couple customer machines, and got more elegant failures (didn't cause apps to stop working), but still no success
    Lourens Van Der Jagt,
I found your observation about the "FAST IO DISALLOWED" messages to be very interesting, and forwarded that, along with results of my recent tests of the private build, to the devs.
One other thing that I found on the Vista machines I've looked at, which I'm curious about. On all machines I've looked at, the NTFS junction (looks like a shortcut) named "Program Data" in the root of the user folder is visible, while all other junctions are not. And, the junction can be browsed. All other Vista systems I've ever seen do not display this unless protected system files are asked to be displayed, and then they cannot be browsed.
I want you all to know that I have been working hard to represent you and get a resolution for this. I appreciate the hardship it presents to you, and I take it very seriously. Please keep the dialog going, and I'll try to keep updating here and in other threads as much as I can.
    Sincerely,
    Matt

  • Error code version cue CS4

i have a purchased version of adobe photoshop cs4. Getting an error code every time I try to open images in photoshop that causes photoshop to close rendering photoshop useless to work images in...error code is as follows c:\program files\common files\adobe\adobe version cue cs4\client\4.0.01\version cue.DLL...please help thouroughly frustrated and disgusted

    pabze1 wrote:

Is it possible you made a typo there?  My Photoshop CS4 is fully up to date, and all I have is this file:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.0\VersionCue.dll
Note that there is no .01 in the path, just .0.
In any case, a missing DLL error probably indicates you need to reinstall Photoshop.

  • Disable adobe version cue?

    hi
the problem is, the adobe version cue (cs2) has a "preferences error" when you try to access it in the preference pane. i assume this is because it's on rosetta and some things don't work properly until the universal version.
but is there another way to get rid of the version cue icon & menu from the taskbar?
it causes my shapeshifter theme to look weird because that part is being left out.
    thanks for suggestions in advance

Since it's an Adobe product, you may want to post your question on the Adobe forums: http://www.adobe.com/go/gntraysupp_forumshome
